For anyone who encounters “licence expired” issue do this. 1. Don’t follow set up where he changes region, leave it as it is. 2. Replace MainMenu.exe file in the install directory on C: with the one in extras folder on desktop. This will set the program expiration date for 3000 days. Changing region will render #2 invalid.
do i need to reinstall everything. I got up to part where it asks for license key and it says expired. i did however change the region from Afghan to New Zealand?? thanks for the help to everyone.
Your current setup seems slow because the default for this VM setup has got dinosaur parameters. Go to Settings->System->"Motherboard" & "Processor" tabs. Slide them as far right into the Green as possible. If you're running an older computer, you might want to cap your Base Memory at 4096MB (4GB). However, you can theoretically go higher, as long it's its not a large percentage of your actual machine's RAM. Assuming you have at least 16GB of RAM, you could probably safely use half of this, or 8GB. Do the same for "Display"->"Screen"->"Video Memory". If you notice your actual computer slowing down drastically while using VirtualBox, backoff on the RAM. Try to keep it to a power of 2 (eg. 2^12 = 4098).
I have a question for everyone who about programme of cars.....i have car scanner autel...i use this for offline DTC..i want to know how can i get any website or software to turn off or disabled p0101/p0456...like the way for those code the Check engine light never turn on again...i will pay for the software if anyone use this trick pls...help me with that....
@@shaon880 Hi, you mention you have an Autel scanner which model is it that gets you on to tecstream or does it scan toyotas in its own way? Ive just downloaded virtual box on my 4gb windows 10 laptop but when it comes to set up in box what GB and cpu do i enter? Seeing im only using this to get tecstream do you think 4 GB of ram will do?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I've wasted many hours trying other methods that you described to connect with a Win10 machine. Running under a virtual WinXP environment worked perfectly. The XP image loaded up with necessary software already installed. I just needed to plug in the cable and run Techstream.
Good stuff mate, I’m glad it has worked well for you like it has for others. Now Windows 10 can update all it wants and you will still have a working Techstream in you 32 bit virtual box. Go well mate😎👍
I had such a hard time trying to figure out how to get this to run with windows 10. You helped me a lot on this and allowed me to turn off my DRL lights that I needed to do since they were flickering. Also allowed me to turn on a few features i didn't know I had. Thank you for posting this.
@@JafffaAdventures Hi, Terry hope you can help me. here. My car is a Toyota Yaris I have a windows 8.1 32 bit system but i think i deleted the x86 program files on it by mistake in the past is that necassary? because on another y tube demo for a different tool for Toyota the complicted procedure showed these files being used or does Virtual Box over come any problems like that? If not would buying a new windows 8.1 download again fix this? any usful information would be good thanks
@gtibruce sorry mate, I’d love to help but it’s very difficult given I have not experienced the issue you describe. If it were me, I’d go with a fresh install of Windows and then download and execute as per my video. Good luck mate. Cheers👍😎
@@JafffaAdventures Hi just come across this question and answer from a tech forum reply and so as i read it seems i can save an new windows install and try your instructions when i get round to buying the tool. Perhaps thats why when you say a 32 bit system works best is because these program files are installed on 32 bit system by default Hope i can get back to you if i get stuck! here is the answer. Therefore you are running a 32 bit version of the Windows operating system. In essence, you don't need to install the program files (x86) folder, as your operating system is already equipped to run 32 bit applications. Your program files folder won't say program files (x86) because this is a folder installed on 64 bit operating systems only Therefore, your program files folder should only read program files.
Hello, I have tried this 12.00 version and didn't find my model of Corolla 2008 e140 D4D Diesel 1.4 which it's model to be 1ND-TV But techstream 12 shows only Z model, is there a possibility of having 1ND-TV model on techstream 14?
Excellent video. The hardest part for me was understanding the virtual box stuff, but I think I've got it now. There are so many different types of the mini VCI cable on Amazon, and I don't know which one to choose. Can you provide a link to the correct version? I have an older Lexus ES350, if that matters.
It's pretty straight forward if you follow the video instructions exactly. There are no hidden surprises. I don't know which cable I have as I bought it years and years ago. It's must be a mini VCI cable J2534 as per time stamp 1:07.
