Aw! The little ugly duckling fabric square doesn’t want to be left out. She becomes a beautiful swan when surrounded by others.😍🤗🙏
Good Afternoon, Beth, I really enjoyed your video today and I found the music relaxing as you were sewing. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful time on your camp out. 🥰❤️🥰 Chris
How blessed you are to be able to travel and quilt. It is a pretty, cheerful quilt!❤
I really like four patch blocks and your on point version is lovely. Any "ugly fabric" is certainly well hidden. ❤🇭🇲
Thank you for letting us tag along on your get-away! I love traveling, Airstreams & Featherweights and with you, your relaxing music and what I’m sure, will be a beautiful quilt it was a perfect coffee & me morning. Looking forward to seeing the finished project once you’ve rescued your “not so pretty” fabrics into your “Ugly Fabric Make-Over Quilt!!”😊❤
Beth, it's not only your sewing is beautiful, not only your ideas are beautiful; your soul is so beautiful too 😍🤩
Now that is the kind of vacation I would love!
Beth, I really think the background colors make this "ugly material" quilt pop. It always amazes me how you can use your scraps in simple but elegant quilts. I've been using my scraps for crib sized quilts, place mats, and runners for our church bazaar next summer. I appreciate all the ideas you're not giving me.
What fun! Thank you for taking us along with you on your trip 😊
Thanks! Beth, you help me stay in today! Your calming demeanor and sewing gift. Sending prayers for you and your family. Blessings, peace and comfort! Lindsay Jones
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support!❤️
Putting any block on point not only dresses it up, but allows one to get more quilt real estate without much more effort!. And using these triangles to frame provides a lovely neutral space for the eye.
Beautiful way to use your scraps. Thank you for sharing this block with us!😊
Your framing colors definitely tame down those uglies! Great quilt! There is something so satisfying to just sew four patches. I always have a small basket of squares close to my machine.
Thank you! I love watching how you combine fabrics. That is so cute!
I had an 34 foot airstream years ago. It was before I was quilting. I made many friends along the way. My favorite trip was the international rally in Hershey PA. Enjoy your travels and quilting
That sounds fun!
Hello Beth, cute little blocks, thanks for sharing.
I have that exact same print of the pink and brown! I think it’s ugly also! Haha! Great idea on what to do with it.
This shows what you can do with a simple 4 patch. I really like the denim and yellow that you sewed to each side of the 4 patches. It really unifies this scrappy quilt. You are right, it is an easy way to hide an ugly fabric!! I will have to remember that.
Small but mighty neat sewing space. Great take along project.
Very relaxing music. You are a true quilter, taking supplies with you😅. Very enjoyable video.
Thank you! 😊
You are truly blessed to travel so well. thanks for the idea.
The blocks look really nice
We used to camp in our RV. Once I took a bunch of cut pieces to make charity quilts while we were on a long trip. I tried to think of everything I needed from sewing machine to thread. Just one thing missing: the power cord! After trying to buy one to no avail, my husband bought me a new machine. He was a great guy and so supportive. Loved your video!
My husband would do the same!😊
I hope you you are having fun with your Airstream friends. It looks warmer there than here in Oregon. It was 31 degrees Fahrenheit the last 2 last nights! Burrrrr 🥶😯
It’s been pretty windy and chilly… but not too bad👍
That looks like a fun time. Plus sewing time, what could be better. You know the old saying about ugly fabric. If it is still ugly, you haven't cut it small enough.😅 Looks like you accomplished that. Very nice. Enjoy yourself.
Since I am "scrapy", challenged, I can only be amazed by your ability to use/put together/ even own some of these fabrics. Totally congrats on that skill. I have brain glitches even with very carefully planned "scrap" quilts. I can buy multiple fabrics and come up with a plan & a pattern as I'm buying it all. Scraps are my "Waterloo"???!!! Love your skills, so enjoy your videos. Thank you
Thank you so much!
Good evening Beth,, I love when you take us with you in your campervan, because it reminds me so much of my own trips in our homemade caravanette that my dad made out of an old Ford Transit van. The big Airstreamers are beautiful machines and haven't changed that much since they came out, but wow do you have space in them. Sorry, i'm totally off topic but my dad was car mechanic and i adored him and loved getting in amongst the various vehicles he sorted. I love the old models of vehicles just like he did and find beauty in them, so thank you for sharing your holiday snaps with us.
