How Farms Work is a TH-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. Our videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and GMO crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

I’ve been using the catalog on our 3350 tractor for years, it really is a great guide every part of the machine is on there with parts numbers so if something is broken you can buy a new part without even taking it apart first!

Those part instructions are really good because my dad work as an service manager for John Deere in the agricultural department and they use the same instructions.

I have a lawncare and landscape bissness so my mowers are zero turns and a lot more expensive, but that was a quick and easy fix!

Thank you Ryan for all your hard work. I had no idea how long it took to get these videos up? Although, you have mentioned it before. This stuff is not in my wheelhouse.
Most my videos can be put together within 2-3 hours. Sometimes I spend up to 6 hours on some, just because I want them to be perfect. The 360 videos though are literally Satan reincarnated.

I guess I'm one of the many new subscribers. One of your videos was recommended to me and I've found them to be very well done. It's hard to believe you work all day and then spend all evening editing these videos to the quality that they are. I just finished binge watching the channel of a young trucker who did the same--drove all day and edited video and drone footage at night in the cab. You've probably answered this many times over but what drone do you use for your footage? The closest I've been to farming myself is Farming Simulators on the PC, but I've always found it curiously interesting and respected the work of those who do. Anyhow, glad to be here. I'll keep looking around and so long and thanks for all the food.

I'd have been tempted to lift the mower up with the skidsteer, it beats breaking your back & working on a dusty floor..... Done that many many times in the past.
For a video you should show all of your equipment that you own. That would be cool. Maybe even say when you got and some history. Just an idea
How many bales of hay did you guys make in the last lawn mower video?
My Dad explained to me once that grass is a plant, and in order for it to be healthy it shouldn’t be cut low. I mow my grass as high as I can for health and also so the grass naturally chokes off weeds. I live in town so I know this doesn’t really matter out on the farm, but thought it might be of interest to you in any case.

Use a felt tip marker
That is usually caused by people stepping on the mower deck when it is not resting on the group. It puts too much stress on the lifting mechanism.

Hope you don't mind my input. The JD 445 has a fuel injected gas engine.
hoophil. Oh ok. I thought it may have been a deisel. I saw a video of 455 turbo deisel. Look up John deere turbo deisel mower.
425 and 445 are Kawasaki liquid cooled V twin gas engines, 455 is a 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel.
