This was always one of those series I wish they rebooted in some way.

I remember this because my cousin bought an old Tips and Tricks magazine featuring Darkwatch, the The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and... Mario Tennis? Maybe Mario Golf? I don't remember. I just know Jericho and the Hulk dominated the cover.
Regardless, my cousin had it for like, a week, and gave the magazine to me because he didn't want it and I, being a massive dork to this day, love reading strategy guides. Wish I still had the thing, but it got ruined when another cousin of mine used it as a coaster and spilled soda all over it.

I called this game “Vampire Halo” back in the day, it pretty much rips bungie’s playbook word for word, does a decent job. It’s fun and given everyone is playing the halo remaster, would be good timing for this to come back. Now that I think of it, it has a doom eternal vibe too.
Bruh, I remember watching my dad play this game when I was like 6. I was always too scared to play it. But I just remember watching my dad play the game and cheering him on the whole time.

I remember playing a couple of demos for this, bought it, and absolutely loved how stupid it was, especially the sex scene, which made me laugh so hard. It’s an absolute gem of a game.
My little brother had a friend who got invited to view the Darkwatch studio. No joke, he and his friend came back with 4 copies of Darkwatch for Xbox to give out, shirts, and these cool metal badge logos of Darkwatch. It was quite awesome, and for the game to be as fun as it was made it honestly one of my favorite Xbox memories of all time. I know we still have a copy of it in our collective game's bin.
Man this game was incredible. I hope you find it in your heart to do more episodes of this game.
I thought of this game not a week ago... I played it a ton when I use to not be able to get a lot of games and it was pretty crazy game and apparently left a lasting impression (sequel please)! Thanks for the vid Matt!

Also, apparently it's possible to play original Xbox games online through XLink Kai, but from what I understand it requires a bit of work to setup.
what do you mean sequel? Japanese only? Is it for the PS2? Cuz I modded my PS2 to play Japanese games with disk magic long ago. And yes its completely worth it they got awesome games we never got.
@@Scorpion122178 No, High Moon planned to make a sequel to Darkwatch for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but it was cancelled because they couldn't secure a publisher.

This game would be fun to watch Matt play each time he has nothing else to do, but continue on from wherever he last saved. Imagine, he starts this game up every mission after like 3 months, forgets most of what he was doing, and gets a fresh reaction to all of the dumb fun? in this game.

I got this game with my PS2... a second-hand PS2, and purely because the previous owner forgot it in their console. It felt really... I don't know, special. Both because I never heard about it before and was surprised by how fun it was and because aesthetics made it feel like a first person Nocturne throwback. ...The Terminal Reality Nocturne, of course.
Darkwatch was very underrated. I remember playing this way back in the day. It definitely deserves a remaster.
Rented this when it first came out and it’s never left my memory. Love everything about this game from the good/evil power system to the wicked ass bladed melee. I need a re-release or at least a full play though!
Capcom doesn’t own Darkwatch. Some of the High Moons studio heads spoke to Capcom about making a sequel but Activi$ion owns rights from Vivendi. Ultimately the sequel was canned by Activi$ion in favour of War for Cybertron.
Best we can hope for is a Nightdive remaster. However, with the MS deal, I cannot see that happening with Phil Spencer wanting to review the back catalogue of IP’s.

Console differences: Xbox has more multiplayer maps featuring giant mountable canans but PS2 has an extra single player horseback level, more specifically, you have to take down a haunted train and its "skeleton" crew. And the main campaign is two player co-op.
I still remember the cover story that GMR magazine did for this game, years before its release. IIRC, it was originally intended to be an open-world game with a day-night cycle. This one's probably worthy of a Wha Happen? episode.
As for multiplayer, I wouldn't worry about network play; it supports up to four players in split-screen.
Last but not least, an inverted camera makes way more sense to me. When you look up, what does your head do? It pulls back. When you look down? It tilts forward.
Inverted controls deserve none of the bullshit they get. :c
I think whether or not inverted camera makes sense to you depends on a fundamental question: Do you want the right analog stick to control the view, or the imaginary camera you see the view trough? When the view goes up, the camera goes down. When the view goes left, the camera goes right.

Goooooood I played this when I was a teen and I was so hooked. It was a rental so I never got to replay. The enemy designs were just so cool, especially the banshees. There's something about mixing a wild west setting and the supernatural that speaks to me. Would love to see you do a full playthru for sure!

I remember buying this game simply for the fact it had one hell of a unique idea. A first-person Western horror game with an art style reminiscent of Todd Mcfarlane. I didn't completely forget about this game, but it was never really on my mind after I beat it a few times. This could have spawned a sequel or two if it took off.

Man, even though this game I remembered it being scary for me to play when I was five(the demon in the freezer on the train terrified me... while the half-eaten horse jumpscare was also another thing to scare me just before the freezer room), I did at least have some appreciation for the vampire cowboys mix. Especially with Evil West around the corner, it'll be interesting to see
I played this a couple years back on the OG Xbox and it was really fun, surprised me how much I enjoyed it.
The opening is cool as hell. Good voice acting with that iconic way he says darkwatch and the gun animations and the symbol

I was such a gamer that when we could wear costumes to my school in fifth grade for halloween, I legit wore a Jericho cross costume complete with a darkwatch badge and everything.

I played the hell outta this game back in the day on the PS2 and I'd say a remastered version is needed
Still have my old PS2 version of this game, and it's a great game indeed (and yeah, a better Blood 2 than the actual Blood 2). And no, this was sadly never ported to PC, it was only released for Xbox and PS2. There was a sequel in the works for the PS360, with some very brief footage that got leaked. But the developer never found a publisher, so they eventually went bankrupt :(
And yeah, go talk to Night Dive and Capcom. I'd buy a PS4 or PS5 remaster/re-release of this day 1!
PS: Might have to talk to Ubisoft too, IIRC they published the game in Europe/PAL territories while Capcom published it in the US.
The two parts of the story you played was pretty much the demo I was endlessly replaying as a child. I swear that my memory of this game dies after where this video stops.

this was a great game i had on ps2 did two playthoughs of it as well with a buddy of mine cause this has couch co op and it was fuckin great. i loved the 4 barreled revolving shotgun such a great gem of a game now lost to time.

This is hands down my favourite childhood shooter game. And I'm pretty sure you can play the campaign on split screen but only on the playstation 2. I miss games where you can play through the campaign split screen with friends

I played this game multiple times through as a teenager. A remaster would be awesome.
I remember the game because of those PS2 demo disks that come with a magazine (I don’t remember the name) and it look so cool because I was kid but every time I tried to play the demo and all it kept doing was play the intro and then put me back in the demo selection menu
Vampire horses are great when you're an ageless immortal being who needs to get into a chariot fight with the young martial artist whose style is one of the few things capable of killing you.
Remember enjoying this game a lot when i was younger, I googled this game again because I just knew it had a comic.

I remember being a kid with my dad at a friend's house and his friend was playing this and couldn't beat the first level. He gave up and handed me the controller. I beat the game right in front of him. He wasn't happy
I would really enjoy a playthrough of this, Matt. I remember playing this with my brothers and I was too young to really understand the game other than shoot enemy. I had the case for this sitting amongst my hoarded children's things but the disc was missing so I never got to play it again.
