This dudes snare technique is the best I have ever seen, gotta start working on the moeller method right away!!!!!!! You killed it dude, absolutely slaughtered this song. I think it’s better than on the record.
Dude! You jumped on a big one! I struggle with relentless hat/snare pattern on the front of this song, regardless of it being all single strokes. 16th notes at over 150 bpm is a younger mans game, but thanks for making it look easy!
It definitely took a lot of work building my chops up for this song! The kick drum technique is no joke too. Looking forward to sharing some techniques that helped me out with you guys soon.
I agree too, the only way to learn that sounds is to be able to jog 10 miles a day to build up your stamina!! Wow, what a great, fantastic kick ass cover, one of the best I've seen!
This should be the example of a perfect drum cover. You made this your own unique cover, without losing the song or original drums along the way. And you made it look absolutely effortless. Bravo, this is absolutely outstanding,
probably the best i've heard... a lot of guys struggle with the hihat, but you got the wrist technique working for you, without missing any punch on breaks and beat... just awesome
It's always the same advice: Start slow, focus on staying relaxed and playing with precision (if you can't slow it down further), stay at that tempo until you feel totally comfortable, then very gradually move the tempo up and repeat the process until you have reached your desired tempo. There's no magic pill, it just requires dedication and patience. In general, I think practicing the book "Stick Control" is a great way to build technique, power, precision, control, and endurance.
Been working on this song for years now and I'm still stuck with developing the groove. Here's what I learned so far: •Play from the wrist, not the elbows. The only time you use your elbow is when your hand goes from the hat to the snare and back. •When playing, focus more on lining up the bass and snare. The handwork would be nothing without having a precise bass-snare foundation. •Rimshots. Don't forget about them. •Work on your subdivisions through a metronome. Start slow and gradually go fast.
Kuddos Jeff! This cover is all that! It's crazy that Taylor Hawkins can pull this song off night after night as the encore song, after playing for 2.5 hours straight. Just friggin' nuts!
That was outstanding.. it helps so much to see it .. just back into the drums and this just makes me wanna go downstairs and play.. I’m not here yet but it’s nice knowing what I’m after.. thank you
You can absolutely tell the songwriter is a shredding rock drummer, yet somehow it’s not too much. Like all those wonderful details he put into Nirvana tunes that you can’t imagine the song without. His own songs are like those moments, but for almost an entire tune. Foo Fighters are the most epic rock drum music of all time. So much respect to those buddies, and i’m sorry for his loss. (Again.)
Great performance. Great song choice and production quality is high along with the mix. I love the editing of just going right into the song. I like the camera placement as well. From the perspective of a drummer it’s nice to be able to see what hand technique is being used.
What a beautiful song, the intensity. Yours drums was amazing as well, but i'm struck with how well figured out these whole composition is, it just has it perfect✨
best part about ur channel is... u play exactly the same... no poser's fill (overly annoying) and you teach some good and benificial techniques so people can improvise anf be creative... the kind of channel I've been looking for years... KUDOS
One of these videos where you think: damn, i have to go back to my drumset and work on my mojo! Loved the fills in the chorus. Thanks for the great video !!
Dude, you killed it! I love playing this song and it’s always a bruiser. Those little variations you added in the snare fills during the chorus are super tasty!
This clean playing and massive kit sound is pure gold. Last time I've heard something similar to this was on Fu Manchu's Action Is Go (which is one of my all time favourite album). Also: I'm pretty sure you won't be doubting your career choice any time soon, but still, keep up this stuff you're doin'. :33

One of the hardest alternative rock song to cover - endurance wise. For those who ever tried to play it. More than amazing job you've done there Jeff!
Thanks bud!
I suck at drums, but I used to try to play it a few times for cardio!
Monkey Wrench is the ultimate workout.
This song was very hard in Rockband
oh i’ve tried and it’s hard indeed
This dudes snare technique is the best I have ever seen, gotta start working on the moeller method right away!!!!!!! You killed it dude, absolutely slaughtered this song. I think it’s better than on the record.
Thanks Brian! Yeah man, the Moeller technique is such a useful tool to have in your arsenal. I gotta make a lesson on it at some point!
It's SO satisfying to see you play fills you've taught us before in actual songs. 🔥
Yes! So glad you noticed. I really only have a few different kinds of fills that I gravitate towards and they're all super versatile.
the shirt makes it more intense
Haha, gotta have that fan on in there! It gets so stinkin’ hot.
Best comment.

Lol, look up Kevin Paradis - he can hold 16th notes at 300bpm for 10mins straight
Imagine a Foo Fighters gig: Dave Grohl asks the audience if there are drummers who want to play drums for Everlong and Jeff shows up.
that would be epic! hahah :D
I agree haha, that would be epic!
I agree too, the only way to learn that sounds is to be able to jog 10 miles a day to build up your stamina!! Wow, what a great, fantastic kick ass cover, one of the best I've seen!
That would be fire
The trick to this is building up your wrist speed. If you try to play it any other way you are in for stamina he'll. 😂
The dark, desperate energy of this song is what it's all about and you captured it perfectly. Kudos.
Something hypnotizing about how this is played in combination with the framerate. Absolute killer performance!
This might actually be the cleanest cover I’ve ever seen, insane!
This should be the example of a perfect drum cover. You made this your own unique cover, without losing the song or original drums along the way. And you made it look absolutely effortless. Bravo, this is absolutely outstanding,
You played all the fills SO smooth, bonus points for the beastly snare sounds, killer cover
I love this interpretation of this song. Dave always puts so much raw emotion into his drumming. And this is a true fan of that emotion.
probably the best i've heard... a lot of guys struggle with the hihat, but you got the wrist technique working for you, without missing any punch on breaks and beat... just awesome
This is by far my favourite drum cover of this amazing song. Really great drumming.
AMAZING cover of an absolute classic!! Holy crap, your drums sound so good, especially that kick drum, what a tone coming out of that!!
Damn, that hihat though, how’d you get your endurance like that? I can feel my forearms burning just by watching.

I played this song on rock band back in the day. Not the same but same endurance. I now can play this song with ease on my kit
Three words: Don't tense up.
Learn to use your fingers instead of your arms and wrists, push pull technique. Matt mcguire has a great video on it.

One of the best covers of this song I’ve ever seen. Great job!
Love the way you gently move. You got a good technique. And you got good groove
Thanks!
This really highlights how busy the drums in this song are, great cover!

Very creative to throw that Steppin Wolf fill/solo in there.
You noticed! That’s a go-to fill style of mine for sure. It works in so many situations.
How you play this song is memorizing. Fantastic.
Man! Your sound, your control, your chops...Just amazing!!!
Great performance. Great song choice and production quality is high along with the mix. I love the editing of just going right into the song. I like the camera placement as well. From the perspective of a drummer it’s nice to be able to see what hand technique is being used.

Fun song to play. Such a groove.

See I prefer this cover over others because Jeff puts his own feel onto it which most drums don’t do
Hardest song I've tried to learn. Excellent!
