    "Fist of Legend" is one of Jet's best films. Yuen Woo-Ping(Matrix) choreographed that one.
    He is well known for his portrayal of folklore hero, Wong Fei Hung in "Once Upon a Time in China 1, 2, and 3"
    "Fearless" is pretty good.
    "Hero" is one of his better epics. Very cool visuals and use of color.
    "Black Mask" is a comic book movie he did. Story is a bit weak, but the fight scenes done by Yeun Woo-Ping are great.

    Glad you played this game Matt, I was stupid to pass this up as a kid. Watch Fist of Legend, a remake of Fist of Fury! I also have a soft spot for Contract Killer and Meltdown/High Risk with the latter having the director throw major shade at Jackie Chan. Random note is that Jet can't speak Cantonese since he's originally from mainland China so they usually dub him over in HK movies.

    • @michaelbandada9887
      @michaelbandada9887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m delighted to see this on my recommended. Growing up I was only able to get 1 to 2 games for my PS2 a year so I needed I needed to stretch their entertainment value for a while (wasn’t too hard when you’re a kid and you’re absolutely batshit about video games) but Rise to Honor was one of those games I never got bored of. I was playing as one of my martial arts hero’s and the game makes you feel like one.
    Also crazy fun when you could beat the hell out of someone with a fire extinguisher or a lobster lol the game had a lot of crazy environment takedowns as well. Some parts were definitely hard but there’s a whole chunk of my life I remember this game was a huge focal point.

    I must have seen the commercials for this game two dozen times. "The only way out of the Hong Kong underworld... IS TO GO BACK IN"
    Seeing it over and over just made me ever more madder that my brother got an Xbox just like mine instead of a PS2 that would have expanded our library of games. Petty in hindsight but damn did I want to play this game :)

    The glut of stick-based combat seems so weird in retrospect. A fleeting thing for Ape Escape that went dormant, and then suddenly there was Rise to Honour and even a Tekken spinoff (Death By Degrees) using this weird control scheme that would be seen as a joke in today's world.

    FIST OF LEGEND will always be the ultimate Jet Li movie, but I also have a lot of fun with High Risk. It’s basically a movie that exists to make fun of Jackie Chan, where Jet Li has to rescue a phony martial arts superstar and a bunch of hostages in a skyscraper. Essentially a shameless rip-off of Die Hard, but a lot of fun. Not a lot of people talk about the Once Upon a Time in China movies, but those are pretty good too - the one where he squares off against Donnie Yen is a particular standout.
    Kiss of the Dragon is his best English-language movie, and The One is worth watching because of how ridiculous it is (with Jason Statham’s terrible American accent as a nice bonus).

    • @michaelbandada9887
      @michaelbandada9887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Once Upon a Time in China movies are pretty good and the music is awesome especially when Jet Li gets ready to kick some major butt. As far as fight scenes go, the fight with Donnie is so intense especially with him using a cloth as a weapon

    I remember watching a dubbed version of my language of "The legend(Fong Sai Yuk)" when i was younger. There was always a scene that stuck out as decently badass for me. It was during halfway of the movie where Jet Li goes to save his mother from the enemy gang. On his way, he had to fight a bunch of guys he once trusted that had betrayed his family. He strapped on multiple katanas on his hip and slashed his way through it while being blindfolded due to not wanting to see bloodshed of his kind. You can find the scene in youtube "Fong Sai Yuk(Jet Li) - Best sword fighting scene". I remember this movie being a good watch, but it might be just childhood memories lol.

      In Fong Sai Yuk, Jet Li faces off against Vincent Zhao who replaced him in the 4th and 5th films in the Once Upon a Time in China series when he quit due to a falling out with Tsui Hark
