      Being a Producer is some one that directs and oversees the vision of the record durning recording sessions, coach the artist, give feed back, vocal arrangements. They have nothing to do with making beats. They are the visionary of the entire record being made from start to finish. Beatmakers are the same thing as Songwriters and Composers as its part of the songwriting pre-production process. They are generally credited as Writer, Composer, Instrumentation, Keyboards or Drum Programming in production credits while real producers are credited as Producer like Quincy Jones. I started out as a beatmaker in 2004 before i became a record producer in 2008 working with my first artist in the studio one on one. Making beats doesn't make you a producer. Scott Storch is both a Songwriter and a Record Producer as he does more than just make beats. When you look at Scott Storch credits, you will notice hes credited twice for both roles as Writer and Producer. Thats why Beat makers get publishing royalites because they are Songwriters of tracks. Publishing companies reffer to them as "Track Writer's" and the Lyricist reffered to as a "Top-Liner" that writes the lyrics on top of the pre-made beat. Thats what you call 50/50 Songwriting which is industry standard.

      @eternalrewind2190 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eman 08 producer means a lot of things.. if you make the beat and record the vocals arrange everything then you are credited as a producer.. I make beats and work with artist as well

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Eternal rewind2. No I'm a "real" Producer as I don't make beats all the time. Before I became a beatmaker in 2004, I was an active keyboard player since 1998. Many times, I'm coaching an artist, coordinating vocal and song arrangements with no beat-making involvement what so ever as I wear many different hats depending on my roles. I give feed back to suggest what to add in and what to take out that's what a Producer does. Producers are more like a managing role in the studio. They are like Film Directors. Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins has said this very same thing. People that record, track, mix and edit, are credited as Engineer. That's why when you look at Scott Storch's credits, you will see him credited "two" times for a lot of songs as both "Writer" and "Producer" I just don't know how I could break this down ever more simpler to you. Scott Storch was credited as Writer for Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River. Timbaland was also credited as writer for the beat and Justin credited as writer for lyrics. Timbaland was credited again as Producer for directing and coordinating the session. String section arrangement for "Cry Me A River" was conducted by Larry Gold with The Southwest Chamber Orchestra. Song was recorded and mixed by Jimmy Douglas in Timbaland's studio. People often mistaken Scott Storch making beats as being a Producer when really that's a Songwriter/Composers job. When hes not making beats, hes wearing the Producers hat working in the studio with his clients. If people want to know who made the beat to any song, they should be looking at Writers/Composer credits not Producer. Beatmakers are credited along with lyrical songwriters that write the lyrics. I'm a registered ASCAP member as we are registered as Songwriters and Composers. There is no category for Producer for ASCAP because Producers are management roles in the studio. I'm wearing many hats as I'm a Songwriter/Producer, some times an Audio Engineer and Session musician. Been doing this stuff for nearly two decades.

      For beating making, the term "Producer" is misused. People often mistaken Scott Storch as making beats as being a Producer when really that's a Songwriter/Composers job. When hes not making beats, hes wearing the "Producers" hat working in the studio with his clients just like Quincy Jones. Being a Producer has nothing to do with making beats or playing keyboards. Producer is some one that directs and oversees recording sessions, coach the artist, give feed back, vocal arrangements. Scott Storch, Dr, Dre, Timbaland, J.R Rotem, Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell Williams are both Songwriters and a Record Producers as they do more than just make beats. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as beatmakers before they took over the acting role as a Record Producer. When you look at Scott Storch credits, you will notice hes credited twice for both roles as Writer and Producer depending on his roles and songs that he does. If people want to know who made the beat to any song, they should be looking at Writers/Composer credits not Producer. Beatmakers are credited along with lyrical songwriters that write the lyrics.

