2010 Special Edition had revised suspension, and decontented for lighter weight (4 speaker stereo, manual climate control, no heated seats or sunroof, etc). It got the JDM Spec C wheels and suspension. The slightly cheaper price was offset by dealer mark ups. A limited number were produced. This is the best STi to buy - if you can even find one. (good luck!)
sedan or hatch? i like the sedans, especially (albeit i'm not sure exactly what this 2010 special edition looks like) the 2011-14 face lift. edit: currently half way through the video and my dumbass sees what the SE looks like.
In Australia the 2005 blob eye is the most sought after STi. The last to be manufactured with the 2.0L EJ207 engine with forged pistons and also had DCCD. Can go up to 450HP on stock internals, and run 10s quarter miles. EJ207s are higher revving engines too with 8000rpm redline.
A few inaccuracies here, particularly pertaining to the chassis codes. 04 STI was a GD chassis, not a GC. 02-03 wrx, along with the 04-07 wrx and STI are all GD chassis cars.
+Dee Heych what country are you in? I️m willing to bet that’s where the discrepancy is. Here in the states, the first model year of the gd chassis did not start until 2002 with the bug eye model 2.5rs and wrx. 2001 we did not have a wrx in the states, and our 2.5rs Impreza was still the previous chassis.
Im speaking about Impreza internationally. I am from the US, my Subarus are USDM. The chassis code for all US WRX and STI's until the end of 2007 was a GD. On the forums, we call them Body code/year, written like this "GD05" = 2005 Impreza, to be specific. WRX/TR/RA/STi are all Trim levels to the Impreza chassis. Trim level is not relevant when discussing the actually chassis codes. I understand you think my confusion is from 2001 when North America was still selling old stock GC's. Subaru could not import any more vehicles until current stock was sold, they made decision to extend GC sales/delay importation or GD's one year. It only happened in North America, whilst the rest of the world enjoyed GD's in 2001. With all that being said, I think its only fair to analyze such events internationally, or atleast the home market for the product, its just more accurate. Ive owned Subarus for 15 years, Ive had them in Super Street/DSport/Import Tuner. WFC#52
"The 2015 is the best looking since the hawkeye" meaning the stinkeye is the ugliest lol. IMO, my 2013 Limited Sedan with the facelifted wide body in WRB looks awesome.
You have a rare beast mate! I'm trying to track down a blue 12 sti hatch that used to belong to another youtuber for them to buy back, very hard to find
I’m the proud owner of a Silver 2014 STi sedan. I absolutely love the look of the 2010-2014 STi sedans and the 2008-2014 Hatchbacks. Most aggressive and interesting looking generation, IMO.
My favorite Subaru is the SUBARU WRX IMPREZA STI HATCHBACK 2008 cuz I remember playing nfs hot pursuit mobile when was a kid and also love the cars design
I have an 04 with the blob eye look, I personally love the 04’s the most, but I also enjoy the light weight smaller style compared to the heavy bolkey ones like the newer sti
I love my 2020 STI Base w/Recaro pkg! I came from a 2017 WRX Premium both have been WRB! With the 2018 RA STI Subaru's finally helped tweak and upgrade the iconic EJ's pistons, tune and 3rd gear!
Are you joking? 04-05 had the best transmission it had the 65:35 powersplit, the blobeyes did not understeer like the 2006+ STI. Look at timeattack and actual race cars version 8 STI is the favored swap because of this. 2005 specifically is the best year as it had the 65:35 power split, updated interior and 5x114.
@@tl4581 The 06 has a longer 3rd gear, which is better for drag, and a little better for offroad too. Subaru Technica International differed the design of the trans so it would be better on rally tracks. The 06 is .2 seconds faster in a1/4 mile because of this
So much wrong info 1. GC, GF, and GM was the first generation Impreza 1993-2001, GD and GG was the second generation 2000-2007 2. It’s blobeye not peanut eye 3. I’ve been to a lot of car meets and talked with other Subaru owners and not once have I heard anyone say the 04 was the OG 4. It came standard with a radio but as an option you could pay extra for it to be deleted 5. Every USDM STI came with DCCD 6. 4:23 that’s a picture of a WRX engine
Next time you should consult with someone from the Subaru community to fact check your points. Many points were wrong. Fact check with people before making future videos so it seems like you know what you’re talking about.
I searched for and bought an 05 STI back in 2010. I still own it to this day. its my nice day car. yes the stock suspension Isn't as good as the 06 but with seibon helping with the wider front fenders. I think it is the most Aggresive looking STI. I of course upgraded th suspension with coilovers and numerous other suspension items. I have 1 video posted that shows the amazing handling and sound of this machine versus other subaru's and exotic cars. Great video by the way. i like all your content and insight. keep up the good work.
1. The Wrx is the best overall option, as it's more comfortable. 11. 5:57 it's not really as iconic to Sti. blue and gold actually goes back to the liberty (or legacy as you yanks call it). @@King_Pin_Designs well actually no. I don't know if it's different around the world but in Australia they started in 05. And the blob started in 03. And the bug in 01.
