- This is a first ride review of the Scram411, just to see how it handles the dirt and compares to the Himalayan.
The bike has been added to the fleet of bikes for people to ride (mainly on road) including Honda CRF300 Rally, KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, Honda CB500X with Rally Raid kit. You can also ride it back to back with the full range of Royal Enfields.

Recently bought one, close 2000kms done in two months! Mostly city rides, and once a long ride of 350kms stretch, this bike is stable on highways and love how i can go over bumpy roads without downshifting much. This one is a keeper for me!
Such an honest approach is refreshing in these times where reviews are so often biased by a need for access to the next bike. We value your independent view. Are you able to advise when you might have an update on the TEC Cam?, many of us are hanging on your every word.
Nice review, thanks👍
300 miles so far on my new Scram and I have enjoyed every moment 😊
Great little bike, no regrets👍
Damn, production value has picked up!
Loved the new editing format!
Cool bike & a good review as always.
The video production is in a new league!
Well to you and the camera folks
looks like a fun bike.
really like the video editing and production, very good.
keep making them and reviewing the bikes
Love the music choice! Cracking video as ever! Really like the video and camera quality, cracking!
Great bike and have to say top quality on the editing and music on this vlog 👍🏽
Ohhh, liking the new presentation style, very professional. I like the look of the Scram so it will be really interesting to see a real life, longer term review.
I just got one of these on a trade plus cash deal for my 3 year old interceptor. my first impressions are excellent suspension, extremely comfortable seat, easy to flick around on moderate dirt roads/trails, and a pretty good road feel in corners at the kind of speeds it is intended to ride. Grossly underpowered for highway use, but I really enjoy it, and find myself wanting to take it out for a spin every day.
Ah! FInally a *real* off road test at 1:30, 1:50 & 4:40 ! Most people run over a bit of gravel and call it a day. You completely answered my questions. Thanks!
I swapped out the tracker for a rev counter from Hitchcocks. Easy to fit and works well. Great down to earth review as always!
Bloody brilliant video. Nice to see you making quality stuff. Always thought you were a great ambassador for motorcycling. I really hope you can focus on trying to make more stuff like this, this for me beats the bigger channels you just can't beat your style
Definitely the best review on YT for anyone thinking of getting a Scram for light off roading/greenlaning. Good job Nathan.
Oooh, not quite the usual video standard, which i always thought was a refreshing change from some "quality" productions. Nice update.
Great production, liking the video quality.
Nice one Nathan. Like the video and production on this one. Some cracking lanes up there in North Devon. I was over at Union Road Moto Velo the other weekend, popped in for a coffee and checked it out.
Planning on getting one when they make it to the states. I mainly commute but like to go offroad on the weekends, seems like a good balance and its has that sexy retro style.
Very cool Nathan enjoyed the Cinematography :) reminds me a bit of a WD bike from the 40s.
The best review I have seen, which is good as I am having a test ride tomorrow prior to buying one.🙂
Wow... love the new video style Nathan. Very professional and must have taken a fair bit of work. Ride safe 👍🇬🇧
Very thorough and informative review!! With one note: this is not a product, even a good one. When something creates experiences and evokes emotions, it deserves a fairer description.
Great video. The Scram could do well. Certainly more Hip than the Himalayan. Should have called it the Hipalayan.
Excellent production values and a gorgeous location. Usual no-nonsense review, keep up the good work.
That's about the hardest I've see someone ride a 411 off road, brilliant 😁
Great review, I can see that the Scram has its place. I'm still in love with my '18 Himalayan, favorite bike in my fleet. As I (continue to) tell everyone that asks, "it's made for what I do".
I was excited seeing your Scram in the speedshop and now even more excited to be getting mine next week. I am so going to have to learn more about off roading to ride it as smoothly as you can :-)
Video quality is on the next level Nathan. That's brilliant. And good to hear your opinion about that bike. Talking about that abs - it will be really simple mod to put an on/off switch in line after or before that fuse.
Just subbed, no BS review and some really good info from an all round rider’s perspective. Underpin this with a range of good action video clips and I’m impressed. I’ll be back for more…… thanks.
THANKS, THIS IS THE BEST SRAM REVIEW I HAVE SEEN SO FAR, SO YES I AM GOING TO PICK ONE UP TOMORROW AND TAKE IT OFF ROAD
An honest and brilliant review! As always.
Nathan: I am very much looking forward to the SCRAM 440 -- though I don't know if it will make it to the US -- as it appears to have addressed quite a bit. I've poured over all the introductory vids, and nothing more, yet, is available as to reviews. ABS on / off switch; reinforced rack-ready subframe; centerstand (at least on the Motoverse bikes); option for tubeless/cast wheels. I hope you're able to review it, in the UK, when it gets there!
FAR and away, the most useful Review, I've seen - especially OFF-road. You've exceeded your competitors (who don't look comfortable off-road). Many THANKS!
Great video Nathan, very balanced and honest review. Big step up in production values and editing etc.
