How to paint adidas boost soles with iDye Poly Jacquard (this is how it really works)

- A lot of tutorials about painting the "boost" are online and i got really a lot questions about it ech day like:
i used angelus and it cracks
i did it like they show it with angelus but i cracks
i used angelus leather dye and acrylics and it cracks
what do you use and how do you paint boost soles
and many many more
So, thats the reason why i did this little step by step tutorial to show you guys how i paint the boost. i am no professional video artist so please excuse the video editing :)
What you need:
iDye Poly from Jacquardproducts
www.patchworksh...
2 Containers (1 for hot water, 1 for mixing the iDye Poly) i used 68ml hot water in an empty Neoppaque or Lumiere container
*** 68ml (1 Neoppaque or Lumiere Container) is very intense color. if you need to get lighter color, just thin it with some more water. you dont need to thin it with aceton or angelus preparer deglazer. thats nonsens ;)
The shown sneaker will be all black versions soon, so i did not tape them. If you only want to paint the midsole i recommend to tape the parts you dont want to paint.

So using the acetone to lift of the excess takes away the shine and purple hue, great news was wondering how to stop that ... Wont adding the paint to the midsole still make it crack as its part of the shoe thats constantly moving though?
using aceton only to remove the shine. neopaque on top will protect the midsole. you have to use thick coats because they give a lot of flexibility. the varnish as top coat will protect the full repaint. so i use this on a lot of boost customs and got no issues.

and where do i buy this varnish? i only bought the idye poly because in the beginning of video it said you only need water, jars, and idye. now the idye comes off a little whenever water touches it
Will this work on the mid-sole of flyknit racers? If I wanted to paint to flyknit material all black whats the best product to use? Thanks in advance
yes this will work also on flyknit racers midsoles. if you want to paint the racer all black its possible to dip the upper with the iDye Poly completly. its made for synthetics ;)
Thanks man! I have ordered the items in the video. Couldn't find matte additive in the UK but I am hoping the effect won't be too shiny. I might try the angelus matte finisher if needs be.
Did you do this? I just ordered yesterday and again couldn't find the additive or varnish?? Where did you get the varnish from. I'm painting the soles of my olives and fire roosters. Thanks
So I did this last week and it came out great!!. The sole was dyed black with idye poly. Acetone took off the shine and blueish hue. I then painted 3 layers on the midsole with jacquard neopaque black. I couldn't find the matte additive so bought angelus matte finisher instead. It actually comes out quite shiny so I only used it on the upper midsole and kept the matte (paint only) effect on the lower midsole. Thanks again +Sneakersnbonsai Customkicks
wo bekommt man denn den Jacquard Matte Additive zu kaufen, ich kann ihn einfach online nicht finden!
derzeit leider nicht in D. wird sich aber bald ändern. bis dahin kannst Du aber jeden anderen Mattierer auch verwenden.
was wäre denn eine Alternative? :-)
Kannst du einen guten Mattierer empfehlen den es in DE zu kaufen gibt? Kenne mich in dem Bereich leider nicht aus.....
kann ich auch ein anderes Färbemittel (bspw. von DM oder Rossmann) verwenden oder würdest du das nicht empfehlen?

neopaque für den upper? Und hält die farbe an der outsole?
iDye Poly hält auch an der outsole.
Hast du ein Tipp wie ich das Primeknit fixen kann bei mir gibt es da am fordern zeh Fäden die rausgucken und die Schicht dort ist schon sehr dünn.

Brauch man nur eine Schicht der eigentlichen Farbe? Und was brauch man außer der Farbe?
Und wie bekomme ich den Airbrush finisher aufgetragen ? Habe keinen airbrusher zuhause
mit nem Pinsel geht auch.
Kann ich das iDye auch für den upper verwenden?
Ist machbar aber würde ich nicht empfehlen, da evtl. beim tragen das Upper färbt. Kannst aber gern mal berichten wenn du es machst ;)
