@WrestlingWithGaming Just finished it up now 💪 Love the pc88 paradise videos. A peek of into a world of gaming that I've never been able to be a part of.
I love this channel and especially this Neo-Geo series. Thank you I am a massive NeoGeo collector from Australia. You put in a lot of hard work on this series and I for one really appreciate your work. Can't wait for the next in the series. Merry X-mas.
This was the first game I bought when I got back into collecting Neo Geo games. The button bashing is just a nightmare, it's impossible to win any grapple after the third round, so you have to essentially cheese your way through the rest of the game. If only they made the game more akin to Saturday Night Slam Masters, the Taito arcade wrestling game that had Rastan in it, or even the wrestling game on the Neo Geo Pocket. But I always thought Master Barnes was based more on Ludvig Borger. Also, selectable characters as a final boss in fighting games. No no no.
I love 3 Count Bout Alec. It's one of my favorite Pro Wrestling video games of all time. What really is impressive for me and the family is in Stage 2 of the Parking Garage is the fact that we had a 1986 Dodge Ram Conversion Van that looked exactly like the one that was on display in the game. It looked so real to as at the time that it was just scary. I mean we felt SNK copied the look of our van.. 8^) To this day, me and the family are still mesmerized by it even if it was over 30 years ago. 8^) Thank you for sharing this with us brother man. Keep up the great work for sure. 8^) Anthony..
Another great episode of Neo Geo Generations, with an awesome cameo as well! Always like to see these videos, regardless of the series. Thanks for the great upload basement bro's!
This shows how I have llittle to no knowledge about the Neogeo's library. I always enjjoyed the 16 bit wrestling games and I'll definitely hgave to try this one out
This series always brings back great memories to me. Neo Geo MVS cabinets were all over the place when I was a kid (my local Wal-Mart had one for ages).
Almost definitely as I'm pretty sure that Hulk Hogan has inspired a lot of wrestling-themed characters in fighting games & beat 'em-ups. Alex from Street Fighter III is one that immediately springs to mind, as his unique intro animation with Hugo, who is based on André the Giant, is a reference to a famous match between Hulk Hogan and André, that took place at WrestleMania III.
Awesome review had a friend that was a big fan of this game. The ADpcm channels on the NEO GEO are insane. i made a remix recently of the tune Rock Downfall tune from Space Megaforce on the snes. initially i was going to do a YM3438 remix but i switched over to the MAME YM2608 driver and i have to say out of all the arcade \ console \ home computers that chip has the best FM Imo but the ADPCM was a bit weak. So i threw in a YM2610B with the extra 2 FM channels and used ADPCM-B for a drum set and ADPCM-B for separated drums along with using 4 of the Ym2610's FM channels for FM drums and OH BOY those drums sounded good! i used the other FM channels to help out the baseline. but yea what a COMBO
If I may take a stab (heh) at the influences for the cast: Terry Rogers - Though his name is definitely taken from Terry Funk, I think he's more visually influenced by the likes of Kerry Von Erich and Lex Luger (Even if this game's development predates Luger's All-American gimmick) Blues Hablam & Blubber Man - Abdullah the Butcher crossed with Headhunter A & B, two face-painted Puerto Rican wrestlers who were regulars of the deathmatch scene at the time. Since he wears a mask as Hablam, they moved the paint to his body instead of his face. Roy Wilson - You're right on the money here. This is Bruiser Brody all the way, every day. Leo Bradlay - His chains are almost certainly inspired by the likes of the Junkyard Dog and Hercules Hernandez, outside of that it's hard to nail down exactly who inspired him. Canada wasn't exactly known for producing hardcore wrestlers in the 90s and wearing denim to the ring wouldn't become commonplace for another few years. The Red Dragon - As you and Yahel said, Muta. Gochack Bigbomb & Big Bomberder - Definitely a lot of Vader (which is confusing when you consider that Big Bear/Raiden from Fatal Fury is so clearly Big Van Vader, it's amazing that Leon White never sued), but with him being extremely tall, pudgy and dressed like a street brawler, I'd say he has quite a bit of the One Man Gang in him as well. ...Giggity. The Gandhara - This is one of those reaching moments Yahel spoke of, but hear me out. He's billed from India, he breathes fire, he's very speedy and kick-focused: what if he's meant to be a send-up of Sabu? Sabu's named for his uncle's, The Original Sheik favorite Indian actor, said uncle was also fond of using fire in his matches, and Sabu in his prime was a high flying daredevil who incorporated a lot of kicks into his arsenal. Master Barners - And we end the list with another obvious one as you both noted, the Road Warriors merged together into one super wrestler.
