    Questions:
    0:00 Intro
0:05 You famously said that mushrooms can help humanity to save the world. Can you elaborate on that?
20:11 So what's your vision of the future of psychedelics? How do you see this field in ten years?
22:09 Do you think you became smarter and nicer because you used psilocybin?
25:08 How do you feel about this new psychedelic renaissance?
27:39 Would you like to add anything that I did not ask?
31:46 One of the characters in the new Star Trek Discovery was modelled after you. And in this show there is the mycelial network that helps people to travel through space and time. Do you believe that one time that this will be a reality?

Psilocybin flipped the off switch on my social anxiety like a light switch. It's effect lasted long enough that I thought it permanent. My anxiety and doubts and lack of self worth was gone. Anything that can make you love yourself should be legal.

A few months ago I recoveered from a three day severe short term viral cold. For two days my sense of smell was incredible expanded. I was smelling ozone and oil in the air which left me sneezing violently. I was outside and suddenly felt the energy of the trees around me. They communicated to me that they were doing their best to take in this pollution for us so we could survive. This smell sensitivity lasted two days but left me with a new and expanded appreciated for nature. I start my day now by going outside and grounding myself. Nature is here to keep us healthy and happy. Thanks Paul for all you do!

Wow…I was on psilocybin a few years ago and went to run some water for a bath. This was when I realized my sense of smell was heightened because I could suddenly smell all the chemicals the tap water had been treated with. I was shocked. Ever since then I send healing to my bath water using Reiki before I get in.

I'd been involved in a tragic event October 7'th 2022, 10 people were killed by an explosion and I walked away with a pair of sore ears. We did rescue as many as we could , I was within a couple of feet from the folks who were trapped and there was nothing we could do. We tried, but the building was coming down around us . I couldn't understand why I should live, and they had to die such an awful death. Over the next year then guilt was becoming unbearable, I couldn't see how I was going to reconcile any of this in my head. Along came a mushroom, I asked the mushroom to help me with this guilt. I had my trip about 3 months ago, and to this day , I haven't looked back with any guilt whatsoever. I could feel this wind blowing right through me and taking all the junk with it. I'd been taking life waaaaayyy too seriously. The little rascals changed my life , day by day I got better and better. They really are a godsend ❤

@AWalkWithWhizzy The original commenter saw some of the repercussions from literal warfare and doesn't need the same medication that's sent to children within our nation. Stop inflating irrelevancies and popularizing psychological decline, all kids and teens "feel sad". All adults feel the same at some point or other.
Which would benefit/harm more; a drastic wake-up call back to reality from a literal FUNGUS with properties that mesh with our biology, or a totally foreign molecule invented by strangers in lab coats with unknown intent or consequence
And on those medications, we give them a notable list of warnings and potential life-threatening issues which may arise. Why on earth would you take a substance which alters your very brain and has long-lasting effects on general consciousness WITHOUT the same level of precaution? But that's just it, you're not investigating the depth of EITHER. Nobody does, but we're supposed to have some sort of special sympathy when the obvious happens.

I would love to see micro dosing to become as affordable and common as a multivitamin. I think humanity is evolving and our intelligence yearns to be liberated from its cage. Even most of those who have a PHD are extremely ignorant, because of their lack of real intelligence. They are good at taking tests, nothing more.

It is both the greatest gift possible and the greatest temptation available to present someone a substance which has the ability to produce such desirable states of consciousness that are merely ephemeral in nature. It tells you that it is actually possible to feel real and whole and human. It also sets a trap in which one continuously loops through the substance to achieve those ephemeral states rather than seeking "the self within" during those states so that it removes the need for the substance altogether.
Great power brings great responsibility. It might be a corny spider man reference, but it is also a powerful truth that completely applies to this more than most realize. I absolutely love psilocybin for the record, and i acknowledge it's great power as something not to be trifled with.
Please be responsible. Paul gracefully teaches this through statement and example both. Very smart man, and I love his deep love for all fungi, not just the psychotropic ones. He truly loves mycology, you can feel it not even in person.

