Me too man, I’ll never forget setting in English class Sophomore year and MTV news announced he was dead and I started crying. I bought my son a vinyl player and Nirvanas greatest hits when he was 14 because I needed him to know good music.
No Kurt, you didnt mess up this song. This is my absoulute favorite version of it. Your voice and soul in this performance is golden. Rest in peace, where ever you are.
Theyre just a little bit too much in everything... With those shows, that no one sees haha. But they switched to 14/16 hours of music tho... it might not be the best music but they play music yknow...
it’s honestly crazy about this, my dad was at this concert, and he said it was a work of art, and to see this song have HALF A BILLION VIEWS is fucking insane. Rest easy, Kurt ❤
Back when MTV was worth anything and played music -- Unplugged was one of the coolest things ever done on TV. I bought this Unplugged Album and Eric Clapton's as well - they were amazing performances (and I'm not even a Nirvana fan but can't deny Kurt's awesome voice)
I recall when MTV and H1 played music video mainly, also when cable tv had nearly no stations and then went to providing stereo "movie" audio over FM tuner hooked to their coax. lol
I heard this high one night in high school, on the way to a movie. I heard it sober many times since. I have heard it after a few beers. Does not change. Perfection...
@Emily Gibson I was talking about a song that I love. A moment in time a long time ago, and no one was ever in danger. You are the type that chills me. You are the worst of the worst, and would do the worst things to other people. You are evil.
thankfully i still have all my music downloaded on my phone; but damn this is quite the event happening here. almost everything belonging to the band on here is all gone. this is why we have got to make physical media the norm again.
its crazy to see how many people come back to this everyday. i feel so alone but at least this shows me that im connected to other people in some way and that we all kinda go through stuff and that it all doesnt really matter in the end
Its been 27 years today since Kurt died, he has been gone longer than he was alive. "RIP" Kurt we all miss you and wish you were still here making us smile, you were one of the greatest musicians that ever lived and I just hope that wherever you are your at peace. Your legacy will always live forever Kurt you were the best to do it.
Dan. Kurt was loved by many true hearts and souls who were saved by his music. Some lucky enough to met and worked with him. Both Kurt and Layne were REAL no fake. May they rest in peace. Maybe don't paste your SAME COMMENT on every channel to get likes..it's not cool. I was one of those lucky ones..✌🏼
The way this was played live with little to no mistakes is amazing, at the beginning it's relatively slow but you can see and feel them just jamming with the exact same tempo as each other yet slowly speeding up at throughout the song and it just gives it this sense of imperfect perfection, if the song was perfect it wouldn't be as real, but this cover is as balanced as you can get and all the while they're just chilling and having fun.
Kurt’s solo towards the end of this song is so amazing! Gives me goosebumps every time. I love both this version and David Bowie’s but Kurt’s solo takes it to another level for me! R.I.P.
This cover by Nirvana took me to listening to early Bowie. I had never explored it before then. Became a manic Bowie fan. This version is absolutely brilliant.
Yes its the greatest unplugged , but the worst nirvana concert , kurts guitar isnt broken , krists head isnt cracked open by his bass and daves drum kit doesnt even have a scratch
Apparently Bowie liked Kurt's version. "I was simply blown away when I found that Kurt Cobain liked my work, and have always wanted to talk to him about his reasons for covering 'The Man Who Sold the World'" and that "it was a good straight forward rendition and sounded somehow very honest. It would have been nice to have worked with him, but just talking with him would have been real cool." Bowie called Nirvana's cover "heartfelt". "If the mark of a good cover is that people do not even realize it's a cover, Nirvana certainly did a good job"
For some reason they cut it, but it always started with Kurt saying "this is a David Bowie song." He gave it his all but made sure that he took nothing.
I can’t stop crying this song i have heard it my entire life but for some reason at 2am it hits different, man i really wish some people were still alive.
K. B. G. Your statement is not just one of the only few intelligent comments, but it is also a very accurate and true statement... The legends have left behind something for us that will forever be cherished in one way or another.
@cíndєrfєllα 98 , you're wrong, pal. Sorry. Research again. Besides, at the end of this very song Cobain even says "that was a David Bowie's song" to the crowd. That part was cut out of this video.

Their songs, covers and albums are timeless. Even 27 years after Cobains death, the music is still reminiscent of one of the best bands the world ever saw. Rest in peace Kurt, we miss you.
It’s all about who you impact and what you leave behind. No doubt Kurt had much more to do, both as a person and a musician but all we can do is speculate. No questioning nirvana as one of the most impactful and best bands ever
Kurt never missed a beat, that solo could have been a disaster but he saved it. Played through 2 wrong notes and kept right on trucking. Most people when they fck up would freeze and scrap the entire performance. Kurt was as real as it gets! RIP Kurt and thanks for the tunes!

I remember this so clearly, I remember wanting something so badly. I remember being so lost...I just feel sad. I feel like I missed something. I'm sorry.
Bowie (as far as i know) wrote this song with the influence of his brother, who was a cultured and intelligent young man that had dealt with serious mental health issues. Bowie had a good relationship with him, he also introduced many aspects of art and philosophy to Bowie, definitely influencing Bowie’s art. Bowie told that his brother would sometimes go on long trips and dissappear for long times. One day he went on another one of these trips, and eventually committed suicide by lying on the railway. RIP to all those beatiful souls we lost who were fighting their own demons.

I picked my son up from camp today (just turned 15) and had Nirvana playing on the drive. He hopped in, looked at me and said, with wide eyes, “sick music choice mom, I didn’t know you liked Nirvana”. The drive home consisted of telling my son stories of what an awful teenager I was when Nirvana was at its peak, and commending him on being a better teen than I was. What a bonding moment though. Thank you Kurt, your brilliance transcends the ages 🥹 (and *yes* I know Bowie wrote this particular jam, lol)

Apparently Bowie liked Kurt's version. It would have been nice to have worked with him, but just talking with him would have been real cool."
Bowie called Nirvana's cover "heartfelt".
"If the mark of a good cover is that people do not even realize it's a cover, Nirvana certainly did a good job"

To this day, it still makes me sad that a person like him, one in a million, left this world. There was so much more music to be made and heard
this wasn’t his song
this was on that trash movie fear street?
Yep
RIP David Bowie (January 8, 1947 - January 10, 2016), aged 69
And
RIP Kurt Cobain (February 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994), aged 27
You both will be remembered as legends.
And Chester Bennington?
@@Rubenete_insanobowie and cobain sang this song, chester didn’t
@@Rubenete_insano David Bowie wrote this song.
👍
Chester Bennington made a career being a crybaby. And in the end he was only that.
I’d never be able to forget this guitar in my life .
It hurts to come back and listen to his unplugged stuff... he had plans for a more chill album with similar vibes as this one before he died. I really wonder how different music would be if he’d lived.
Stuff like WAP wouldn't exist hopefully lmao

The 90's are described as the best decade by every person who lived them, and this performance is one of the reasons I understand why.
i got high for the first time in 2000 and started a lifelong problem. Yes, i loved the 90's. It was a more human experience
Easy there guy. Check out ANY 80's video and read the comments. I was in my 20's in the 90's and had an absolute blast, but the 80's were better.
During the 90's the music scene had variety. Kurt Cobain was contemporary to other artists like Tupac or Biggie for example
@@sweetrobertos They have NOT lived the better decades to KNOW what was better and never will know. This is called a narrow view. or uninformed.
70's and 80's were best@@sweetrobertos
Best part about Kurt is he lives with me forever. I named my second son after him 14 years ago.
RIP my friend
