I really like Laura's tests, they're honest and straightforward without any macho bits. She says that the bike a bit tall, it depends on the rider some might consider it small. It would have been nice to have been told the actual mpg and not just a statement that it was good. Well done.
I'm with you, my inside leg for jeans etc is only 27" and I'm a male, much older than yourself who Always finds these modern bikes too high..All the Best and safe riding..
The Scram, is what it is... Its a plodder that likes the rider to absorb their surroundings. I bought one last year and I'm planning my trips around the Lakes this summer - Its Perfect for Hardknott Pass..
@@ferchu9636 I would recommend the scram for a daily rider and a weekend jaunt somewhere. It lacks power to overtake at normal riding speeds BUT that's the beauty and the essence of the bike. The components are still holding up 2 years on.
I think it's mainly for people who find the power enough and just like the look. It just appeals to those who don't like transformer looking things. Maybe some off roading too without worrying about fairings or damaging some other expensive part. I used to have a DT125. I never went off road but i just liked the look of it and the riding position.
I could see this being a REALLY good grove bike/around town in the mountains. Occasional rutted dirt roads, lots of corners so you’re 15-60 mph almost constantly. Aircooled, so if you drop it, you aren’t busting up a radiator.
Just bought one. I'd say the difference to the regular Himalayan is mostly cosmetic details. I find the Himmy kind of ugly, whereas this was visually appealing. It's quite nimble and has nice torque. I find the brakes perfectly fine; don't know why everyone whines about them. The suspension is firm, but it's not harsh. Great value, and so much easier to manage than the Tiger 800 I had (though I do miss that triple engine!).
I've heard a lot of the complaints about the brakes are from people trying to go faster on the bike than it's made to do / exceed motorway speed limits.

I got my scram 3-4 months now. Bought mine for £3200 with 800 miles. My biggest problem was the headlight. Changed the bulb for philips citymoto. Changed the mirror for bar end one what was worth to do as well. Good for commuting.
Rode R1 s .zx9s .750s. The best 2 strokes ever built. This is a fantastic machine for what it's intended for. Back roads. 45 ..60 mph. Sounds boring. But give it a whirl. You may be surprised.
Top speed seems to be a struggle for Royal Enfield engines with 350 and 411 displacements. Even the INT650 can only go so fast. But at least it can maintain highway speed more comfortably. Lowering the seat height could help reach a wider demographic, I think.
This is a bike that unless you understand it, you are never going to like it. I'm into sports bikes but also have a scram. I enjoy both but to be fair I am rarely critical of the bikes I own. I just get on and ride the ruddy thing and enjoy it.
I bought one here in Colombia used with 2.2 kilometers. It’s been nothing but issues. I agree with the pegs being too short. The 5 speed gear box and tall gears are absolutely horrible in very steep mountains. I also get very bad speed wobble on corners past 80 KPH. Everything is tight and seems to be in order and I can’t figure it out. Read a review where they mentioned the same thing. The motor knocks hard when engine is under load.. very noticeable when climbing steep roads… also read this is common. Finding neutral is the worst I’ve ever experienced in all my 13 bikes.
That would be a shame since I am offered an as new one, I guess it is not a good idea to buy unwanted bikes eh. I was also considering a BMW G310GS but the seating height is so much nicer on the Scram.
The g310 is all around a much better bike but thats represented in the price. I would take the 310 all day but height isn't an issue with me since I'm at 5'11.@@wckoek
@@BluuSkyz I can get an almost new G310GS (facelifted version) a bit $1k more expensive than the RE, I guess that is worth the extra price. But it is a shame this new version have omitted switchable ABS but some say is more reliable. I am about the same height at this lady in the video.
I don't know your age or what you want in a motorcycle but out of all my motorcycles this was the least fun. It looks great and they're apparently super reliable but I've hada chinese bikes that I've ran into the ground just the same. If you just want to put around and don't care for acceleration or annoying noise I'm sure you'll be happy with it.@@wckoek
When the leg went over the seat at 4 mins I was worried for a second 😄 Being short of leg myself I always have the side stand down now after almost failing to get on a few times and nearly toppling over.
I stand on a foot peg then throw the leg over...and I switched which leg, due to severe degenerative disc disease. Lower right back so now I mount passenger side and throw the left leg over. Scram can be lowered as Charlie " Rest Day rider" showed us. (Or raised) 450 in the Fall. Lower 48 will see new 450 in 2024.
Whats the length of your inseam ? I'm 5'4'' and inseam of around 28.5 inch. I've got a comparatively short torso. Will I be able to ride it comfortably ?
Is it close. I'm still torn between the two. I just had the impression that the scram was quite a bit better acceleration and top end wise. I need to test ride both because I'm still wondering if the hunter quite has the go and up hill power I need.
@@letni9506 Its about 4 HP less but much lighter and low; you'd flat foot both sides I suspect. I've been riding for over fifty years and found the Himmy to be quite tall and unwieldy and because it was big, you expected it to go faster. The Hunter is tiny, really manoeuvrable and similar performance on the road. Neither are fast though. :)
Sorry to jump in this discussion, I've heard that the 350 (I am considering a Meteor along with the Scram) have more vibration at speed beyond 80kmh, smoothness would be a consideration for me. Would you still consider the 350 if it is the same price with Scram? I prefer the style and performance of Scram but the seating height of Meteor is so much nicer.
I weighed up what you get for your money ...Scram no centre stand less instrumentration but only £100 cheaper ....better off with the Himalayan more for your money

Himalayan? Ugly? Surprising
most people complain on brakes are mostly about ABS can't turn off like the Hymalayan.

you're dead right about the tyres. i wish i could drop the 411 engine into my 350 classic. mind u, J platform is fantastic!
Yes the 411 is more powerfull but when I tried my friend's classic. The 350 engine and gearbox is much more smoother.

If you get an opportunity, have a go on the little Hunter 350. It's almost the same performance but it's so little and light it's a total blast. :)
