Nice one Heidi. I never really examined these songs before, so I just took it more literally. " I look good on the outside, but feel like sh!t on the inside "
One thing I absolutely love about Soundgarden is their use of odd time signatures. If you don't understand the musical term, at the start of the song count out the beats in the riff - it's 7 not the typical 4 or 8 of just about any other song. They might be the most famous band out there that did that kind of thing (and it's not just this song, it's in a lot of their work). Very unique.

I love your reactions to music that i love. I sense that you also learn a new band's history as you become more familiar with their music. One thing to know about Soundgarden - they were the first of the Seattle / grunge bands to get a major record deal. While Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam were promoting their debut albums, Soundgarden already had 2 full albums and 2 EPs released. "Outshined" is actually off their 3rd album - "Badmotorfinger" - a great album!!! But there are dozens of great Soundgarden songs off their previous recordings that few fans / reactors seem to pay attention to - and i would urge you to check out some of their early songs - some of my favorites are: "GUN, BEYOND THE WHEEL, I AWAKE, and LOUD LOVE." You get a sense from where "grunge" originates.
He had to be the best front man in rock (IMO) when you factor range, power, soul and charisma. He just inhabited the song. Some of their best tracks that you haven't hit are Burden in My Hand, My Wave, Blow Up the Outside World, Spoonman and Slaves and Bulldozers.

Chris suffered from depression. Many songs, if not most by Soundgarden and Audioslave reflect this dark side. Very deep chit when you drill down on the lyrics.
The movie True Romance used up almost their entire music budget because the director wanted this song, which was new and killing it at the time. That's why all the other songs on the soundtrack are older or unknown. That is Eddie Vedder doing backing vocals on the chorus btw. This was when Eddie came to Seattle from California to be the new singer for Mother Love Bone, but they decided to change the name tp Pearl Jam when Eddie joined. Pearl Jam is basically a supergroup of Sound Garden and Mother Love Bone. The Drummer for Soundgarden ended up joining Pearl Jam later on.
You guys should hear him sing Nothing Compares 2 You, a Prince song that was covered brilliantly by Sinead O’Connor also, but he gives you another side of his voice.
Chris Cornell was a diamond in the rough of the city of Seattle. He battled depression for years and eventually took his own life! Money and stardom are not everything folks! R.I.P. CHRIS CORNELL!!

Back in the wayyyy early 90s there was a 3 week period where i got Tool Opiate or Undertow, Alice In Chains Facelift, and Soundgarden Badmotorfinger to add to Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction ( Ritual ) and Rage. All of them within a one year period. I would love to have another year like that musically but the chances of it happening are conservatively about 0.0 percent. Listening to these 2 react takes me back to that year if only for a while. Awesome.
Grunge is so bad ass! Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and so many more. But the top 4 all have such different sounds. Soundgarden and Alice In Chains were the best for sure. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to Chris performing Nothing Compares to you. PLEASE! It’s so beautiful. I cry every time I hear that. You guys are so much fun...different visions, yet in sync...Take it from this old 60 year old lady,...y'all are so good together. Having spent lmy career life in economic development(retired now but still do consulting gigs) I enjoy reactors and you two are banging it!
Yes yes yes! Best singer of all time. His voice is like no other.
These two play well off on another. Brad is mostly cerebral and Lex is all about the feel of the music. Entertaining to watch
You guys should hear him sing Nothing Compares 2 You, a Prince song that was covered brilliantly by Sinead O’Connor also, but he gives you another side of his voice.
Billy Jean !!!
Excellent choice guys. Quite excellent. You won’t hurt my feelings with more Soundgarden.
Chris Cornell was a diamond in the rough of the city of Seattle. He battled depression for years and eventually took his own life! So sad a man that seemingly had everything was down in a hole of depression. Just goes to show, you can have everything family wife, living rockstar life, money and he was still left unfulfilled. Money and stardom are not everything folks! R.I.P. CHRIS CORNELL!!
She smiles and tweaks at the right times. Totally gets it!
That girl is metal through and through. Love it!!!
Lex I just love watching and listening to your reactions to hard rock. I think you rock. Keep it up girl 😘
I remember when this premiered on MTV back in the day and Rickey Rocket was talking about “check out this new band , they have a cool new unique sound”… 👌
chris cornell was like midas. everything he touches turns to gold.
One of the greatest vocalist ever! ♥
What a fantastic voice missing from this world, what a shame!
Awesome.
I took down a lot of bike rivals listening to Soundgarden's Outshined, playing Road Rash 3 on my PS1 in the early 2000s.
Chris's voice is one of the greatest all time. RIP :(
Grunge is so bad ass!
I loved him so much and hearing how much feeling is in that song really gets me. It’s straight up beautiful.
Y'all should hear him do the slow stuff, solo. Like *Nothing Compares To You* and *Patience*
Makes me want to cry. Such an amazing singer. Such a sad ending.
Brad - Did you listen to the lyrics?
Lex - Pffffffft.
me - YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
He can sing literally anything and it will sound like it was meant for him
I died a little after that first pause 😂 great reaction though guys. Y’all’s channel has been my current source of dopamine 🤙🏻
R.I.P. Chris CornellI was really devastated when he died, Sunshower is my favorite song from him, you both would love it.
I lived across a golf course and a cemetery from a friend of mine years ago, and I used to scream this stuff while listening to it at the time when I was walking through at 3am.
Probably caused a few ghost stories. :)
I think you guys would love Dax Riggs voice/music, should check out “Say Goodnight To The World”, “Let Me Be Your Cigarette” or “Didn’t Know Yet What I’d Know When I Was Bleeding”.
Somebody check to see if Brad has a pulse. It's ok to have fun filming a music reaction video!
We all react to and experience music in different ways. At least Brad's reaction is genuine, and when he actually does like a song (like with For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica) you can see it right away without him even needing to say it. He's analytical and that complements Lex's preference to just absorb the music very well.
@@littlesunshiiine I understand. It's just a Lexi is so animated during their reactions! I am not at all saying that I dislike Brad, sometimes it just feels like he's being forced to do it!
Lex knows music, appreciates and understands quality!
If you want heavy Soundgarden, listen to 4th of July. Crunchy is the word. Everything is tuned to Drop Z. I feel like I have to sit down when I listen to it
Look in their videos, they reacted to this on the 4th of July.
This was my first introduction to Chris Cornell/Soundgarden back in college. Love this song.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you both. You crack me up.
