  • Beginner level turning with an oval skew. Simple handles with no embellishments, just pretty wood for practical use.
    Black walnut, mulberry, and Eastern Red Cedar are what I used, but I only show one of the latter to completion. I do show the wood before and all of the finished products.

    Using a hand-made wooden-handled utensil adds an extra pleasure to the usage. Over time, the handles become imbued with the cook's DNA and develop a unique smoothing and wearing, and a patina that cannot be achieved with plastic. When I use my grandmother's wooden rolling pin, it carries an echo of the all the pies and pastries made by her loving hands.

    Good morning, Patriot.
    It is good to see our flag displayed at morning light. The sun did amazing things to the image. 🇺🇲
    The turnings show the wood's beauty and gives satisfaction as it becomes a useful item. I enjoyed every moment of this 8 minute video. It was worth the wait.
    Interesting scripture, hope others look it up. Their unity in Christ was greater than anything that would divide them.
    All the best to you.

      What also amazes me is how Paul gives the answer in this scripture to the question in his last days in prison.
      Paul asked God why was he still here and not been put to death. God answered So others can see your Joy,

    These are the kind of projects I will need to start turning. Thank you for sharing a beginners project! Also, I certainly agree with your Food for Thought. Thank you! A question: you know I echo your Semper Fi as a tribute to your service, right? Just as I have adopted Can Do to honor my husband’s SeaBee service. I read on FB that a non Marine is NEVER to say Semper Fi to a Marine. Have I been doing something wrong? God bless.

    • @RHumphrey
      @RHumphrey  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ellen, whomever wrote that on FB is not correct. Marines say it to each other of course, it's our motto, but I've never been offended nor should anyone else be, if a non-Marine says those words to us, as long as it's not in a way that implies they were a Marine when they weren't. That would be the only problem I could imagine. I appreciate you and everyone else here that says it to me. Thanks very much, these were a fun turn!
