Just wanted to say a couple things here! FIRST I know I misred the archeops fact! more below. I made this fact video as a spiritual successor to the first Pokémon fact video I made back in august! (similar thumbnail and ending subject matter and tones through out) To really cement this series to this channel! if you missed my community post, Ive now committed to WEEKLY uploads! This is a big step for my work ethic and this channel as a whole, and I appreciate every so much for being on this journey with me! Here's to 100K and beyond this year! P.S I know I messed up with the archeops base stat total fact I literally have no idea how that slid through i proof watched this vid so many times lmao i always miss something sorry about that everyone!

I like to think of it as a conjurer whose in the middle of transforming themselves to mirror the environments they are in. If their concentration is slightly off, there is still a chance of them missing completely and therefore, not being able to fully complete their transformation.
In that sense, I like to think of the initial phase surrounding the move nature power as the "setting up" phase prior to the transformation variable taking full effect.

I had an action replay at the time, and had used it to do the Arceus event in Pearl cause I saw people on TH-cam do it, and wanted to experience it myself. Funny enough, I was actually the little kid on the Battle Dome play set way back in the day and can confirm that the shiny Kingdra was apart of the original concept. The battle dome you showed was very similar to the one I used when shooting the pictures but they took off some of the parts for different photos. To be honest (as a HUGE Pokemon fan growing up) I did notice the “discolored” Kingdra but most of the toys/props they used were cheaply made as they were cropping most of them out or photo editing something else in (an example being that the cannon I am “holding” on the box was actually not there I had to pretend I was holding it for hours hahaha). They just used the toys as references so I am guessing that they just did not care if they were accurate or not. Still cool to see that a toy I modeled for is in your video hahaha

You can probably also activate the Mr. Briney's house rival encounter by catching a Ralts and raising it until it learns Teleport if you don't want to black out. There's also another interesting trick you can do involving Teleport in the early game. If you bring something with Teleport with you to the Rustburo gym battle, you can Teleport as soon as you win the battle and exit the gym. This skips the trigger which starts the Team Aqua event at Rusturf Tunnel, so it doesn't activate until you walk into the zone it'd normally trigger.

Charizard being weak to ice actually lead to me believing for YEARS that fire and ice were both super effective against each other. Eventually I believed that his was either specific to gen 1 or something I made up entirely as a dumb kid. Thinking about it a few months back I finally pieced together that I misattributed the weakness to fire as a whole because Charizard would be my sole fire type, and I often forgot he was part flying. Also he mispronounced Rayquaza. Actually, nobody says Rayquaza right except for that one special episode of the anime in Pokémon X and Y. Rayquaza's name is based on the word "quasar", and if you check Oxford Dictionary, the pronunciation is /ˈKWĀˌzär/, not /ˈKWÄˌzär/. It's one of those things everybody gets wrong that's really annoying, like people struggling to pronounce "Zacian" when Bulbapedia says the name is based on the word "cyan", so it's not "zah-shee-an" or something, it's "za-SY-AN" like CYAN, just like "zaMAZENTA" is MAGENTA. 2:25 It's been awhile since I had Pokemon Ranch so I could be wrong but I used to use it all the time, trying to trigger events and get Hayley's special Pokemon (especially that nifty Mew 👀). One event I remember is if you transfered a certain number of Water type Pokemon you could make them all ride a giant wave across the ranch. Another one that can be unlocked happens when you transfered a certain amount of Flying types you could make them fly in a huge V-shape! There's others I can't recall enough to describe though, I'm 80% certain there's a stampede one with Tauros and Miltanks (Maybe Normal types?) and a Psychic type one akin to the ones above where they all float. As well as a lot of Pokemon specific ones, there's Gardevoir one I think? Anyway! Pretty neat! I feel special knowing I've seen them haha!

10:52 this is my favourite bit of Pokémon shiny hunting. Every RPG acknowledge secret collectibles and rare items, so they’re completely public and no longer secret. Shinies, in the other hand, are almost completely secret. The average player won’t find out about them without outside help, and are an amazing collectible that’s somewhat acknowledged in recent games, but still seemingly ignored and practically forgotten about by Nintendo. True game design at its peak (and that’s serious).

An alternative answer to the shiny Kingdra figure is that the mold coloring was not complete. This is very common in test samples and prototypes of action figures. This would explain it's Red body as well.
Granted it still existed, and was used in a promotional image for the playset, lots of sample products are either destroyed or stolen/sold off by the factory workers.