This quilt top is just perfect for something to do while you're away and with your wee portable old sewing machine, it's ideal and doesn't take up much room. How does your daughter enjoy being away in the camper? or is this down time for you to recharge your batteries once more, because i can totally understand that. I have an Autistic son and grandson who gets no help from anyone, so i can totally see the recharging of our own batteries as a necessity just to be able to cope with home life. My son is getting better bit by bit, but my little grandson is 8 and is mute and gets so frustrated because we can't understand what he is trying to say, but onwards and upwards, eh. I asked him on Thursday what was the matter and he said "matter" back, crikey you would have thought i had won the lottery. People will think, so what, he said matter, but it is an enormous boost when we can get him to say even one word. I hope that you have a lovely time away flower and enjoy meeting up with your Airstream friends. Sending crafty hugs, Norah, Glenochil, Central Scotland
Blessings to you and I am celebrating with you over your grandson’s word. The love of a mother and grandmother is inspiring and a gift

Hello, it’s so encouraging that your grandson said a word! 🎉 I hv no experience with autistic kids, but as I was reading what you wrote, it brought my mind a friend who taught her infants baby sign language before they were able to speak. The children were able to sign whether they were hungry or thirsty or tired or needed a hug or whatever it was. And you know those children learned to read adult level reading material before they ever entered kindergarten because their language center developed by using the sign language. Isn’t that interesting? I wonder if something like that might help an autistic person who is mute to learn to communicate better? If so it might eliminate some of the frustration, and also gradually help them with their speech. Just an idea from someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. 😃 🌷
Many thanks Susan for reaching out to me with your incisive words because i too have thought about children like Harry being taught sign language. I learned basic sign language many decades ago and really need to take a refresher course. Your friend had a good brain on her to teach her children this very useful tool, but it also gives her children another ability to their arsenal of talents for later in life. Harry could speak really well until suddenly he stopped for no apparent reason when changed to a different room at the Nursery that he went to. The amount of staff was less and the lass that was in charge of that room, Harry just screamed any time he was taken back there. Now i had an autistic (if he had been tested), son (who was double jabbed with the MMR vaccine), and now Harry, who had nothing wrong for the first 3 years. Do you just suddenly become autistic overnight? i don't think so unless there has been catalyst to bring it about, but my son and grandson were definitely not born Autistic. THank you flower for taking your time to write to me and show caring, i very much appreciate it. Norah, Glenochil, Central Scotland
@@35803 Many thanks for caring enough to comment , i very much appreciate your kindness. Norah
@@carolentringer8836 THank you so much for your kindness Carol, it's such a simple thing to so many other people, but for me it means the world, even if it is just one word at a time. Crafty hugs, NOrah
I am not a camper but I love your Airstream! That along with your Featherweight and your cozy sewing corner are the perfect setup. This is going to be such a cute quilt. A square in a square is one of my favorite blocks so it looks so good. Happy quilting and camping………………..
Another block I must try. I am "camped out" in my sewing room on this rainy day😊
I am enjoying seeing all those Airstreams together, and your small
Sewing area!!
Thanks for this wonderful idea for scraps! I love the idea of a binding drawer! I bet I have enough binding leftover to start one 😉! Loved that you put this on point! The yellow & blue coordinate with the other fabrics too!
The blocks look beautiful together!
Thank you Beth for another winning tutorial. I so enjoy your channel. ❤️
I just made a strip quilt from 6$ ugly thrift store fabric. I washed it and cut it in strips. It ended up making the prettiest scrappy quilt. Such a nice way to quilt and not think. Very relaxing to not have to worry about matching and perfect piecing. Hope you had lots of fun on your getaway.
Thank you for sharing your holiday project. Really loved the colours in the blocks. xx
The ugly ones mix and mingle with the pretty ones. It all works. I always love your quilting contributions. Have fun on your Airstream trip....the area looks nice 😊
Love this style of scrappy quilt. I've been cutting and saving 2.5" squares for a project like this one 😍 Also it was great to see all those airstreams - something I only usually see in American films 😁
Thank you for sharing your great idea what we can do with those fabrics we a not so fond of.😃 wonderful to take with on a RV trip 👍
My favorite scrap quilts. 😊
We bought a camper last summer and my husband is begging me to take my quilting, so I have something to do while he is fishing. After seeing your setup, I'm going to try it!
I felt like I was right there with you (even though I was at home knitting. )
How cool, love the airstream
I love how ugly duckling fabrics become fun and attractive in scrap quilts! 😊
Its looks like you all is having fun besides
Sawing ❤❤😅😊
I love it !!! You are amazing!!!!
I love Airstreams!! Thank you for sharing your sewing and Airstream journey
For ironing you might want to get a wool pressing mat. They are sturdy and come in various sizes. They have them with one side for pressing and the other for cutting.
What a fabulous idea!! Thanks for sharing!!! Enjoy your travels!!!
I’ve heard it said that if a fabric is still ugly, you hvnt cut it small enough! Lol 😂 Your quilt is gorgeous!🌷
GREAT lesson!!! Love that quilt
Hi Beth! What fun to get to see all those Airstreams all in one place!! Looks like a beautiful day! I've been told many times "it's YOUR quilt, do what you want!" as far as adding the flannel 😊😊 Many years ago in Guild, we did an "Ugly Betty" fabric swap. At the time I didn't have all the fabrics I do now & I looked at them & couldn't really find an "ugly" fabric, so I just picked one to exchange. We had to put a certain size piece in a brown paper sack, exchange them & make something with the fabric we were given. Allowing us obviously to add to it. It was quite fun & I got a really cute little wall hanging back with what I put in my sack.