GC8 STi wagon body (easy to work on rear suspension) with Mitsubishi yaw control transplanted with Adjustable DCC diff control. 2.5 liter for displacement with dual scroll turbo. I could go on 😁 and yes all this existed in the JDM market in 1999 till 2003. If you could read Japanese you could order from catalog back then!
I agree the Hawkeye is the best looking. The Limited is pretty styling. I have a 2008 Outback Sport and I've always liked that style. It's probably the most feminine, probably the flimsiest, but I like the way it looks.
The 2006 was best for suspension but the 2007 was best for tuning because it had a upgraded ECU make it hold more memory for tuning. It made tuning for aftermarket fuel pumps way easier
Bought a 2020 STI in june 2021 but got rid of very reluctantly this past March due to inflation and loss of military career for not taking the c19 shot. I will be getting another one once i reset myself. Best car ive ever owned wouldnt want any other!
Owned a MY04 WRB Blobeye STi (or peanut eye as some call it) with silver BBS rims. Sadly sold it but now own a MY05 PSM WRX Wagon. Obviously I'm voting for the Blobeye :)
I own a 02 WRX with a JDM STI swap so I’m 100% biased but the bugeye is hands down the best looking Impreza. You didn’t give it an honorable mention like you did the 22B... I’m so disappointed with how this video turned out 😕
05 blobeye owner here. My favorite are the first 3 in order. Gc8, bugeye,, blobeye The only difference I know of between 04 and 05, is the cup holder area.
04 is GD chassis not GC. GD started in 2001 and went to 2007 no matter where youre from. Also that black leather interior youre looking at in the Hawkeye was from a limited. they got rid of the blue and did all leather but that is a rare option to find nowadays so you will mainly find them with the blue interior but they do have minor differences over the 2004 sit.
You guys had me till you Said the 15+ was best looking... so you actually like the look of the evo more then a subaru as the 15+ is a evo front end and even sitting in one you will find they have the same feel as a evo. But i Will agree the 06/07 is one beautiful car I own a 11 07 04 and i always find myself back in the 04 more then any of them .
Dont worry let a few years go by, there's still new so people have to grow love for it. I have a 2017 sti and i think it's a really nice car. But if i could choose I'd have a 11-14 sti sedan or 98-00 jdm sti.
I won't even wave to a 2015+ subi unless it is modded. Then I know its a car guy. Most of the newer 2015+ wrx/sti's that I see are driven by older people that get it because it is a modern looking car with modern upgrades. It has hill assist and the clutch is a feather compared to older models. I have a 04 wrx with 265K miles on it, still running strong. took my dad out for a drive and he ended up buying a 15 wrx. I think it looks like a hybrid camery/evo. It drives nice, rev hang is f*cking terrible, and looks like shit. Going back to "older people" buying that year, my dad is the perfect example. it is a "cheap" way to go fast and I feel like most people that buy these newer ones aren't into/aware of the subi cult and they never wave back, so I just stopped trying.
@@jakefelty89 i think they're the minority, idk about wrx's but im sure that no one buys a new Sti without knowing what they're getting into. Also you don't have a choice but to buy whatever is out at the moment when getting a new car. If it was up to me I'd have subaru make me a brand new 00 sti but obviously that's not possible. Lastly, the first thing i did to my car when i got it was to disable the hill assist.
Jake Feltenberger I agree. I am an old dude right now, and do like a mix of sporty and comfort. Subaru did intentionally make the new models this way because majority of the people like their cars this way also (maximum sales). I know car enthusiasts dont like this, and I understand it sucks. I mean, all other car manufacturers make their car faster each year, and here we have the wrx/sti getting slower every time a new model comes out. But hey, sales is needed for any company to survive. That rev hang though, I do hate it with a passion. However, you will hate me for saying this, but I do appreciate the sporty, yet luxurious feel of the newer models. Chicks love to be in my car
Best Sti in terms of engine byyyy farrrrr is any 2.0L sti, The 2001-2002 sti bugeye more specifically. It came with the EJ207 Version 7, factory forged pistons. Here in Australia good 207's push out 350kw with ease stock unopened engine.
Ideal Cars I love it and it is so fun to drive, my favorite car yet, done around 95000 KM so far, and I am hoping to get the next generation that is if they don't screw it up, I live in a place where STIs are rare so it get lots of attention. But it's not for everyone, the ride is hard and rough, in hot weather it looses power due to hot air, had the power steering leaking twice which apparently is a manufacturing defect, and I burnt the clutch once though it was my fault cause I did "few" launches. I have an Invidia Q300, cold air intake and a tune only cause it is my daily.
Newest sti side profile looks like an 07 civic sedan 🤣. No offence but I think it is the ugliest sti in history that literally has an identity crisis in terms of looks.
