I was an 18 year old metal head, when this song was released. Would hear it on the radio and was like wowww. Probably the most beautiful rock ballad I ever heard.
It was 1990 and I was a young Marine deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield. My unit was one of the first on the ground less then 3 weeks after Iraq invaded Kuwait. I had my M16, K-bar and Walkman along with a handful of tapes to listen to. One of which was your fairly recently released self titled album. When we weren’t busting our butts or on patrol I listened to this album nonstop. Your music is a mainstay on my playlists today and Steelheart will always have a special place in my heart and memories. Thank you for all the incredible music that you made. Semper Fi!

One of the best songs ever written. Everything about this song.... it's magic. Mili's voice, and Fowler's drum sound... not to mention the way the music video was shot. The video is simple yet beautiful and creates the perfect mood. Pure kick-ass...... case closed.

This song is such a master piece. Not only was one of my favorites since I was in 9th grade, but when I was a traveling male stripper, I used this song for my Towel Dance routine, back in 2006 to 2007, along with Purple Rain by Prince, depending on the ethnic group of the attendance to the private party I was hosting. Needless to say, everyone that saw me perform that dance, left with their jaws dropped to the floor, and wanted desperately for me to do an encore.
Thank you for this song. You have no idea how many times this song helped me put food on the table and feed my 6 year old daughter at that time.
So many hit songs have come from just noodling around on the guitar! Usually the best ones come from noodling around on the fret board! And you sir are a very underrated guitar player. You deserve much more credit than you get!

Dude. That song is EPIC! I'm a singing drummer. The drums are HUGE in that track and I love singing what my voice can handle. I'm 46 years old now. But I used to be able to hit those notes. Not so much now. Sadly. But I still play the drums like that. Thank you for writing that song and inspiring me.
I remember when that song came out and I first heard it. I was at a party and it was late and all the stores were closed, but I fell in love with that song and the band. As soon as the stores opened I went and bought the album and have loved Steelheart ever since.

I owned a music magazine when this song came out and interviewed Mili and he said the song was titled "Angel Eyes" He was driving down the road and the Jeff Healy song "Angels Eyes" came on the radio. He got so mad (rightly so) that he had to pull over to the side of the road. Back then it was not common for songs to share the same title. I have the interview recorded. I should go listen to it. It is nice to hear how the song came to life.
It is a brilliant song and has stood the test of time as the other song has faded into obscurity.

My now 21 yr old son was amazed at your range when I first played this song for him. He vowed to reach that highest note... practiced and practiced in his car and one day he said... I got it! We listened and he got it.... however strained it was... and it was of course... but so great that he tried to get there. A very cool bonding thing for us.

I met you and the guys in Cape Canaveral where you guys played at a local bar. And packed the house. Me and 2 of my friends. Met you. Right outside, as you had just finished. You shook my hand as the bassist reached out to hand you a towel for your long sweat soaked hair.
It was the best night of my young life. I still have it somewhere. In my memorabilia a flyer from that bar.
I was 19 then. And now, I'm 49. Soon to be 50. And you sound Just as Amazing. I believe I may have been the only one sober. That entire evening cause it was around 645 am that following morning. My friends emerged from the bus and I drove them home. You n the guys were super sweet. Always stuck w me.
