@Oni32 Valve ran out of time and resources and needed to get the game out, so they chopped and pared down most of what they had originally planned for Xen, so it became more of an epilogue than a chapter. Finished the game few weeks ago I have to say that XEN looks so amazing, 5 years of work on XEN was SOOOOO worth it in my opinion This just shows how a great bunch of people can make a great game or in this case remake a game and make it 100 times better than the original
Got chills from this trailer. They even used my favorite music track from Xen. Congratulations to Crowbar collective for making their dream a reality after all these years. And what a beautiful dream it is.
Half-life Alyx is basically everything Half-life 3 would have been, just without being a sequel. It's a decent holdover for when/if they do get around to Half-Life 3.
One of the best games I ever played, Xen itself was just a breathtaking masterpiece, seeing you guys finally releasing 1.0 is incredibly inspirational, kudos!
Man, I have so many emotions watching this trailer. 21 years ago, a generation of kids grew up with the original Half-Life 15 years ago, another generation of kids grew up with Half-Life 2 Then there was a hiatus for more than a decade. Some of the same kids that played Half-Life years ago now have become fathers and husbands. We thought Half-Life was left 4 dead and decayed (puns intended). But just like Gordon Freeman himself, Half-Life is immortal. The memory of Half-Life is just so emotional and intense in the hearts of its fans, so much that we waited for so many years. Some of us died waiting, some of us became hopeless. But after so many years, we now have this masterpiece, and Valve has come back to make a prequel, deservedly a masterpiece by itself as well. I don't know how many times I've played Half-Life and its expansions. And I don't care. I will play more and more in the future. Half-Life isn't just a game. It is modern art. Its greatness lies in its immortality: people are still making and talking about Half-Life games to this day, 21 years after the first one came out. Old fans rejoice, new fans are welcome to the series. That's a reputation the greatest FPS game of all time rightfully deserves. I fucking cried when I saw this trailer. It's 15 years of work by a company that used to be a small, independent team of guys who loved Half-Life and developed this game using that love and passion. I can never thank Crowbar Collective enough for making this. I was 14 years old when the 2008 trailer came out, and never gave up hope on you guys. I'm sure many of us did, too. I will buy this game, appreciate it and love it the way its meant to be loved and appreciated by its makers. I'm ready to be back in the test chamber and unleash the Resonance Cascade again. Video games are art; Half-Life proved it, Black Mesa redefined it.
This guy wrote exactly what I fucking feel for the Half-Life Franchise. I was born the same year Half-Life came out, and it was my first video game. Yearly I replay these games, because I just love it so much. Hell my username nearly everywhere is "Vortigon" playing slightly off of my favorite fictional race the Vortigaunts. Half-Life has and forever will be a part of my life, and I'm so happy that 21 years later, it still gets looked at favorably by nearly all gamers!
reading this made me almost cry! crowbar collective brought all the real gamers back from the dead, and unite them together. all my life i was waited for a game that i will love more than Half-Life. it never happened. i was 10 years old when the original Half-Life was released, and since then i am addicted to this, i've played this game so many times in my life that i can imagine the whole game in my head. since then, years have passed, i played hundreds of games, so many titles. so many platforms, so many stories... nothing, just absolutely nothing could bring me the same feeling as playing half life. nothing could make me feel like 10 years old me, amazed by the new game called Half-Life. now, when i'm 31 years old, a working hard married man, i can finally feel like a kid again. crowbar collective did much more than just remaking Half-Life, they revive our dying soul and brought us back to life, it's been so many years since i felt so much joy in my life, playing black mesa make me feel like i'm back to be 10 years old again, playing Half-Life on my Pentium 3 at my parents house. on those days when i had nothing to worry about in my life... man now i understand why this trailer made me cry.

