    As a buyer of a 500h, I can say I would not have considered a lesser trim. I hope Lexus makes an actual F, but for now I’m enjoying my 500h, it’s a nice balance of everything and finally it has a little excitement for buyers like me.

      Everything except performance... the engine is still pretty weak. I mean 5.9 second 0-60 is like an Accord with a V6, can't really call it performance oriented can you? Look at competition performances, all mid/high tiers will leave the RX 500h in dust.
      With that said, yes, Lexus is going to be most reliable, no questions asked. Not hating on Lexus at all, just laying out the facts

  • @rightlanehog3151
    @rightlanehog3151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +65

    Alex, With the V6 gone it seems to me the RX 350h will be the most 'traditional' and popular RX of the bunch. With a naturally aspirated engine, proven nickel metal hydride battery and a spare tire the 350h is like gourmet caliber comfort food. In a world full of unpleasant surprises, many Lexus buyers will be looking for soothing familiarity. I think the Canadian assembly workers putting it together will be kept busy😉

      Yeah I am waiting for the new RX350H price so I can compare it with the NX350H. Most likely the price difference of at least $10K+ will sway my wife to go with the smaller NX. Personally I like the bigger RX but my wife likes a smaller SUV.

    My guess is the 350h will become the volume seller. I bought my 1st hybrid about 2 years ago and it's just a very relaxing enjoyable experience to have the engine off while coasting, braking, and especially while stopped and the AC keeps going. Plus, like Alex said you don't have to do anything different, no plugging in, just pay less per fill up. I also like the idea of the 500h that trades efficiency for performance, but I'd get the 350h in red ❤❤

    The dilemma you pose in the title of your presentation is exactly what I am currently facing. As I plan to replace my current RX450h I am thinking that I need to get the 450h+ because although I am not a candidate for an all-electric vehicle, I think that might be a good fit for me. I feel that I don't want to give up the power of my current RX450h for the less horsepower 350h , even though I want that fuel efficiency. plenty of families can use a crossover that only has a 2nd row,
      a 3rd row is really only useful if you have more than 2 kids.
      for a family of 4 a 2nd row is plenty, but a family of 5 or 6, that's where a 3rd row
      is needed. but to your other point, yes that's true not all of us have kids,
      but that last part is rare. most people do, but it doesn't always go
      that way for people. im 38 with no kids, not that i wouldn't want
      any, i just never been with a woman long enough for that to happen.

Maybe on paper they beat the old big engine engineering but in terms of comfort they far far beyond. Constant gear changing with slightest touch of the gas pedal they shuffling gears back and forth back and forth. I recent got 2002 Grand Cherokee 4.7 with only FOUR gear transmission and honestly this is HEAVEN power all the time under my foot, no gear changing always there. Yes, yes i know fuel economy this and that and i AGREE but AGAIN in terms of comfort you CAN NOT beat that! Lexus was the only one with their amazing 3.5L V6 and look what they done too. Lousy 4 CYLINDER woow. Back nin the days you were buing lexury car for their LUXURY and PERFORMANCE now i honestly don't know what distinguishes LUXURY brand from top trim for example hudna. You can always get the GX460 with its old school v8 and body on frame that is great for off-road driving. Full-time 4wd and a real 6 speed. My plan was to get a 2023 GX460, but due to a car accident and being a double amputee, RX was a better and more practical option for me. Would love if they still used V6's over turbocharged I4s, but the governments of the world made it hard to do so. The GX will be the last V8 from Toyota/Lexus sadly as they go to a turbocharged V6 like in the Sequoia and new 4Runner. They wanted 8k more for a Grand Cherokee 4xe with similar trim to my RX500H F-sport performance. Plus, most dealers wanted a markup on Grand Cherokee hybrids, and that equaled to 10k to 12k more after taxes. That isn't even feasible to me but is to a lot other buyers and don't mind that massive depreciation 2 feet after pulling off the lot.

    Not sure what is going on in the Toyota design department, but good grief they are pumping out some shockingly ugly cars. All the weird bulges and fake vents are so tacky, and they’ve somehow managed to make the spindle grill look even worse.
    NiMh batteries have substantially less power output ability than a lithium battery, even if they have the same energy capacity. Given the small size and nimh chemistry of these batteries, they aren’t going to be able to send too much actual HP to the rear motor unless they really run the ICE and under hood motor/generator to generate the electricity to do so, but that’s a pretty inefficient way to send power to the rear wheels.
