Shopping in Hilltribe Market Vietnam 🇻🇳

- ■ HAI PHONG, VIETNAM: My main motivation to explore Vietnam's northern most regions, other than mountains with tiered rice fields, was to go shopping in a Hill Tribe market. Now these colorful hill tribe markets are harder to find than you'd think. Many are only once per week, often on Saturday, and are staged in far flung mountainous locations.
After a little research I did discover one that was open everyday and only a 90 minute drive from Lao Cai. Seeing as it only required a 60 minute detour from the direction I would otherwise have driven in, I decided to go for it.
This is the only channel on TH-cam where I can easily watch 30 minutes or more without hitting fast forward 👍.
The best content, love it 🙏
Lee Prana ya of course me also here😂😂
Progressive
Me too bro
yeah, Viet Nam is really different with eastern countries , so we can learn and see people live their life in different angle, interesting
man i wish i could explore the world like that and just see where i end up. legit the dream

You probably could...start a TH-cam channel, maybe going over the history and expectations of what you'll see in different countries, save up for 1 trip and see where it goes from there.
I mean, all you have to pay for is a flight if you're from a western country. Living expenses here are clearly cheap
The best way is to stay single and not have kids 😎

The number of times we've gone shopping for socks with Harald, and it's still fun!
🤣👍🏻🤣👍🏻
And still I can only find 1.5 pairs....
@@HaraldBaldr Ha!
Yes yes yes a lovely shade of green socks and yellow shoes to match then asks about man stuff lol 😂 I've laughed my socks off today just can't wait to see the green socks and yellow shoes on with matching blonde hair so funny, but it is what it is bald no seen you for a while miss the video in Russia 🇷🇺
@@reefermane710 He's trying to
Harold always needs socks everywhere he goes.
What I adore the most is that Harald just Rome around remote areas where he can't understand a word still travel just for the content and fun things.....just awesome ..love from India....BURUNDI.....YES YES..
Yea your opniom is strong!!
Man I love these vlogs! They have a ‘relaxing element’ to them.
I come home after work, tea and dinner and just watch these vlogs :)
Hey, me too, but a sixer of Guinness and a gob of ibuprofen. Cheers.
Same
Haha facts . Love these vlogs.
@@iamwelch watch out for ibuprofen man. Take a stomach protecting med with it. Its known to damage the stomach lining which can cause lots of problems.
You could also use acetaminophen. Way less dangerous ✌🏽
Sometimes they give me anxiety lol
I love how you bless these people’s lives with a little extra money. It’s nothing to us, but so much to them. Thank you for your kindness ❤️
Everywhere Harald travels,he gives extra money to the seller’s ,but when he buy’s clothes for himself ,he cant afford ,you have a Beautiful heart,I hope you get many followers ,enjoy the trip where ever you are going and thank you for bringing all these beautiful places and recording for us and that we cannot go 🙏🙏
Didn't understand what you were saying
If you cannot understand read again slowly
Blessed to see the world at the comfort of my bed. Thanks Harald
dear Harald, thank you so much for trying local street food and supporting the local vendors. I love yr kindness and compassion. You are a Nordic angel! ha.
nords and angels what
I love Harald and Balds videos, always straight to the point no bs ad sponsors or promotions just like old school youtube.
Yes, buy a dress and wear it for the border crossing

🤣😂
Harald should be approved with this idea 🤣
What u serious ?😂😂😂😂😂
Yes yes burundii