When Covid and confinment were kings, it might be the end of the world but we don't care ; Half life Franchise come back in force after his long slumber.
Wow!!!!! Just WOW!!!!! Congratulations, y'all! What an astounding accomplishment. That y'all took on this labor of love to build something like this, that Valve blessed it, and that you succeeded in finishing -- finishing!! -- after, what, 16 years of development now? It's unimaginable. Hats off to you. I remember the first announcement for the mod all those years ago. The initial screenshots. I was impressed, but I was skeptical it would ever come out. I remember opening the site in a background tab and hearing Joel Nielsen's soundtrack for the first time. I dropped what I was doing, found the tab, and just sat and listened. Gobsmackingly gorgeous music! I was moved. It was a "moment" for me; as much as instrumental music tends to impact me, I expect I'll remember that moment and that theme for the rest of my life. And in the trailer, I hear that theme has carried on. Makes my heart happy. :) I remember playing that first half of the game when it was finally released, and I was blown away. It was stunning! Everything I wanted it to be and more. As people have said about the FFVII Remake: "This is the way we all imagined it in our heads when we played the original!" It brought back so many memories of yesteryear and time with friends (both in discussion, playing individually in the same room, and playing together via Sven Co-op). The remastered elements were done with such painstaking care, and the new and reimagined elements were so faithful to the style and spirit of the original game. It was such a joy to play. I remember reaching the end and thinking "well, they'll never finish Xen; that's probably the hardest part!" But then I remember seeing the breathtaking trailer for the reimagined Xen, and being in awe. And now, the game is complete! What a journey! What an massive, epic accomplishment! Y'all are heroes! :D I'm currently at a stage in life where I likely won't be able to enjoy this full version of the game for at least several years. I won't complain; I'm happy enough with where my life is. But I eagerly await the chance to sit down and play, and enjoy, and savor this experience you've created. Well done!!!
you guys picked the best song for the trailer. i’m glad to have reviewed this game and experience Half-Life for the very first time. congrats on the full release CC
I'm pretty sure this project was started purely because Half-Life: Source was disappointing, so a couple of people decided to do it themselves. And thus, this beauty was made.
I did a full playthrough of this game sometime January/February this year, after Xen came out and the story was complete. Right after I finished it, I claimed it as the best video game I've ever played. Well done, CC. It's finally here.... i've waited an entire decade for this, when they came out with xen beta, i played it for a little bit about 3 months back but you know you gotta wait for a masterpiece like this if it's relating to half life.
This makes me realize just how Horrifying Half-Life 1 actually was. Hope to buy the game soon now that it's finished

I waited for this when it was just a mod, I played it when it was just a mod. I supported this when it became more than a mod. Thank you, this game is incredible.
I’m watching this over and over right now. This launch trailer shows every amazing moment in this game, and I am just stunned from how it’s compiled along with the music.

Most amazing part was all those trash SJW promoter sites that was in it.

Why would someone put those trash sites in their promotion, I have no idea. Game is good tho, no complains.
The only way to show every amazing moment in BM is to show its complete playthrough.
Not sure how many times I've watched this trailer at this point
Likely won't watch this one as many times as I watched the Xen trailer. That is, and will likely always be one of the most beautiful reveals ever. I was so emotional while watching it I almost shed a tear. The huge wait was worth it. :)
Congratulations you earned a new achievement:

I can't express how much this trailer affected me. Half-Life was the first PC game I ever played and 22 years later is still my favorite game of all time. This trailer made me BAWL my eyes out. It hit me on an emotional level that I didn't think possible. Thank you Crowbar Collective. Thank you.
You should probably do your math again...

IvanVladimir04 I know right? Can’t believe someone would go on the internet and make a typo! 😔
Same for me, and now half-life Alyx too? I told myself I couldnt afford a VR headset over and over but im biting the bullet anyway. I remember going through some dark times and having something to look forward too really kept me from becoming depressed. Always browsing the valvetime forums etc etc., Finally here we are. Black Mesa release and Half-life : Alyx. Almost feel as if though I made it.

Great trailer guys. I have to say, my computer can't do those effects even on a good day, so bravo to the whoever through this together! Quite impressive in many ways! 10/10
To think I've seen this develop throughout 16 years, for it to finally be complete is amazing.
We are freaking out right now just like scientists in Black Mesa xD
except the last thing we'd want to tell them is "Nooooooooo!" or "STAHP!"
Finished the game few weeks ago
I have to say that XEN looks so amazing, 5 years of work on XEN was SOOOOO worth it in my opinion
This just shows how a great bunch of people can make a great game or in this case remake a game and make it 100 times better than the original
The best remake of the world's best made game
Got chills from this trailer. They even used my favorite music track from Xen. Congratulations to Crowbar collective for making their dream a reality after all these years. And what a beautiful dream it is.

