I've read statements from drummers who worked with Lennon in the 70's that he'd sometimes ask them to try to sound like Ringo. Which was damned near impossible seeing that Ringo is left handed.
+GondarthReturns Yes that Ringo trademark, unique sound, and the fact that he make his flaws strengths. He know how to sit the song, he is not a viruoso like Moon or Bonham, but each hit in the drums was made to make the song better and soulful. He is a great drummer.
Diego Núñez As someone that loves playing drums, and hopes to make a career out of it, I just find it incredibly offensive when someone calls Ringo the worst musician or drummer ever... My quick meeting Ringo story: Even though quick, this is indeed true: I'm thinking it must've been around 1981 or so (when I was still riding a motorcycle everywhere and hadn't gotten a car yet) and I was stopped at a stoplight, at (if I'm not mistaken) or very close to the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Laurel Canyon in LA/Hollywood (if you were to go to Google maps you would see that Laurel Canyon goes north and Cahuenga Boulevard goes South, at that point). There to my left is a beautiful convertible - a black (I think that was the color) Mercedes 450 SL (one of my favorite cars of the era) and so I look to see who the driver is and ... damned if it isn't Ringo Starr! To his right in the passenger seat was his wife at the time, Barbara Bach (I think at that time I may have recognized her from the James Bond film she was in). I gave a nod and maybe a little wave and said, "Hi" (their top was down and I was on a motorcycle's - we were both "convertible") and he gave me a little nod and a wave I think may have said hi back ... and right about then, the light turned green… ... And there is my true Ringo story. Talk about an indelible memory!
A Beatle who sought no unwarranted fame. A gentle soul, a great drummer, and a true friend to John, George, and Paul. We love you, Ringo. Always will. Come to my home for lobsters on the deck, and I won't ask for your autograph. Ellen can come too.
Ringo was a working professional before the other Beatles. He was the oldest and known to the others as very smart, witty and lovable. Don't ever underestimate the quick tongued Ringo. He overcame serious medical adversity as a young person.
evomoralesCO THE BEATLES Formed: 1957, Liverpool, England; Disbanded 1970 Members: 1) George Harold Harrison, lead guitar, vocals (born Liverpool, England, 25 February 1943; died Los Angeles, California, 29 November 2001); 2) John Winston (later changed to Ono) Lennon, rhythm guitar, harmonica, vocals (born Liverpool, England, 9 October 1940; died New York, 8 December 1980); 3) James "Paul" McCartney, bass, vocals (born Liverpool, England, 18 June 1942); 4) Ringo Starr, drums (Richard Starkey Jr., born Dingle, England, 7 July 1940). Former members: 5)Peter "Pete" Best, drums (born Liverpool, England, 24 November 1941); 6)Stuart "Stu" Sutcliffe, bass (Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe, born Edinburgh, Scotland, 23 June 1940; died Hamburg, West Germany, 10 April 1962). As you can see, Ringo was about 3 months older than John. I did not list Yoko Ono's vital statistics in the interest of world peace and because she wasn't a Beatle. Many find Joko's very present to be offensive; I have no comment.
+Vito Guttilla Exactly. And someone who was reliable and methodical and skilled with a low-key personality like Ringo was what the Beatles needed for a drummer. One of the reasons why they gave Pete Best the sack wasn't just because he wasn't good enough at drumming, but also because he was arrogant and didn't get along with the others.

He has such British humour I love it. I watched a behind the scenes of making the Cirque du Soleil show LOVE (highly recommended - it's amazing!) and they talked to Paul and he said something along the lines of "I'm one of FOUR GUYS in the WORLD who can say they were a Beatle. And now I can appreciate it as a work of art, it's done, we're finished. I can look back and say, 'Wow, we really were f**king great.'" I thought it was a fantastic quote.
Desmond Bagley they weren’t Beatles. They were replaced. The Beatles could’ve never become the iconic masterminds without the Paul Ringo John and George.
"We're doing it so Paul can have a day out" 😂 Ringo has always had a killer sense of humour. Ringo and George (God rest his soul) were by far my favourite Beatles. I always loved the friendship between them and Eric Clapton even after stormy waters. All 3 of them have never lost their common touch.
Ringo looks young because he has a good sense of humor. He smiles a lot, laughs a lot and he is enjoying and appreciating life. He's always excited at doing things.

N.K. Revolution Well okay N.K., I respectfully disagree...particularly given the sheer volume + variety of songs written/produced by them, for themselves & others, within a relatively short span of time...then there's the influence they had, literally on the world...groundbreaking in many respects...your word 'popular' just doesn't do them justice...in my opinion. You say there's been a 'better' band...you just know I have to ask who LOL!
N.K. Revolution I didn't even know they existed until you said so... whether you think they might be more popular. People aren't going to remember those bands generations from now. The Beatles however? Every generation will and has at least heard of them. It's quite simple really
Anthony King they played together on some new songs for Ringos new album that has yet to be released.... that's about all we've got since you commented I'm Adelaide.

