Jokes aside. Did you know Kyurem has its own version of the Tao Duo's theme? But it lacks the lighting/fire sound effects and has some slap bass? It's my prefered version of the theme. Shame GF doesn't think that way, cause it hasn't been in a game since B2W2.
I feel like kyurem is gonna be really good if it comes to gen 9 with all the hail changes. Having a def boost with decent base def and a great base HP feels like it’ll be a great bulky wallbreaker.

It makes me wonder if it’ll get a physical Ice STAB that isn’t Icicle Spear, as it could only learn that through TM and it’s not a TM this game. And if Pokemon HOME doesn’t wipe out transfer moves to SV like it did in BDSP. If it gets Ice Punch or Ice Spinner.
@@MrK-bw5oh specs and scarf were both great sets last gen and I think it’s gonna great again. With bundle getting banned there’s been a big lack of ice offense and a lot of the tier can’t take ice beam/freeze dry and draco.
A lot of people like Reshiram, a lot of people like Zekrom, but I never see a lot of Kyurem love. Honestly, to me it’s one of the coolest Pokémon to ever exist, and the arbiter of the fusion mechanic that Pokémon seems to like to like so much these days. It deserves more respect.
It's actually incredible how much Kyurem improved with Freeze-Dry alone. By far the best redemption story in competitive singles Pokemon. Oh yea and it can also DD Icicle Spear just in case the freeze chances weren't enough

Freeze Dry is a pretty busted move tbh, Ice is already an offensive type difficult to resist, tacking another super effective on a resist only worsens it. I bet if Iron Bundle didnt have Freeze Dry, it wouldnt get banned.

I know it wouldn't help basic kyurem, but I would love to see a Kyurem Complete form. We've seen how the weather trio used to be, we've seen the fully reformed Zygarde, show us what the dragon was before the split!
I figured original Kyurem would have been like King Gidorah and when they split Kyurem became like a parasite, juding by it's asymmetry on its body it is incomplete and it needs either one to truly sustain itself.
It should be the only quadruple type Pokemon. Dragon, Ice, Fire and Electric. This would give it the best coverage ever but also a ton of weaknesses so that its incredible stats are balanced, in an interesting way. Also maybe give it an ability which stops it from terrastralizing

I've never been huge into competitive so I can't speak to that side of things, but Kyurem's design is so top tier. Its asymmetry shows how broken it is from the One Dragon splitting, its tail is like a husk of what used to be a generator like Zekrom or Reshiram, it's just perfect. You can just tell that it's not whole.
I just wish we had the fusion of all three because it says on the dex that it's suppose to be the husk of the complete pokemon of all of them fused. man...

RU had Gengar and UU had Blacephalon and fucking Volcarona thanks to the dlc introducing monsters like Spectrier, Pheromosa, and Magearna into OU. It’s not just a matter of people learning to use them correctly, it’s just that the other brokens had to go first before Kyurem’s qualities became a legitimate problem.
I'm more scared of the new move Ice Spinner. We've seen what brutality Kyurem and Black Kyurem had with Icicle Spear, could you imagine the carnage if it got Ice spinner, an overall more reliable move?

Ah the memories of my friend teaching me how to encounter Kyurem in my original Pokémon Black. I didn’t use guides back then and was seldom on TH-cam, so finding out there was another legendary in the game I didn’t know about was exciting

