  • HI! We're back with Part 24 of the Fury rebuild! This time we'll be starting the bodywork on the car after we strip all of the old paint and finish a few last dents and adjustments! We'll also have a look at the damage on the back of the Citroen DS and sort out this old repair that was not done very well. Dean stops in to help and I even got him blocking the Fury when he's not wheeling and dealing his junkers, haha! A quick look at Agent 7889's Winter Beater Subaru after an unfortunate bumper incident will round out the festivities...

I've known body men from the SoCal custom shops of the '60's (Watson, Barris etc.) and body men/fabricators from Harrah's auto collection in Reno. You my friend are in that very exclusive club. I thoroughly enjoy each and every video. Coldwarmotors has become the top of my watch list. Packard, Chrysler, Hudson.... so many great classics and so little time.

It's really amazing what you've done with this plymouth (60). I have a long history with plymouth cars. Two of my uncles bought them new in fall of '59. I always admired the fins on the '60. But this one is beyond anything I've ever seen. With what you started with I had many doubts about how it would go. Very professional work. Back in the day we called guys with your skills " tinknockers", and they were very skilled as are you. I thought they were all gone. It's really special to see you work. I look forward to seeing the completed product!

Always a pleasure watching you work. When you were using the ram in the rear of the DS it reminded me of a '68 Barracuda convertible I bought in high school for junk because it had over 100,000 miles and the drivers door and rear quarter behind the door was pushed in. I used a bumper jack with a 2 x 4 and sledge to straighten It out. Worked pretty good. A friend asked to fix the door as he was in BOCES, a vocational school and wanted to take the care but I needed the car for work and just took the door off and gave it to him. It came out nice. Was lucky we had good weather while he had the car. I was racing a friend who had a '66 Gto and some lady saw and called the police that a GTO and a red car missing one door were racing, lol. Never heard anything though.
Also, when you mentioned the fender work didn't match up on the Fury when you worked on the fender separately it reminded me of a '72 Javelin I where the rear passenger fender was dented and I ended up using pieces of steel rods were maybe an 1/8th of inch in diameter I bent to the shape of the good side every few inches and used them to align the damaged side. Worked out well. Just a thought.
Thanks so much for sharing. Really wish I could help you out on patreon but being on a fixed income just don't have the money. I do give $20 a month to operation smile to help kids out with deformities as my brother was born with a cleft palate and saw all the 'shit' he had to go through.

That thinner metal sure sounds different when you bang on it !! The metal has a "memory". It's just convincing it to "remember" and go back to where it started. ;o) Watching you, it all points to "not being afraid of the metal" and making sure it knows "who is in charge". Love watching and hearing all the reasoning !! Must be "sick" !! Since a kid, always loved watching "work" being done. Including watching big earth movers move dirt and cranes lifting things. Your channel "illustrates" so much skill. It's very entertaining and refreshing for someone my age and with my interests.

My first thought is usually a sledgehammer or a chainsaw. This and several other good reasons are why I am neither a carpenter or a body man.

When Scott takes his hammer out, you're going to witness some high level metal work. You'll learn and will be entertained by his knowledge and application thereof. Guaranteed! The agents assisting are doing great work as well. Dean is a very good block sander. He and Frankers need to wear respirators.

I have that SAME gray, dull pair of vicegrips! At least 50 years old, from my Dad's old wooden toolbox.
Down here in NY, we would have put our feet up on the potbelly stove, hoisted a couple and waited until the spring thaw to put that skin back on the Saturn. Great how the cold brings out the best yuks up north, there. Think Dean got a few new fans too, with his squeezebox-slinky-on-the-stairs laughter.
We might never have to worry that this channel will get ruined, because the measured pace will simply never attract the average short attention spanned Tube viewer; we, the fiercely loyal subscribers can enjoy our favorite group of talented misfits without getting elbowed out. Huzzah! Huzzah, I say!

I've never worked on cars except oil changes and brake jobs in my entire 64 years. Ironically my wife has worked in the auto body industry. Still I never miss an episode. I do love the cars. Scott and his army of agents are so much fun we feel like we've known you guys for years.

Scott the magic you can work with sheet metal is simply amazing. It is evident you truly believe that the job needs to be done right or don't bother.
