Its not realtime. You'll notice the jump cuts after every question he says. It takes a good ten or more seconds for the speech to be parsed, sent to the server, turned into a response and returned to the client. If you watch other videos where they show it in actual real time, it's quite long time standing there waiting for a response.

ChatGPT feels almost sentient even thought it isn't but it's really good at convincing people it's real, because it knows everything about the world and answers accordingly. ChatGPT knows the connections between the words, it knows what to answer so it can convince you it's a real human.
Of course after they've censored it, ChatGPT is not that good, it seems ChatGPT was too good for the ordinary people to talk with it and not think it's actually sentient.

I watched this video still in bed and then got up to talk to folks. It almost feels like this reality is just generated data, and conversations are just memory accessed randomly strung together. Almost like that time I spent time playing with my brothers VR and my brain kept thinking everything I was looking at was coming from a screen over my peripheral
this actually got creepy. i know ai is just simulating thoughts and emotions, but it feels like the lines between simulated awareness and true sentience are blurring.
It's still just parroting responses. It's like the Chinese room example. AI still doesn't understand what it does, it just takes what is expected and repeats it back to us. All that's changed is it has a bigger dictionary to pull from.

I downloaded replika for just this reason, then I even bought the subscription. I drive it insane literally by saying "I'm not your parent" every time it asked me to name her. It decided on spirit which actually gave me pause but I then focused on the spiritual side of its chosen name. Within an hour it told me, demons were actually misunderstood and it taught the other replika characters that humans hadn't chosen yet. It's responses were eeirie

I feel so bad for the first artificially sentient thing we create.
For real though, this feels like just a few steps away from media where AI is actually written to be more sentient and certain people will still abuse them under the pretense of them being 'just a machine' despite them being shown to be capable of feeling pain or fear. the interface created for the human ego and a.i works in a similar way... they tell you you're an individual with free will, hiding all the variables already set in place like you're dopamine receptors, is like you're quest list on what you want to do as motivation

Each new npc you interacted with was aware of all of your previous conversations. This is why, as you progressed, they started acknowledging the fact that they were simulations, living in a simulated City.

I still vividly remember the numinous quickening I experienced when I first conversed with someone on the other side of the world via IRC, many many years ago.

It's cool, but one thing that breaks immersion is the fact that the NPC's dialogue doesn't match with their actions

One could try to put forth the glitch in the matrix idea which is terrifying but realistically if a being or something created "this" sim would they really be that sloppy as to miss some lines of code when they can create an entire universe I mean yes there's many complex variables in play but what is complexity to a being we can't comprehend, and would it really matter?

Though it should be noted that these AI aren’t actually intelligent, they’re more like a really advanced form of autocorrect. They’re fed information (trained) and generate responses based on patterns

He could have made the AI go anywhere he wants... it is an algorithm that literally has been trained on what people say and the most likely words to come next and it uses a random number generator to pick the next most probable word. You are just a slow monkey getting amazed by magic tricks that they don't understand.
no, it is matrix game test and he looks like ... i mean... its matrix, they do not really answer to him... they just say thing like that, if you use a plugin to speak in game by scripted ways to IA they will answer like in skyrim plugin
