I had mine for several years already. It's been completely modded since then. Real sticks and buttons, 19 inch monitor, and running on a mini PC that could run Steam and emulate just about everything!
The MVSX is on my wishlist. Like the original hardware, the MVSX likely will not dip in price! The power button on the back is a weird oversight though. Great review, and I think this cab is perfect for use Neo Geo fans.
Thank you for watching! If you ever pull the trigger you won’t regret it, I missed this on the review the cab is light enough that I tip it forward to power on and off.
For both stand and bartop should be 300 used 539 gets you a new cab. If you bought 100 bartop you could pickup stand brand new on Amazon for 100-132, not a bad price. Thank you for watching Lazy M91!
Good job PD7 I am happy for you. I love Neo Geo. I have had the real arcade MVS since 2000. I have about 20 games for it and let me tell you I paid over the years probably $2000 or more for them. Mvsx looks awesome and I hope to purchase one someday. 🙏 Great reviews.
I paid $569 for the riser and stand bundle it looks like it’s around $629 now. There’s probably a sale coming in July, if you don’t buy the rider it’s as tall as Midway Legacy.
Hey its me again the dude who just bought the mk lol. Do you recommend this cab today? I'm thinking about it. One thing I'm hearing is there's no dip switch settings (metal slug blood) in particular. The ral nastaga for this cab is knowing that this system back in the 90s was $600 for home use and $300+ for the games. Granted I have all this on my ALU. BUT THIS CAB LOOKS COOL.
I remember you man :) I really like this cab, the 50 games are good but the Hylox hack really adds so much and saves a few spots for more arcades. The cool thing about MVSX is it resembles a real arcade like 1up so they will pair good together in a room.
I enjoyed your review. The MVSX has bright screen and nice looking cabinet. The heights issues to me are not really an issue if you can adjust it. I'm 6'5" and my GF is 5'. Its impossible to fit the cabinets to every height with a riser. So one of my ALU's is on a 5" riser and I can stand and play it fine, 40.5" to the deck and 70.5" tall. The other ALU is stock and I understand why these companies size them for the average to catering to adults and kids alike. My ALU mini is stock height and I like to play it sitting in a chair you can sort of hug it with your legs and get closer. I understand why MVSX made the cabinet the size they did, they probably sell alot overseas where room is a premium and its primarily a bartop arcade fitted to a stand/riser. The deck size is abit small for my tastes, again this might be a more regional decision, in Asia this might be more inline with space requirements and its original design intent as a bar top arcade product. I think they got some things right with this cabinet, the monitor looks good and appropriate for the games include, if not mentioned its 1280 x 1024, 17" The cabinet looks bright and vivid and the colored buttons is a nice choice, worthy a copy for me down the road on button swap on the ALU's. The bezel also looks really good, kudos to MVSX. You know the games will run as expected with no emulation issues, Metal Gear Slug is a known problem child for others to run smoothly. The audio wasn't discussed much, I would want to know how loud it can get, Can you confirm the speaker size I think its 3" 5 watt, the placement of them is abit odd so I would want to know more if I was considering purchase. The MVSX CPU is ATM7051 Quad-Core, this could be a limited factor when attempting to add additional games but I haven't dug deep enough but 256MB of ram is pretty low but it does have 8GB of onboard total storage I believe. The MVSX is a good solid bartop arcade that has been fitted to be on a stand and a riser, if you go in with that understanding, then you realize why the choices were made for, power button placement, speaker placement, deck size and why the bartop portion is fully assembled. Atgames ALU, Mini ALU comes similarly fully assemble top section and you put the bottom portion together in about 15 minutes but is not designed or intended as bartop. My final comments would be on the support comments. While I am no fan of Arcade1up and do not own any of their cabs, from my takeaway from others their customer support is pretty good, Atgames customer support is not the best, but they answer me in a timely matter and I am pretty technical to fix, troubleshoot on my own and or ask the huge community base for assistance. iiRcade customer support to be honest is an unknown, I have heard some have had issues, enough to give me pause but I really like the Gold and your space invaders art work, I see a reskin in my future on the ALU. Can't wait to see who and what you mod on it down the road, buttons, speakers? I think its pretty easy to swap out stuff on these cabs. Great review, looking forward to your future Atgames Legends Ultimate review with BitLCD installed, while you are at it throw in the 4 player deck, that's on my radar but I don't really need a 4 player yet.
Thank you for your comments Carl, I always look forward to hearing from you and I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. I really like the MVSX I think it really fits the room and it’s made pretty good. The games are growing on my, thinking of the Hylox but most of the games are available in iircade and I don’t want to take that away from my Space Invaders cab. Even the the deck isn’t deep, I haven’t been uncomfortable playing yet. With the highest setting on the riser it might actually be a good height for you. I was thinking about You and Biggggy when I was assembling and thought this height would work for Carl and Biggggy. Thank you for watching
