The MVSX is a fantastic cab specially with the hylo hack. Many games included without the hack also. I totally agree with the pros and cons you pointed out Phil. 2 things I would have liked is the power in the front and having the control deck come out a bit more. It’s hard playing if you want to sit down. And maybe online play. I know many say back in the day online play wasn’t available it’s not authentic, but when we play tmnt or xmen Phil that’s the same feeling when I was at the arcade playing with different kids. We all had one thing in common in that moment. Destroy shredder or magneto. So online is perfect in recreating moment like those. Phil you’re on🔥 putting out all these videos. 👊🏼

Man I feel old … have no arcade memories or nostalgia with the NeoGeo it seems as it came out in 1990 when those days were behind me and I had entered my Sega Genesis time at home. But boy if I was still in the arcades at that time this would be a great cabinet to have !! And great flexibility with the onboard 50 games and the almost unlimited plug and play mod too Thanks for sharing PD7!

Finally pulled the trigger on one lol. Amazon is showing delivery set for next Wednesday. I’m so excited! Get my flash drive tomorrow so I can get hylostick ready! I hope it works 😅 I’d actually be willing to buy game packs if they would release them officially. I hate when companies sit on their catalog of games and don’t do anything with them. Cool video! @bigmansavagedan81 I don’t think so, there’s a chance they used different monitors through production. If it gets worse then maybe, but I think everyone has it. Still way better than some TN monitors.

Just my opinion, but the MVSX is the single best 3/4 arcade unit you can have, and that is factoring in the hylo hack as well. It's simply a superb bang for the buck. The controls are solid as well, I haven't had any problems after 2+ years myself. It should be mentioned that the 2 extra White buttons are not wired, you'll have to wire those to the board if you want to utilize them. Also, PD7, with the hylostick, I think it's more important that a USB 3.0 is used, but I did plug mine directly inside the machine getting rid of the extra cable, it works stable.

PD7, Yeah, I love my MVSX. I'm so glad that Unico got the SNK license when they did and that Arcade1Up's concept Neo Geo cab with only 3 King of Fighters games never came out. Unico brought the value, games wise, where Arcade1Up still struggles. 50 GAMES! This is how you do value right! I did the Hylox soft mod on mine, and I can attest, I eventually had to plug it inside the cabinet's actual USB port as that VERY CHEAP connection cable eventually gave out. I'm glad yours still works, but at least you know the work around if it ever does go out. The version of Hylox I got, none of the Non Neo Geo fighters, like the Capcom ones, are configured correctly, punches and kicks randomly placed, so I avoid playing them. However, I got Hylox just to play the full library of Neo Geo games, which it has, and I couldn't be happier. I don't think they'll ever be a MVSX 2 until licensing can be figured out. The last I heard, which was years ago and why Unico said they couldn't add more games to the MVSX, was because all the other Neo Geo Arcade licenses were purchased by a Saudi prince. That's not a joke, that's actually what happened. But now that I have the Hylox soft mod, the only way I would buy an MVSX 2, is if they had the ability to purchase all the Neo Geo Arcade games and that the button configuration was a correctly positioned 4 button layout. Sure, this would limit something like a Hylox, but it would make it better for me to play Neo Geo games on. Cabinet uniformity. This was something I was actually worried about when I started my own Home Arcade. I didn't want all the cabinets to look the same. I grew up in the early days of arcades, in the 70s and 80s where most cabinets were different shapes and sizes. Thank goodness for other 3/4 Scale cabinet companies like Unico and iiRcade coming along, and Arcade1Up switching it up from time to time, because I now have a Home Arcade were every cabinet is a different shape and design, just like I remember from the early days in commercial arcades. Now in the time of Street Fighter II, I started to see many arcades utilizing the same cabinet design, just with different artwork. And this is why I get why some people prefer cabinet uniformity in their Home Arcades, so I guess there's options for all :) Great to hear you're still having fun with the MVSX. PD7, No, I haven't been able to build the cabs as of yet, still recovering from injury. Hopefully in July or August, but it could go beyond that. Yeah, things are piling up and it's going to be a huge project. Gotta build the Time Crisis and add the Buy Stuff Arcades Mod, Gotta do the Out Run Buy Stuff Arcades Mod, still need to unbox and build the AtGames 4KP I got back in January, need to assemble the riser I got for the MVSX, and Buy Stuff Arcades riser extenders for my Arcade1Up Defender and Arcade1Up Pac-Man Namco Legacy. Then I be working on adding the extension of my Halloween Theme Park to the Home Arcade as well as moving in my Numskull TMNT and Space Invaders and Space Invaders Deluxe 1/4 scale machines. This accident really set me back. I can still play games in my Home Arcade, but it looks like a mess right now with parts everywhere. Very depressing :( But, I think I'll have everything done before the end of the year. At least I'm at a place where I feel well enough to release a video now and then :) Have a great one! vgv
The MVSX is awesome with or without the HyloX, the power button being on the back inst a big deal for me Mr7 because i have room to reach around , I am a big fan of fighting games so its perfect for me, in my opinion fighting games are meant to be played on stand up arcade ,machines, unfortunately for me Mr7 my MVSX did not come with a BOE monitor, I got mine last November and it came with a monitor with poor viewing angles, I contacted unico about this and they said that their amazon sales teem would contact me about this but I haven't heard nothing to this date, since i do play it only standing up its no big deal but once I move over to another machine and glance at it from an angle its like AAHGGG LOL. Great video Mr7, I am glad you decided to keep and enjoy this cab, variety is the spice of life. Oh by the way, the audio was clear but tiny, especially compared to my Arcade1up's, so I did upgrade with an amp and bookshelf speakers, it was easier than I thought and it now sounds awesome!