Blubberman and his body swap may have been based off of Yokozuna or any number of Samoan wrestlers that had wild monster gimmicks back in the 80’s and 90’s.
Certainement mon jeu numero 1, tellement plaisant et satisfaisant une fois en main ! Andy et Terry Bogard sont dans la foule à l'entrée des catcheurs d'ailleurs.
on some real shit, I never would have gotten into japanese music if I didn't come across the Neo Alec Unofficial Neo Geo Page. Caught that shit right before you turned it into J-Fan, had a lot of good times there.
Fantastic Video as usual Alec - However, I can't say I ever really cared for this game - I switched from collecting for the Neo CD to the AES, specifically to avoid the regular loading on VS fighting games. I picked up 3 Count Bout on cartridge early on, as it was very affordable - But honestly, I traded it in after a couple of years, as I never really enjoyed playing it - which is a real shame, as based on it's theme and style, I think it could have been a banger!! Looking forward to art of Fighting next time around and then Samurai Showdown - 2 absolute corkers in a row!! **PS. great to see Yahel from Wrestling with gaming here - The story of Neo Geo video he put out a few years ago NEVER gets old!!
I'm glad to know it's not just me and that the game really is both hard and obtuse. I have to admit though that as someone who likes wrestling, it always felt a little off. Like they hadn't seen a lot of wrestling to know what would seem authentic. Maybe it's different for Japanese players though. I can only speak for myself.
I don't think I understood what you meant by "brothers" until this video. I've been somewhat confused why you kept bringing up brothers, since it only seemed like you on the channel. I thought maybe siblings worked on this channel together, maybe in the background. But you calling yourself Neo Alec there made me realize it's just you, but each "brother" covers a different system. I've been watching a couple years now and I just got that, lol. Think I found the channel when you were around 2000 subs. OK but then later in the video you talk about brothers as if they were real and nearby to you, so I remain confused, lol.
Why do you think we're all the same person? The only time I usually mention my brothers in the video is when we capture 2-player footage together, and I'm not sure how one person would do that with a bunch of made up split personalities. Sounds kind of crazy to me. One brother has way more time to make videos, and another never ended up making videos at all, so the concept never really came together. But I assure you, it are three separate brothers. You can hear all of us together in some of our earlier videos like the "BB Reviews."
Played through this a few years back, making extremely frequent save states. Not a fan of the gameplay whatsoever, but the music and graphics ARE quite good, I will also admit.
Yeah, kids today complain about how WWE 2K20 is a bad game (and it was), but man, every time I tried to play a pro wrestling video game that wasn't named "Fire Pro" (with a few exceptions), it usually was a bad time all around, and just lead to disappointment (and always wondering what could have been a fun experience if minor things were added or tweaked).
Two player is definitely the way to go for this game, but man single player is just not fun at all. I'm not a fan of arcade fighting games where legitimately the only way to win the single player mode is to exploit the AI. There's Street Fighter 2 hard, SNK brutal, and then shite like Mortal Kombat 2 where I don't want to even bother playing anymore.
Hang on. There's more than one Basement Brother?? And they play games that aren't on the PC-88 and 98??? I've watched a BUNCH of videos on this channel over the last year plus and never heard of any of this 😂
I welcome the feedback. Please tell me what's gone wrong in this one. I had a hard time learning this game, so I did my best to document it despite my lack of skill.
My brother has been working very hard on this video for months. Basement Brothers has always been a shared channel, and the Neo Geo series has always been a core part of it. If you just wait a few more weeks there will be another PC-88 or PC-98 Paradise again as always. No need to unsubscribe and definitely no need to be rude about it. -from Mr. Jakes