I love Kyurem so much. I picked it up because I wanted something with freeze dry in Gen 8 and I haven’t looked back. Kyurem absolutely shreds rain teams and that is beyond useful in the past 2 gens of National Dex. Plus with Terra it doesn’t even need to run specs to utterly shatter teams. Love this guy so much
Gen 8 was the best Gen for all three Kyurem forms. Ironically, White Kyurem had its worst performance overall due to Dusk Mane Necrozma and better Ice and Dragon types such as Darm-G and Eternatus. Black Kyurem finally gets a physical Ice STAB and DD. Bolt Beam coverage also made it finally get banned from OU. It still struggles in Ubers but performs better than White Kyurem (C- rank vs D). Regular Kyurem got Freeze Dry, and outstalled even its checks such as Heatran with Substitute + DD + Roost + Icicle Spear. With its versatility that can’t be predicted, those things caused it to get banned from OU as well. But still outclassed.
One important thing about Kyurem that didn't got mentioned is that Icicle Spear got a monstrous 48PP, which further adds to Kyurem's stalling prowess. (it is a consequence of forgetting to lower the PP when buffing a move's power in gen5, and then never look again)
It’s been broken in UU in some generations but yea nowadays it’s way too strong for UU Physical attacking Ice Type Pokemon with decent speed eventually become scary Baxcalibur is now banned from OU for that reason
Personally, I wouldn't give base Kyurem anything to give it an edge over its white and black forms because it isn't supposed to be equal. It's essentially missing core components that it once had, and fusing it brings back some of its lost power.
Kyurem is funny competitive-tier-wise because it never ended up being solidly in a tier, similar to what Staraptor endured for most of its life. UUBL (the UU banlist) in gen 5. RUBL (the RU banlist) in gens 6 and 7. Ubers (the OU banlist) in gen 8 while being unviable in that tier.
I imagine many years down the line there’ll be videos like this for Pokémon Go. It’s been almost 3 years and 13 seasons with so many updates and meta changes and with lots left to come I got this idea because Kyurem in the Masters League was basically non-existent until 2 months ago when it got its signature move added to its move pool and now it’s on the top 5 strongest in the game
I've been waiting for this one! Gen 5 UU and OU was the hay day of my smogon competitive play. I remember when Kyurem was put into UU and it went under the radar for about a week until people realized that it had been moved down a tier, and I was spamming it as soon as the updated tiers went live. I was so upset about Kyurem in UU that I just spammed that exact choice specs set until it got banned to OU. If anyone was playing UU showdown ladder during this time, you surely remember the boogeyman that was Kyurem. Choice specs blizzard+ stealth rocks one shots most of the tier (something like 90% or more) with a neutral hit. It was straight up dumb, probably one of the most mis-tiered pokemon ever.
Gen 5 did not give us Pokemon Gray, and from that point onwards, it marked the end of the sister games like Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum. All of those games did some really cool expansions to their respective generations, and I'll forever miss those types of games.
I'd buff Kyurem with a new ability: Frigid Air - When Kyurem enters the battlefield, it releases icy winds reaching below zero degrees. This sharply lowers the opponent's Speed and Evasion stats.
People say that base Kyurem's design is too awkward, but that's the whole point; Kyurem isn't just some normal dragon, he's the remnant of a once complete dragon of both reshiram and zekrom, him looking almost incomplete is his entire character. Also he's fucking awesome so like

I didn't expect Kyurem to actually have success; I figured Gen VIII's power creep would ask for too much for its admittedly nice stats. But that Ice Stab is CRUCIAL to its usage, clearly; if it rose to a higher place than its debut generation because of the new ice moves it got, you know that's a good part of Kyurem. I do prefer its fusions to the base form just because they're more unique, but hell, glad to see the base form got its own share of love. It's just a lonely, icy little thing. That may or may not eat people. And be an alien. God his lore is so strange lmao
Oh, Arceus... Gen 8 (Sword and Shield) is the only generation in Smogon where all three forms of Kyurem are in Ubers. (Meaning regular Kyurem is basically outclassed and has nothing to go for it because that Dragon Dance buff was actually too broken for it.) In Gen 9 (Scarlet and Violet) however power creep somehow allowed base form Kyurem to return back to OU while it's Black/White forms are still in Ubers. It's now available thanks to the Indigo Disk expansion, and Kyurem was actually a fairly deadly threat there (and in fact one of the best Pokemon in OU!), but has to compete with several other bunch of legendary and mythical Pokemon that were former Ubers and allowed into OU, one of which is Zamzaenta-Hero (yes, this beast got actually allowed in OU!), as well as some new prominient Pokemon such as Kingambit and Great Tusk
Is this the first pokémon in this channel that actually made a genuine threat out of PP Pressure stalling? Cause never in my life have I ever considered "Pressure" -- *_the_* stock legendary ability -- and "Nightmarish" in the same sentence until now.
The fact Kyurem eats people and has no issues with killing makes him one of the best Pokemon right off the bat. Add in Black and White Kyurem and you've got the best Pokemon/Legendary in the series. Give us his complete form and watch him be stronger than Mega Rayquaza and Arceus/Mewtwo.
My most fond memory of Kyurem was when I battled a friend of mine. He was so proud of his Landorus-Therian. Imagine the smug look on his face disappearing, giving way to absolute shock, when a STAB Blizzard, coming from a Modest Kyurem with full Special Attack investment and boosted by Life Orb, smacked his Landorus-Therian. And it was a critical hit. If anyone ran the calculations, how many times over did Lando-T died?
its such a feel good moment to see normal Kyreum, consistently the worst of the three forms, finally get banned to Ubers. Doing so by such an unconventional means as PP stalling and freeze fishing honestly just makes it even more awesome.
Kyurem certainly differed from Zekrom and Reshiram, who both did have the yin and yang sense whilst Kyurem is more so the neutral party of the group. In the Pokédex entry from X Omega Ruby “this legendary ice Pokémon waits for a hero to fill in the missing parts of its body with truth or ideals”.

Personally, I wouldn't give base Kyurem anything to give it an edge over its white and black forms because it isn't supposed to be equal. It's essentially missing core components that it once had, and fusing it brings back some of its lost power.
Kyurem is funny competitive-tier-wise because it never ended up being solidly in a tier, similar to what Staraptor endured for most of its life.
UUBL (the UU banlist) in gen 5.
RUBL (the RU banlist) in gens 6 and 7.
Ubers (the OU banlist) in gen 8 while being unviable in that tier.