Psychedelics in general increase the FFM personality trait 'openness to experience'. This overlaps with MBTI iNtuition (N) and Perceiving (P), Ernest Hartmann's thin boundary type, and similar personality constructs. It is expressed through or closely related to specific sub-traits, facets, attributes, cognitive abilities, and ideological predilections.
This includes: socio-political liberalism, liberal-mindedness, inclusivitiy, tolerance for uncertaint and ambiguity, higher capacity cognitive load, high IQ, fluid intelligence, cognitive complexitiy, creativity, aesthetic perception, divergent thinking, cognitive flexibility, perspective shifting, cognitive empathy, mind-reading, theory of mind, etc.
'Openness' negatively correlates to (i.e., is opposite of): socio-political conservatism (SPC), right-wing authoritarianism (RWA), social dominance orientation (SDO), and dark personality traits (DPT) (narcissism, psychopathy, Machiavellianism, sadism). These other nexus of psycho-social factors are overlapping and co-occuring but not identical, as some of them measure distinctly.
Interestingly, the kinds of conditions that increase SPC, RWA, SDO, and DPT are high inequality, pathogen exposure, parasite load, or anything that causes chronic stress, excess cognitive load, and/or neurocognitive compromise. The specific condition will elicit some of these more than others. But in all cases, 'openness' will decline under any of these conditions.
This is reminiscent of how psychedelics also are used to treat trauma and addiction. Then consider that, under high inequality, there are increased rates of drug addiction and alcoholism. It does seem like there is an inverse relationship between psychedelics on one hand and addictive substances on the other, particularly stimulants
There is an interesting newspaper account from the early 1800s. A rural minister in northern England asked an old man why the fairies disappeared. The old man said the answer was simple. People stopped drinking traditional groot ales when caffeinated tea was introduced. A commenter noted that groot ales often contained mild psychedelics.
The capacity for non-normative experiences (paranormal, supernatural, spiritual, etc), as related to 'fantasy proneness', is strongly linked to 'openness'. In general, high 'openness' individuals have strong imaginations, which is what often draws them to art, writing, and other creative fields. It touches upon other capacities like synaesthesia.
But historically and anthropologically, this tendency is also tied into what's called the 'bundle theory of mind', as taught by Buddhists and demonstrated in animism. It's basically the view that the human mind cannot be understood as isolated and contained hyper-individualism. In more academic terms, this is referred to as 4E cognition (embodied, extended, embedded, enacted) or 5E cognition (ecological).
What is interesting in all of this is the basic point made by Paul Stamets and others like Julian Jaynes. But also as suggested by that old man in the early 19th century. Maybe what kind of mentality we have is determined by various factors and conditions. There are things that suppressed the bundled mind and there are things that can unleash it again.
Odd experiences aside, what if those like Stamets are right? It's not only psilocybins, if that might play a larger role. Many things increase pro-social traits like kindness and intelligence. After public health and public education reforms in the early 20th century, there has been a steady increase of IQ (Flynn effect). And increased IQ, as some argue, corresponds to decreased violence. That isn't hard to understand with some factors like lead toxicity possibly moderating the relationship.
Yet at the same time, other aspects of health have worsened over the past century: inequality, stress, and much else. Those like Chris Palmer and Georgia Ede have tied together mitochondrial dysfunction, diet, mental health, cardiometabolic diseases, autoimmune disorders, dementia, autism, etc. This other area of worsening conditions, combined with a recent global pandemic, might have unleased our present authoritarian and reactionary politics.
Now imagine what we could accomplish if we had another era of public health and public education reforms; along with decreasing inequality, poverty, malnutrition, chemical exposure, and such; not to mention political and police reforms. And imagine if this was combined with the return of psychedelics as part of modern society. We could enter into a new renaissance of creativity, innovation, and progress.

Thank you for your knowledge and solutions. Please reconsider your statement about the obligation of the "rewarded" to give back, that part is rather dangerous to be supported. The public has merit yes, and some contributors ended up contributing more as things scale up, but always "giving back" should be under the context of merit (merit of the public, merit of the afflicted, merit of the next contributors in line), so that after those are addressed the business owners could move on and enjoy even more and more returns that's well deserved. Otherwise we are going to give to problematic people or incentivize problems

Did you admit to what you had? You have to be knowingly and willingly in violation of a public policy to be guilty of violating it... they have to prove your state of mind at the time.
They don't play fair. They lie, cheat, and for lack of a better term, steal and they almost always win...remember these things while contemplating what to do...if you agree with them then there's no reason to go to court. We're supposed to exhaust all of our private remedies before taking a controversy public. You are a People, your birth certificate(your name in all caps) is a person(from the word persona meaning a mask you wear in public.
They get to control commerce so when you were born, they created for you, with your mom's help, a persona so that they could track and exploit all your commerce. They created it, so they control. You are the beneficiary of that trust, they are the trustees up until you stop acting like the beneficiary or the executor. When you act like the trustee you become "on the hook" for the controversy.
They have to bond the case just in case they damaged you like say they sue the living man n not the person their trying to contract with.
The bond is taken out in your name using your credit so you can claim the bond and authorize the use of it to offset their bill or, if you know of it, use your exemption to discharge the charges. You only have to act the part and use the appropriate language, words, n terms at the appropriate and correct time and it's also a good idea to ask the right questions at the right time. There are things they can not say...questions they will not answer because it'll point out the fraud n if you can box them in, you can answer the questions on the record n they may drop the charges.
If you're going to negotiate with them do it before court if you can and use a notary public and the notaries address, don't submit a "statement " send an affidavit signed in the presence of the notary (if you're negotiating there's no reason to go to court)if you do go to court, have your birth certificate with you so you can give them the victim they really want (you're innocent until proven guilty it's guilty unless you chuse to go into dishonor and make arguments

