My wife has probably been saying for two years “When is Snob going to do a video on Prom Night?” She even asked a few days ago, and starting to get angry about it. Thanks Snob, the peace in our home has been restored.
I vividly remember first seeing this movie when I was 12, alone, on a stormy night, and right after the scene where the killer dials the phone, my home phone started ringing lol
I was pretty bummed when I found out about James Earl Jones today, but this video lifted my spirit just a little. It's like a bully punched me in the face, but then a friend gave me a cookie. Thanks, Brad. I needed that.
I love that movie so much It falls into my favorite subgenre "Even tho this movie is really weird and isn't like the first one in anyway we promise it's still a sequel"
@@robotrix I like how Halloween would've technically been the first one to do the whole anthology thing but didn't And almost every other horror franchise did end up doing it Prom night, hellraiser, tcm, silent night deadly night, Chucky
Its cool seeing leslie neilson a slasher movie as he is a versatile actor giving him the opportunity to star in slasher he will be able to handle that as a serious role
Its plot may not be the best, but the disco scenes, the unintentional comedy, and the eerie trailer make up for it. My prom was nowhere near this cool-looking.
I first saw Prom Night like 4 years ago in October when it was available to watch on either Peacock or Tubi. For my senior prom, we rented a hall at the local convention center with a DJ, and we later went back to the school cafeteria for Casino Night.
Woo Prom Night! I saw this one a lot but sometimes got it confused in my head with Terror Train because of Jamie Lee Curtis. Still, good times. Thanks Snob!
Honestly the ending is pretty damn depressing. Killer gets killed by his own sister who he never targeted, the survivor is the only guy who regrets what he did. and the killer dies in his sisters arm crying out for the other dead sibling
Ironically, Jamie Lee Curtis would have been only about 20 or 21 here. She was actually the only 18-year-old cast for Halloween (19 during shooting), despite looking older and more mature.
The one and only thing I remembered from this Movie before a rewatch was the decapitation scene. Still to this day its one of My all time favorite Slasher Movie kills!
I can't wait for you to review Hello Mary Lou! I'm pretty curious to hear your thoughts on Prom Night 3: The Last Kiss as well. That one is almost a spoof. A lot of comedy in it.
Just watched the 3rd one last night and it's free to watch, here on TH-cam. Tubi has all of them (including the 2008 remake) except the 3rd one, for whatever weird ass reason.
He was almost entirely a serious actor until Airplane! and Police Squad!. He was in The Poseiden Adventure. Some of his serious roles are unintentionally hilarious, like in Day of the Animals, in which he's a rich psycho. Rifftrax thoroughly tore that movie apart. He's also a rich psycho in Creepshow
I just remembered that this movie was spoofed on Robot Chicken with the Muppets and the whole Skeeter not being with the main Muppets. Even having Steve Martin making a cameo.
Probably me i am having a sense of déjà vu with this one. I feel you already did this film and it's reboot. Then i remember i am getting this mixed up with april fools
This is one of my favorites:):) I love the Hammonds, preferring Kim over Laurie Strode, how she relates to Alex and their dad, the story of the family dealing with their tragedy and the cops investigating, how the movie looks, and of COURSE the music. The part when Kim tells Nick that it's Robyn's day and it would've been her first prom always gets me, and of course when she sees Alex's eyes looking at the killer and makes the horrifying realization:( Leslie was great as Jamie Lee's dad, and I seriously wish she had been Becky in 'Creepshow' to come back as a water zombie and get him;)
Just watched this last night, actually a pretty fun slasher, I dug most of the kills like "Slick's" death, so they tried to be somewhat creative. But the soundtrack was a lot of fun, as was some of the dance sequences, and the acting and gore was pretty solid. I do wish the story was a little better structured, but still I had fun with one.
Did you know that Paul Lynch directed one of films which was one of the earliest Keanu Reeves's roles starring with Olivia D'abo, Flying/Dream to Believe (1986)?
Which cut do you prefer @cinemasnob? I've always felt like this one has some rather slow sections... then I watched the Directors Cut, and I felt like the pacing came across much more fluid.
This has a final guy as apposed to a final girl, since Jamie Lee Curtis was never an intended victim. Also there’s foreshadowing with Nick missing the killer’s phone call.
18:44-19:14 Ironically, six years after the release of *"PROM NIGHT",* Wes Craven's sci-fi horror film: *"DEADLY FRIEND"* was originally filmed as a PG-rated sci-fi thriller with a macabre love story, before it was changed for an R-rating.
I remember watching this a decade ago or so and can't remember anything about it other than it's a bit boring, even in the 80's slasher standard. But man that theme song slaps, I've been listening to it ever since!
It was this episode that I noticed in the opening theme that the line "girl of my dreams" was placed over footage of Miss Velma. I don't know if there's message there or not, but hey, I don't judge.
Is Prom Night 3 and 4 worth watching? I've seen the original film, Hello Mary lou and Prom night 2008. Hello mary lou is my favorite of this franchise and I never thought of it as a loose anthology. I really think The Loved Ones should've been the remake, its So much better than what we got.
I have this somewhere in my collection of DVDs in a weird low budget collection release funniest thing it is the only one that doesn't match the set were the rest are low budget super natural horror not vintage psycho killer slashers
I really enjoyed this film when I watched it a few years ago - the characters are unusually fleshed out and likeable for a film like this. I watches it on streaming service Shudder and it was a murky VHS rip that was so dark you couldn't tell what was happening in a lot of the climax. Frustrating.
What I don't understand is how the sequel is not the little girl coming back to life and exacting revenge. 🤔 Like, they missed the perfect opportunity to do that.
Agreed that Terror Train is the better film. That had stronger mystery elements with the constant costume changes, it had more bang for its buck, and generally better directed. Plus, Terror Train had David Copperfield, who was mesmerizing. Prom Night is a little too loose in trying to make its mystery work with red herrings and a police investigation story that goes nowhere.
The one TH-cam channel intro I never skip.

"Watching my video" really is the best theme for this channel.

It fits better, but "Believe it or not" is just too iconic for me to ever concede the title of the perfect Snob intro to anything else.