      Producers have nothing to do with playing keyboards and making beats. Scott Storch is both a Songwriter and a Record Producer. There's a difference between a beatmaker and a Record Producer. Beatmakers are the same thing as Songwriters and Composers as those people are generally credited as Writer, Composer, Programmer and Instrumentation in production credits. Producers are credited as Producers. The Role of a Producer is to direct and oversee recording sessions, providing guidance, coaching the artist. feedback, arrangement. They are the visionary of the whole recorded form start to finish. Scott Storch is generally credited twice for both roles when you look at his production credits. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as beatmakers before they took over the acting role as a Producer. Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, J.R Rotem, Dr. Dre, Rodney Jerkins, Bryan Michael-Cox are all Songwriter/Producers as they don't just sit on there ass all day and make beats. So when Scott is making beats, hes wearing the Songwriters hat. When hes not making beats, hes wearing the Producers hat working in the studio directly with his clients directing. Making beats is part of the Songwriting Pre-Production process. P-Diddy, Misty Elliott, Mary J. Blige or Chris Lord-Alge are Producers and they don't make beats. Misty Elliott produced Mya - My Love Is Like... Wo, wrote the lyrics and did background vocals. Charles Bereal and Kenneth Bereal made the beat and Dave Pensado mixed the song.

      Eman 08 Understood, but all I'm saying is that he his probably one of the only major hip hop producers I've seen that you can leave in the studio alone, and produce a complete track from top to bottom by himself. Dre,Timbaland and all of those guys don't have the complete talent to do that.

      Scott is not the only beatmaker that plays keyboards. Pharrell Williams, J.R Rotem, Rodney Jerkins, Bryan Michael-Cox, Jamie Foxx, Brian McKnight all play keyboards. Many of them were classically trained pianist with Jazz and gospel roots. Rodney Jerkins father is a Pastor a family that grew up in the church. Rodney took classical piano lessons at a young age, and then begin composing beats locked in his room for hours. I remembered in one of his interviews that he use to sneak, R&B records in the house since being in a Christian home his parents didn't allow that. How, ever his father supported him that one day he will become big. Rodney explained he used a lot of dark minor chords in his music, which is how he gotten his stage name "Darkchild". J.R Rotem was also classically trained that started out in classical piano. His original plan was go to school for film scoring but he ended up study Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music as a Jazz Pianist. He then found interested in Hip Hop, and started making beats after school and many times spend 10-12 hours a day composing hundreds of beats. J.R Rotem in fact worked with Dr. Dre and Scott in the beginning of his career in the Bay Area for a little while but the chemistry just wasn't there as Dr. Dre didn't need another keyboard player when Scott was already there. As J.R Rotem continued on shopping beat CD's around, he gotten his first break through landing his first major placement on the Destiny Child Survivor Album in 2001 for the song "Fancy" in the hands of. D'wayne Wiggins. D'Wayne Wiggins at the time was developing Destiny Child that used J.R Rotem's beat for the "fancy" song. J.R Rotem was later credited as "Composer" for the song. As J.R Rotem went on to start placing more beats, he later became a Producer signing his own artist to his own record label BelugaHeights. Bryan Michael-Cox also has a church background with both Jazz and Gospel roots that was classically trained. Hes known as the Brainchild of R&B. His paino playing is def up there with Jamie Foxx and Brian McKnight as they all have very similar style and piano backgrounds. Robert Glasper is also another major Jazz Pianist, Composer and Producer. He did the song Brandy- What Are We Doing. I believe Ted Riley plays keys too. Most of the young cats these days don't play a lick of keys as its a damn shame that talent is fading away.

    Goddamn this vid hit me... From someone who's hit rock bottom and brought themselves back up again, I felt it 100%. Storch made, and helped make, fire tracks that I listened to throughout my life and to know that he struggled with the same addictions and influences as me, and found his way out and is still making his mark on the world... it should give us all hope. No matter how low life takes you, and how many people turn their back on you, you can still keep going and bring your light to this world. I wish I could meet my man Scott and just give him a hug and be like "We got this, man." Much love.
