My son picked up. John Deere 430 last year. This is the one with the long front end and Diesel. Awesome little tractors, he was lucky and found the blade and blower for it last fall. One tough little tractor and love the way they sound. He works for a local company that makes acc. for Deere and they told him they don't make them like that anymore.
yeh they don't make them things like they do same with trucks built around 60's to 70's them thing will have like 200,000 miles and they still run like a new truck built in 2018 just need a oil filter and fuel and that's it haha
Ryan, just a suggestion, drop your deck again before doing any mowing and pressure wash, let dry and then spray underneath side with graphite spray or slip plate. Helps prevent wet grass from sticking to deck
The deck wheels can swivel 90 degrees so you can roll it out sideways from under the tractor... the plastic belt shield doesn't like being driven over a whole lot...
Very good mowers as long as the maintenance has been kept up. We had a 445 with the 54 inch deck few years ago we bought new. It always was reliable and did an outstanding job around the property. Just 3 years ago we sold it off and bought a new jd garden tractor. Good luck with it. Hope to see it in future videos. :)
I like your style with tractors. Im all about 80s-early 00s garden tractorsI have a 318 and love it. Love the 4640. Growing up we had a few 40 series tractors and a couple 20 series. When I think k tractor I picture a 20-60 series. Keep the videos coming!
I have a JD 175 hydro thats 30 years old still runs great . I put some grease on the bolts that keep them from rusting. I also use a bench grinder to sharpen the blades once or twice a year.
attach a piece of light sheet metal for the shoot. I curled mine down and angild it a bit which deflected debri down and created a wind row, then I picked up the grass with a sweeper and fed it to the live stock. Cheep and easy to do.
I have a Gravely with a 60" mower deck and while the manual said I could back over it after disconnecting, I couldn't. Never occurred to me to place 2x4 and 4x4 in there to make it easier. D'OH!
On-line suppliers of JD Home Maint kits (OEM, tune up items, oil, filters, etc.) by tractor model . Local dealership prices vs added S&H fees for actual value. I by-pass the Big Box store offering. Larger JD, etc.lawn and garden supply stores (Dubuque?)may have a used discharge chute that fits your 60" mower deck. The 445 rig, good purchase, Cheers!
You make me laugh. ‘Travis found out the hard way about rocks when there is no chute’ *turns blades on top of the rock driveway*’ you must be brothers!!
Ryan when you get a chance can you look online and order some spring. I am chilly in California and i know its cold there. Also this video was released unlisted.
I moved away from fixed blades and replaced them with 'swing blades'. They give me a much better, smoother cut and they don't freak out if I run over a decent stick or rock. Maybe consider for your next blade swap? :)
I just drilled some holes and attached a hinge with a piece of metal on, when it's running the air holds it halfway up when it's off the weight pulls it down and out of the way.
We just put a couple pieces of old baler belting in place of the chutes... it'll deflect stuff down to the ground without being a big ol' honkin' piece of plastic sticking out the side that ends up getting mangled by trees or obstructions anyway... the old baler belts are heavy enough to keep stuff from flying out from under the deck (like rocks) but flexible enough to allow the clippings to push it up a bit to clear out from under the deck, and obstructions to simply flip them back out the way... a piece cut out of an old truck mudflap works good too... just bolt it to the deck with some fender washers and a few 1/4 x 20 bolts... (or a strip of metal with bolt holes in it is even better...) Later! OL J R :)
If you have not already found it, there is a cantilevered tensioner on the front linkage of the deck in the front bumper that way you should not need a pry bar to take off the back links
I have this exact mower but am struggling finding mulching blades that are 20 & 3/8 inches long with the correct center shaft hole. I can find ones that are 20 & 7/8 inches, but those are too big. Anybody have any recommendations? Or know the part number from John Deere for the correct blades?
I think that mower deck was used a few different models. If you join the John Deere Garden tractor group on the Facebook and did a shout out for that chute. I am willing to bet there is a dude out there sitting on a couple he would be willing to sell.
You don't need to buy a deck chute, you should make one out of sheet aluminum, tubing, rod stock and some rubber sheet material. I always keep used materials like that when found or salvaged from other parts to make needed parts. You'd think a farmer would be more resilient on solving parts shortages.
