Thank you! This was my favorite lunchroom dish in elementary school; in the fifth grade, we were allowed to go back for seconds, as long as we cleaned our plate.Well, that year, my birthday fell on a Friday, something was up with the teacher, because the whol day was devoted to films and educational tv, but the crowning treat was sloppy joes for lunch! As I remember it, I had "forths".😊 Thank you renewing the memory.
These buns are really big, they look awesome. I would use them as a food bowl. Pot roast in the bowls are wounderful. I made them for my husband a few days ago. Thank you much much
Just found your channel and i must ask is there a copycat recipe for Longhorn Steakhouse's mushroom gravy recipe? I love it on their chop steak item and it's absolutely delicious
Tried the sloppy joe and it was a great success! It was awesome as is, but I didn't have quite enough tomato sauce, so used a little ketchup, and it was still fantastic! Thanks for posting this.
I stumbled onto a little trick a few years ago... if some unwanted eggshells fall into the bowl, use the remaining eggshell in your hand to lift, scrape or drag it out. It seems that like ingredients stick to each other. This goes for other ingredients too. Try it! BTW, those (sloppy joe) buns aare beautiful!
I completely forgot you needed bacon grease for this recipe so I had to make some bacon to get the grease. Then, since I didn't want the bacon to go to waste, I chopped it up and added it into the sloppy joes. It was very yummy.
Looks great, naking an adjustment to my recipe 🤫, im a chef but i cant make dough if life depending on it, a flatbread yea🤣😂, will give a whirl but🤷, tyvm tc
That looks so good Johnny!! I haven't made sloppy joes in a while. Definitely want to give your recipe a go. Also those buns look really good. I haven't tried the sponge technique before but it looks like I'll have to try it soon if I'm going to recreate everything your way. Thanks for the awesome video!
It would work and many sloppy joe recipes call for it. However the taste would not be the same as madeira - it has a sweeter more fruity taste that makes the sloppy joes POP.
YUM! Just not a fan of the prepared mustard in S.J.'s. I remember the S.J."s from Banquet boiler bags, they were the best. Thank you. God Bless and stay safe.
I think this has to be the fanciest sloppy joe recipe I have ever seen, and probably the tastiest too. Take it from me... I'm a sloppy joe aficionado! 😂❤️💯
I have rewatched this video 5 times. I noticed something, when I use jalapeno, green peppers I always leave all the seeds, and even more so i noticed I have been doing that my entire life. I like spice and Lots of it lol.
Not always lol, my grandma's eggs sunk, but pasteurized eggs can go either way, temperature and days kept make difference, I went by the theory until culinary school, I was throwing hundreds of dozens eggs in trash🫤, still if fail test, and always, crack each separate in a bowl 👍
Is it still Sloppy Joes if you leave out the bell pepper (due to allergy)? Loved having these as a kid but they did not agree with me. Finally, just started using bbq sauce instead of packets or cans of Sloppy Joe filling.
Brits don't worry about it and simply call it "Wooster" just like Johnny. I may have encouraged him to pronounce it that way in the past. It's all about the Brits, you know.
There's something magical about your food. I appreciate your efforts; I was wondering if you could share a video of you cooking with KHAL viewers 🥰😘🤩 *******

Those look fabulous!
This looked really good, I'd take it as is and would LOVE to put that over some spaghetti!
Excellent video! Thank you!
Hubby loves your recipe...OK, me too! 😅

There's not much out there on that copycat gravy. I will try to research it and see what I can do. Thanks for watching 👍

😂 "no Pbun" intended knee slapper.😂😂❤
It looks fabulous, as always! And thank you so much for giving all measurements also in the metric system, it's so kind :)
You are so welcome! If you give it a shot let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching

Definitely looks like you need a mixer for this one 😄. Looks delicious!
I love the Sloppy Joe recipe! ⬅ The buns look wonderful but, shucks, I don't bake.
I hear that my baked items always come out blackened and I don't mean seasonings...

The madeira makes all the difference - gives it that classic sweet sloppy joe taste. Enjoy!
Love your recipes. If you don't want to go out and buy Madiera wine would a Two Buck Chuck (cheap ass) Red Wine work?
It would work and many sloppy joe recipes call for it. However the taste would not be the same as madeira - it has a sweeter more fruity taste that makes the sloppy joes POP.
The buns look awesome. Great for hamburgers and hotdogs. I'm surprised that you didn't put any ground cumin in the sloppy joe mixture.

Maybe I burned my taste buds so much that is why I don't enjoy heated sour cream.
You'd love John Kirkwood's channel!
Awesome job and i can't wait to make these!
Pro tip: Cut a hole in the top of the bun and fill like soup in a bread bowl. All Joe, no slop.
Great idea 👌👍
I haven't had sloppy Joes since I was a child and I am 40 something.... Lol
I hope you have a chance to try this recipe out. It really brings back the memories of the good old days and it's not that hard to make
@@thesauceandgravychannel This recipe looks 😍, I most certainly will make this. 😊❤ Thank you for the comment! ❤ Appreciate you.
Let me tell you a little secret. Put your eggs in shell in water if it sinks it's good 😊.

Nah good to use in baking, floaters are not exactly bad I just scramble those quickly unless they look bad.

"Werse duh shure" sauce 😂 that word is hilarious to pronounce..

@@criticitizen8749 I already understood that. So what's your beef?
Starting to talk like Guga Food's Gustavo..?😆
You should have skipped the making of the Buns , otherwise it is a great recipe 😊
The buns are a bonus package - the sloppy joe sauce is where it's at. I hope you have a chance to try it out. Thanks for watching
Am I missing some inside joke? What's up with the "Wisk it" tomato sauce?