THOM. You know... *_Thomas & Friends!_*
Ring 74 years old? I just realized how old I really am. Sheesh!
can you believe that ?? he looks 30 + years younger!
He easily looks 20 years younger than he actually is. Crazy...
Also kinda hilarious that back in the 60s, Paul was the "cute one" while Ringo was a little dopey looking.
But now, Paul looks like Angela Lansbury and Ringo looks fit and trim and young. Funny how that worked out.
avedic Angela Lansbury! I always thought he looked like SOME woman but couldn't think of who! That's IT! Murder she wrote. lol Thank you! That is so funny. I've always thought that he reminded me of a women. Wow.
OneVeryHappyBird same age as me. 😫😭
OneVeryHappyBird I
Paul = the voice
John = the mind
George = the soul
Ringo = the nose
Paul was the mind too
paul was heart
and paul john n george all were voices
the beat
Ringo was the beat
I've read statements from drummers who worked with Lennon in the 70's that he'd sometimes ask them to try to sound like Ringo. Which was damned near impossible seeing that Ringo is left handed.
+Murray Melander Well, it's not that he was a lefty. It was really because Ringo was a lefty playing righty.
+GondarthReturns I can guess what you're trying to say but he's indeed a lefty. He's however playing on a right handed kit.
littlemissmello Yep... Hence why I said lefty playing righty... It's essentially the same thing. It probably made him the magician that he is
+GondarthReturns Yes that Ringo trademark, unique sound, and the fact that he make his flaws strengths.
Heck, you think of a harsh criticism against Ringo, and it's hurtful to me. The man was an absolute drumming God. They just fail to see it.
He looks way younger than 74 tbh..!
He is vegan for a long time..they stop eating meat since they went India long time ago I think...I might be wrong but that's what I remembered
..hm do you think that has something to do with it?
youmeandi100 it does.
youmeandi100 I recently met a guy who was 75 years old, and looked about 50, he said that he smoked weed for 50 years and also was vegan for a long time.
Vanya Estefania Navarrete also the lighting on Ellen's show +makeup+ hair dye+ cleverly placed sunglasses to hide wrinkles
He did that so good it sounded just like Paul “hey ringo”
Yes😂
Ringo is so down to earth, I love him so

My quick meeting Ringo story:
Even though quick, this is indeed true: I'm thinking it must've been around 1981 or so (when I was still riding a motorcycle everywhere and hadn't gotten a car yet) and I was stopped at a stoplight, at (if I'm not mistaken) or very close to the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Laurel Canyon in LA/Hollywood (if you were to go to Google maps you would see that Laurel Canyon goes north and Cahuenga Boulevard goes South, at that point).
I gave a nod and maybe a little wave and said, "Hi" (their top was down and I was on a motorcycle's - we were both "convertible") and he gave me a little nod and a wave I think may have said hi back ... and right about then, the light turned green…
... And there is my true Ringo story. Talk about an indelible memory!
Not only WAS Barbara his wife then, she REMAINS his wife today. Her sister is married to Eagles’ guitar genius Joe Walsh.
Awesome!!!
I thought you said it was a quick story....
Baka Ringo Honasan HAHAH
Nice story! (But you use these too much)
Ringo Starr was the narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends during the 1980s and the 1990s
Nine too he was the best
Same here!
Really?
Yes, and good too.
Really?!
A Beatle who sought no unwarranted fame. A gentle soul, a great drummer, and a true friend to John, George, and Paul. We love you, Ringo. Always will. Come to my home for lobsters on the deck, and I won't ask for your autograph. Ellen can come too.
PRR5406 nice one Eileen, no Pens !
PRR5406 i want lobster too
My mom was one of screaming girls at Shea stadium. To this day she has no clue how my Grandpa got her in. They drove to ny without tickets.
I think it's bizarre that Ringo is in his 70s, but he looks a bit younger, like about mid-40s.
Ringling looks great! Not 75. He eats well and probably works out every day!
Sorry misprint! Ringo
75?!?!??! Ya joking! Oh my god! He looks like 48 - 58
Time has been good to him!
Ringo was a working professional before the other Beatles. He was the oldest and known to the others as very smart, witty and lovable. Don't ever underestimate the quick tongued Ringo. He overcame serious medical adversity as a young person.
+GTown Dave
Isn't he the same age as John?
evomoralesCO THE BEATLES
Formed: 1957, Liverpool, England; Disbanded 1970
Members:
1) George Harold Harrison, lead guitar, vocals (born Liverpool, England, 25 February 1943; died Los Angeles, California, 29 November 2001);
2) John Winston (later changed to Ono) Lennon, rhythm guitar, harmonica, vocals (born Liverpool, England, 9 October 1940; died New York, 8 December 1980);
3) James "Paul" McCartney, bass, vocals (born Liverpool, England, 18 June 1942);
4) Ringo Starr, drums (Richard Starkey Jr., born Dingle, England, 7 July 1940). Former members:
5)Peter "Pete" Best, drums (born Liverpool, England, 24 November 1941);
6)Stuart "Stu" Sutcliffe, bass (Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe, born Edinburgh, Scotland, 23 June 1940; died Hamburg, West Germany, 10 April 1962).
As you can see, Ringo was about 3 months older than John. I did not list Yoko Ono's vital statistics in the interest of world peace and because she wasn't a Beatle. Many find Joko's very present to be offensive; I have no comment.
GTown Dave
Like I said, they were the same age. I knew both were born in 1940 and that McCartney was born in 42.
"George Harold Harrison" No, George had no middle name.