Only if your time is cheaper than the chute. With all of the activities surrounding spring planting, I doubt he wants to waste several hours for a $30 part.
I wouldn't put a chute on it it piles the grass in a wind row especially when cutting high grass. Always first of I make is removing the chute! What we're you mowing with before this?
You could put chains over the end to stop rocks and things from shooting out like a brush hog. We did that on our old ford ride on and it works perfect just make sure you don’t have them to long as to have the possibility of hitting a blade on steep hills
Put a new water pump on. I have a 445. You'll need one. Make sure you keep your air filter clean. That screen on back side of radiator pulls out so you can clean radiator.
new haying cutter,,, I got a garden way 60" deck for mine as I didn't like that pop can thin deck, the roller wheel arm brake off that deck, my 60" garden way deck take 2 good guys to flip it up, 2 guys can not ift the whole deck off the ground, it also has a lot more rollers under my deck so if the ground is not even it never cuts into the ground
Installed these on a riding mower th-cam.com/users/postUgkxetgfkJxfdT_B2vGYP-uNTLaBbim9OKTD . They were sharp out of the box, although I've never liked blade edges that were coated...not quite as sharp as I personally want. Using my belt sander, I removed the coating from the cutting edges and refined the edge enough to shave with them. So far, after three runs, these blades are holding up as expected. Even after hitting a few fallen 1/2 inch or so branches, the edges are still sharp as heck. No edge dings, no warping, etc. As far as installing them, the cutouts were of the proper size and shape to fit my aging Craftsman mower. Very satisfied.
Check Facebook. Lots of pages that sell used lawn and garden parts. Good tractor. I have a 455. I've never backed over the deck though. I usually muscle it out the side lol
This was a good purchase, especially given its condition and age. While it's definitely on the smaller end, the mower is a great addition to your fleet of Deere tractors. Hopefully, nobody has any "Oops" moments before you get the discharge chute mounted. It will get your lawn mowed a lot more quickly than your other mower did. The PTO shaft drive for the mower deck has to be more reliable than the belt drive that comes with a lot of lower-end mowers. It'd be really interesting if RhinoAg sent you some heavy-duty attachments that were custom built for it, because we all know by now how good their stuff is.
You couldn't get me to buy new blades if you gave me the money for them :) I just hit it with a grinder and re-sharpen them, until I eat through so much metal I get afraid they will shear if I hit a rock or stump.
The better quality (more expensive) lawn tractors usually are done that way. All the el-cheapo junk we always had (what we could afford) just had the double engine pulley on the front and shifted the deck in gear with a spring loaded idler pulley... Later! OL J R :)
Price for a windshield, window, supervising father-friend-girl, dog versus price for a discharge cover??Not to be a safety sally but they really are cheap insurance. Especially with you mowing near the highway. Even a home made version. Piece of mud flap works in a pinch!Glad it appears to be a good buy for you. Any thoughts for future attachments?
Ryan I believe I have a almost brand new OEM (maybe used once or twice) chute off of the exact same 60” deck if you’re interested In purchasing it let me know and I can check to make sure I still have one. I’d sell it to you for half the price of a new one
I love the fact that you have a barn to keep all of your EXPENSIVE equipment in. We never had that back in the 50's and 60's. Love your videos.
My son picked up. John Deere 430 last year. This is the one with the long front end and Diesel. Awesome little tractors, he was lucky and found the blade and blower for it last fall. Those 430's are real nice. I've been looking at one on Craigslist. I just don't know if I may want to go with something like a 1025R.
there are different leagues a 430 compared to a 1025's
I have a 430 problem could you contact me ... on it.
Ryan, just a suggestion, drop your deck again before doing any mowing and pressure wash, let dry and then spray underneath side with graphite spray or slip plate. Helps prevent wet grass from sticking to deck
Love the subtle jab at your brother's mishap...lol what are brothers for!🤣
The deck wheels can swivel 90 degrees so you can roll it out sideways from under the tractor... the plastic belt shield doesn't like being driven over a whole lot...

Nice. I have been changing harrow disk all day
Here is a tip for you spray slip plate or graphite on the bottom of your mower deck will keep the grass from sticking and building up on your deck.
Ridin' Green dido. Are you the riding green from lawnsite?