Harald: I'm not so sure about your quality.
Eddie all of our clothes are made from asian countries. The difference is the currency.😹
@@tamaica7770 I agree :D
@@tamaica7770 Definitely you are right.
@@tamaica7770 And so often we pay 10 times as much for them. A lot of the clothes I have were made in Vietnam, I should have stocked up 50 years ago.
Eddie uuhhmmmmhuhmmh
There is nothing like waking up to a cup of coffee ☕️ and Harald Baldr 🛵 adventure on a Sunday morning 🌞
Makes me smile when I watch you brother especially love the times you pay extra to give to these hard working people. Must say everything is soo cheap here totally awesome your giving them a little extra it goes a long way for these people
The happy faces Harald gets when he tips are just GOLD!
Damn these Vietnam videos never get old. I'm telling you. Never.
The food was amazing. 🌷🌿
It was interesting seeing the shop owner's perspective with your camera. LOL
The guy could t care less. Just shove the camera in local people's face. Doubt he would be so rude in his own country.
Vietnamese pho’s always delicious 🍲!!! The best comfort foods I would say! Great video as always!!!!
His optimism about people fluently speaking English is astounding!
He's a fool for that🤣🤣
I spent a month in Vietnam, July/Aug this year. Highlight was a 3 day trip up to Sapa and a homestay with Hmong people. Absolutely luved Vietnam and the people.
I’m your real fans. Your videos makes me wanna go solo travel
Hey I'll go with you.
One of the best market invasions you have ever filmed. Very enjoyable!
😂 this is just what I needed to cheer me up on this rather miserable day the white albino vlog most interesting yet again keep safe and producing amazing videos x
@@IanRM cudnt get out as it was raining pouring down ☔ better to stay in and keep warm 😂 always a pick me up watching phuc flair and his latest vlogging Janet approves 😂😂😂
watching again after 3 years. love Haralds content.
Colorful like RAJASTHAN... 😘 LOVE FROM RAJASTHAN 😘
Sometimes i wonder how many times Harald have said ”Am i filming? No,im not...”
Quite often!
Indeed
Ahh we may have missed the real treasures :(
actually he said ‘am i fliming? yes , i am ‘ 😏😏
Yes Harold, Vietnamese live to bargain it seems. My wife was such fun to watch when she got here to the states, and I took her to an American flea market, she gave the dealers headaches with her bargaining skills. And she was fairly successful in bargaining even the hardest sellers there! 😂
Thank you for traveling and supporting our country.
“It’s a skirt for woman, I’m a man I want a skirt for man” dude this is gold😂😂😂
Nothing wrong with 🏴 kilt , och I dunoo laddy 😂👍
😂😂😂😂😂
That bowl you had looked one of the best served. Loaded and well presented, especially as this was a market. Plus at that price you cant go wrong. Such nice people.
After a long hectic day, all worth it to watch Harald!! that's called another progressive day.. 👌🤗
Great bargaining..
Looks still overpriced..
But good to buy from locals, supporting women's financially..
Thanks Harald for motivating us ...
Phuc Flair Baldr. Your living the life man! Always fun to watch your antic's as you travel the world.
I am loving the long videos harald! Also something different and better about your personality lately. It's like you are in a great mood, more than usual lol
Good video... I cannot stop laughing 😂🤣😆🤣😂 ! Thank you introduced my country to the world 🗺 🇻🇳🎥
If you comeback yen bai , I’ll you to other hill tribe market!
I like the way you did it, choosing places less known by travelers to learn more about the lives of the locals. Enjoy your trip
right on! HIs blog is so unique. I'm drawn.
I love your videos, Harald! Thank you for taking on the difficulty of filming, traveling, and communicating with people who don't speak the same language. You help show us how it's done OFF the beaten path. All these cool places and interactions you have with people are fascinating in the way you present them. I like your personality and have seen many of your videos. As much as you might hate it, I'd like to beat you somewhere and run into you on my own journey hahaha. Keep up the great work. Been watching your new videos on "Three Amigos" lately. Safe travels. :)
I cant stop giggling whenever u do “yes yes” to the locals.
15:43 she accepted 40,000 by telling you "Give me (the money)" but you didn't get it. You said "50,000" again, she was confused and shake her head at first, then realized you went back to 50,000 and she "UH UH UH" haha!
Lol!
i love the way I am not the only one who finds things like this interesting
Sunday afternoon, bad Wheater and now a Harald Video. Right Time yes yes Burundi🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
I couldn’t help to have tears on my eyes for your generosity to my poor people in VN.
Phuc Baldr is quite the negotiator
Harold, I don't usually comment on the videos that I watch but I wanted to say that I enjoy your videos. People don't get to see other cultures on a daily basis. This is humanity at normal speed. Thank you. Keep up the good work. It would be cool if you could drop in to strangers houses more often. LoL....this is the best!
I couldn’t have clicked any faster than I did lol. Love this channel👍🏽👍🏽
I am going to Vietnam 🇻🇳 because of you
Vietnamese are masters of fast food , no wonder that Mcdonalds failed in Vietnam.
Vincent T. Mcdonald failed in america ?? Lol
Shinichi Kudo oh shit mb
Someone's never been to Japan
How did they fail? They're all over Saigon
@@cerialkira the problem is Mcdonalds are too expensive and stress food is more cheaper
I how you travel off the beaten path and connect with the realest of people, and always put smiles on their faces. I enjoy your videos along with Mr. Bald, but you are my favorite. Shhh our secret. lol
Really unique hill tribe market! Interesting that they pull out their own money to show how much rather than write it down. Pretty smart! Great video once again!!
I really like your raw footage of my favorite country : )
"Today its no a pipes day" after last one i understand you >D..... I could spend all day on screen watching your adventures and contact with the real locals. looking forward to the next video. Keep it up
Man knows his limits. Great video. A communication gap, but everyone is smiling and that's what I like about these videos.
"Xin chào" from Viet Nam, I like your video and all comments on your video, it helps me to understand more about what people think about my country, good to hear, have a nice trip man :)
This is a great journey you have taken us on !!

