- Nick Wright joins The Herd to talk to Colin Cowherd about this historic NBA Finals, and what he thinks about how the Denver Nuggets have built their team for this moment. While Nick admits he would not fault anyone for naming Nikola Jokić greatest NBA player alive after winning Finals MVP, he explains why he's not quite on that train yet. Plus, Patrick Mahomes has proven he's on a level above other quarterbacks, but can he take the Kansas City Chiefs to yet another Super Bowl win?

Why? The tool has never been right about anything. He's acting like he only questioned if Jokic was an "all-time great" and in the top 25 of all time until today, but that's BS. A few weeks ago he was stating that Jokic wasn't even in the top 5 for MVP this season. Now he acts like he was just asking for a ring to prove Jokic' worth. The historical rewrite here is just preposterous. Fortunately, the internet has the proof of what he actually said.
The problem with Nick's point is that he consistently picked against the Nuggets, repeatedly said that Joker was the worst MVP of all time, and that Joker's numbers were a mirage. This dude wanted an awards vote. Absolute idiot.
Who exactly is Nick Wright? Mediocre "analyst", just another media clown, his entire "argumentation" is based on his opinion/bias. Why is his opinion of any significance? 99% bloggers on YT know more about the game than Nick.
Nick wrong said Jokic was the worst MVP in the last 35 years.
why would I do that, Nick Wrong?
Seeing Nick eat his words back to back years with the Warriors and Nuggets is delicious
Hes fine. He got to see lebron take down the warriors. He’s not worried about Denver lol
@@christopherwetherspoon5844 I was more referring to after the Wiggins trade when he declared the Warriors and Curry would never win another title.
and with both brady retirements🤣
but he IS NOT eating them, he is perpetually trying to weasel out of every dumb statement
@@christopherwetherspoon5844 He knows he'll never be able to live down his "worst MVP ever" take on Jokic after this. That was honestly a middle-school level point of view.
So let me get this straight. Nick can say Luka is already an all time great playoff performer but with Jokic it was too soon? Nick was wrong and now trying to spin it.
Glad someone said it
Yep. Straight from "Mr consistents" mouth.
This dude is straight trash.
Loudmouthed, biased sockpuppet. He should quit his day job and go work at CrispyCrow Bird Burger. 😝
SuperTeams... what a clown car joke!
I think he always said Luka was an all-time great playoff performer but not an all-time great player yet. You can be an incredible playoff performer without winning the rings or having the regular seasons and awards to make you an all-time great player
@@micahmartens7770 He said Jokic stunk in the playoffs specifically because he wasn't winning when Facu Compazzo and Austin Rivers were his backcourt in the playoffs while he's dropping 31/13/6.
Jokic has statistically the 2nd greatest improvement in points per game in the regular season to points per game in the playoffs for his career in NBA history at a 7.3 point increase. 2nd only to Jamal Murray who is at 8.1 point increase. 3rd all time is dirk at 4.6 point increase. These guys are historically great playoff performers.
He's trying to have his cake and eat it too, and there is no way around it.
Nick doing his best to hide the fact that he’s been dogging Jokić for years, even saying he’s the least impressive MVP in recent memory.
Fr. I need someone to make an AI Renaissance style painting of Nick Wrong, Kendrick Porkins, and Skip Brainless all together in the same boat, holding a gigantic "L"... While Jokic is overlooking them from a cliff, on horseback(of course). 😂
Please, can someone make this happen?
What else can be said when Jokić just shoved his right foot into this idiot mouth, denied of a well deserved season MVP he went out and won the finals MVP
Jokic is great, but people completely disrespected Murray. WIthout Murray the last two years the Nuggets weren't winning much despite having the mvp. With Murray back they coast to a championship.
Nick wright has an axe to grind with all denver teams. He also unilaterally has the worst take on sports that I've ever heard
Yeah, how we dare he ask that Jokic get it done in the post season before calling him the best player in the world, and then immediately call him the best player in the world after he does that. What a ridiculous standard to hold a player to. How silly of him to want his great players to do great things before calling them great.
Nick said that Nikola is worst mvp in last 35 years.Good one Nick smh...like always Wrong!!!
Before this playoffs, he was a playoff choker. Sorry he couldn’t predict the future and foresee a historic title run…

