“Do you want to stop that now?” That means he doesn’t want to talk anymore. Why press him? He’s talking about the murder of one of his best friends why make him talk about it to great length. Just because he’s a public figure doesn’t mean he isn’t a human being first.

I interpreted it as he felt bad for crying, English people from his generation are very stiff and tried to suck things up. You can see how the other Beatles handled talking about John’s death to see what I mean. Ringo didn’t seem to have a problem revealing some insight into it, he’s talked about John plenty of times.

I gained so much appreciation for Ringo after the Get Back documentary. He was a rock solid member of the group, showing up and working hard without ever complaining, even when morale was low and they were just spinning their wheels.
It was amazing seeing how even when Paul and John would start messing around and making up a silly song, or start an impromptu cover, Ringo would immediately join in with a beat. He was an integral part of when they were noodling around to see if a song comes out, and just an integral element of the band overall.

This is a side of Ringo that the wider world don't normally see. He didn't just lost a friend, or a fellow musician. He lost a family member. A "brother", for a lack of a better term. You can't go through all the ups and downs with three other people like what The Beatles did between 1963-ish to 1970 without becoming family. No one can't take that away from Ringo, George, Paul, and John. We can see that here in how Ringo is talking. This video is hard to watch. The pain is so open and visible.

Yes, he was not a "flashy" drummer that did 15 minute (often boring) drum solos - what he was though, was the drummer of the Beatles that provided the perfect percussion to their unique magical mix of talent and collaboration and if you listen carefully to all their songs, you soon realize the drumming couldn't have been any different - or better...

@Barbara Nelson Paul suffered too. Not only grief, but also remourse over their falling out. At least they were able to patch up their friendship before John was killed. But they could have done so much more together, given more time. Do not judge the grief and sorrow of another. You don't know the pain he was masking inside.
When my best friend died, we hadn't been on speaking terms for a very long time. Therefore, I didn't feel I was entitled to outwardly grieve. So I kept it inside. Trust me, that's torture. And it's a slow-releasing type of grief. If you don't allow yourself to grieve right up front, it only hits you harder as time goes by. He keeps it hidden well, but you can catch that sad look in Paul's eyes in different interviews about John throughout the years. And he's written songs for John, also. Don't judge.

He had been designated to ask Paul to delay the release of his solo album so that it wouldn't compete with the Beatles' upcoming release. So, Paul screamed at him and threw him out of his house. There were sour feelings there for awhile but they reconciled fairly quickly and Paul even acknowledges today that he completely overreacted with Ringo.

John and Ringo always got along. There were times when John, George and Ringo were unhappy with Paul and times when John was unhappy with George and George was unhappy with John. And even Ringo's best friend in the group George even sued Ringo once because of his arrangement of a song he had written for him. But aside from Ringo being a bit annoyed and puzzled by John's activities with Yoko and her being at all the sessions and leaving the group for a few days during The White album sessions because he felt left out he and John never had a falling out as far as I know. Ringo drummed on the Plastic Ono Band album and Cold Turkey. John and the other two wrote songs for Ringo for his 1973 album. John's Nobody Told Me was actually a demo for Ringo that Ringo was going to do a version of an put on his 1981 album but after John's death he didn't want to use it and it was instead released as a posthumous John Lennon song. If John had stayed in the UK or Ringo moved to New York I think they would have collaborated even more. John and Ringo always liked each other.

One thing that I respect about this is the fact that he's 100% REAL about how he FEELS. I live my life in the same way. I am very open about my emotions. I grew up with domestic violence and saw my mum emotionally and psychologically abused by my dad on a daily basis.. She was so kind and loving.. She never hurt anybody... He just enjoyed abusing her - making her feel like a pathetic, worthless piece of trash... I lost her to cancer when I was 23.. She was 47 when she died. That was 14 years ago but it still hurts me and I often have to hold back from crying when I talk about the way he treated her... People always seem to walk around in rose tinted glasses, pretending that the world is all perfect and peachy. Life isn't like that. People suffer deeply and it should be addressed more. You have to be real. Life can be very sad and very dark. You're only hurting yourself by pretending that it isn't.

Not only did Chapman who was trying to bring attention to himself kill John Lennon but his actions shocked millions of fans who loved his music and in general his humanness. John wasn't perfect, he made lots of mistakes like most of us do but his amazing music will always shine on in our hearts. His death was even far more difficult for his band mates who spent countless hours writing music and playing songs with him going through a lot of ups and downs but they genuinely cared about each other. It had to be an unbelievably tight relationship to produce such a catalog of brilliant music in a 6 year period.