You've upped your game- really good.
Very much like the look of the Scram. RE have done a good job there.
Fantastic review, good bike!
Has anyone else noticed the Union Flag upside down…… just saying!
Excellent video Nathan. This format presentation works well. Thanks for the review. Mmmmh not sure about this bike.
Lovely video, managed to test a Himalayan a week ago. For me 2 miles was enough and I took it back, a bit too raw for my tastes but the suspension was a surprise and a nice riding position.
Raw? What do you mean by that.
Awesome review love the new approach and cinematics cracking bike cheers 👍🏻
Love the upgrade in production value of the video man! winning recipe!
Great first impression, handling and performance increase by dropping the extra weight is something many people are doing. My Himalayan is 99% road and 1% off road (rode over my yard). I have considered dropping the weight as the center stand is not as useful when it makes it back to the garage every night. The gages moving with the bike brings back a yesterday feel, only adds to the appeal for me.
picking one up this week you convinced me with this vid best bang for the buck hands down 🤙
The bike I always would have turned the himalayan into if I'd kept it. Def getting one of these. Yellow somehow seems to suit it best.
Excellent review, excellent production quality!
Nice production sir!
Great and informative first ride video. Looks like another great bike from the RE stable. Seriously interested in road testing one of these. Had a Himalayan previously but like the look of the scram as to me it looks a bit more mainstream than the Himmy. I imagine it's also probably the better option if most of your riding is on tarmac and I assume that the RE metal box panniers will be available to fit for touring. If the new seat is comfortable that will be another major plus point.I think it will be a tough choice between the new Classic 350, Meteor 350 and the Scram but suspect that the additional CC's in the Scram would make it a more practical proposition for long distance touring and generally keeping up with modern day traffic.
Just the video I’ve been looking for to make my mind up thanks good informed vid
Great first ride review Nathan. I like the look of the Scram and it's good to see you giving it some off road.
Great review and the production is really good. Liking it, good stuff Nathan. One small thing, your Union Flag is flying upside down.
Ha. I'll let the campsite owner know!
Top stuff. Great production. Kind of motorcycle content we want to see. Seen so much about the Scram, not sure I could ever get that excited about a 20bhp single but maybe a ride on one will change my mind.
Just so you know, the center stand IS available on the Scram, but it's an option; it's not standard like it is on the Himalayan. I, for one, would choose that option! A center stand makes life so much easier with a chain driven bike.
As for the Scram itself, the 19" wheel gives it better handling on the street; turn-in is supposed to be better. The lack of a 21" wheel will really show itself when clearing obstacles. SO! I think that the Scram can indeed scramble... :)
Cool slightly retro style presentation. You can tell you've employed a pro but retained control of how it looks. You're a good bloke Nathan, people know that they can trust what you say. I look forward to visiting the Speed Shop soon, maybe for a Royal Enfield test day?
Congrats for this review, the most interesting and original I’ve seen about this bike :-)
Really good presentation. Since my riding is 70-30 road biased, I'm convinced. Also going to wait for the Scram 450 next year with slightly better bhp/torque. The 450 will get a lighter composite frame and all accessories too.
Yeah and me but to try pick up older himmy cheap
Great video, informative, interesting and great production. On a side note , can you have a word with whoever is responsible for the flag in the opening scene, and ask them to fly it the correct way up ?? 🇬🇧 cheers mate , keep up the great work 👍
Great video. Just getting into off-road or ADV riding. Actually looking at one of these for my wife so we can ride together.
Thanks Nathan. Good to see the Scram handles off roading pretty well. Yep, the Union Flag needs flipping - it's upside down!
Excellent video sir!
I think the Himalayan is the better one for me, given what you lose for the same money. Was thinking of waiting for a 650 version but that’s a whole different bike altogether! And Enfield aren’t saying when that’ll be!
Bringing out a 450 himmi next year anyways
They are not bringing 650 Himalayan cause the engine will make it already heavy bike in to too heavy for it's class.
So RE are doing 450 cc liquid cooled 30 to 45 bhp 35 to 50 nm of torque.
It's in testing phase with prototype so may take a year or two for it to release.
@@viswasrujith8426 sounds a great idea. Thanks 👍
Def a jack of all trades! Think am still going for classic.
All it needs is a high mount scrambler style exhaust and it’s a perfect little play thing.
Thanks for this Nathan, I was interested to hear whether or not the Scram's off-road ability was too compromised by the more street-biased geometry. This video supplied the answer and I know you know what you are talking about with these things, whereas I am just taking my first steps into off-road exploring.
I am looking for a bike for exploring trails and of course was looking at the Himalayan but actually the Scram appeals more to my taste visually and also the saddle is supposedly better than the one that comes with the Himalayan. So probably I could buy the Scram and not have to change anything on it right away. Obviously the tyres are probably not ideal for extreme off-road conditions, but I won't be riding in the mud or anything too tricky, I can choose when to ride and when to stay at home, the trails are all local. so I don't see that as a deal-breaker for me.