I like your style with tractors. Im all about 80s-early 00s garden tractorsI have a 318 and love it. Love the 4640. Growing up we had a few 40 series tractors and a couple 20 series. When I think k tractor I picture a 20-60 series. Keep the videos coming!
We used to use our 445 for scraping the barn. It now has 3200 hrs on it and was also new in 2001
I love your videos! You always make my day when I watch your videos. Thanks for making my day better!
I have a JD 175 hydro thats 30 years old still runs great . I put some grease on the bolts that keep them from rusting. I also use a bench grinder to sharpen the blades once or twice a year.
I luv my 445, 54in mower, and the 48in blower!!
attach a piece of light sheet metal for the shoot. I curled mine down and angild it a bit which deflected debri down and created a wind row, then I picked up the grass with a sweeper and fed it to the live stock. Cheep and easy to do.
More added to your farm’s long green line.Good luck with your buy.
Simular set up of my John Deere Sabre.
I have a Gravely with a 60" mower deck and while the manual said I could back over it after disconnecting, I couldn't. Never occurred to me to place 2x4 and 4x4 in there to make it easier. D'OH!
Cut and bolt a rubber truck mud flap on for a chute works great and flexible
Ryan as a tip you could take a piece of old tire and bold it to the deck.
Turn wheels on mower deck roll it right out by hand works well made to do so good luck to always
The EFI is awesome for starting up.
Add some grease or anti-seeze to the blade bolt. It makes life so much easier in the long run.

You have a nice truck
You make me laugh. ‘Travis found out the hard way about rocks when there is no chute’
*turns blades on top of the rock driveway*’ you must be brothers!!
Shouldn’t be a problem as long as you keep the deck up! Rocks don’t mow too well! Lol
So did my dad lol.. broke a big picture window
That was cool the mower was made on my birthday
New channel name= How the john deere works:D
Ryan when you get a chance can you look online and order some spring. I am chilly in California and i know its cold there. Also this video was released unlisted.
Is Andrew bringing you an ag leader monitor for the 445?
I moved away from fixed blades and replaced them with 'swing blades'. They give me a much better, smoother cut and they don't freak out if I run over a decent stick or rock. Maybe consider for your next blade swap? :)
Cool tractor
Are they standard lift blades. Our can you get a higher lift blade for it... Thanks for sharing Ryan...
At 2:25 4 of my favorite style of tractors
I have the same mower. It's so loud when it's running. Any idea what the problem could be?
Pretty nice machine
I just drilled some holes and attached a hinge with a piece of metal on, when it's running the air holds it halfway up when it's off the weight pulls it down and out of the way.

Make a chute from some used baker belt. It will be flexible if you run it against something
FYI
The cold full line is that very bottom line on the tank. Between the two top lines is what it should be between when at operating temp
Look in to gator blades for your mower. They make it a mower. Don’t worry about the shout it makes it clump and make a mess.
Be sure to tell the mower Happy Birthday on Wednesday!
Hey Ryan what are you going to do with those blades they have high carbon content I would like them is it possible you could maybe send them my way
There is a removable screen on the radiator that you take out and can clean the radiator out better
If you have not already found it, there is a cantilevered tensioner on the front linkage of the deck in the front bumper that way you should not need a pry bar to take off the back links
John Deere should send you the chute for your brand loyalty.
John Deere sends you nothing but the bill........ I speak from experience.
That's ALL manufacturers though... at least the major manufacturers...
Later! OL J R :)
This was published on my birthday
I have this exact mower but am struggling finding mulching blades that are 20 & 3/8 inches long with the correct center shaft hole. I can find ones that are 20 & 7/8 inches, but those are too big. Anybody have any recommendations? Or know the part number from John Deere for the correct blades?
Hey Ryan we have a 455 and same beck and wanted to tell u that the decks aren’t back over becks
I think that mower deck was used a few different models. If you join the John Deere Garden tractor group on the Facebook and did a shout out for that chute. I am willing to bet there is a dude out there sitting on a couple he would be willing to sell.
Great video

Buckhorn Cortez He said it was $100+. I'd throw on a piece of sheet metal to protect my windows, too.
What camera do you use for filming?
3:44 this is ASMR in my ears. Don't ask me why.
