I really wanted to give this map a mod review video.. for me this has to be one of the cooler maps that are available on the workshop at the moment and it's not even half finished!

Also I learned after making the video that A) Vidda is a real place, I am not sure however how much this map resembles the real location though and B) That it does get dark you just have to mess with the month not just the hour, apparently there's months where they have barely any sun.. that would suck.. anyway---->
An absolutely AMAZING map that I hope I did enough justice too by just driving/flying around a little bit, it's kind of different to do a mod review for an entire map than it is to for "just" a more easily viewed faction.. hope you guys like this one and give me some suggestions for mods to review in the comment section :D

I think this is FinnmarksVidda in northern Norway. They have some big military bases up there. They host Nato winter training up there aswell .There is even a couple of hundred US marines stationed up north on some of the bases
Glad you like it! Some corrections: It is NOT a real place... The terrain shape is taken from satellite data but what is on it is entirely fictional.
The name means a particular terrain feature, sort of "the plain on top of the mountain" and doesn't really translate. There are many places in Norway with vidda in the name or places that are referred to as vidda or viddene(plural).
As for the midnight sun, it never goes down beyond the horizon in the summer and it barely peak above it in the winter. The terrain is set in spring (vegetation and snow cover level) so just set it to march and you will have some dark nights.
The Shermanator eh winter without sun aint too bad, besides midnight sun during summer makes up for it.

1. NW Winter Bunker: GRID 041032
2. W Bunker: GRID 016 971 Note: It's under the big building ;)
3. S Bunker: GRID 053 037
were should the bunker at 053 037 be?
@@aaninger You gotta zoom into the map and look for a steep elevation change. Theres a small road that leads to the entrance

GRID 053 037 is located north right next to the nw bunker, not south as you stated, is this correct?
EDIT: i have found the southern bunker, steven D made a typo, its located at grid 052 937. (warning; its heavily concealed and very hard to spot from the air)

For some reason the paint scheme on that bunker reminds me of a cow

Looks like Northern Norway or Sweden to me - perfect for training Homeguard/SQ in mountain/Winter/partisan/Guerilla-warfare, where U have to collect enemy supplys of any kind to succed - The best map I´we seen so far - perfect Vid Shermanator - just subscibed, and 1 like coming up - see U
Got to love the driving really expect the same stuff in game respect+

U just have to do a ARMA mission on this map it is so beautifull its insane. Some spec ops or maybe russian infiltration of Norway stly something like that would be extreamly cool!
here after your Arma 3 rant from the stream earlier today.
Well i live in Sweden and i can confirm that in summer time it never gets completely dark the sky is still light and it's quite irritating, but in winter time it is dark AF instead and if you're lucky enough sometimes the Aurora Borealis lights up the sky a little.

I'm a bit late here, but vidda means plateau in norwegian. The map is based in Norway.
Doesn't want to fly and talk about a Wall for 2 minutes, does it anyway.

I think its based on Hardangervidda? Which would make it in the southwestern part of Norway, or as we would refer to it as; west country.

The Map Weights over 3 gigabytes but it is amaizing.
Can you just show us the location in the descripition, it's really hard trying to use the video to locate the bunker.
i like how 60% of this video is just appreciating the graphics and only 40% of the video is on the bunker

Seems to share the same issue as 99.9% of all custom ARMA3 maps.
1. Terrible pop-in
2. Terrible satelite texture
3. Terrible LOD differences between A2 assets, A3 assets and custom assets
Better than no mods
@@theShermanator Nah it's a pretty big difference in quality compared to the incredible detail of the official work. Unlike other mods that do a much better job at integrating seamless with the high quality of the BIS content. Although user made maps generally fall into the shitty category due to the amount of work required to create them.