Nick is definitely a jokic hater he singled jokic out for winning mvp but now he got a ring let’s see if he keep the same energy for Joel
He was an all time great after he won 2 mvps. The title puts him in a very top tier but he was already top 75 with his play before the win last night. The backlash to Nick was he wasnt even giving Jokic THAT before this playoff run.
The 2nd mvp was undeserved leading a 6 seed, but earning a title was a big step
The problem before these playoffs was Jokic was given too much credit that he didn’t yet deserve. Nick, and myself, simply held him to the standard of a Giannis, or a Steph, or young Lebron. Before this he never led a team to a Finals, so he didn’t deserve a 2nd, and definitely not a 3rd mvp.
@@k_hack9441You do understand that winning a championship is a team accomplishment not an individual accomplishment and that the MVP is a regular season award right?
@@stephaniechaffin1154 you almost got it right. An mvp for a multi-award winner is NOT just a regular season award. This is what Jokic fans couldn’t understand. If you’re a multi award guy going for more, playoffs absolutely matter. It’s why Giannis got dinged after the early loss in 2020. The problem with Jokic fans and nba writers was they didn’t hold Jokic to the same standards as Giannis was held to until me and others called them out.
@@k_hack9441 Sorry but it sounds like you're repeating the narrative that doesn't make sense. MVP is a regular season award, period. If a player has a historically great season, better than the previous one (where he was the MVP) and cause of his gameplay his team is doing way better (albeit this time with two regulars in the rotation) how is that not again an MVP? You could argue that not getting out of the 1st/2nd round PO makes him "unworthy" of all time caliber type of player, but it doesn't have to do anything with the accomplishments that led to that point.
It literally takes 4 minutes for them to go from Nuggets and Jokic to talking about a guy who hasn’t played in… 4 months? I think?
Always good to see Nick eat his words
No words were eaten. He held Jokic to the standard of Giannis and others all year.
@@k_hack9441He didn’t call Giannis the worst MVP in the history of the league. Nick never liked Jokic, he’s just forced to respect him now because of his dominance
He's used to it!
I hate Nick, but asking Jokic to perform well/win in the Finals was a completely reasonable ask.
Get real, buddy.
@@k_hack9441 no word were eaten?... so you basically agree with NICK'S WORDS that jokic is the worst mvp of all time?
These two just solved their own Lebum goat obsession in the first two mins.... 😂
Not a huge Joker fan but this dominant playoff run has brought me around. He is top 25 all time already and I think they can repeat and MAYBE go for 3 peat.
Congratulations to Nuggets organization and Serbia!
He's top 10.
Nick “Worst MVP in 50 years” Wright
When he won it as a 6 seed and nobody expected him to do anything in the playoffs there is a very good argument for that being the worst MVP right next to Russ’ 6 seed MVP. That’s a pretty objective take to have. The two lowest seeded MVPs ever are arguably the two worst MVPs ever given out
@@conlanchastain3708 Teams are seeded, not players in this case.
@@GoranRadic sure, but literally all of NBA history (or more accurately, since media began voting for the award) has shown that the award goes to a guy on a top 3 seed. I think it’s fair to look at the only 2 times it has ever gone differently and ask if those guys really deserved the award that season. Historical precedents absolutely do matter
MVP should be most valuable player for a teams success. Not who's the best player or who's history/legacy blah blah.
@@zap7759 MVP is the most valuable player for team contribution, not success.
"all teams did for 30 yrs. was trying to stop Lebron" as if Lebron won more than the spurs, warriors and other team that he faced in the finals
That is basically what happened for 10-12 years. It's well known that the Warriors put that team together with KD because of LeBron. The Celtics with KG and Ray Allen, likely because of LeBron.
@@ronshd7769 I dont think those teams did it because of lebron.. Celtics got kg from the timberwolves as it was a good deal and they needed another star to benefit Pierce, yeah lebrons young cavs made the finals that year but I doubt the move was because of them in general. KD before leaving okc didn't like his team as shown by his burners, and there was rumors of him going to golden state before they lost to them. @K_Hack that's a dumb take. He deserved mvp and it wasn't a easy path to a championship. Infact they were underdogs in all the matches until the finals. 3 yrs from now thatbwont be a narrative at long because then you have to judge every championship run and I guarantee you the greats had "easy" runs as well.
“The worst mvp” . I seems Nick never told this BS.
As a Chiefs fan, I'd say Mahomes has had the luxury of one of the best TE's in history. Dominance at that position creates so many problems for a defense. Would Mahomes win a SB without Kelce? We'll see someday. Hopefully not soon.
Colin casually floating the idea that MacGregor is potentially the greatest UFC fighter of all time.. you can tell which sports he doesn't follow closely (ie: all of them except football)

Nick Wright is like, I'll come on your show to talk nuggets, only if I get to talk about mahomes for no reason
Not arguing Burrow vs Mahomes but one was dropped in dysfunction and changed everything. The other had a top 3 coach, top 3 TE, top 10 WR and sat a year. 👀 Just saying
Burrow with mahomes O-line would be horrifying...
Mahomes with the Bengals wide receivers would be catastrophic!

