Agreed!! I couldn't care less if he doesn't sing note for note like the album!! I even like how Eddie changes his solo's live too!! If I want the album version I'll stay home and listen to it, but when it's LIVE IN CONCERT give me a rockin show, and Van Halen do that for me (VH/Roth era!)
Dave's voice is great!! You don't know what a singer goes through a tour. The voice goes through torture and changes through the months of touring!!! You ask any vocalist how most of the time they reserve their vocals night after night so they voices don't burn out in the 1st couple of shows. But Dave's always been known to not sing the album version right from the begining, I don't know why people still don't get this!!! It's LIVE not a video clip people!!!
Man,glad Roth's back but I wish he would sing the songs as they go.He kinda sings around them.Went to the New orleans show,& thats what he did all night.SING THE SONGS DAVE
You might wanna read up on how those recordings were done in the first place. Most of them were done live in the studio. So the recordings are just snapshots of the band at the time. Just like a live performance is. There’s no “right way” to sing these songs. As long as the spirit is there it’s true
Yea, but Dave needs some help to get in the pocket. He knows he can't stay in tune so shouts around the song instead of singing it. It's OK, we all know Dave used to do it, it's OK to get a little help to offset age and voice changes.
Dave's always been ringleader to Eddie's playing. Wish he'd use auto-tune on his voice though, then he'd have the confidence to sing the songs like the record.
The recordings were done live anyways. They were just a snapshot of the band in action at a particular time. They weren’t hyper planned illustrations. So these performances ARE in the same exact vein as the original performances, because it’s spirit first technique second. Read up on how the recordings were done in the first place.

Absolutely! It ain't Van Halen without DLR. ;)

Oh snap! is that Roth with them? I love it!!
Van Halen's trademark, especially since Roth has been live performances that are better than the studio version.
