Ughhh, at 3:20 I messed up. Said the wrong thing. Meant to say: client asks for short but not clean, barber says “what do you mean? Short IS clean.” By that I mean, someone will tell me “I want it short on the sides but like, not lined up” something to that effect, and in those cases a clipper with a two guard will create a very tidy fresh look, where scissors will create a softer (messier) look. Then instead of putting a line up on the edge you just leave it alone, maybe buzz the fuzz next to the edge but leave the edge alone.
Hijacking your precious comment to ask you a question I had a hairdresser who would cut my curly hair using a tool that looked exactly like a barber's folding shaving razor, except it didn't have a straight blade but it was rather "curly" or resembling a saw blade It would yield amazing results, while scissors don't make my hair just as amazing Do you know what was actually happening and how can I ask something similar to my current hairdresser?

This is the first barber/hair stylist who actually understands what I want when I go get a haircut 😭 where can I find someone like him, they're sooo rare
this is the first barber i've seen who actually has some personality. he's not just pointing out the haircuts he's actually telling us the specific request because ik, i go to the barber and i'm not just like give me french crop. i perfectly describe it so that the hairdresser understand and thats how people are. people describe it rather than just naming a haircut, atleast that is what i try to do even tho i'm shy
4:05 "People don't want to look like they tried" That's been my feeling my whole life and people always thought I was weird or lazy but look at me now huh. I was just ahead of the time by 15 years 😂
A fascinating look into hairstyle trends. That being said, I'm not sure how this helps me with the _"watch this if you can't find a hairstyle"_ problem.
6:22 That is so accurate, I just did a self layered long haircut, earlier I had a relly long same length haircut. I'm not even american not do I follow trends, danm this was so on point. Although the self cut is laughbale, but its possible
Oddly enough, the way you described the messy haircut to flow but be clean was how I described it to the barber 2 weeks ago, just discovered your video today so what a coincidence haha!
Popped in for a quick tip with curly hair- when the barber or stylist wets your hair and pulls it tightly in their fingers as they cut it, they’re pulling out the curl and giving you a straight haircuts. Curly haircuts ARE straight haircuts, and except for a few very niche curl specialists, most curly hair is straightened in some manner (even if just pulled straight by hand for the moment it’s cut) before it’s cut. The way geometry and anatomy intermingle to tailor a haircut to the head isn’t exclusive to curls, wave, or straight hair, it’s all the same haircuts- again, except for certain specialty curl experts. In 95% of cases when I do a haircut on a curly client, even if they wear it curly, we straighten the hair at some point to check the cut, because curls can hide imperfections but straight hair shows them.
OMG FR! and everytine i look for curly hair recommendations it's always the big curls i rarely see anything for my hair type since i think most of the "popular ones i see are perms" idk so it's difficult cause i have tighter curls and curlier hair than that so I'm confused on what to do with it lol
Ive had the same problem for years and ive finally found a way to tame it (mostly). Condition your hair when you shower and use a flattening iron not near the roots, but more towards the middle towards the edges (preserves a bit of the volume). after that, the hair might still be a little frizzy or not stick together well, use some pomade to help it stick together. Took me so long to find this out and now my hair looks almost exactly the way I want it every time. Good luck.
i recently went through different variations of a “versatile” haircut with around 2-4 inches on top, a shaved side burn varying between a 1-3 guard, and around 1-2 inches on the back the passed 3 MONTHS until I finally landed one one that i REALLY LIKED today after my last haircut… realized afterwards when i got that i’ve literally just gotten the Jay Jo cut LMAO
I find mullets to have a distinction between the top and the back. If there's no distinction, if it flows naturally from the top to the back then it's more like a Wolf Cut with side fades. With the 6 hairstyles you showed when talking about mullets, I would really only call the bottom 2 mullets.
omg it makes so much sense to me, I have been always wearing messy hair, wanted no shampoo and not sit in the chair too often but I just never been able to put it into words what do I want to my hairdresser. amazing to listen to someone who is an absolute pro, love it.
would absolutely love to see a video about how to get more tan naturally, I know you’ve done a video about that caramel glow but it would also be interesting to learn about how to use the sun for that nice summer tan! Been absolutely loving the content lately, keep up the amazing work and thank you!!