    • @Zepimo123
      @Zepimo123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

Also, forgot to mention. The fact that it's a test image of the set also explains the odd display choices. The Pikachu figures, bonsly and mudkips are all from other figure packs(I actually have both of the Pikachu figures, they were released in a pack of 3 Pokemon iirc)
This also explains the armless and off color Geodudes, they are most likely incomplete molds of the final Geodude figure, in fact you can tell that they are in an even earlier state of production because of the lack of polishing and sharp edges.

Would be cool to get a regional mudkip that isn't a neotene and becomes a land-dwelling salamander!
Also multiple Pokémon can be based on the same thing. Regis and Golurk are both golems, Moltres and Ho-oH are both phoenixes, Venusaur and Vileplume are both rafflesias, Musharna and Drowzee are both baku/tapirs, not to mention how many butterflies, cats, dogs and other more common anmals we have.

Nowadays, it's Bug is not Very effective against Poison, but Poison is only neutral against Bug!

Thank you so much for bringing up the Pokemon Combat Figures. I've held onto my figures over the years, but I've never been able to search for more since I'd forgotten what they were called. I currently have a Nidorino, Graveler, Blastoise, Venasaur, and Charizard (albeit with a missing wing), and used to have an Articuno figure before I gave it away. I've always loved those figures since they were so much bigger than the Tomy figures I had in my collection.
Maybe one of these days I'll see how much they go for so I could purchase a few more of them.
I also still have My Pokemon Ranch on my Wii, and it still works, so maybe one of these days I'll see if I can get some footage of some of the other in-game events that no one else shared online. Thank you for sharing this video, I really enjoyed seeing all of the old footage and learning all of these cool facts.
I also really wish I went to the Pokemon Center in NYC before it changed into Nintendo World. I first went to Nintendo World during my high school years, which was shortly after the Pokemon Center's final year. This would make sense as Ruby and Sapphire came out at the end of 2002, and they would've likely promoted Gen III Pokemon in 2003. The Johto Journeys anime introduced shiny Noctowl to the US in April 2001, so I would expect them to want to wait a bit to release other shiny merchandise. I'm assuming Pokemon TCG doesn't count because they had "Shining" Pokemon well before these figures.

I will say, the Pokemon dome prototype must have been a concept cause I remember having both that mudkip and bonsly action figure as a kid but purchased them solely as action figures. I never bought the battle dome

I remember the sinjoh ruins 10 years ago. I gamesharked for every event item so i could properly get every legendary. Such a trippy little event but i loved that about the old gen 3 and 4 games. Just hated that i had to cheat for the items to do the full events.
Btw the created legendary from arceus is a lv 1 too. How cool is that?

pretty cool facts, only one i knew about already was charizard being weak to ice in gen 1. I've seen those old shiny pokemon action figures before somewhere but i didnt know they were the oldest of their kind, wild.

Wow that charizard ice thing blew my mind I remember having a charizard as a kid and it made me think that ice was strong against fire at one point and I couldn't remember why I thought that till now.

Man I loved Gen 4 of Pokémon so much because of all the weird things you could do with your pokemon. DSP were awesome, bringing your team to Battle Revolution was super cool, transferring Pokémon to Ranch was so fun and satisfying to see your Ranch grow, getting special pokemon from games like Pokémon Ranger, etc. Such a cool, interconnected generation

Just checked Nature Power's accuracy in a Showdown custom game using Building Terrain (Swift), and there is actually a 5% chance the move will fail before determining the environmental move. Rather than saying the move failed, the game will say that the Pokemon that used Nature Power had avoided the attack. This means that this accuracy check is self inflicted, and takes the user's accuracy and evasion modifiers into consideration; I boosted the user's evasion and lowered its accuracy to their limits, and the move almost never connected with the user.

I wonder if that’s just the result of the programmers on Showdown seeing the 95% accuracy description and coding it in without checking too much how it actually works on a real game

    • @mitkru16

@@lindseylindsey9200 The Showdown devs created the battle simulator to be an exact clone of each of Pokémon’s battle systems, sometimes even saying “this is how it works in game” when an interaction is suspect. Other sources point to this interaction being the case (such as Bulbapedia saying the move targets the user pre-Gen VI). I’m sure you could try it in-game and get the same results as Showdown.

@@mitkru16 Guess I didn’t consider that, and I can contest that even in XY it targets the user, so huh, maybe the chance is real

3:00 oh GOD that’s some deja vu or something, I completely forgot that Pokémon Dash existed and I remember getting it from dimple records for like $5 before it closed down years and years ago. I barely played it but what the heck that’s a memory I forgot I had
