    Great video. Thank you. I have experimented using THREE OPTIONS. Option A. Clean sole with acetone, next apply dye ONLY. Option B. Clean sole with acetone,next apply paint ONLY. Option C. Clean sole with acetone, apply dye, allow to dry then apply paint. ALL are GREAT options and ALL come out awesome. Option C, of course is longer lasting but ALL eventually require touchups. You won't go wrong either way. Keep in mind that dye is FLEXIBLE, while paint IS NOT, as such paint will CRACK.

    Thanks for the video. I am going to try it on the rubber soles of a pair of boots (black top with a cream soul).

    Very good decision. Blacked out looks so much better. I have a pair of Ultra Boost Uncaged in purple and will be doing just this when I get my materials in the mail. The sneakers is so cool but have no idea what the designers were thinking when they opted for the white. I bought my sneakers knowing I was gonna custom black out the sole.

    as the outsole boost will look after 1 month of walking in them! Does this crack all?

    Do you think maybe doing 4-5 coats of dye, and 4-5 coats of paint will help add more durability?

    • @jennizerr
      @jennizerr  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think so, but cracking is inevitable.

    Just found your channel, great videos! And nice chill vibe with the music/voice. How did these hold up to the cracking/chipping that happen to a lot of people? Have you been wearing them a lot?

    • @jennizerr
      @jennizerr  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thank you, andrew! they have cracked, but it's not too noticeable unless you're starting closely at it. the main prob is when the paint comes off from accidentally hitting/kicking something on the ground or your other foot. it's not a permanent solution and def needs to be touched up every so often.

    I'm wondering if waterproof mural paint is better choice, because leather dye on a rubber sole could not possibly work because rubber does not absorb the dye like leather does. I assume the acrylic leather paint does the trick, with on-going touch ups.

    awesome tutorial, do you have any suggestions on how to keep the paint from cracking? like to prevent the white underneath the paint to not show

    • @jennizerr
      @jennizerr  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      unfortunately, there's no way to prevent cracking from happening on the sole. you just need to do touch ups sporadically.

    can you explain why did you apply 2 layers of black leather dye first ? and then 2 layers of black leather paint ?
    i'm wondering if i can just use only the paint ? what does the DYE do ? what is it's function ?
    Thank you so much .

    • @jennizerr
      @jennizerr  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i used 2 layers for more coverage so the paint doesn't rub off easily. i don't think there's one way of blacking out your boost. try doing different things. there's a sharpie oil pen that ppl have been using instead of paint.

      it's the same process. just be careful around the midsole blocks if you're doing it freehand. otherwise, you can use painters tape.