I followed your steps but when I went to start techstream within virtual box I got an error saying............... Failed to open a session for the virtual machine TechStream 12.20.024. Not in a hypervisor partition (HVP=0) (VERR_NEM_NOT_AVAILABLE). VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes (VERR_VMX_MSR_ALL_VMX_DISABLED). Question for anyone using this. Does your Model auto populate on connect? As it doesnt for me, and my model (Estima/Previa, and Hybrid as well) doesnt appear in the list
Just get an older laptop and install a 32bit edition of windows 10 , even can do on a 64 bit based computer, less complicated, still need cable drivers,no virtual machine needed
I have a question. When you downloaded the Techstream image, you went straight to the image and continued. Don’t you have to go into Oracle and select import and then select the Techstream image?
Hey man First of all, thanks for the video as it's really helpful I just picked up a 2008 Lexus LS460 and have a 2009 Lexus ES350. I want to add keys but am not sure whether any cable off of ebay or amazon would work as I know that the cables have different softwares or something. Please let me know so I know which cable to look for in order to maximize the software capabilities/customization Thanks!
I have used two different cables, both worked. It’s not the cable that trips people up, it’s the software recognising the cables. Enjoy your journey mate👍😎
Great video, I've followed all you instructions and have set up the virtual box successfully. Unfortunately the Techstream key has expired. Any suggestions how to get a new one..?
It surprises me that they key as expired as there is no time limit on it. The only thing I can suggest is reviewing the video and following it exactly, step by step. If that does not work, I don’t have an answer. Cheers
@@JafffaAdventures Yeah it has an OBD PORT and I already tried techstream 18 but it dosen't let you change settings of ECU so I'm willing to try the version 12 in your video, Thanks
Thanks for the great video Terry! I was very excited to find out this could be so easy. I did run into an issue that I am hoping you can help with. I live in the USA and when I install this whether I use the North America or the Global it doesn't seem to be working. I have a 2013 Toyota Prius II which should have a model code of ZVW30 which is not an option under the Global setting. Either way nothing auto populates when I have the system all connected. Maybe I have a bad Mini-VCI? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I’m glad you have things working to a point mate. Unfortunately, that’s where my knowledge base ends. I do not know why your model is not populating as it should. I would be suspecting the cable, but that’s only a guess. Good luck and let the broader community know if you find a solution so we can all learn. Cheers😎👍
An extra tip I had to get a new computer and get this pack installed but has an option on the computer BIOS setup which was disabled for running VM (Virtual Machine). I only switch this option to enable and done. Everything worked perfectly Thank you very much Sir
Thanks again i have another question plz: when u connect to the vehicle some fields will auto populate like model and others u have to choose manually how you confirm you have chosen the right one? For example iahve Lc200 GRJ vehicle spec Lc200, the last drop down is like other 0708-0808 ,0808-1008,1008-1208 etc what is this option?
I've tried 4 different versions of Techstream and this is the only one that allowed me to both read live data and write to the ECU. I used it to install new TPMS sensors in a Prius. Thanks for posting this.

Hi, in my toyota handbook it says you should not keep the ignition on for more than 10 minutes meaning without any special intervention like this so once you connect the tecstream device can you just turn the ignition key to auxillary or does the ignition have to be fully on and if so then does the device compensate for this or at least keep the vechicle running so the coil system does not overheat
@gtibruce I have a diesel so there is not coil to overheat in this application. The vehicle either needs to be running or in the on position, switching it to accessory shuts the power down to the OBDII port. Cheers👍😎
Thank you for yr very useful video, I followed yr steps works wonderfully, just wanted to add to the people like me with limited knowledge about computing (if u got newish computer u need download visual c++ 2019 version before downloading a virtualbox if u don't have one already other wise it won't download virtualbox) other than that all is very straightforward. Thanks again jafffa.
Well, I don't know how to start, you are the best men on TH-cam, follow every step you show on video and can TURN OFF MY DRL, you don't know how much I hate that. I contact a dealer and want to charge me $100 just for go under the car computer and turn off that feature. With this video, just take me 5 minutes to connect to the car and turn off. Thanks you so much from the other side of the word, Puerto Rico.
I am following this guide to a T but I cant progress past the software registration part. It says that the current licence is expired and to obtain a new one. What can I do from here please?
