PTSD is taken very seriously. Most of the time it's a quick in-and-out one-time session but every once in a while an engineer will have some serious problems needing more in depth treatment.

Close to what I came up with. I just used an average of 60 feet over drawbar for 2800 feet or so. Pretty much in the same ballpark. When you're running however that 2800 feet seems a long, long distance as you wonder what's going on in your train behind you.

They sound very close in pitch (obviously made by the same manufacturer) but also because a K5HL may have diaphragm plates are fouled or old so they may sound similar. Nevertheless, the P5 is one great sounding horn.

Man blowing that horn at 4 in the morning isn’t going to get this guy off the track. They should really prohibit train horns being blown near residential areas during certain times. I know this isn’t during the early morning hours but a thread on quora led me here regarding early morning train horns. It’s a disturbance to hundreds of thousands of people rather then someone’s truck getting destroyed because they were too stupid to drive properly and watch the tracks. Ignorance, if you can’t drive properly you don’t deserve to have a license and if you managed to get one then you deserve to be seriously injured because you are putting others at much greater risk by being on the road with your lack of driving confidence and skill.
Trains require horns because they are to alert any cars near the track that there is a train coming if something breaks on a railroad crossing and a train comes and there is no warning that it’s coming that’s someone’s life right there it’s why railfans are against it and many railroad employees because it’s one of the most important warning the railroads have that guy couldn’t move because he was in a traffic jam other wise people would have moved out of the way and the train would pass gates and lights will eventually break and railroads can’t make sure they work 24/7 so if it does break that’s the only warning as lots of view of the track is covered by trees so a horn would be what would warn you and lots of railroad crossings are without lights or gates and a horn is vital there mostly private crossings and roads that don’t have a lot of traffic or trains and railroads have to use horns to alert that a locomotive is moving in a yard or not and the fact is your idea is so selfish peoples lives are at risk and the engineers have to live with hitting a car and killing someone and that’s why railroads need horns

A train can easily sneak up on those near railroad tracks not paying attention. Won't realize it until its too late and a train is right on top of you. The semi was stuck on the high grade of the tracks. The driver of the semi had no clue (of grade) & is a well respected driver of this company for United. There are no warning signs on either side of the track for the high grade. I do not know why, however, the driver did get back in to his cab before the train struck. It was not due to traffic. We (obviously) had the red light and given that a train was coming, he wld have had green. I've witnessed 3 more incidents w/ one involving a collision.
Why do they let blind people drive? I mean, if one does not see the sign that says, "DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS," that person really does need to see an eye doctor immediately. (If that idiot survived the crash...)
