    i don't see a comment that says it below but yeah, this is indeed a real concert. they got super big in 2015, but this was before that. tyler - the singer - would later (but pre-insane-fame) remark that that group, about a thousand people, is probably the threshold number for a crowd that could still be considered a hometown crowd, people you could recognize and say hey how's it going how's your mom doing. they have a really intuitive knack for interacting with different types of audiences. still though, 5-6 years, one grammy, and the first record in the digital age to have every track go platinum down the line, tyler and josh both can still gesture for the crowd to part and they part. with few exceptions, people are respectful. every show ends with both members of the band stood atop platforms held up by the hands of fans at the barricade over their own heads (both sides of the audience also hold up one drum each for the final big moment.) there's a lot of trust between the band and the fans, and we're proud of it.

    • @girlwithnoname956
      @girlwithnoname956 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      "Every track go platinum" is incorrect. It should read "every track go gold".
      I have seen others post this recently- not sure what they are using as source for this, but misinformation has a way of spreading. Please fix the text and your notes. (I checked RIAA, Hometown is still currently gold)
      Every song gold x 2 albums is still an awesome achievement. Recently Heathens hit diamond, and they also became the 18ith artist to have at least two songs certified diamond (10x Platinum).

    • @JayJayGamerOfficial
      @JayJayGamerOfficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I know it's been mentioned but it's every track to go gold, not diamond although they could become the first. Blurryface was the first ever album to have every song gold and vessel was like the 6th or something, making them not only the first with all songs in an album gold but all songs in two. Truly a remarkable feat and it really shows what artists have dedicated fanbases like the Clique

    They are a duo - Tyler is the lead singer, he also writes all the lyrics, produces the music as well as plays multiple instruments - Josh is the drummer and has a very unique style (a lot of people will say he's similar to Travis Barker)
    Everything they do is 100% authentic and very well calculated - so if you ever think to yourself, i wonder if he's relating this back to Job, he probably is (they are christian and do have christian themes throughout their music, typically their struggles - but always buried in metaphors) - they are known for mixing deeper messages with upbeat music - they mix and mesh a bunch of different genres - some songs will sounds rock/alternative/rap/hip hop/raggae/ukelele/etc
    if you really get into them, their music ties into an overarching storyline that is very interesting - you can still listen to the music on its own and understand it, but it also ties into their own world for their fans
    to get to know them more, i'd recommend:
    Migraine
    Ode to Sleep
    Lane Boy
    Trees (Live from Fox Theater)
    You've both probably heard their huge hits: Stressed Out, Ride, and Heathens (but after you get to know them, you'll go back and listen to those songs completely differently)

    Tyler often uses cars, lanes, roads, highways, a driving as a parallel for life, in this particular song as you might have figure it out its about coping mechanism and how when we don't have anything else to distract our minds we have to deal with our troubling minds and even tough he tries to encourage us to think, I love TØP because he is involved in everything he sings, he usually sais "we", or he makes us understand that he also walks this anxiety, depression, self destructive thoughts roads, and that we can get trough it together

      You can feel the genuine personal experience in all of his songs. The car imagery always resonated with me because I loved to drive. I lost my vision with no warning about 4 years ago-it took almost a dozen surgeries to get back the little bit of vision I have now-and this song kept me going. It was the darkest part of my life both literally and figuratively, but when I listened to this song, I felt seen, and a lot of days I really needed someone to tell me not to cross that permanent line. Someone that understood what that kind of pain felt like but urged me to keep going anyway. In some ways, this song saved my life, and I’m in a much better place now.

    Hey guys, good first song to react to. As a 47 year old man who has seen these guys in concert 4 times, the whole vessel album is a good starting point which is where Car Radio came from. Lots of songs about metaphors, mental illness, anxiety, depression(which Tyler, the singer suffered from). He wrote every song. So sit back and enjoy the ride. Don’t just listen to the awesome sound, must pay attention to they lyrics(so crazy and original). Next song should be Ode to sleep(introduction to TØP) followed by “guns for hands” and “migraine”(or vise versa) and eventually their live stuff(any song from Fox theater). Thanks a bunch for the great job!!!

    So much energy and conviction in their performance!!