+Agent Orange one of my favourite beatles songs Rain is a ringo song and its FANTASTIC

Ringo is famous for three things:
Beatles, Thomas and Friends and ✌️
Not to mention the fact that he does this at the end of every post
“❤️☮️✌🏻🐘🍒🥦❤️”
Ringo Starch the broccoli is the absolute best part
And Nose
"So, were doing it so Paul can have a day out... " I can imagine Lennon and Harrison laughing at that.
It made me lol!
Scouse humour
"We're doing it so Paul can have a day out" 😂 Ringo has always had a killer sense of humour. Ringo and George (God rest his soul) were by far my favourite Beatles. I always loved the friendship between them and Eric Clapton even after stormy waters. All 3 of them have never lost their common touch.
Paul and Ringo have always been my favourites and I loved Ringo's little joke at Paul's expense - kind of like a reading his brother.
Ringo should have gotten into it sooner! Him and Paul are living legends!! They helped shape the meaning of rock
The Beatles are my all time favorite band. I love seeing Ringo & Paul active in the music world today. Rest in peace George & John.

He's one of the most famous, successful, and beloved entertainers in history--how exactly is he underrated?
Ringo looks young because he has a good sense of humor. He smiles a lot, laughs a lot and he is enjoying and appreciating life. He's always excited at doing things.
So great seeing him on Ellen! Was lucky enough to see him in concert. He's still got it with releasing a new album.
He’s still incredible and what a humble guy, I love him 😍

Ringo looks great! Still fab after all these years.
The Beatles music saved my life when i was younger. Im 23 now and still here ❤
Good for you! As life goes on, try some Led Zeppelin.
There will NEVER be another Beatles! Congratulations to Ringo!
There will never be a band as popular as them but there will be and arguably has been a band that is better (just my opinion)
SweetDreams706 The smiths, nirvana, radiohead (maybe) the list goes on
N.K. Revolution I didn't even know they existed until you said so... whether you think they might be more popular. People aren't going to remember those bands generations from now. The Beatles however? Every generation will and has at least heard of them. It's quite simple really
SweetDreams706 *Pete Best has left the chat*
This guy is 75 years old!! Holy shit!!
Ringo has always been so much fun to listen to. What a personality! Many current musicians lack this appeal. Real talent includes it.

Him and Paul should perform again. For real idk why they havent done this more

What is the meaning of that?
John was a prophet and Paul and George are/were musical genii, and Ringo was the best Beatle
Genii ?
He just seems like such a fun guy to hang out with and have some laughs. One of the greatest rock drummers of all time.
he's so charismatic its so cute lol
They all were. That's one of the things about the Beatles, even before you add the amazing music.
Love you Ringo. You ARE a part of music history. Keep rocking.
Ringo is the best. Iconic drummer (and I've been a drummer for 60+ years), and just an all-around cool guy.
Ringo so Funny

I grew up in the 60s, saw The Beatles on Ed Sullivan and
19 months later, I saw them in concert on my 9th b-day !
It was a cultural phenomenon. I feel very lucky to have seen this happen. Beatles4Ever
I was Damn lucky to see Ringo and Paul together here in Nyc for Ringo's 70th birthday July 7th 2010. I had a little taste of Beatlemania, I'll never forget it. Ringo Starr Legend !

+Aimee lieks Llamas And rightly so!! Congratulations!! What is so ironic about how healthy and good Ringo looks at his age, he is (was) the oldest of all 4 Beatles, and when he was a child he was so ill/sick, doctor's thought he would not live much longer. Think he had 5 -7 operations as a child. So, one never knows what the final outcome will be. God Bless him!

Happy 79th birthday Ringo! Peace and love indeed.
All of their old interviews are so like my favourite bands these days.. we think because they are iconic, it doesn’t mean the don’t still say silly or somewhat angry things to interviewers that create an iconic era idol.

I liked seeing him he makes my heart smile. I haven’t seen any of The Beatles movies in years and I use to enjoy them. I am so lucky that my grandkids have the music from the sixties and seventies in their veins