Harold: "I'm not so rich, can't afford to buy two pairs of shoes a day."
Also Harold: *whips out iPhone 10*
2 dollar shoes at that
Maybe he's trying to show that he's still using iPhone 10 😂😂
That's y he's poor?
Spend big dollar on iphone 10 no money for two pair shoes.
@Silver Legion If you own nothing else then a Iphone 10 should be the last thing you should own....

This is a great channel. Could watch these videos all day.
"I wanna skirt for Men" - this will do wonders for the youtube algorithm 😄

you need to hit up Burma to get the man skirt
@@HaraldBaldr trying to buy a kilt in vietnam?
@@dazdragon445 Or Scotland but don't call it a skirt.
I like that you actually bought stuff at the market and supported these villagers, unlike a certain other vlogger who asks price, gets their hopes up and walks away
22:50, pho at its finest. You just stop, sit down, and eat it fresh for under a dollar. Now I'm hungry, but pho costs $15 a bowl where I live, so no pho for me.
It’s 9 here in San Diego, California.
@@Turtlemilk $9 is outrageous. Cali is beyond insane. I lived there and my old studio apt in West LA that was $595 / month is now $1495

Love your adventures, always fascinated me just how relaxed and comfortable you are in different surroundings , keep them coming and I think your hair looks great 😂😂😂 x
I'm a Vietnamese and i'm pretty sure this place is not Hai Phong. You can search for Hai Phong city on google maps and you will see its only 100 km far from Ha Noi.
You are in Phong Hải market, Bao Thang District, Lao Cai province.
Your videos are fulfilling my dream of travel. Thank you .
I like markets like this... 🙏
I like this channel because he travels with no script 💝
Man, Harald, you must have "guts made of steel!" I'm sure most Westerners would get the runs (diarrhea) from eating these foods. You rock! I love your easy going and friendly attitude - you are a great explorer off the beaten track. Skol!
Phuk Flair street food survival.....brought to u by Dukoral...... :)
The way he keeps ordering those coconut milk. I live around coconuts but they give me the runs.😞
Lovely video, I always enjoy watching your videos! keep it up 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
good deals at the market coz you still over pay a lot 🤣 but thats good for the locals 👍
You are so kind man.... You always show your kindness.... I love it....
Phuc baldr sees the woman butchering the meat. Then says " What a fun place!" - very progressive.
lmaoo
Her chopper was enormous
What WAS that meat??? I really wanted to know?? I felt like HARALD knew BUT WASNT SAYING??
L A probaly pork or beef. But I’m sure that’s pork

This is the only chanel on TH-cam where i spend most of the time. 😉👊🇳🇵
"Maybe Black Face Trudeau will wear those". Awesome!
I travel lots of years in Asia and europe too and do the same like you, that's why i look all your movies. Same experience. Continue making Harald video's. I enjoy it
Our Favourite Viking is back 🙌
Wonderful videos Harald, really enjoyed watching this and I love Vietnam and the great people there.
It's crazy how big their dishes are at these food stands and everyone is still so thin.
Its because they stay productive and active throughout the whole day for most people out there. Always working or on the go
continue watching your videos while enjoying the quarantine ,God bless you
Harald - "Hill tribe uniform"
Normal person - "Traditional dress"
Fascinating Adventure perhaps one of the best videos I've seen on TH-cam. I love it
I always use google translator in Vietnam 🇻🇳 very helpful.
These Hilltribe people are sweet people sweeter than honey bee.
Their food items are very delicious if you're lucky you will get delicious food,to get delicious food that's up to you.
Good luck for getting delicious food
Go to Church ? Mow the lawn ? Stay in bed and watch Harald ? I wish all decisions were this easy .
I love your vids. They’re very relaxing. I’ve always wished I could travel like that.
this is why I come here.. a man shopping for skirts
go to Scotland men there wear skirts
I’m amazed at how often Harald buys things and gets lots of change, but always hands over a huge note every time saying “can you change?” lol
While in Cambodia markets, I would bargain but in the opposite direction keeping a straight face the entire time. If I was told a pair of socks cost $1, I would insist on paying $2. If you want to see a lot of confused looks on shop owners faces, give it a try. You will also bring a lot of joy and laughter to those near by.
George Freeman no more rhymes I mean it
😅
Simple but effective way of communication like how it should be. They show you the denomination and you're sold. I am learning a great deal from your VLOGS. Next time, I guess I can travel light. I will only bring what's important & shop for the basics in my destination. Thanks! 😊