They talk about raptors adding Leonard and that’s it
They added danny green which played a ton of minutes.
They traded for gasol which played major minutes.
And traded for serge which also played major minutes.
When a team plays 8 players in the playoffs and half of them got traded for, it wasn’t just trading for Leonard.
Excellent point. We forget all the smaller moves.
Yeah, and they ignore the Celtics super team with KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. Worked for them, won a title, came real close to a second, and could’ve made a run at 1 or 2 more if not for the Heatles. Super teams prob work just as high a percentage as building through development; most teams building developmentally don’t win titles either, we just don’t talk about it cuz they don’t have the big headline generating trades and superstar personalities/decisions to analyze forever
@@will4486 Celtics could have had a 3peat if not for kg injury but they were washed by the time lebron went to Miami

*PATRICK DUNGWONGHOMES IS THE WORST QB IN NFL AND HAS ZERO RINGS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SYRIAN EARTHQUAKE AND WILL FINISH 0-17 THIS SEASON*
The refs didn't KO the Eagles, Bradberry did. He was gonna get torched on the same play that the Eagles allowed 2 touchdowns on the Chief's previous 2 drives, so he grabbed Juju's jersey when he should've did anything but. Eagles would've got the ball back with plenty of time to score a td and go for the win with a virtually unstoppable 2 point play. Both Colin and Nick doubted Denver all season and now here we are. You love to see it 😂. I will say, Colin has refrained from giving Denver takes since that Lakers series and its funny to see him excited about the Nuggets winning it all.
Nick isn’t wrong about winning a ring elevating you to another tier in the NBA, but he’s also glossing over how he called Jokic “the worst MVP in 30 years” 2 years ago. 4:10. The players that made the big plays late in the Nuggets Game 5 win was Brown (on the putback of the Murray miss) and KCP both defensively to get the steal on Butler and to make the big 3 and the big free throws during crunch time. That's not to take anything away from Joker. The point is that Joker's legacy as an all-time great, in Nick's eyes, comes down to whether the other players on his team make the plays they are supposed to make.
The position that Jokic only became an all-time great last night is beyond dumb.
It’s super funny that he has landed in such a stupid spot just to support his past hate for Jokic.
How many guys have two MVPs and a finals MVP? He's an all time great.
He's dealing with the Mahomes syndrome. He's dominating so intensely and so fast and it looks effortless. He just has to maintain and not run into the Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway health issues.
First thing they talk about after the Nuggets win the Finals….LeBron!!! lol
If we ever get a Gianni’s VS Jokic finals it would be so much fun.
No one thinks Mcgregor is the best of all time lol Colin is such a casual sports fan
Nick underplays his jokic criticism to such a frustrating degree. He called him the worst MVP in 35 years. He dogged his lack of playoff success in support of an embiid mvp. Embiid was Less successful in the playoffs before and after this run. The cherry on top is his asinine all time ranking of Luka with none of the energy he has for jokic with half the accomplishments before and after this championship.
What Nick actually meant was... "Joel Embiid's" have existed forever.
Super team model worked with the celtics KG, Paul pierce and Rondo
Ok. The problem with the opening argument by both Colin and Nick is that LeBron is the one that started mobility and made it a thing. Before him players didn’t really do it. and outside of Bron, the only people/stars that have done it since LeBron have been KD (it worked), KD again (failure but they all got injured and everything that could go wrong did go wrong and they were STILL a KD foot size away from being in the finals and winning it), Kawhi did it (but injuries again) and that’s really it. It’s not as if we have a bunch of guys teaming up, every other year. The opportunities for it to happen are slim and I’d argue that they do work and are faster results the only issue is high risk, high reward type of thing.
Ain’t nothing better to sticking it to Wrong and Poo Perkins after Jokic proved everyone wrong 3 yrs running all without a superstar

Sometimes I watch Nick Wright when I have a hard time taking a dump
I agree with most of what was said here, but while others are pointing out Nick being wrong before, just a note from an MMA fan about what Colin said: almost no one considers Conor the greatest fighter ever. He didn’t defend his titles. The overall point was correct; if Conor never won a title, he wouldn’t have been a star on the same level. He’d still be popular, but he wouldn’t be the super megastar that fought Floyd mayweather, if he wasn’t knocking guys out. That victory over Aldo was massive. He’s the biggest MMA star ever, but no one thinks he’s greater than Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, or in fact Khabib.
Nick was touting luka as an all time great and one of the best players ever before he won anything
Nick thought lakers would beat Denver don’t let him get away with it
He’s still denying that he’s been in Embiids camp the completely over Jokic these last 2-3 years.
Mvp is a regular season award…. It has nothing to do with anything other than that current season
Yeah one little thing, Gronk was absolutely a number 1 target and paved the way for modern TEs. He literally scored 18 TDs in a season, how is that not the number 1 option on your team LOL
Also Colin should recognize jokic as a game changer the same way he praises Steph for altering the game. The center will never be the same. Love this show btw
So before three ball era 10 assists equaled 20 points but the tree ball era 10 assists can equal 24 points. I have no idea how Colin came up with that number.
Jokic is way ahead of anybody rn idk how you can say he's not the best player in the world he breezed through the playoffs
I forgot barely scoring in a superbowl! That was manning like
Everybody kept saying that Nikola jokic has to prove that he's a two-time MVP and now he wins the championship if you would have won that third MVP
As a life-long Nugz fan, I cannot disagree with Nick. Jokic HAD to win a championship to be considered an all-time great. Being an "all-time great" pushes The Joker into the top 20-25 in NBA history; basically, one of the GOATs.
