This session has introduced generations to so many artists. People often talk about gateways to drugs but this is a gateway to music and music is a gateway to the soul. Nirvana is such a fitting name, youre face to face with the man who souled the world

"The Man Who Sold The World"
    We passed upon the stairs
We spoke of was and when
    Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
    Which came as a surprise
    I spoke into his eyes
    I thought you died alone
    A long long time ago
    Oh no, not me
    We never lost control
    You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
I laughed and shook his hand
And made my way back home
    I searched for foreign land
For years and years I roamed
    I gazed a gazely stare
    We walked a million hills
    I must have died alone
    A long, long time ago
    Who knows? Not me
    I never lost control
    You're face to face

@@JudgementKazzy87 The lyrics of both songs (David Bowie and Nirvana) are different, in the first one Bowie speaks about how its dealing with his alter ego (Zigie Stardust, a role that he played in 70's) and the way how the alter ego and Bowie becomes one after he realizes the alter ego always have been with him; by the other hand, in Nirvana's version Kurt speaks that he accepts his "past me" but his "present me" can't coexist with him and now (sort of like their personalities are separating from each other), in the way that he sings it, he's resigned of how's his life and how he lost his path; we can see this subtrama in the way that in the first song starts with "I" and ends with "We" and in the second one, starts with "We" and ends with "I".

I'm not really worthy. talk or meddle. everyone has their own reasons. because I believe the original purpose and vision are good and true. generate good for me and good. not luck without reason and unclear goals. suddenly we have luck or opportunity. good must produce good. the problem in Lebanon. there should be reduction and interference. if it is very dangerous. the reasons are many. welding image problem there. could be a factor of reality. what are the goals and reasons. obviously security is a dangerous risk. power usage. heat on induction in the form of cables and power lines. use of lights and electrical equipment and fans that stay on. makes induction burn or heat. location and hot temperature. objects that can explode always give off a hot, warm aura. I don't want to feel smarter. I still have to study and be advised from others. I don't want to be without facts. as if I knew everything. all there must be evidence and reasonable reasons. no assumptions exist. is completion. I hope all is well and always healthy.

The way this was played live with little to no mistakes is amazing, at the beginning it's relatively slow but you can see and feel them just jamming with the exact same tempo as each other yet slowly speeding up at throughout the song and it just gives it this sense of imperfect perfection, if the song was perfect it wouldn't be as real, but this cover is as balanced as you can get and all the while they're just chilling and having fun.

Apparently Bowie liked Kurt's version. "I was simply blown away when I found that Kurt Cobain liked my work, and have always wanted to talk to him about his reasons for covering 'The Man Who Sold the World'" and that "it was a good straight forward rendition and sounded somehow very honest. It would have been nice to have worked with him, but just talking with him would have been real cool."
    Bowie called Nirvana's cover "heartfelt".
"If the mark of a good cover is that people do not even realize it's a cover, Nirvana certainly did a good job"

Bowie (as far as i know) wrote this song with the influence of his brother, who was a cultured and intelligent young man that had dealt with serious mental health issues. Bowie had a good relationship with him, he also introduced many aspects of art and philosophy to Bowie, definitely influencing Bowie’s art. Bowie told that his brother would sometimes go on long trips and dissappear for long times. One day he went on another one of these trips, and eventually committed suicide by lying on the railway.
RIP to all those beatiful souls we lost who were fighting their own demons.

I picked my son up from camp today (just turned 15) and had Nirvana playing on the drive. He hopped in, looked at me and said, with wide eyes, “sick music choice mom, I didn’t know you liked Nirvana”. The drive home consisted of telling my son stories of what an awful teenager I was when Nirvana was at its peak, and commending him on being a better teen than I was.
What a bonding moment though. Thank you Kurt, your brilliance transcends the ages 🥹 (and *yes* I know Bowie wrote this particular jam, lol)