Watching you & Pat Sloan, I have a little tub of 2 1/2" squares. I was going to do a checkerboard-type block like Pat does, but I like your idea as well & could cut up lots of my 2 1/2" strips to use, also. 😊😊
Cute sewing machine. Have 2 baby nephews due.
Lovely project Beth XxX
Superb Beth..thank you for sharing …Dottie x
Thank you! 😊
Yet another gorgeous quilt Beth even with your "ugly" fabrics, they always turn out lovely
That is going to be an awesome quilt Beth, all those not so liked fabrics are pairing well with each other Thank you for showing what you do sometimes on your trips xx
I love your music…..very relaxing while watching you sew. Those ugly squares turned into a beautiful quilt. ❤
A good way to add some pizzazz to a four patch. I personally just sewed a fair amount of them, so I’ll have to keep it in mind using square in a square. Thanks Beth for sharing. 👍❤️😊
get you one of those little wool ironing pads you can get one that is about 5x7 And they are fantastic!
Love the ugly quilt blocks…love how you set them on point! Enjoy your trip!
Absolutely beautiful. I love scrappy quilts that is what my grandmother taught me
Hi Beth,, Thanks for a great video! Love your quilt😊
A great scrap quilt Beth. Have fun on your trip.♥️🇦🇺
I currently am working on a strip baby quilt on my Featherweight. Thanks for the video!!
I absolutely love this! I love that you are using flannel. Such a cozy quilt.
Love it!!
I hope you had a great time on your vacation!
I do like the blue and yellow fabrics to beautify the "uglies"!!
That quilt is so pretty. I love scrappy quilts. Thanks for scaring with is Beth!❤😄
Such a calming tutorial to watch! Loved every minute of it. You’ve inspired me AGAIN! Thank you.
Nice calming video. I've never seen inside an Airstream but understand they are quite nice. Really cool having so many like minded people together. Your blocks are great.
love the patchwork, a very pretty quilt
thanx for sharing
You’re braver than me Beth 😉 I would resort to my “ safety blanket” of freezer paper for those diagonal triangles.
I'm currently making these same blocks but using polka dot , gingham and striped fabric! I love this scrappy version though,! Enjoy your trip😊
Your airstream look amazing. I don’t think we have those In the uk. I can’t see any ugly patches they all look lovely jumbled up together. another lovely quilt top Beth . Enjoy your trip away.
How calming!
Really nice air stream get-away.
Love your tiny machine.
I just love this!
Well, that's just as cute as can be. You should see the ugly quilt I'm working on. Yuck. I bought a jelly roll that looked so pretty, but when it was unrolled, the strips were dull and I couldn't tell if it would be for a boy or a girl. To top that off, I'm making a bear paw pattern with scads of triangles, another ugh. Then! I sewed the paws the wrong way and had to pick out and do over. What a mess. I need an Airstream vacation! What does your husband do while you're sewing? Yeah, nosy question. Thanks and have a fun time!
My husband did a bit of work and took our daughter to play some basketball 🙂
Beautiful! Hope to do the same, if I ever get to retirement and can travel with my husband and our cat!
It turned out great for not so favorite fabrics. Nice job.
The sewing machine you are using is just like the one my mom had and I learned to sew on
Lovely quilt ❤
Love the sewing in the Airstream!! 💙🧵
Hi Beth! I always enjoy your videos, and this simple quilt is exactly what I need to make soon as "quilt therapy"!
Another great quilt idea...I have made a few from your videos....I was blessed with alot of different blocks cut different sizes...I'm seeing another quilt idea in my future...and I don't see a problem with using flannel and cotton fabrics together...people use Minky and fleece on the back of quilts...I love it!!!
great idea! always looking for a simple travel project!
Lovely ❤
I love the airstream quilting. Nice to know you can do it on the move! Love from West Australia.🇦🇺💖
Looks like fun
It’s a lovely quilt 😍, thank you for sharing 😊
Looks fabulous
🎶💐💖 Outdoor sewing. Enjoy.
💖💖💖
❤❤❤❤❤❤
😀
🌹👍❤️ Супер!
Pretty block. What size blocks are yellow ones?
Blocks finish at 6 1/2”
Be sure those persimmons are ripe before you eat them. 😂😂😂
What foot do you use on your Featherweight for sewing seams?
I’m using standard straight stitch foot
Nice! Could you tell us your location or at least what state that you’re in?
Pismo beach👍
The use of "ugly" fabric to make a quilt top so that nothing goes to waste is in the true spirit of the frugal quilters of the 1930s and earlier. Waste not want not.