    4:33 I know that you can find many biblical references through there music (Tyler’s music is said to represent his battle with depression and struggles connecting to or his relationship with god) hearing Kyle point this out makes so much sense and have never heard anyone else point this out during car radio
    A popular one is in my blood when the lyrics say “when you find yourself. In a lions den I’ll go with you”

  • @SuperNovaKat64
    @SuperNovaKat64 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    This song means so much to me. The way that I interpret it is the bad destructive thoughts you can have when you have depression and anxiety (like me). When there's no distraction and you're alone with your thoughts, it can be violent. And then he puts on the mask which is a literal version of the mental "mask" one might put on to seem "normal" to others around you. Then he does the show which is a distraction for him and a way to get out his emotions. But then after the show he takes off his mask and the cycle begins again.

    8:10 yes there are some concerts that twenty One pilots will announce that they are planning to do some form of video or something they haven't done one in a while but basically they announced that during one of the songs or performances they're going to ask the crowd to fall in line and like set up something for them so they can record a video and this is one of those instances that they asked the crowd to do something for them.
    Tyler is definitely religious if you listen to all their albums in order you can hear him slowly walking away from deeply religious music and more to like cryptically religious like his religion is still an influence in his music but it's less of like a forefront influence and more of like a guiding influence now you don't see as many direct Christian and biblical references and influences in his work as much as he used to so I would definitely say that the cutting the hair could 100% be exactly what you were thinking of if it's a biblical thing then it's highly probable that Tyler knows about it and was possibly referencing it in that act in the video

Eric - Tyler has a message for you - give Jumpsuit a listen. This band, our band, is def a perfect fit for you two. 💯 TOP is genre-bending and genre-blending at its finest. If you start this journey, you will be so elated you finally woke up and journeyed down the TOP rabbit hole...!!! They do not disappoint. They have something for everyone, and then some more! Def watching for you to dive deeper into TOP! 💛💛

I recommend follow a certain order Ode to sleep, guns for hands, holding on to you, Fall away (live), migrain (in the live room), trees ... then into Blurryface album...and then into Trench! album! It's a whole world, a huge narrative... sooo much to learn, experience and enjoy... They are soooo talented!! Welcome again!

    There are a lot of “hair” references throughout history.Samson and Delilah, Medusa, hell, even Britney Spears.
    So, yeah. Hair is definitely a metaphor. For rebellion, pain, as yes, especially fear.
    It can also be the catalyst for extreme changes that can be scary to face.
    Maybe your fear won’t recognize you and continue to haunt you if you drastically change your appearance.
    Just a thought…💭💭💭

    5:01 That is exactly where Tyler was taking it from and it is wild that you thought that without any context

    I watch these first time hearing videos all the time this is definitely one of the better ones. Some people didn’t get his metaphors in lyrics. I’m a booking manager and scout musicians all the time I love when people are picking up on subtle components.

    Hearing you talk about religious tones so immediately was an insane prediction as they have alot of religious undertones on there music and though maybe not directly connected I could see tyler taking from the bible for his music as he has in songs like “my blood”

    out of all the reactions, you guys are who i agree with most. what you took away from the song is the same thing i did and can see the real meaning behind it.
    on the same note, i hope whatever trauma you guys went through that made you able to understand these lyrics is over and youre doing much better.

    I'm subscribing g for more Twenty One Pilots!! Start at the beginning.... its so worth it to listen to the progression!! He's all about mental health and early days have very "religious undertones" Best band and live shows are amazing. "Trees and speech" live from fox theater is a must see!!!

    I'm an older guy who likes old country and jazz music who somehow got hooked on Blackpink music which brought me to your channel. Watching your U-turn at the beginning of the first Blackpink video you reacted to was inspiring to me. I've started watching your videos reacting to groups other than Blackpink and am really enjoying music I never thought I would. This is one of those videos. Well done guys. Keep up the great work.

    Kyle is a great example of the Song Heathens! That song, one of those mainstream songs, let's these "new" fans still be welcomed by the "old" fans. I just hope they won't be so disappointed by their new music which is vastly different but still beautiful music.

    That Joe's story can be the place from where Tyler took that idea, he is very religious and a lot of their songs reflect his faith, and sometimes the battles he is having with it