John On Discord he should do asmr farming, hold on I got this
Very very good video Ryan how is Jamie doing
We used a piece of rubber for the chute
Smash that "Thumbs Up" button folks!
rivet or bolt some rubber or plastic on the shield area for safety
If you mow counterclockwise around the house you’ll never have the discharge pointing at the house
You’ll need an analog watch
I think you are a John Deere fan boy. Surprised you didn't get a John Deere skid steer as well.
A little angle grinding?
Do u guy still have snow ❄️
GREEN RULES !!
Looks good. Should make you a nice mower.
Can you do a review on the 445?
I wouldn't put a chute on it it piles the grass in a wind row especially when cutting high grass. Always first of I make is removing the chute! What we're you mowing with before this?
I think he mowed with the John Deere X730 of his dad.
You could put a chute on it that can be lifted and then only dropped when there is something breakable in range.
You could put chains over the end to stop rocks and things from shooting out like a brush hog. We did that on our old ford ride on and it works perfect just make sure you don’t have them to long as to have the possibility of hitting a blade on steep hills
Tyler’s 6.0 where do out these chains? Discharge chute?
That’s a really good idea.
Not a bad mower. Being me I would get a mud flap, some 1/4" bolts and fender washers. Then make my own shoot considering the cost.
Yep works better than the stupid factory chutes anyway... OL J R :)
Just out of curiosity is that a diesel version or gas
Are you going to keep that lawnmower
If you don’t think the hydraulic filter has ever been changed you diffidently want to change the oil too. It’s John Deere low viscosity hygard
Put a new water pump on. I have a 445. You'll need one. Make sure you keep your air filter clean. That screen on back side of radiator pulls out so you can clean radiator.
I'd get a length of conveyor belt and make mine own chute. All you need it for is to deflect rocks.
I see that there is hydraulic connections for a loader are you thinking about getting a loader for your mower
What kind of camera do you use?
new haying cutter,,, I got a garden way 60" deck for mine as I didn't like that pop can thin deck, the roller wheel arm brake off that deck, my 60" garden way deck take 2 good guys to flip it up, 2 guys can not ift the whole deck off the ground, it also has a lot more rollers under my deck so if the ground is not even it never cuts into the ground
What year is that 445.. Also for the chute get a Truck Mud flap cut and bolt it too it. Bam good to go.
What happened to the new X7xx that he had last year??
That’s my parent’s
You can turn the deck wheels sideways and slide it out instead of driving over
put a edge diesel performance on it and a turbo so you can rake in the field☺☺☺☺☺

Use a couple of old license plates to make the discharge
so sad Ryan that folks don't do maintenance on their equipment.
Have you ever thought about concreting a portion of your mechinery shed and in close walls and make a shop!
This was a good purchase, especially given its condition and age. While it's definitely on the smaller end, the mower is a great addition to your fleet of Deere tractors. What about the x730?
That was my parents
I wish I could do farm day but I live in new hampshire
What happened to that brand new mower you had and did a video review on a while back
That was my parents.
Bearings sound fine on that deck- but you should have put a new belt on the deck and hung the used one on the wall as a spare.
Hows the belt on it Ryan you can find chute on eBay .
You couldn't get me to buy new blades if you gave me the money for them :) I just hit it with a grinder and re-sharpen them, until I eat through so much metal I get afraid they will shear if I hit a rock or stump.
Nøderak $$
Are u gonna use it for cutting the lawn
longford gaming! no I think Ryan is going to use it for bush hogging or cutting hay for baling.
Wayne Rogers aright
4-18...its almost the mowers birthday...whats ya guna get it?
Is it a diesel?
Nope!
I might sound weird and all, but I have never seen a mower run its deck off of a pto!
or will 3 blades under the deck!!!
The better quality (more expensive) lawn tractors usually are done that way.
All the el-cheapo junk we always had (what we could afford) just had the double engine pulley on the front and shifted the deck in gear with a spring loaded idler pulley...

Why did u buy this mower, when u have x735
You should have got a 455 Evan better start ups
Ryan I believe I have a almost brand new OEM (maybe used once or twice) chute off of the exact same 60” deck if you’re interested In purchasing it let me know and I can check to make sure I still have one. I’d sell it to you for half the price of a new one
Ryan I just checked and I do have a brand new chute with bolts and hardware included Never been used! if you’re interested let me know
