I honestly haven't had the time to give everything a close-up look; I was planning on doing a full overview of all stuff in the game, like I did for the GoH Liberation DLC for example, so I might notice it then - what should I look for?
To be honest I find this mode quite refreshing and more interesting than the regular conquest mode in GoH. I know GoH has really good features but this is one part I think they're lacking a bit, conquest mode feels incomplete but I understand it's somewhat niche gamemode so they focus on other aspects. At the very least MoW2 guys did try to make something a bit different with this gamemode. By the way will you be playing more of this gamemode or was this a one off experiment?
Well I would LOVE to play more of this, I definitely think a full "playthrough" of one Raid session will make it to TH-cam; can't really promise much outside of the one, depends on how I feel after. Just hope the 3 of us can touch on most of the later units in the next ~14 battles we have left
@@theShermanator Well I'm happy in that case, am curious as how the AI will progress alongside you guys :) It's been one of my problems when playing Coop Conquest with a friend in GoH, we can't try out some of the wierder units either because of the scarcity of tech points or by the time we do unlock them they're mostly outdated. This, to me, transforms conquest mode into some meta focused gamemode which i dislike. Though I haven't played in months so don't know if it has changed anything since then.
Keep in mind MoW2 has both a Conquest and this Raid mode, I think Raid is somewhat similar to GoHs Conquest, MoW2s Conquest is quite different, but I found Raid to be more fun just my 2 cents ofc
"First coment ?! Yeah, babe... I'm so optimistic when I see WWII RTS games still being developed. PS: Love you, Shermanator. Thanks for the great work!"
would kill for another good Medieval RTS with a focus on the combat. Manor Lords is a really fun city builder but the combat needs to be worked on a bit more before its fully realized i believe. the addition of cavalry and a few siege weapons alone is honestly enough imo.
@sickmit3481 I mean, I got the game and I'm enjoying it so there's really no reason for me to look at the reviews. The controls make micromanaging so much better that those alone are enough to make me a fan.
Quite impressive how many people felt the need to rush over to explain how bad Men of War 2 is. It's like one isn't even allowed to enjoy multiple different games in the same genre, eh?
For real! It’s like people want Gates of Hell 3.5 even though Gates of Hell itself is in active development. Do people want this game to kill gates of hell and steal its niche even though they claim it’s the best?? Plus gates of hell markets itself specifically as a more slow paced realistic version of men of war.
On the fence to buy Gates of Hell or Men of War 2, any suggestion? I could get both, but Id like an opinion. I am a long time fan and player of the MoW series and MoWAS2, even trying the dismal MoW Vietnam, but have been on the fence with the recent reviews.
Personal recommendation; wait till the next sale for either game, buy it, play it less than 120 minutes, then decide if you like it. If not, refund it and buy the other game You could actually do that right now tbh - buy either game first, play for ~90 minutes and refund if you dont like it. Then try the other to get a feel for either game I guess GoH is more realism and SP/COOP focused, MoW 2 is more arcade and MP focused However I specifically mention the sale, because GoH goes on sale multiple times a year (its an older release, I doubt MoW 2 will be on a bigish sale anytime soon)
GoH is definitely my recommendation. MoW2 looks good but it's simply too new to be able to beat GoH, which has had years to refine its formula by now. i personally think MoW is a little too arcade-y for my tastes. its not as gamey as Company of Heroes but if you want a gritty, immersive experience than Gates of Hell is your go too. if you aren't diehard about realism and would enjoy something maybe not as a challenging, Men of War might be to your likinh
Do you prefer playing online or single player? Both have multiplayer and co-op, but the one thing MoW2 genuinely does better is a more consistent and stable multiplayer connection. That's not to say GoH's multiplayer is bad, it's quite good. It's just harder to find games with people who are close enough to you geographically to not experience any slowdown. GoH's single player campaigns and conquest are very good, and the quality is better imo.
MoW2 is much better. GoH still has atrociously bad AI after like five years or whatever. Not only for bots, but your own guys. You'll be babysitting soldiers who need to be told to get in the foxhole they just dug or shoot at the enemy shooting at them.
If GoH had a thing similar to Raid mode I would love to check it out, would be really fun I think - like Conquest but everyone had their own techtree and cash and stuff
I think it would of been a smarter release goal to start off with Pacific Theatre, and/or Africa Theatre to differentiate it from Gates of Hell. Now everyone is just looking at this game and comparing the two. At least you would of had two armies GOH does not yet have (Japanese & British) and two totally different environments to play in, they could of attracted more GOH fans to also buy this game for the sake of it just being something NEW.
@@theShermanatorAll that being said, I'm buying this game regardless because I enjoy map making, and modding with GEM editor. Operation Mercury, the invasion of Crete would have also been epic and a unique setting, the old architecture and iconic locations (Pantheon) would of been eye candy to play in. If they did an African Campaign I would like it to be played from the Germans perspective under the command of Rommel.
I like alot of the new stuff like game modes and such, but dislike how units are handled. It feels like a mix between MOWAS2 and COH and im not too into it. But i might pick it up for the conquest and that cool system, feels inspired by Steel Division and thats pretty cool
Great vid sherm ignore these narcissistic idiots who are getting this mad because you’re enjoying a game they don’t like. Like how are you going to tell someone what they can and can’t like and or enjoy.
I literally fought with the devs on some of the decision made in MoW2 i had discussions with FQ_Dom why health bars were made standard (instead of realism with having to option to turn on easy mode) and little things like that but they were so fixed on "but we have a dynamic coop campaign and other cool stuff" that they wouldnt even listen to the people that played Men Of war before and anyone that didnt even have the game or gave the game back in the 2 hour refund time were people which opinion didnt have any weight because they didnt play the game enough. If you read some of the dev replies in the reviews you get major starfield vibes. Im staying with GoH for now.
Ive said it a few times but I like it; I dont see this as a follow up to MoW or even AS1-2 - its more like a mix between CoH and MoH but with Steel Divs deck building. I love this mode but prob wont really go deep into Conquest or the single missions - might do some MP again tho
Well if you want to get specific The idea of "Conquest" is from a mod way back for AS1 or AS2. That mod creator now works on GoH iirc However this isn't just Conquest, this is Raid, MoW 2 has Conquest as well, which I am not playing as Raid is more unique and fun. In GoH conquest only one person decides the deck, units, research etc Here in MoW 2 in Raid, we all get to build our own deck and make our own research decisions Regarding the WoT/WT thing- its similar to those games because you have to pick your research with XP points, you have both free XP to spend on anything and XP tied to a unit. To unlock say the PaK 40 you first have to use the PaK 38 or use Free XP Literally WT/WoT right there
I dont see a reason why to; everyone in the comments already is lmao - figured Id share my own perspective on it, and how this mode is kinda like Conquest but with those research elements of WT/WoT in it as well as a great upgrade for COOP players
I want to like this game but it’s extremely lackluster. Which is super disappointing for me because I looked forward to it. They put themselves in the arena of arcade RTS which is dominated by many more superior games. (COH, StarCraft, Halo Wars, etc). If they would have stuck to what makes MOW unique and top of its own class this would be the go to for not only the core community but may have attracted new players from the backlash of COH 3. GOH has shown a glimpse of what is possible in the MOW field and they missed the opportunity to capture it with this game. I just hope they keep supporting GOH and adding content since it seems this game is DOA
@@theShermanator I know and I understand their attempt to break the mold. It just wasn't a good call doing it under the MOW name or jumping into an arena that is already dominated like I said before. Just don't leave GOH off the table.
