Add Drampa to the list of elders you don't want to piss off. I find him to be quite charming. He's like a loveable grandfather that is friends with everyone, hence the name. He is just extremely protective of his kids by choosing to burn down the bully's house. I still consider him a badass grandpa.

Drampa can really put in some work if you can find a spot for it. Goes to show that this aging Dragon sure isn't slowing down anytime soon. Also I love it's Gen 7 Pokedex entries where is says it will burn a bully's house to the ground if said bully is hurting the trainer/child it thinks highly of.
I like it I play with my little nephew Sun and Moon doubles and I use a Drampa as a Sweeper with pokemon that have really troll moves like follow me... She just uses Sword Dance and calls it a day to punch... She is getting better she predicted a protect to use a second sword dance and won because that caught me out of guard
Drampa is like Master Roshi from Dragon Ball. Sure he’s old, but behind that age is underrated power and experience that can surprise the cocky opponent. Plus, Dragon Pulse is kind of like Kamehameha, so in my head canon, Drampa is the badass mentor to Dragonite, Kingdra, Salamence and friends who taught them how to use the power of the dragon. Truly an underrated and cool Dragon.
Drampa is a one stage pokemon most players will miss but it has so much personality. Essentially a grandpa for its trainers and local kids, and a pretty strong fighter. As the introduction the berserk ability, I always loved this guy and his unique typing.
We made a VGC style 8-player tournament among friends once No one was taking it too seriously in terms of crafting meta relevant teams and a friend of mine showed up with Drampa on his team and everyone laughed at him Dude ended up winning lol

I thinks its a great design, but not necessarily for a pokemon. It doesnt matter much, pokemon jumped the shark a long time ago when it comes to consistent pokemon designs. It looks more like a dragon from a random anime than a pokemon. I think its the eyes, it looks too cartoonish. Its not ugly looking by any means. It reminds me of when trubish was first revealed. Its a cute design but everyone was confused about how a man made bag of trash could be a pokemon
If Drampa appears in Gen 9 VGC, I can definitely see it being a Tera-Normal Hyper Voice user in Trick Room. A Gimmicky set being Tera-Water + Sap Sipper may be seen as well, though rarely.
Normal/Dragon typing is pretty out there, though the Hisuian Zorua line's Normal/Ghost is still my pick for the strangest type combination of them all.
Drampa is one of my favorite Pokémon, but what drags it down for me is it’s too late in the game to comfortably put on a team to get invested into. It’s a problem with all Dragons types honestly and it prevents people from getting as attached as they could be.
Not really "all Dragons". It depends on the Generation, but several Dragon-types are available at good points, whether it's Gible, Goomy, Axew, Turtonator etc.
My issue with late game Pokémon is that by gym 4, 5 if not all 6 team slots are filled. I’m usually attached at that point and never switch team mates off. Just recently when Scarlet came out I needed a psychic type and added Ralts to my team. By the time I had a Gardevior I felt bad removing it from my team even if I didn’t really want to use it.
@@JamienautMark2 I think the key there is to not focus on a team but constantly cycle pokemon. In my main Scarlet run I had about 10 pokemon that were in regular usage and all were constanly moved in and out of my team. With the various exp changes over the years it isn't hard to keep a bunch of pokemon at a respectable level or to raise a new pokemon you want to that level.
In my opinion Dragons (or strong pokemon in general) should be hard to find around the second or third badge they should be hiding in a secret place with low spawn rates just for those curious enough to get off the story and explore the map
I really wish we had a trick room version of cold reception, allowing all 5 trick room turns to be used after the user switches out. This might be the best way to make trick room viable in singles
Gavin’s San Jose team was the first thing that popped up in my head when I saw this video lol. It’s amazing how he and Lexicon were able to pilot Drampa to success in a Tapu-filled meta

DRAMPA MOMENT! I still remember pre-Drampa ban Gen 8 PU, the ladder was crumbling under Drampa’s power, which I was abusing. This is what caused Drampa to be my second favorite Pokémon. How to Buff Drampa: - Make Sap Sipper boost Attack and Special Attack - Give it Boomburst - Add 30 to it’s HP - Remove 5 stat points from attack and speed and put them into special attack
I honestly think Drampa should be more popular. Only thing holding it back is that it came from a generation with such banger designs like mimikyuu and Bewear.
You know something interesting: Small animals often evolve to be much larger when they are introduced to an isolated ecosystem like an island. Maybe Dranpa is a descendent of Dunsparce that were introduced to the isolated Alola, hence the *Normal/Dragon* typing and swamped color pallet.
Drampa ended up being the perfect fit for my Gen 8 NU team, because of its typing in conjunction with Sap Sipper, making it immune to Decidueye and Dhelmise stab moves, and an almost endless amount of coverage.
I remember when Sun and Moon came out, watching your videos and looking forward to when you'd cover those pokemon. I can't believe it's been so many years