Tanning is your body's defense mechanism to UV trauma - and that only gives you the smallest defense from UVB radiation. The UVA radiation doesn't even care how tan you are, it'll still slice through everyone's skin and rip your DNA in half. The sun doesn't give a fuck. Feel free to tan all you want, but we have a whole generation of 65+ year old boomers right now that look like toasted leather because they oiled up and sat in the sun all day, and pretty much all of them have to get skin cancer sliced off their body every other month. There is not really a way to tan naturally without any risk. Hundreds of thousands of years ago our ancestors would have given anything to get away from the sun. It's so funny to me see people talk now about how it's healing and natural. It's literally a humongous death ball of scorching atomic plasma pummeling our planet with deadly lasers nonstop. You can consume foods high in beta carotene, like carrots or sweet potatoes, and that can tint your skin orange. But science doesn't know a safe way to activate our melanocytes naturally to produce pigment.
For the longest time I can’t find a barber that satisfies me, the main reason is probably I myself don’t even know what I want exactly and what looks good on me. So I just stopped visiting barbershops for a year now. I’d much rather be unsatisfied with my hairstyle while it’s doesn’t cost me time and money, instead of visiting barbershops costing me time and money yet leaving unsatisfied, if that makes sense.
i used to use sea salt sprays when i was in high school/uni, was going for the Angus Stone haircut and thinking back on it, it's still one of my favorite thing to use on longer hair
What gets me as that a lot of fellow guys confuse "trying hard" with "effort". People who you notice got a haircut appreciate you presenting yourself as putting effort into your image. Plus your lying to yourself if you think paying $100 for a cut ISN'T "trying hard", it's flat out contradicting if you want to appear like you don't have time to style your hair while paying a bunch of money to look a very specific way saying "I'm not trying hard".
What’s crazy to hear about this is I came to this natural look because I stopped caring about really styling my hair working during COVID. I stopped using heavy hair products and just started to enjoy letting my hair kind of be. I wanted to embrace my natural waves and texture so I let it grow longer. I’m very happy to see this video because now I want to grow it just a little longer.
One thing I’ve noticed is that hair styles nowadays are more focused on white (or should I say non-black people) and I thought this would help but every picture and example isn’t. Maybe I’m not the audience but I can’t find anyone speaking to me that doesn’t recommend a buzz or a type of braid. On top of that, girls and people in general seem to want flows and messy and my hair just doesn’t do that. What am I to do? I’ve just been buzzing it and dyeing it but people claim it makes me look feminine or gay and that’s of course not what I’m going for.
I think that having dreads on the top of the head with shaved sides looks good when you wear it up. also looks p cool when you have a few locks from the front falling down on one side of the face.
Tips for extremely straight, no volume, fine and soft (almost like silk), male asian hair? At this point all I can see working would be a wave perm (not broccoli). But I would like to avoid damaging chemical or heat related processes.
i got very fine and very very straight hair and no matter what i do it just sits straight and flat on my head and even if i try to style my hair, the wind just messes it up and makes it look like i just combed it forward and left it. Also its like 20 quid for a hair cut so i can only get it cut once every month and a bit. My hair looks good short so after about 2 weeks it just starts looking like shit.
If it insists on laying forward, work with that. Figure out if it looks better swept to the left or right vs which of those it's more inclined to lay, given a little coaxing. Shampoo, condition (optional), and dry with towel. Blow dry on low with gentle heat, guiding it in the direction you determined earlier. Hang your head downward or upside down and blow it from below. It might take a little practice but you'll get a feel for it quickly. You want to sculp it with the blow dryer, which also adds volume and body. Don't blow it bone dry, you want to stop while it's just a tad damp and still flexible, but looks dry as far as the eye can tell. If you get a to dry it can become difficult/impossible to style properly. Keep an eye on it in the mirror as you're going and when you've reached a the shape and volume you're happy with, you want to hit it with some kind of product to lock it in. I like to put a thin layer of mousse on my hand, gently lower my head (pointed down) and gently dab the ends of my hanging hair. This gets you volume and hold. Then I bring my head back up. That results in the style I blow-dried and was happy with being held into place. You can make finer adjustments herei if you please. For most people that's probably not enough to maintain the style throughout the day, so what you do immediately after is hit it with a gentle mist of hairspray. Aussie Instant Freeze is perfect for this. It would be incredible to be able to simply blow dry and spritz with sea salt , but that's not the solution for our hair type. I'm very thankful to an ex who taught me how to do all this years ago, otherwise I'd probably still be rocking something short and tidy and boring, thinking it's the only option. Just as important, find a stylist who listens and understands what you're going for and can help properly shape and maintain it with cuts/trims. Once you get where you want to be, it's pretty low maintenance.
amazing observation about these trends being influenced by economic circumstances because i totally agree. most of these new hairstyle trends don't need a "reset" for about 4-6 months. shows itself in fashion as well with the massive uptick in revenue for the second-hand clothing industry.
