Lol it's never going to be easy if you have tools like me. Im sure if you had a badass workshop with all the tools, it'd be quick. When you just have a monkey wrench & a bag of sockets, good luck.
This video doesn't talk about slide and idle position, which I guess could be a video of it's own. Since you were installing a new cable it would be nice to note where the slide is on the intake side so that the idle isn't so high the bike doesn't start. Think I have that problem with my bike because it had compression, fule, and spark but wouldn't start or try to start.
I could not find any video, pictures or step by step directions to do this on a 1998 KLX 300. I also tried all the forums I could find.- Any help appreciated..
Thanks a lot for thos vid! I want to change the throttlebody on my husky sms 125, because i wanna get these awesome emig lock-on grips. Can you recommend andy good and affordable options?
I am not very familiar with that bike but you shouldn't need to change your throttle body to put on lock-on grips. Lock-on grips will come with a few different throttle cams which will make them work on most motorcycles.
I've only managed to find double throttle cables for my single throttle cable 2 stroke derbi senda 2007 sm. Would it work with a double? Could they second one just act as a spare?
It sounds like you might need a longer cable or to check that the cable is routed correctly. Lubing the cable can't hurt so I would start with that and see if it fixes your problem.
hey, I have an xr50. I bought bbr tall bars and I need a longer throttle cable. I got it on and it wouldn't twist freely/smooth and it wouldn't even start it sounded like a gas issue. I'd kick it for like 10 times and nothing. Would not turn over at all. Do you have any idea what the issue would be? Anything would be a great help!!
What should i do if my throttle housing is broke (from the handle bar) Ive tried to test the throttle before i bougjt this project bike but the screws are seized in and i tried using an impact driver and only was able to get one screw out
My tf 125 suzuki has a problem electrical issue, it started when I was welding the tail light holder I only removed two cables on the tail lights Instead of the three of them from that time it has never given me a lights even my neutral light doesn't because of that and honing nothing what can I do.
You might want to take a look at your wires and see if they got damaged in the process. If they worked before you started welding, and didn't after they could be damaged.
Question: what is the grey looking grease under the throttle pulley? I have a 2019 TC65 and I am putting it back together but I neve knew I needed grease.. Also on the pulley collar does it get inserted from the top down or the bottom up.
I have an CR 125 2001 and I bought a new cable, but I can't get the little bolt that goes on top of my carb off of the old cable to install it on the new one, How can I do it?
Unfortunately, we only have graphic templates back to 1995 for the KDX 200 but if you'd like to send us the dimensions of the graphics you'd need we could get something made up for you. Feel free to email attackgraphics@rockymountainatv.com with any questions you have.
I have a 2012 rm85 l 2012 Suzuki and I bought a new throttle cable from Suzuki that they said would fit and when I put it into the carburetor part and in the throttle compound there’s to much slack in the throttle part so how do I tighten the slack
*John Romero* Have you taken the carb apart to look inside to make sure nothing is getting hung up? Do you have enough throttle cable free-play? I would start with these things and make sure the throttle body and needle are sliding properly and closing. Thanks
I have put two different new throttle cables on my 125 and they both have excessive free play. Both adjustments are as far out as they can go. This is the reason I replaced it and I'm starting to think it's not the cable length. Any ideas?
Got an mx175 and the throttle has 2 in synch cables. One already connected to the carb and the other is hanging with no idea where to attach it. Any ideas??
So I have dirtbike its high revving outno where when u start it up I just put new carb on it adjust the float all above nothing is right it keeps high revving by itself any suggestions why
Yes. You would want to pin point where the problem is occuring? Is it the throttle cable, is it gummed up and seized? Is the problem happening down in the throttle body of the carburetor? Is it a dual throttle cable system and do you have them hooked up in their correct (push and pull) position? Sometimes all cables need are a little cable lube and they'll come back to life, with smooth action. Other times you'll need to replace the throttle cable. Let us know what you figure out. Thanks for watching!
Its not recommended to use WD40 because it isn't a long-term lube. WD40 makes a gel lubricant that would be even better. But just regular cable lube is the best. Thanks for watching!
I've installed a new throttle and cable but when I start it, it just reves up to full throttle when the throttle tube isn't even turn?. What should I Do?
I can't believe we have to replace the entire housing when the cable brakes. Surely the manufacturers should allow you to just replace the cable, but all the guides I see seem very hacky how to do that.

John, try loosening the bolts that hole your throttle on and make sure that the end of your throttle tube isn't pressing on the outside of your bars. Sometimes that can make your throttle feel like it won't turn or really sticky.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC for all your 2 Stroke needs
Thx man. My cable snapped and I had no idea how I was going to fix it
Used this for my cr250 worked great! Only real difference was the throttle cap mechanism which was really a simple device.
That's great to hear! Glad it helped out!
If only it were that easy in real life.
It’s not hard it all
It literally is though
Lol it's never going to be easy if you have tools like me. Im sure if you had a badass workshop with all the tools, it'd be quick. When you just have a monkey wrench & a bag of sockets, good luck.
Its just hard as hell putting the carburator back in when there's barely room in between the frame and engine but it's still doable
My cable is not tryTrying to pop out of the slide I don’t understand how he effortlessly pulled it out

My Favorite 250 Build 👌🏽
I have a single throttle cable on a four stroke
When I turn to the right the bike revs as if it’s pulling the throttle, throttle route looks similar if not same as here, and suggestions

Does the slide just go back in with no problems or adjusting

Well put together and clear instructions
I’m have a 98rm250 and if it slide it forward or backwards it will shut the bike off or rev up
Great video, thank you

Clutch Cable Replacement coming soon! Thanks
About how much space between the slide and carb?
did this and now bike revs high and it never use to do that any solutions ???
I think your cable is to tight and it’s getting pulled
Great video, thanks!
My throttle revs hard when I turn the handlebars full right. Is it time for a new cable, or do I just need the lube adapter thing? Thanks!
It sounds like you might need a longer cable or to check that the cable is routed correctly. Lubing the cable can't hurt so I would start with that and see if it fixes your problem.
@@rmatvmc thanks!!!!
Very detailed video guys, thanks

Hey so I followed all these steps and my throttle is super tight now with no clay. What did I do wrong?
Which bike do you have? Did you make sure your adjusters aren't taking out any extra slack?

I have a kx85 and when I twist the throttle the cable starts wide open and I can’t find the reason it’s doing that

I had this problem on my yz250. It’s an 05 so turns out the cable just needed replacement

Donovin Ortiz check your idle screw
I mean yeah idle screw or something to do with the throttle cable maybe
Did you ever figure out the problem? I’m having the same EXACT problem as you right now and I’m researching what it could be
Brian Amideo figured out it was a binded throttle cable
my throttle won't even twist is there any way I can fix it