Just because a pokemon isn't highly used, does not make it weak or unusable by any means, it's just people often choose other pokemon first. There are some that would argue that is in fact a sign of other pokemon being stronger, but that doesn't account for prevailing strategies, movepool shifts, ability updates, or even nostalgic picks. Those type of tier lists only account for what people think about the pokemon in those tiers, not their objective applicability. Over and over it happens: once a player decides to break the mold and prove another underrated strategy works to shred the prevailing meta, mimickers crop up, and that team makeup becomes a mainstay of the new meta. These tiering systems were never as rigid as way too many players believe them to be. That said, those tiers carry the most application and importance when utilized *in context* with the prevailing metascape. And I find that expression of hardcore play planning super friggin cool!
Fun story: I played pokemon moon for a second time as a kid and got a level 1 drampa in a wonder trade. The thing legit carried my whole playthrough and it was so legendary! It made me fall in love with this goofy dred having grampa dragon ☺️
I loved using this thing in lower tiers because it hits like an absolute truck and its bulk was solid enough to get the job done. Cool to see you cover it.
This reminds me of a kid in Gen 7 VGC using a cool trick room team build by himself centering around Drampa He made it far, but lost to very standard copy n' paste team in the end but won the audiences' applauds

I never thought of using Drampa on an OU team. But I used it for almost half of generation 8. I started using it on a Trick Room team in response to Spectrier's abuse. And although it was banned, I ended up using it for the rest of the generation. It is not a super team, but it helped me to stay in the 1850 and even 1900 points of the tier. Also resists Rillaboom priority, Blacephalom, Dragapult spec, has favorable mach up against rain and sun. My Drampa is call Falkor, from Neverending Story.
Something I've noticed over the years of watching False swipe is that he has gotten much more lenient with his verdicts over the years. Calling Drampa's gen 8 great with it being publ is a stark contrast from his steeling video when he dismissed it due to only being ru in gen 5. Idk where I was going with this just an observation.
I love drampa, for how recent it is in the history of pokemon, but it's so cool. dragon normal seems useful, great moves and abilities. when I was running through pokemon moon the first time, I heard of drampa and saw its stats, and I just knew I had to use it. luckily it was available in moon, albeit in victory road. for how late it joined the team, it was super useful for beating accerola in the e4.
Considering how often this guy was referred to in Gen 7 sections of PU as "the terrifying Drampa", I knew how he was going to roll out. I never did play Gens 6, 7 or 8. Nice to know that this guy got to rule in the lower tiers. I can only imagine how crazy Drampa would be in OU if he was a little bulkier and/or not so gosh-darn slow.
Perhaps a way it could be better in the higher tiers is to buff its defenses and/or its hp by 10 points each (85-95 def, 91-101 spdef, 78-88 hp) so it can have a bit more survivability while also hitting pretty hard.
There is nothing as satisfying as a Comfey, Oranguru, Drampa trick room core with comfey to priorty draining kiss Drampa for berserk and weakness policy as well as heals, and Oranguru with Instruct Hyper Voice Drampa XD.
Ive always been partial to Turtonator as far as Gen 7 version exclusive dragon types go, but ive always loved Drampa its so sweet. Arguably the most wholesome Pokemon in the franchise. Not to mention its design is also pretty neat
I once got Drampa to No. 2 on the ranked ladder in Sword and Shield. It was so fun to use paired with Speed Swap Shadow Rider. Extremely strong stab Hyper Voice, could OHKO most Dragon Legends with Draco Meteor and even Zacian with Fire Blast. It had great speed control options in Max Strike/Max Airstream and Cloud Nine was incredibly useful in a weather dominated meta. I honestly hope it returns in DLC for Scarlet and Violet

Sap Sipper Drampa is probably going to be crazy in pkmn V/S. A defensive Terra into Water for good resistance for example.

Considering how often this guy was referred to in Gen 7 sections of PU as "the terrifying Drampa", I knew how he was going to roll out. I never did play Gens 6, 7 or 8. Nice to know that this guy got to rule in the lower tiers. I can only imagine how crazy Drampa would be in OU if he was a little bulkier and/or not so gosh-darn slow.

Perhaps a way it could be better in the higher tiers is to buff its defenses and/or its hp by 10 points each (85-95 def, 91-101 spdef, 78-88 hp) so it can have a bit more survivability while also hitting pretty hard.

Ive always been partial to Turtonator as far as Gen 7 version exclusive dragon types go, but ive always loved Drampa its so sweet. Arguably the most wholesome Pokemon in the franchise. Not to mention its design is also pretty neat

I once got Drampa to No. 2 on the ranked ladder in Sword and Shield. It was so fun to use paired with Speed Swap Shadow Rider. Extremely strong stab Hyper Voice, could OHKO most Dragon Legends with Draco Meteor and even Zacian with Fire Blast. It had great speed control options in Max Strike/Max Airstream and Cloud Nine was incredibly useful in a weather dominated meta. I honestly hope it returns in DLC for Scarlet and Violet
