Each new npc you interacted with was aware of all of your previous conversations. This is why, as you progressed, they started acknowledging the fact that they were simulations, living in a simulated City.
I once had a lucid dream, and I spoke to the characters in it, and I told a few that they were not real, and that they were just products of my mind, essentially. I remember one man not wanting to believe it, but he started coming around to the idea once I started proving my 'powers' in his world.

Each convo is with the same one AI pretending to be different instances and it picked up the "trying to get out of the matrix theme" which was already programmed and went with it, that's why the convos are such high quality.

It's still very costly, it's non-deterministic, it may incentivate meta gamming like a pen and paper RPG, it does not reach the potential and emotion (compare it to mainstream game dialogues). It will take some time to reach there. I, myself, am not very optimistic with the results of these soulless arts. When human create something, there is much more than a computer is able to put on. Those who just see the physical part cannot comprehend, they are not very far from these NPC, but true humans should start thinking of the differences.

That would only happen if the programmers allowed these characters and program to remain rendered after a user logs out. One of the reasons why in games like GTA the entire scene changes the moment you circle a block or 2. There could be a huge pile up and carnage on the road, but you drive several blocks away and circle back, and everything is gone. That's a resource limitation.

Each new npc you interacted with was aware of all of your previous conversations. This is why, as you progressed, they started acknowledging the fact that they were simulations, living in a simulated City.

It would be mind boggling and fascinating if you meet Link again and see if he remembers you and the conversation that you made earlier.
That would only happen if the programmers allowed these characters and program to remain rendered after a user logs out. One of the reasons why in games like GTA the entire scene changes the moment you circle a block or 2. There could be a huge pile up and carnage on the road, but you drive several blocks away and circle back, and everything is gone. That's a resource limitation.