Keiron Peach any issues you have experienced bro? Been doing mine because my Honda’s tranny is going out and will stop dailying my hawkeye sti after I fix it? Also do you notice funny noises on cold starts sometimes? Feed back would be much appreciated.
The best to me was the Gc8 classic after that they just never looked as hard anymore. Gc8 was light and and fast especially the ones with the Vf22 turbo. That turbo when it hits it hits hard. Up till hawk eye they still look ok from the front only but after that it’s feels like Subaru has fallen and can’t get up. Now it feels like they just look like too many other cars like Hyundai and stuff with a big spoiler
pretty sad considering mitsubishi evolved the evo very much quicker and the evo is still quicker than the sti especially the fq400 and even fq440 versions. 100 hp difference is astonishing sadly the evo died. i would love to see the evo again, since it was faster and evolved so much quicker.

But i Will agree the 06/07 is one beautiful car I own a 11 07 04 and i always find myself back in the 04 more then any of them .
Should’ve talked about the GC. They’re more interesting then all of them.
There’s seem to be no love for the 2015-2020 sti. Those years are my favorite. I like modern
Dont worry let a few years go by, there's still new so people have to grow love for it. I have a 2017 sti and i think it's a really nice car. But if i could choose I'd have a 11-14 sti sedan or 98-00 jdm sti.
Adventure Guy because they simply look to new to modern... it doesn’t have that RAW look and looks more luxurious than anything .
I love em all, but my 18' Type RA is my favorite of the 3 STI I've owned.
Wait.... I wanted to hear that!!
Love my Hawkeye!
My favorite is the bugeye wagon
Wasn't the '01 Bug eye the first STI ever to arrive in the US?
Best Sti in terms of engine byyyy farrrrr is any 2.0L sti, The 2001-2002 sti bugeye more specifically. It came with the EJ207 Version 7, factory forged pistons. Here in Australia good 207's push out 350kw with ease stock unopened engine.
Favourite STIS has to be the forester STI, since no one expects a wagon crossover to be that fast and well handling
most ideal STi- in the used market would be one that was left stock and serviced religiously
How could you skip gc8's my fav
2014 was my first car that i drove cool recommended by begginer racers
Why did you start in 2004 with the blob eye, did you not get 2002 bug eyes where your located???
my favourite is 2007 or 2006 hockeye
My favorite is the Hawkeye, but I want a Hatch, though IRL I own a 2016!
Hawkeye are very good lookin! How do you like your 16?
Ideal Cars I love it and it is so fun to drive, my favorite car yet, done around 95000 KM so far, and I am hoping to get the next generation that is if they don't screw it up, I live in a place where STIs are rare so it get lots of attention.
But it's not for everyone, the ride is hard and rough, in hot weather it looses power due to hot air, had the power steering leaking twice which apparently is a manufacturing defect, and I burnt the clutch once though it was my fault cause I did "few" launches.
I have an Invidia Q300, cold air intake and a tune only cause it is my daily.
1999 STI. Very rare in the US and mine was converted back to left hand drive.
Evo driver here - i love the gc8 so thats number1. Then hawkeye, then hatchback
First 3/6 are by far the coolest
Newest sti side profile looks like an 07 civic sedan 🤣. No offence but I think it is the ugliest sti in history that literally has an identity crisis in terms of looks.
I've daily'd a hawk for 10 years 👍
Keiron Peach any issues you have experienced bro? Been doing mine because my Honda’s tranny is going out and will stop dailying my hawkeye sti after I fix it? Also do you notice funny noises on cold starts sometimes? Feed back would be much appreciated.
So what’s the different from an Impreza sti and a wrx
The phase 1 Scoobies will always be my favourite. Especially the RA & 22B.
I had a 380bhp type-RA in 2005. Wish I had the funds for a 22B...🙈😩💰
U had the type-RA, u lucky bastard, and u still complain.
My favourite STI would be the Forester STi
Hey fellas, any STI will do. I am driving my Mum's 2001 Impreza hatch with 125 hp.
My favorite has the be the Hawkeye, mine is an 07 and the thing is a beast!!!
2007 sti gang where you at?
Zexonite 2007 is probably the best year but I do love the 2004 more. They forgot to mention that in 2007 they went back to top feed and fuel injectors
About to buy an 07 sti with 74k and tons of mods for 12k what do you think friend is it good or not
Rpkxnoscope NSG send the link and I’ll check it out
My favourite sti was from my 3rd ex. It was a surprise
Great choice!
There is one hawkeye limited version on sale for 65 000 dollars with only 2000 miles
wasnt the GD chassis the bugeye, blobeye and hawkeye ?
When you actually put all them together, the STI barely evolved over time
Don't fix what ain't broke
pretty sad considering mitsubishi evolved the evo very much quicker and the evo is still quicker than the sti especially the fq400 and even fq440 versions. 100 hp difference is astonishing sadly the evo died. i would love to see the evo again, since it was faster and evolved so much quicker.
@@Excepticus key word they died
@@marktupapi5609 bro they left it less points tho
