Thank you very much, very nice tips. As far as understand you get the main idea from Barry Harris's workshop video. Could you please state that which one is this? I would like to deep down with the book as well :)

In this video actually, not quite so much - although it's all present in Barry's DVDs (the 1st DVD set.) These kind of licks will be familiar to anyone who has spent time going over bebop lines... .The dim symmetry stuff is well known - check out Pat Martino for instance.... And the perpetual scale exercise is a classic. If you check mymusicmasterclass.com you'll see it mentioned by Mike Moreno and Chico Pinheiro among others. Also I reference Hal Galper's Forward Motion, a great book.

Quite a few people have said that bebop is the study of the dominant chord (and how it resolves.) In contrast non-functional modern harmony is the study of the major chord... (Another vid :-))

BTW on musicmasterclass.com you can find vids by Barry's students and colleagues including Pasquale Grasso and Roni Ben-Hur.

I will check them as well . Thank you very very much for detailed answer. For a while I have been following your posts, very very nice topics. I have got the Barry's book after your posts, it's quite helpful, please keep posting. Best regards

this is great sounding stuff. what are you basing this lead approach on or where is this lead approach thoroughly covered? i'd like to learn more

iloverumi heya not sure how to answer this. I use a whole bunch of stuff but my basic approach here is using a line based on chromatics and substitute arpeggios to lead into the chord tones of a target chord. Here I start by using Fmaj7 as a sub for Dm7 and G7 and resolve to one or two chord tones of Cmaj9. This is pretty old school jazz guitar stuff. There’s a fair amount of prior knowledge assumed in most of my vids, and I’m aware that I’m not always super clear. You could always pm me for Skype lessons or book recommendations.

iloverumi oh I do some intervallic modal lines on the minor blues, which is a more modern approach. I think Rick Beato has a video on that.

Plenty of good hollow body type guitars out there. Just name a budget and I’ll be able to suggest something...