Just like Gordon Freeman himself, lol.
I played a while ago and the Xen part is astonising. Really, blown away.
Thanks for making this. For a long time, we thought this was gonna be the only new HL content until the reveal of Alyx. Here's to a great year!
One of the best games I ever played, Xen itself was just a breathtaking masterpiece, seeing you guys finally releasing 1.0 is incredibly inspirational, kudos!

Man, I have so many emotions watching this trailer.
21 years ago, a generation of kids grew up with the original Half-Life
15 years ago, another generation of kids grew up with Half-Life 2
Then there was a hiatus for more than a decade.
/applause
This guy wrote exactly what I fucking feel for the Half-Life Franchise. I was born the same year Half-Life came out, and it was my first video game. Yearly I replay these games, because I just love it so much. Hell my username nearly everywhere is "Vortigon" playing slightly off of my favorite fictional race the Vortigaunts. Half-Life has and forever will be a part of my life, and I'm so happy that 21 years later, it still gets looked at favorably by nearly all gamers!
reading this made me almost cry! crowbar collective brought all the real gamers back from the dead, and unite them together. all my life i was waited for a game that i will love more than Half-Life. it never happened. i was 10 years old when the original Half-Life was released, and since then i am addicted to this, i've played this game so many times in my life that i can imagine the whole game in my head. since then, years have passed, i played hundreds of games, so many titles. so many platforms, so many stories... nothing, just absolutely nothing could bring me the same feeling as playing half life. nothing could make me feel like 10 years old me, amazed by the new game called Half-Life. now, when i'm 31 years old, a working hard married man, i can finally feel like a kid again. crowbar collective did much more than just remaking Half-Life, they revive our dying soul and brought us back to life, it's been so many years since i felt so much joy in my life, playing black mesa make me feel like i'm back to be 10 years old again, playing Half-Life on my Pentium 3 at my parents house. on those days when i had nothing to worry about in my life... man now i understand why this trailer made me cry.
i was 2 when the last half life game came out. now i'm 14.
stop being a gay loser
1:43 this part is absolutely NUTS holy shit! I remember when this game first started development, I'm somehow almost oddly proud of how far it's come. An amazing job
Damn i remember this 2 year ago with alyx trailer
When Covid and confinment were kings, it might be the end of the world but we don't care ; Half life Franchise come back in force after his long slumber.
This trailer has me hyped for a game I've already spent ~250 hours in.
We love you crowbar collective, thank you for giving us this amazing remake
Thank Valve for being sane and not trying to ban or madly copyright this masterpiece.
I remember playing that first half of the game when it was finally released, and I was blown away. I remember reaching the end and thinking "well, they'll never finish Xen; that's probably the hardest part!"
But then I remember seeing the breathtaking trailer for the reimagined Xen, and being in awe.
And now, the game is complete! What a journey! What an massive, epic accomplishment! Y'all are heroes! :D
I'm currently at a stage in life where I likely won't be able to enjoy this full version of the game for at least several years.
Oh my God, I got chills when I heard the original theme at the end there.
Keep in mind that this game was made by a just a small group of modders who just said, "Ayo, wouldn't a half life remake be cool?"
I'm pretty sure this project was started purely because Half-Life: Source was disappointing, so a couple of people decided to do it themselves. And thus, this beauty was made.
Best remake ❤
I did a full playthrough of this game sometime January/February this year, after Xen came out and the story was complete. Right after I finished it, I claimed it as the best video game I've ever played.
Well done, CC. Your team is extremely talented, and I have no doubt that you may become one of the most acclaimed studios of all time.
Take notes Blizzard, THIS IS HOW YOU DO A REMAKE & REMASTER RIGHT!

"Welcome to black mesa , after 15 years of development hopefully it was worth the wait!"
I think Valve is starting to realize just how much Half Life means to us.
we've come a long, long way. i still remember getting my hands on half-life shortly after it's release. i remember the announcement of this project, 15? years ago now?? time is crazy. i'm just really happy a newer generation of gamers get to experience half-life. hurry up, you're late for your shift.