@@PDX7 Im assuming they ran out of good monitors and decided to just go with these cheap monitors because I returned the first cab because of this , I assumed this was a defect because all the reviews on this cab (including yours) didn't mention any washout or bad viewing angles, but the second one was the same. Yeah, I gotta admit, sitting down is a must for long games like Sengoku 3 lol.
I really need to grab the proper riser. Did not know there was one for the MVSX. Mine's still working. I'd love to find a HiLo hack for it, but still, 50 games is pretty sweet. I'm like you, in that I tend to only play the Metal Slug games on it. Thanks for the video. :)

I've always wanted this. But it's a bit too pricey, especially since it comes in like 3 parts. At this point I'll just keep waiting for a sale. Great review btw.
Imho: no worth it. In its original factory condition its just a tacky product with a cheeky selection of games. Poor screen, shabby controlls, mediocre Sound and a defective structure considering the two panels which won't correctly fit by any means, somewhat like Ikea-furniture. I'd highly recommend to spend the money on a (consolized) MVS or AES system combined with a CRT-Monitor if you are into it for the Neo Geo aspect. If you wanna have an arcade cabinet: build your own with quality-parts combined with parts from aliexpress which are mostly better than their reputation. As for the games: Pandorabox in one of its many iterations will do the job just fine and is capable of playing systems like Dreamcast, PSP and so too advanced for the MVSX.
@juliusnielsen7122 I think the look of this cab is what draws people to choosing this over a Pandora’s box, it just fits in a Gameroom. Not for everyone though I get it :)
Have owned this for 2 years and after swapping buttons, sticks/gates, speakers, 19" IPS, and diy riser, I have actually spent more time screwing around modding it than actually playing it =p
My Neo Geo Mini is enough for me, but yeah... They are fighter heavy! Good stuff if you are in to it. I like the shooters and Metal Slug stuff but there are some nice ones that were missing. Neo Drift Out, Neo Mr. Do, Neo Turf Masters... I wouldnt run out and buy it if they added them but fighters seem to be their bread and butter.
@@PDX7 I ordered it from a game company in the UK that sells new and used arcade cabs it came damaged they sent me a replacement and told me to keep the damaged one it was buy one get one free haha. I fixed the damaged one and hacked it with the HyloX and Capcom packs I love it!
I held off for a long time waiting for a version 2 to correct the absurd power button, speaker location, bigger control deck and added games. But that was clearly not happening so bought last year. We like it but those grievances remain. Not adding hylo as the alu takes care of the massive multicade with bigger screen and deck. Riser was a must. Definitely too short without and I'm only 5 8. Damn shame they abandoned mvsx instead of coming back with a better version.
I was hoping for the MVSX 2, but I think it’s all Nova Blast from them going forward. Wish they could do both, I guess maybe there’s a chance they want to sell OG out first, but I know it’s wishful thinking:)
I always liked this cabinet. maybe if it really goes on sale I can put it upstairs. AngelO is being bad on my ALU's she likes to chew on the ball tops lol, its not bad just need to break her of that habit, shes still a young wild panther.

