How To Center Toyota-Lexus Steering Wheel Using Toyota Techstream | VGRS Calibration | Land Cruiser

- This process of centring the steering wheel, will work for any Toyota or Lexus car that is VGRS equipped. It is not limited to Land Cruiser or Lexus LX. All you will need is the correct Mini Vci cable and Toyota Techstream. Mini VCI cable version that I used in this video was version V15.00.028.
Newer version of Mini VCI cable is V18.00.008.
Mini VCI cable version V15.00.028 price on AliExpress is 11 USD. And version V18.00.008 is 17 USD.
This was tremendously helpful. I shared this video with a reputable Lexus/Toyota repair center, who initially thought about replacing the rack until I insisted that they look at this video. Well, what do you know? A several thousand dollar job just went to $70 for the tech to calibrate with the Techstream, but they did have to select for the Lexus LX 470. Apparently, the Land Cruiser comes up in the default field. Very helpful sir! Many thanks!

This process is valid only for, variable gear ratio steering (VGRS). Toyota introduced variable gear ratio steering in Land Cruiser and Lexus LX470 since 2003.
I changed my mass air flow sensor know the vgrs light is on and my steering is off real bad was this same issue you had

@@ninja23313 Try the method shown in this video. Keep in mind if your car’s VGRS computer has pending codes (error messages) then this method might not work.
To my knowledge those cars that came with VGRS in early 2003 some of those had defect from factory and Toyota replaced those faulty VGRS computers for free.
Hello thanks the check engine light is on but it’s from air vacuum the vgrs just came out of now where is that what u mean about pending codes

Yes. Not only GX470 but any Toyota or Lexus car that is VGRS equipped.
I just got my first LX a few days ago and noticed I’m having to keep the wheel turned slightly left for the vehicle to go straight. Is this a steering wheel issue or an alignment issue? Thanks for your videos I’ve been watching a bunch of them!
It's most likely aligment issue. It can also be old tires that has uneven tred pattern.

Greetings, thanks for this video. this only works for 2003 and up? I have a 2002 LX. Steering wheel keeps getting off center. Got it aligned a few times but keep getting off center every time i go offroad and have to deal with off camber stuff.
If your car steering has VGRS regardless of the year this method will work.

It will work for any Toyota or Lexus car that is VGRS equipped. If yours has VGRS steering, it will work.

Hi, do you have 1.4.1 or 2.0.4 version of Mini VCI ?
I purchased version V15.00.028 for 17 dollars 3 years ago from Aliexpress. But now most of the sellers on Aliexpress have upgraded their Mini VCI to V18.00.008.
This is what mine said Steering angle adjust failed dtc except c1515 / c1516 / c1532 c1568 are detected diagnose them prior to the steering angle adjust
Sorry buddy I can’t help you. Google those error codes and read on forms how people fixed that issue. As i have mentioned before that VGRS cannot be calibrated with pending codes.

Didn’t work for me. I did wheel alignment and now the steering is off center even after this process. I also have left wheel speed sensor error and the steering is also towards left. Not sure if they are related
If you have any pending codes, this method won't work. That means you need to sort out your ABS problem first.
Will this work for the LS 460 too?
Yes it will. If it has VGRS steering. The procedure is the same.
