How Timbaland Revolutionized R&B + Hip-Hop and then Reinvented Himself After Addiction | Blueprint

  • A master of rhythm and melody, Timbaland always knew he had a gift when it came to music. He'd put it to good use in producing a number of groundbreaking works for the likes of Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake. But with fame came delusion and addiction, which trumped his extreme talent. Now, sober and revitalized, Timb has fallen in love with the art form again and set his sights on a new goal: create a classic that will mark the next chapter in his career, just as Quincy Jones did with Thriller.

Shows good spontaneity to listen to their answers, formulate a follow up question in your head and make sure that question is well worded and will be provocative enough to really get an in depth and informative answer too. I know exactly what hes talking about when he said god just said "no more" during his addiction. Being an ex heroin addict of 4 years it happened to me. One day god hit me with a feeling and i was like enough is enough and i got some suboxone and detoxed myself and never looked back, that was 5 years ago. Everyone alway says heroin is one of the hardest drug to come off of and it is but, from my experience quitting is the easy battle, staying off of it is the war. If you can stay strong and make it thru the first year, the hard part is over. You will come out the other side noticeably stronger and confident that there aint no obstacle you cant get over and the stresses of life and the thoughts of "how am i gonna get thru this" decline drastically. One good thing that came out of my addiction is that i am stronger and my confidence is higher. I no longer worry about things because "I KNOW" ill be victorious in battle.

This production is INVALUABLE! If I'd had THIS when I was younger, some things would have seemed like a waste of time (i.e. college or my major in college). I'm 50 years old and after working for others most of my adult life, I'm embarking on a web/data analytics consulting firm to help creative individuals reach their dreams and corporate/government entities reach their goals. The questions that Noah asks go straight to the epicenter of success and failures of these guests without compromising their relationships! I save these episodes and have discussion groups with young people who are searching for their passion and purpose in life! THANKS Complex and Noah!!

So humble and didn’t force any of his production techniques on any of the artists he worked with and I appreciate that and bow down to his take on creativity. SO INSPIRING TO ME. His energy is good energy and that’s why he succeeded with these artists. GREAT INTERVIEW

2:02 signature Timbaland snare PS: I have to admit, the melody part as he said was heavily influenced by Missy Elliott and Static Major. All three together were untouchable when it comes to music. I still love Timbaland's production but can't help to admit that ever since they stopped directly working together, Tim's beats remained solid, but the melody part of his production did take a backseat