Honestly Barbers literally know everything about you just by your hair, i mean i was lazy so i decided to cut my own hair (this was like 2 years after COVID, so cutting your own hair was not a thing anymore), it looked good enough, anyways after i grew it out, it didnt even look like it was cut DIY, but when i went to the barber, he immediately knew i cut it, he was able to tell with what thing i cut it, and was able to tell that i did not wash my hair for a few days, BTW HE EVEN KNEW HOW MANY DAYS I DIDNT WASH IT. Its INSANE
The only thing is I don't want to use products like I hate using products no matter what product it is it makes the texture of my hair look oily even dry shampoo and I'll do the same routine of 2 minutes on the dot and it looks more oily than it did before, i have really long hair and I want to cut it because a lot of people say I don't look good with long hair but I don't look good with short hair either because of my glasses and jaw line so idk what to do
i have found that i do not know the right words to use and often use the wrong words when trying to describe what i want. so it's more of a conversation i have with my barber/stylist. i let her tell me what i want based off pictures and feelings it's a great collaboration and i've been going to her for years.
6 months ago i shaved my head. today, no cuts or trims, 2 shampoos and one single rinse in water later, i apparently have the perfect in trend hair style. i will be eternally grateful for my naturally low maintenance hair because these lived-in looks will always come back.
Great video, seriously. For the next one, could we have more models in full screen so it's easier to screenshot and show our hairdresser what specifically we want?
I find this fascinating, being born in the 90s the return to these looks really tracks with my current taste. But still finding that easy routine to style with my hair these days is hard. I developed combination hair during puberty (curls came in fierce in front) and some days it looks fine and others not. I hate that dry frizz curl look, and I hate that leave in conditioner looks unless I'm at the perfect length for it. It's like I'm constantly trying to rid myself of the curls, but at the same time working with what you have always looks best. Rough I know... Layers on curls simply work different and with two entirely different hair textures I'm really at a loss...
i think the reason why people want their hair to look uncut is because most of the time where the hair is cut too much it makes you look different and messed up so looking uncut is less risky
As a 20 year old, I feel like you just described exactly what I want for my hair. I want long, wavy, middle parted hair that I can wear down all the time. I've been growing it out for a bit over a year now, and it's finally starting to look right.
Im a guy with long (mid back), straight, flat blonde hair, I have had my hair like this for as long as I can remember. I have been wanting to get it cut but so scared of what ill look like with a new hair style and have no idea what to do with it.
Ughhh, at 3:20 I messed up. Said the wrong thing. Meant to say: client asks for short but not clean, barber says “what do you mean? Then instead of putting a line up on the edge you just leave it alone, maybe buzz the fuzz next to the edge but leave the edge alone.

this is the first barber i've seen who actually has some personality. he's not just pointing out the haircuts he's actually telling us the specific request because ik, i go to the barber and i'm not just like give me french crop. i perfectly describe it so that the hairdresser understand and thats how people are. people describe it rather than just naming a haircut, atleast that is what i try to do even tho i'm shy
16:36
its very true. i took one full year to learn that about my hair
this is so true, ive been saying it for months that my hair looks best 2 days after washing it, not before, not after
4:05 "People don't want to look like they tried" That's been my feeling my whole life and people always thought I was weird or lazy but look at me now huh. I was just ahead of the time by 15 years 😂
Best vid I've seen on hair. The layering comments and day 2 after shampoo were enlightening for me. You're an excellent communicator. Great vid thanks
Woaaaaah i actually sat thru a whole 19 min video. And am now up to date with the mens hair style.
I can listen to someone who knows their craft this good for HOURS!
That was more informative than I'd expected. Great video, man.
Perfect video for perfect time, I have been looking for something like this.
0:50 lawyers. A fellow man of culture
He defecated through a sunroof
My hair is thick dry frizzy and curly and all i see everywhere is hairstyles for straight soft and wavy hairs and im so tired idk what to do
OMG FR! and everytine i look for curly hair recommendations it's always the big curls i rarely see anything for my hair type since i think most of the "popular ones i see are perms" idk so it's difficult cause i have tighter curls and curlier hair than that so I'm confused on what to do with it lol
look up curly girl method, it will probably save your hair
Just pkease be wary of skin cancer.
