  • In this Studio Update, I place shelving in the largest room and come up with a plan for the other displays! To place the shelving I had to transport the rest from the LEGO room... I also bring a bunch more LEGO! Now I have a huge Ikea shopping list!

    Definitely go with a half height shelf near the thermostat. It looks better when everything is not the same height. Did that with my own displays, really helps break up things from being too uniform.

    When you go to ikea, they have spares drawers near the customer service desks, there are special connectors to connect the Billy’s and pax units together, there are 2 parts, you just drill the hole through.

  • @Smudgie33
    @Smudgie33 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I still think you should move those Billy’s downstairs and use the track shelving above the desks as half of the Billy’s (below the desks) is wasted space. You could save yourself 500 dollars doing that which is not short change. It just feels like you’re spending for the sake of spending and not using the resources that are available. Same with those 2 Pax units in the basement. If you took the time to break them down they could save you another 250 dollars. From experience I know they go back together perfect. Saving 750 dollars is no laughing matter and all it would take is a little time and effort. Also putting the track shelving up into brick is no harder than into plasterboard all you need is some raw plugs.

  • @samwalker8893
    @samwalker8893 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @morningxafter
    @morningxafter 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    15:32 For all my Billy bookcases I just used the Pax connector screws. You have to drill the top and bottom holes (the extra holes where you would attach doors) out just a bit wider, but they work great and look great without needing to cover them up. Ask IKEA’s customer service counter for parts 100402 and 100644 they’ll give them to you for free.

    You don't think much of small cluttery stuff until it comes to moving it. When we moved last year, my focus was on getting books packed away, and then other thing that was important to me and then only after packing that stuff up did I notice all the annoying stuff I didn't care for there and there was a lot of it. I do a lot of art and craft stuff and if you aren't careful with it you can accumulate a lot and I'm not getting any more now until I've used it. Doing a lot of packing and moving, and then looking back and seeing that there is still loads to pack and move is one of the things that makes moving stressful.

    Hi Bricsie
    What a fantastic setups. I have one suggestion. Instead of the dioramas on the big room maybe you can have one big island that conencts with your main city. You can have the big airport at that island and you can build massive bridge (bridge with trains and cars) from main city to your airport (you can use small tabels for some start and finish areas of bridge and at middle its going to be empty space). You can build this empty space with open close mechanism so that you have access to WC and small storage room (So mainly the bridge remains open). Its going to be very hard project (construct and design of the bridge at empty area with mechanism and cable attachments etc) but it can be perfect.

    In the front room, instead of trying to put a billy where the ladder is you. If you’re going to do Star Wars there you should just hang the Darth Vader Lego artwork in that open space next to the door frame that would look really nice.

    6:20 sometimes it´s possible to drill out molly screws like that with a drill bit for steel, depending on the insulation depth (i guess 45 mm). Hit and miss. Pushing them in is a fair enough method imo. Insulation properties marginalized a tiny bit. If paranoia kicks in, canned liquid foam to fill the void.

I also like the plan to not have the wardrobe units right up against the doorway sides... being able to move easily through the doorways is important, especially when moving large sets. And the IKEA price tag is more bearable for you in Alberta than it would be for me in BC, just on a provincial sales tax level. 🙂