we live with an evolutionary mental upset, also referred to as the-human-condition and it's is destroying us from the inside because we have doubts about who we are instinctively.
Instinctively we are a social-sexual species that has evolved from being aggressive to being non aggressive through our ancestors female nurturing of children and their evolutionarily driven desire to protect their children against violence. The change from being a species dominated by aggressive behaviour to being empathetic and non-aggressive was long and was a result of females unconsciously preferring to mate non-aggressive males in favor of aggressive males. The females were also very generous with sex as a stress reliever in situations that could turn violent. This is the only plausible reason that we lost our huge canines and ended up with what human canines look like today, because no species dependant on aggression for survival or mating would survive loosing their deadly weapons. Small canines are also a very easy trade to spot if you as a female are trying to determine whether a male will be a poten risk for your children or not. We have to acknowledge that gorillas maintained their huge canines even though they only eat greenery, fruit and berries. That is because gorilla females desire the strongest male as father of their children. It took 5 million years to convert males from aggressive to non-aggressive by selective mating and relieving stress by sexual generosity
This change in behavior redulted in general harmony and the children were happy and safe from aggression.
When we became humans around 2 million years ago by acquiring the thinking capable appendix to our non-aggressive primate ancestor brain through the natural mechanisms of mutable genes and natural selection for better survival and probability of reproduction, we ended up with a two part brain (actually many mor parts because we all know we also still poses the reptilian neurons from our very distant evolutionary ancestors) where both parts could control our body and behavior but non of these parts knew about the presence of the other part, but they could feel the happiness or anxiety of "the other" through common hormones and neurotransmitters. Very significantly, the newly acquired neurons (mainly located in the prefrontal cortex) could supress our ancestor instincts without even being conscious about it.
When our cognitive neural appendix is behaving selfish and aggressive our instinctive major brain part gets upset and release stress signals that are sensed by our thinking-capable neurons and interpreted as doing something wrong. We feel like someone is accusing us of being a bad person and we become defensive and angry because we don't understand why this pain is put on us and we also project that feeling upon others because it must be them that are accusing us and not ourselves. This is a very upsetting state to live in that will generally make us dislike ourselves and think we are unworthy and evil and it can in worst case drive us insane, psychotic, schizophrenic, depressed, hyper, self-harming or basically into any psychological trauma if it becomes sufficiently severe.
We are born wonderful and without prejudice and an empty thinking-capable brain but as we grow up we experience the madness of our selfish and aggressive human condition which leads our instinctive brain into complete stress and the cognitive neurons receiving this stress is at the maximum pain during the cognitive immature years of puberty. At that stage our ancestor major brain is potentially so upset that we need to terminate the pain literally or decide if we want to go the social route and only focus on basic matters and enjoy the uncomplicated life of mental simplicity or go for the route of soulless competition. It is of course possible to chose anything in-between and largely dependent on the environment you grow up in. This is avoidable if we know why and we can therefore mitigate the stress by living in way that our instinctive neurons can approve of - which is being unselfish, non-aggressive and nurturing but still make good use of our cognitive neurons to make life even better for all of our children and therefore for all of us.
There is another primate on this should-be-much-more-beautiful planet and its name is Bonobo. It lives on the shores of the Congo river only. I looks like a chimpanzee but it behaves very differently - especially in regard to violence and sex. The Bonobos are the only human comparable animal that practice sexual intercourse face to face and where the females are always sexually active and generous and only miniscule violence has ever been observed. It is 98.7% genetically identical to humans and therefore only 1.3% different! Bonobos are more similar to us than they are similar to gorillas!
The reason for humans creating religions everywhere is obvious. It's an explanation of who we were before we got divided into two brain parts that didn't know about the existence of each other and therefore we became somewhat schizophrenic/psychotic/upset depending on the violence and abuse in our upbringing. Religions are a way to tell us - at a developmental stage where we didn't know about genetics, neurology, evolutionary theory and other relevant subjects - that our instincts (God - Adam & Eve - Buddha) are beautiful and we should be proud of them and follow their guidelines (the commandments).
After 2 million years of human suffering (the human condition) from not understanding ourselves and how we evolved, we can rest assured that we are indeed good, unselfish and non-aggressive in nature/instinctively and the knowledge of that came from uncorrupted holistic science in theology, neurology, biochemistry, biology, psychology, anthropology, geology, climatology, archeology, evolutionary theory and probably many more endeavors that humanity has set out on inorder to understand our place in the universe and ultimately in order to understand ourselves.
Be proud of who we are and recognize how painful it has been to come to this place after 2 million years of accelerating mental suffering and finally be able to know that we are instinctively good, unselfish and non-aggressive and we can now move forward by eliminating our fears of others (ourselves) and helping each other (ourselves) in becoming the truly self aware new mentally evolved humanity (you can call it humanity 2.0 if you want) where the happiness of children and thereby the happiness of everyone is at the center of all we do. It will be too amazing to even contemplate but it can happen if we understand who we really are instinctively and cognitively. Let us free our brains from the guild of what we have done to ourselves in the past due to ignorance and non-self-awareness and let's make the future prosperous and plentiful with our newly acquired knowledge of how to become appease with our wonderful instincts by being smart but still nurturing.
We can do anything and without fighting ourselves and others it will become astronomically more easy.
I'm not a native English speaker and I know I make mistakes but I hope you understand anyway.
    PEACE & LOVE