Wear sunscreen and take a 30 min walk in California everyday that’s it I got so dark walking from school 😂😂😂
Genuinely the first video I’ve seen like this that was actually helpful
its crazy how accurate he was, the whole video I was just nodding my had yes to everything he said lmao
I could listen to Andrew all day
NO stop that thats gay no weird things please
the fact that your mind went there first proves that you are more of the things you said that of commenter @@germanfernandez6180
This was the video I was looking for. Also this dude is so engaging like damn I watched without blinking lol
“People are a lot less afraid of their natural texture”
*also roasted tf out of the side part*
i used to use sea salt sprays when i was in high school/uni, was going for the Angus Stone haircut and thinking back on it, it's still one of my favorite thing to use on longer hair
This is the kind of video to watch two or three times to naturally know what you want everytime you get a haircut from now on
38 & you nailed exactly what I'm aiming for with layered. Sam Winchester is my goal 😂
i got very fine and very very straight hair and no matter what i do it just sits straight and flat on my head and even if i try to style my hair, the wind just messes it up and makes it look like i just combed it forward and left it. Also its like 20 quid for a hair cut so i can only get it cut once every month and a bit. My hair looks good short so after about 2 weeks it just starts looking like shit.
Dude same
If it insists on laying forward, work with that.
This guy is amazingly knowledgable and he communicates really well
I was like, I want something original, and I was about to go for literally all of the cuts this dude mentioned.
this is some crazy shit
amazing observation about these trends being influenced by economic circumstances because i totally agree.
most of these new hairstyle trends don't need a "reset" for about 4-6 months.
shows itself in fashion as well with the massive uptick in revenue for the second-hand clothing industry.
Its INSANE
Extremely interesting and cool that he's thought so much about these styles and takes note of what he sees.
Been waiting for this video since so long.Got fed up and finally got a haircut literally hours before this video dropped.
The only thing is I don't want to use products like I hate using products no matter what product it is it makes the texture of my hair look oily even dry shampoo and I'll do the same routine of 2 minutes on the dot and it looks more oily than it did before, i have really long hair and I want to cut it because a lot of people say I don't look good with long hair but I don't look good with short hair either because of my glasses and jaw line so idk what to do
I’m just scared to get a haircut. This video was so accurate!
I’m a woman with natural curls, and this is my preferred haircut. Mullet, dirty, layers. Looks amazing.
Preferred for myself. Not actually dirty - just looks bed head, if anyone remembers that product.
Step one: win the genetic lottery.
if not, just dont be an asshole
Accurate 😕
No, u could also lose the genetic lottery but there is still a good way to maintain your hair
With make up and beauty products nowadays everyone can be handsome and beautiful don't compare yourself to others be humble always
Tell me ur ugly without telling me ur ugly😂
I am 18 and still like to go for the 40's 50's hairstyle with lines and clean looks
as a black male. I find this relatable.
😂😂😂
💀
Thank you
Welcome to the club brother.
i have found that i do not know the right words to use and often use the wrong words when trying to describe what i want. so it's more of a conversation i have with my barber/stylist. i let her tell me what i want based off pictures and feelings it's a great collaboration and i've been going to her for years.
Speak your truth king!
This guy was great, info and experience and presentation
😂😂😂 The patchy beard part is too funny!!
Solid video. Captures my attention the entire time
Hey @OnPointFresh, can you make a video on how to protect the hair from damage done by products? or something along the lines.
Your production is so good that I thought the intro of the video was a professional advertisement 😂
The timing of this video is suspicious
Same, the government is watching
Dope video supporting from Greece!
-Alexander S.
just starting to grew my hair after a buzz... crazy timing.
My hairline is currently neck and neck in a race against the US economy. Which one is receeding faster?
Wow, you're the most well spoken hair stylist I've come across! 20 minutes just flew by.
i think the reason why people want their hair to look uncut is because most of the time where the hair is cut too much it makes you look different and messed up so looking uncut is less risky
This guy has me addicted to continue watching
why lawyer is Saul so hilarious to me
As a 20 year old, I feel like you just described exactly what I want for my hair. I want long, wavy, middle parted hair that I can wear down all the time. I've been growing it out for a bit over a year now, and it's finally starting to look right.
Just wondering if a wide face not fat works with taper fade or flow, btw luv your videos❤
i havent watched your vids in over a year.. so much higher quality now!
🔥🔥best TH-camr ever
dang, I just got on the side part haircut, not realizing the look has been out of style, story of my life.
A guy walk into his barber shop and bro be sayin "Say no more, sit down"
Im a guy with long (mid back), straight, flat blonde hair, I have had my hair like this for as long as I can remember. I have been wanting to get it cut but so scared of what ill look like with a new hair style and have no idea what to do with it.
I shouldve watched this before getting all fucked up at the barber shop lool
Super good video man, respect. It’s nice when someone is a professional you can tell you know your stuff and have a passion. I Subscribed bro
