    Everything you mention about the vehicle like the shifter, door handles, styling etc is spot on. It's also the most complained items about the car and I really don't see why. I've driven this and other newer lexus models and I agree with you 💯 , there amazing features that simplify your driving habits. This looks like nothing else on the road in a very good way. I think 🤔 a lot of people just don't like change

    I love all Lexus ❤. The 500H I adore

  • @james0321
    @james0321 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I was hoping to upgrade from a 2011 RX 350 to a 2023 RX, but was incredibly disappointed with the 350H power train. The 500h, however, was exhilarating. I was told an 18 month wait for the 500h in Australia. Because of that, I went to Genesis to test drive the GV70 instead (both 2.5 and 3.5). Genesis is nowhere near the same level as Lexus and anyone who tells you it is via TH-cam reviews is not being honest with themselves or their viewers. I went straight from the Genesis dealership back to Lexus and luckily for me, someone's finance fell through for a 500h and I jumped at the opportunity. Absolutely love my 500h! White exterior, red interior. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but absolutely love it now that I've seen it in person and wouldn't change it for anything else.
    Things I love:
    1. Compared to my 2011 RX, the suspension is like driving on a cloud. It was already great on the 2011, but such a huge improvement to the 2023. Smooth and comfortable.
    2. The drive assist features (combination of adaptive cruise + lane assist) is fantastic. Really reduces drive fatigue on the long commutes to work.
    3. The rear wheels turning definitely makes a big difference to cornering. Never would have expected an RX to corner so well. Turning circles in car parks are also fantastic.
    4. The infotainment system is second to none IMO. Everything I had dreamed for Lexus to do.
    5. The seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in. Both front and rear are extremely comfortable.
    My only criticisms are the following:
    1. The engine is too loud at idle. I would have expected a hybrid to be relatively silent on vehicle start up, with the petrol engine only turning on when needed much like the ES hybrid.
    2. The capacitive buttons on the steering wheel are very annoying. If you press a button quickly, it does not register. You have to hover your finger over it for a second, wait for it to appear on your HUD, then press. Wish it registered your fast button presses.
    3. I wish the HUD showed navigation for your route. Not really a criticism per say, but a wish!
    4. I hate the door operations, particularly on the interior. It's pretty annoying to have to explain how to operate it to all new passengers.
    5. The self parking is so slow that it is essentially useless. If you tried using it with anyone waiting behind you, you'd be the victim of some road rage for sure 😅I have no idea why it operates so slowly.
    I'm sure I'll have my 500h for many years to come! Love it.

      What a story thanks for sharing this James! Completely agree with all your positive points! I also noticed it was louder than I expected for a hybrid plus agreed on the self-parking. I have to say thank you for that honest Genesis review, people really believe that it's much better than its competition. I admit it's a great car but it's still has a long way to go. Reliability is and quality is priceless. Judging from Hyundai reputation, it's going to be a while.

    • @james0321
      @james0321 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@omendarklight1526 I wanted to like Genesis, I really did. I was almost completely sold on it after watching dozens and dozens of reviews. It all unravelled on the test drive. Nowhere near the same level as Lexus! I hope they can compete, as competition is healthy for the car market, but they've certainly got a long way to go!

      @@carswithsonduren don't get me wrong bud. This "IS" the car I am purchasing right down to the colour combo in this video.... except I'm going for the F-sport 3 pkg.... I need my ML sound. I'm a Lexus/Toyota guy 100% but I have also driven Audi, BMW and MB and all 3 have far superior infotainment/nav setups than Lexus. I will say that the 2023 RX's are 100% better than the previous gen but still nowhere near the Europeans. We currently have a 2022 RX which we bought after selling our Genesis GV80 Prestige (I don't recommend Genesis at all!) and the ride is still excellent a year later. This 500H has the upgrade in performance I want, very decent mileage for the power and the 2 biggest deciding factors between this and other hybrids.... a spare tire and a non-cvt transmission! I think Lexus hit a home-run with the combo on the RX500H F-Sport (aside from being priced a tad high). I only wish it was a 6 cylinder hybrid and I wish the exterior aesthetics were more pleasing. IMO the Europeans and the MDX are all far more attractive externally.

    What do you think of the new vehicle weight tax on the books to pay for roads? Personally I’m for it. The Tesla cybertruck is almost 10,000 lbs. Anybody who buys it should pay a $2,000 road tax at time of purchase.

    The top model is overpriced. The RX is more expensive as the GX and is encroaching on the LX, which you could buy for $90,000 not too long ago. This is a 5 seat SUV - no V6 - the turbo hybrid should be the standard engine across the lineup. The other two, especially the Atkinson hybrid, are underpowered.