Brilliant me man! I finally got it. Like some others if you have issues getting the virtual interface to open Windows XP and yours keeps aborting try this: Turn off your laptop and when you reboot, press the hotkey (this may be specific to your brand of laptop so google "your brand + hotkey) . Its probably F10 on your keyboard, again press that hotkey at reboot screen. That will take you to your BIOS SCREEN. Here you need to go to either the tab called 'ADVANCED' or 'CONFIGURATION'. You need to 'ENABLE' the ' VISULISATION TECHNOLOGY' , save settings and restart laptop. This will allow the virtual screen to run windows XP.
Yessss! Im gonna try this because the virtual box wrote the same. Either in bios or elsewhere I have to enable something like that! Im gonna redo the whole again! Thanks!
I also had to do this process. On a HP, spam Esc key, then F10 and cycle across the top menus to enable the visualisation. Worked perfectly after that.
Wonderful Terry! Thanks a lot for this tip. I was frustrated after as this cable got delivered a couple of days ago and I was looking in all avenues to successfully make use of it to toggle a couple of features in my 2009 Corolla hatch. Your video popped just in to save heaps of my time.
So I've actually got an old Windows XP laptop. Can I just buy one of the techstream cables, download the software and be good to go? How do I decide which land cruiser to choose, I've got a '18 NA version. Btw, I'm very jealous of your diesel motor, I wish Toyota had given the USA an option of which motor to have, I would've chosen the diesel in a heartbeat.
Thank you for the video, what is the difference between current and historical code please? and what happens when you clear them ? or what is mean clearing them?
A historical code is one that was registered in the past but has since been rectified. This can happen by fixing the issue that created the code in the first place, and ECU retains the historical data. Eg happened, resolved, recorded by ECU. A current code represents an unresolved problem that you have in real time. Clearing a code removes it from the ECU memory. If you have resolved the issue, it’s gone forever. If you have not resolved the issue, the cleared code will return again. Cheers
Thanks, that is really a great video. Can you please shed some light on Techstream (Air Conditioning) ECU. I am having problems on the Servo Motors on my LC200, they are all mixed up. Air flow is coming only from wind shield and not from the Driver nor Passenger side. I tired Techstream to initialize the Servo Motors several times with no effect. I am almost positive that the servo motors or okay since I have been getting this problem since the car was new. Please if you can make a video explaining anything that can also be done other than initializing the servo motors
Thanks for this video and excellent instructions! I was able to get techstream up and running in no time after I enabled virtualization technology in the BIOS as suggested by Mr. Doodle. Works with my 2002 japan corolla fielder.

I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7L. I am getting a S303-05 error (selected system is not responding or not available) when trying to select various ECUs. The only thing I did differently was select the North America configuration. For some reason when using the "Other" configuration the registration key doesn't work for me. Any ideas?
I have a couple questions.. 1) Am I stuck with Techstream 12.2 or once I have installed everything, can I upgrade to version 17? 2) Will this read the Hybrid battery voltage on my Hybrid Camry?
The version that's distributed with those off brand Chinese cables has various malware in it. The virtual box should protect you anyway, but be careful.
Hello Terry and thank you for this post! I was wondering if this version of Toyota Techstream can be used on a USA version 2010 Lexus ES350 to upload new TPMS Sensor serial number codes. I recently had these new valves/sensors installed on all 5 tires. (CDWTPS TPMS Sensor,315MHZ Tire Pressure Monitor System 4-Pack for Toyota| Lexus| Scion Replaces#42607-33021 42607-33011 426070-6011 PMV-107). I tried using an ATEQ Quickconnect to upload serial numbers but having difficulty. Please advise to any tweaks for make and model; it would be much appreciated. Thanks in Advance!
Hi Craig, sorry mate I don’t own nor do I have any experience with a Lexus. You could give it a crack and post up your results here for others to learn from as well. The software downloads are free, the cable is $30 or $40 on eBay. Cheers😎👍
I have a document somewhere around here that I wrote to get 64bit working on Windows 7, I need to update it for 10/11 if it is needed. I pulled together tips and instructions from multiple places into a single doc. It wasn't that hard once I used that document. I never had a problem with Updates removing the drivers, but I also don't update it THAT often, since I just use it for the car.
I have an old laptop that is running a real version of Windows 7, 32bit. So I don't need the virtual box setup. How can I get a version of Techstream 12.2 that is not a .OVA file that needs VM to open?