man i love neogeo i have collected aes games for 20 years but after the huge issue with my last multi game cabinet when the company refused to help me and i couldn't find anyone to repair it. it resulted in me demolishing the entire cabinet. I think i will stick to conventional usb rather than cabinets that use jamma harness and soldering. i would love a retro pi 5 cabinet
There’s some investigating to do online to find the downloads or you can just purchase a usb stick with a version on it from eBay if you search Hylox. Not all the roms will be perfect either way you go, but you’ll get 600+ games
Decent cab, but that control panel is absolutely crap. Way too small to even rest your palms on. Poorly designed cab, with speakers on the bottom. Not sure who gave the green light to this but they need to be fired.

Nice review. I have always found some random box / object to put behind the MVSX and it more or less solves shaking issues.
That’s a good idea, maybe the carpet I have doesn’t help either but it sure rocks.

I just ordered mine to the UK my 3rd home arcade and for the next one I will build a DIY Japanese-inspired candy cab style Pandora box arcade.

I held off for a long time waiting for a version 2 to correct the absurd power button, speaker location, bigger control deck and added games. But that was clearly not happening so bought last year. We like it but those grievances remain. Not adding hylo as the alu takes care of the massive multicade with bigger screen and deck. Riser was a must. Definitely too short without and I'm only 5 8. Damn shame they abandoned mvsx instead of coming back with a better version.
I was hoping for the MVSX 2, but I think it’s all Nova Blast from them going forward. Wish they could do both, I guess maybe there’s a chance they want to sell OG out first, but I know it’s wishful thinking:)
I always liked this cabinet. maybe if it really goes on sale I can put it upstairs. AngelO is being bad on my ALU's she likes to chew on the ball tops lol, its not bad just need to break her of that habit, shes still a young wild panther.

man i love neogeo i have collected aes games for 20 years but after the huge issue with my last multi game cabinet when the company refused to help me and i couldn't find anyone to repair it. it resulted in me demolishing the entire cabinet.
I think i will stick to conventional usb rather than cabinets that use jamma harness and soldering. i would love a retro pi 5 cabinet

@SuperEarther I don’t know much about it just you’ll need the 6 buttons so you could play just about anything.
I'd drill holes above the monitor and move the speakers there.

On the fence of getting one. With the hylo hack csn you get the same game set as the mvc2 a1up?
You could add any game you want just have to find that particular rom. They’re out there, keep an eye for sales I think 400 or less is a great price.

There’s some investigating to do online to find the downloads or you can just purchase a usb stick with a version on it from eBay if you search Hylox. Not all the roms will be perfect either way you go, but you’ll get 600+ games

Decent cab, but that control panel is absolutely crap.
Way too small to even rest your palms on.
Poorly designed cab, with speakers on the bottom. Not sure who gave the green light to this but they need to be fired.
lol I know the deck needs to be longer, almost perfect cab!
I dont think id ever get one of these just because theres no space to rest your palm. thats annoying to me even on real arcade cabinets