I got this idea because Kyurem in the Masters League was basically non-existent until 2 months ago when it got its signature move added to its move pool and now it’s on the top 5 strongest in the game
I've been waiting for this one! Gen 5 UU and OU was the hay day of my smogon competitive play. I remember when Kyurem was put into UU and it went under the radar for about a week until people realized that it had been moved down a tier, and I was spamming it as soon as the updated tiers went live. I was so upset about Kyurem in UU that I just spammed that exact choice specs set until it got banned to OU. If anyone was playing UU showdown ladder during this time, you surely remember the boogeyman that was Kyurem. Choice specs blizzard+ stealth rocks one shots most of the tier (something like 90% or more) with a neutral hit. It was straight up dumb, probably one of the most mis-tiered pokemon ever.
If this one makes it into Paldea, competitive is doomed with this legendary going Terra Steel all over the place

Gen 5 did not give us Pokemon Gray, and from that point onwards, it marked the end of the sister games like Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum. All of those games did some really cool expansions to their respective generations, and I'll forever miss those types of games.

Ice types are always my favorites but Kyurem in particular it's one of the coolest (also literally) pokemon designs of all time imo
For "Legends Victini" or whatever the Unova Legends game will be called, i hope we get Complete Kyurem (Black + White)

People say that base Kyurem's design is too awkward, but that's the whole point; Kyurem isn't just some normal dragon, he's the remnant of a once complete dragon of both reshiram and zekrom, him looking almost incomplete is his entire character. Also he's fucking awesome so like

I didn't expect Kyurem to actually have success; I figured Gen VIII's power creep would ask for too much for its admittedly nice stats. But that Ice Stab is CRUCIAL to its usage, clearly; if it rose to a higher place than its debut generation because of the new ice moves it got, you know that's a good part of Kyurem.
I do prefer its fusions to the base form just because they're more unique, but hell, glad to see the base form got its own share of love. It's just a lonely, icy little thing. That may or may not eat people. And be an alien. God his lore is so strange lmao

Gen 8 (Sword and Shield) is the only generation in Smogon where all three forms of Kyurem are in Ubers. (Meaning regular Kyurem is basically outclassed and has nothing to go for it because that Dragon Dance buff was actually too broken for it.)
In Gen 9 (Scarlet and Violet) however power creep somehow allowed base form Kyurem to return back to OU while it's Black/White forms are still in Ubers. It's now available thanks to the Indigo Disk expansion, and Kyurem was actually a fairly deadly threat there (and in fact one of the best Pokemon in OU!), but has to compete with several other bunch of legendary and mythical Pokemon that were former Ubers and allowed into OU, one of which is Zamzaenta-Hero (yes, this beast got actually allowed in OU!), as well as some new prominient Pokemon such as Kingambit and Great Tusk
So glad kyurem was finally able to match its fellow cover/mascot legendaries like rayquaza, giratina, reshiram, etc.
Is this the first pokémon in this channel that actually made a genuine threat out of PP Pressure stalling?
Cause never in my life have I ever considered "Pressure" -- *_the_* stock legendary ability -- and "Nightmarish" in the same sentence until now.
And the Pokémon to utilize it is an Ice type - the second bulkiest of the Ice type with an HP stat so big it can create 101 HP substitutes, but still.
The fact Kyurem eats people and has no issues with killing makes him one of the best Pokemon right off the bat. Add in Black and White Kyurem and you've got the best Pokemon/Legendary in the series. Give us his complete form and watch him be stronger than Mega Rayquaza and Arceus/Mewtwo.

My most fond memory of Kyurem was when I battled a friend of mine. He was so proud of his Landorus-Therian. Imagine the smug look on his face disappearing, giving way to absolute shock, when a STAB Blizzard, coming from a Modest Kyurem with full Special Attack investment and boosted by Life Orb, smacked his Landorus-Therian. And it was a critical hit.

Watching Kyurem draco meteor Azumarill in the gen 5 section threw me off completely, lol. Almost forgot fairy didn't exist
its such a feel good moment to see normal Kyreum, consistently the worst of the three forms, finally get banned to Ubers. Doing so by such an unconventional means as PP stalling and freeze fishing honestly just makes it even more awesome.
Kyurem certainly differed from Zekrom and Reshiram, who both did have the yin and yang sense whilst Kyurem is more so the neutral party of the group. In the Pokédex entry from X Omega Ruby “this legendary ice Pokémon waits for a hero to fill in the missing parts of its body with truth or ideals”.
Gotta love how Kyurem somehow learns "Roost" despite not even capable of naturally flying (at least in its weakened state)