Thanks for letting me be a small part of the video. I appreciate it!
I clicked on the video thinking it was a new wrestling with gaming video. Heard basement bros voice and then gotten confused 😵💫🤭
@@borrellipatrick 😂 hope you enjoyed it. Alec's NEO GEO videos are great. As are the other series his brother does on the channel.

Haha. Hope you weren't too disappointed.
Hey!! Its wrestlez n gamin!
Delighted to see a new episode of Neo Geo Generation! This is the reason I am subscribed to the channel and it's been too long!!
I can confirm that a standard dose of Wrestling is over 10mg.
Of which steroid?
Woo I'd been looking forward to this! Great guest appearance too, definitely was fun to learn!
I love this channel and especially this Neo-Geo series. Thank you I am a massive NeoGeo collector from Australia. You put in a lot of hard work on this series and I for one really appreciate your work. Can't wait for the next in the series. Merry X-mas.
Hell yeah! What a great guest! I just watched his NBA JAM documentary last weekend!
Thanks!
@WrestlingWithGaming thanks so much for all your work on your channel, it's much appreciated!
@@ciaranmccarthy you should also check pandamonium's nba jam documentary if you like that game
SNK's got the prescription for action: 10 mg!

I'm shocked (no pun intended) on how pretty this game is
Another great episode of Neo Geo Generations, with an awesome cameo as well! Always like to see these videos, regardless of the series. Thanks for the great upload basement bro's!
The sprites for this are awesome. I really like all the little details added in to character animations and the like too.
3 Count Bout could have been epic if the difficulty was toned down and the mechanics tweaked. Two player is fun though.
Hi Wrastlin! 👋
@gorilla_jones ! Haha good to see you buddy
Nice to see this series back; well done as usual. Also, _very_ excited to see Art of Fighting next on the docket.
I have been waiting ages for the next neogeo installment...
As for this game... Damn it was hard as balls.
Red dragon was the great muta. That one was the clearest
For me it's all about that "legally distinct" 90s Nissan Fairlady Z (or 300ZX if you prefer NA model names) on the left side of the street arena.
You can tell the devs were heavily inspired by and big fans of FMW
Yeah, the electrified ring and weapons certainly remind me of FMW.
I too remember the Neo Geo 10mg Mega High.
Yes!!! Neo Geo Generation returns!!!
Terry Barns has to be Hulk Hogan. He’s got long blonde hair, is patriotic, and his name is Terry!
IIRC Shawn Michaels had that gimmick around that time
@@PAKA62he was a Rocker then HBK and wasn’t named Terry lol

I think it might be more closely based on Terryman from Kinnikuman who in turn was loosely based on a very young Terry Funk.
Thanks for ending my sunday with some sweet neo geo generation
This was like Art of Fighting 2 to me as a teen... its fantastic 2 players but ... almost unplayable as a solo game due to difficulty.
Isn't M.Barnes the guy in the arm contest machine in Fatal Fury?
Oh neat, a LordBBH mention. The internets most legendary Chicken Farm player!
Oh boy, we finally getting to the fighting games proper.

Dude! Nice shout out to Lord BBH!
Is Roy Wilson related to Bob Wilson from Fatal Fury 3?
Another great vid man.
Personally never liked 3 count, I also found it frustrating!
Looking forward to your next one 😃
Terry Barns may be based on Lex Luger when he was in the WWF doing the American Hero gimmick.
You know a wrestling game sucks when its not recommended to use grappling to win matches.
Man, this game was hard. I never saw past the 4th match. And I had to use a few quarters to get that far.
Most of the early games for the MVS have that clunky feeling. Later titles feel much tighter.
If I may take a stab (heh) at the influences for the cast:
Terry Rogers - Though his name is definitely taken from Terry Funk, I think he's more visually influenced by the likes of Kerry Von Erich and Lex Luger (Even if this game's development predates Luger's All-American gimmick)

I was wondering if Kamala was inspiration for Blues/Blubber because of a fat guy with body paint?
@@Rando1975 Aagh! How did I forget Kamala!? And he worked in Japan a lot too...