It sounds as though, for exploring dirt and gravel trails, close to where I live, the Scram could do it out of the box.
So well done, now I want one......the trick is how to pay for it 🤔 ?
Cheers, a very "helpful" video 😉
ER.
Sounds like a cool adaptation on the himilayan platform
4k! Nice editing. Nice music. Very nice video... And great review of the bike Nathan. Is this a permanent change going forward or another style to complement your more personal pick-up-the-camera-and-record type videos?
Thanks mandem. I'll do a bit of both. I've just had opportunity to team up with a local guy who's super talented and passionate about vehicles so we're going to make a few Vids and see how we go
@@nathanthepostman that sounds excellent. All the best and I'll keep my eye out for future videos 😀
Thanks for the review
Looks like good fun. At £100 less than the Himalayan it initially seems like a bargain but when you consider all the parts it's missing I think it should have been cheaper still. No tacho, no centre stand, no rear ABS switch, no rear rack, no front racks, no screen......
Yeah I think the initial price I heard was around £4200 but it's jumped a bit on launch. To be fair there's some crazy price increases for shipping services and with all other associated costs going up I wouldn't be surprised if all bikes go up a good notch or two. CRF300L just jumped £500 for example.
Really good vid, saw so many and skiped so many because all they did was talk and never showed the bike actually riding. So 👍
I live just a few miles from my Royal Enfield dealership. S.E. MI. I like it and I'm going to test ride this bike. Do they come in Red/Silver? I'm 60yrs, lifetime rider, and R-E is building some really cool motorcycles! (I think it's worth swapping my "07" Sportster for...) Thanks for sharing, J.
Fundamentally a good video
Very nice review good sir. I like my Himmy, and I know I would like this bike as well.
The suspension is actually stiffer. That's why the bike isn't bottoming out as much as the Himalayan. I did a back to back ride in the scram and Himalayan and the scram definitely felt a bit stiffer and more direct. The reduction in weight also helps.
The Achilles heel of the scram/him still are the brakes and the build quality. The service centre experience doesn't help much too. Also in India, this is on the pricier side. A very good bike nonetheless
very very nice; thank you!!
Think I will wait to see if there are any issues
To many bad memories from the trip to Morocco on the Himalayan
What happened?
Thanks for taking it off road
What is the music that starts at 0:15? Very nice. And good review.
Looks good to me. More suited to the majority of riding you'd probably be doing on a bike like that in the Uk.
Very swish production quality of this video, I still liked your trademark no nonsense talking to the camera of previous videos as well 😉
Great review 👍
All up I prefer to get the Himalayan and keep the bits they Scrammed of for the new bike.
Great video. Love all your work. Will the bench seat from the Scram work on the Himalayan? Would love an alternate seat option.
Nathan, do you think you could install the clocks and headlight (front end) of the scam onto the Himalayan, then have the scam look with the benefits of the rack etc?
Watch you back young man, none of us is getting any younger.
Also, who, pray, is Dorothy?
Dorothy is the Honda Postie bike that Nathan rode back to the UK from Australia, amongst many other rides.
Think of her as Nathan's other wife 😉
Best bike ever
I call it my pet donkey. Just keeps pulling all day.
Nice bike, but it won't be replacing my 390 Duke. But if it was a 511cc engine, the two-valve head would appeal with its extra low-down torque. I'd consider getting one then.
Nicely done ...
Like the new presentation / style. 👍 A couple of things, are the lugs / mounts there to retrofit a centre stand and did you notice (I know it’s very early days!) the lower weight at all? Many thanks!
Thanks bikingchap. Yeah I'm confident without double checking that you could fit a centre stand no problems and I should have mentioned it in the video but yes I think you can detect a slight bit of weight reduction, certainly up high what with the rear rack and tank bars being removed.
Did you get more miles on it? I would really be interested whether you have any kind of a follow-up. The 411 Himalayan is being discontinued, while the Scram is still in production - so it may get more 'spotlight' from those that would otherwise would pick the 411 Himalayan (in spite of the 450 being already available).
Fix the abs by switching off the rear wheel speed sensor (unplug it)
Would be interested to know if you can put that new seat on a Himalayan? Not a fan of my Himy seat, would love a little more space to move back a bit.
Unfortunately not. The locking pin is in the wrong place but you could maybe refit the locking mechanism if you were committed
i order one today !
the upcoming 450 would be a great upgrade for those who want more power
The Scram has a new Engine Map compaired to the Hymilain.
Nice review. Question is, should one wait for the new 450 model coming next year?
Some good action footage there Nathan, Royal Enfield would benefit from using that in their advertising!👍👍
Nice video Nathan. Does the throttle feel different on the Scram? Less of a turn to reach wide open throttle?
Not sure. Still running it in so no full throttle. It doesn't feel any different tho
can it pop a wheelie?
Wow
i like the aesthetics... i bought one. :)