Worked for me and was able to clear my airbag codes and perform an ABS/VSC/TRAC zero point calibration. Cost me less than the 1hr the dealership charges just to diagnose!
I am able to connect to the vehicle but once I start the smart key registration it says "lost connection with ECU"... I tried with your system and also out of Windows 10 and get the same popup. Any idea why this is happening?
That was an awesome video...im in the market for a 2nd landcruiser...200..70...76...I always thought this could be beyond my pay grade..worried that i could accidentally make unwanted changes etc...but that plug is what I'll be buying first and have a few practice runs on friends 200...then head out into the market armed and ready...I think he will want one also 👍 Thank you
The link and download site you show has injected malware in the program. Windows defender and malware bytes flag it. I am trying to use the lastest version of techstream v17.20.013. I would be nervous to reprogram my vehicle knowing the software has been compromised.
It was not when I cut the video, nor has it been any any issue for anyone in the comments section. I would be looking elsewhere for the source of your malware. Cheers👍😎
This is brilliant, i have an issue with ABS but not sure how to test which part is faulty have codes for low pressure, anyone knows how can i check if its master cylneder or accumulator faulty visa TechStream ?
tremendous! Thank you so much! I've a 2018 Avalon, however. Will the Tech stream recognize it? Or, is there an updated techstream? So great the links are continuing to work.
Hi mate, love ur video mate, thank you for the video, only have one question please. My Toyota Crown 2002 model imported is not listed in the drop down. I’ve got the V14 tech stream. Do you by any chance know what I have to do please? Thank you
Sorry mate, I don’t own a Crown so am not certain. Maybe select a model that has the same motor as your Crown, that would be what I would try. Cheers👍😎
i trying to readapt a 2003 mr2 SMT, i have replaced the clutch and need to readapt the kiss points, gearbox works fine, but the clutch is too fierce at the moment. i have a recent copy of tech stream and have found my way to a page within that appears to allow the data to be altered, it states a range, but i don't have a data source. is there a procedure that will guide me through a full re-adaption,or is there a data source that i could assess to get the clearance data?
Thanks for posting. Procedures worked well! I had issues installing the newest version of virtual box so i just went back and installed the 6.xxx version! As soon as my new ECU arrives i will let you know how the VIN WRITE goes for my 2013 FRS! My new 2013 FRS ECU vin write worked as advertised! Thanks again for posting !
I've downloaded it for M1 MacBook, but keeps saying "there's a new update" when I try to open Techstream. even after hitting "update later" is says "couldn't connect to VIM"
Well, I wish that I could say that this worked. I bought the mini vci cable (2 actually) and downloded the provided links. What I get is the lost communication error as I proceed with my brake bleed. I little bit of research tells me that these cheap Chinese cables don't work very well or at all. If they did, people would not be spending $80-$200 for dongles that do work. It has been a frustrating experience to say the least.
Yep, sound’s frustrating. My cheap Chinese cable has been working perfectly for over 5 years now and I use it extensively so my experience does not mirror yours. Reading the comments, many others have had success so it’s a pity it has not worked for you as it has for them. Good luck finding a solution, and let the community know how you get on👍😎
so at first it didnt accept the registration code, a bit of googling and i changed the date in the vm to be 2019 and hit apply (but dont close the date window!) and then it works. Its funny i bought a toyota thinking theyre reliable but its the worst ive had in 20 years, all electrical glitches 😅 Thanks for the video, its appreciated
I never comment on TH-cam videos. I have to say thank you for posting something useful and it genuinely work. One question I have for you, does it matter what type of Mini VCI cable is used? I've notice many of the cables on Amazon/Ebay have version numbers tied to them. As long as it's a Mini VCI that supports 32bit it should be fine right? Thanks for you help.
Hello, thank you for the video. I want to diagnose/reset/calibrate blind spot sensor on my 2018 rav4. Is there a specific version of techstream software I should use? Thank you.
Hello Could anyone please guide me on getting this to work in “other and Japan” if North America is selected the program works with 2500 days of license. When I chance to Other I get a message for expired license. I tried reinstalling and replacing the MainMenu file in C drive. They did not work. Cable looks good and it is working. I have 2 JDM imports and a Hilux.
What an interesting help-vid -- thanks! Very important: has the TS software been vetted for malware or trojans that may infect the car's components? What are the chances of accidentally overwriting and screwing up the car's ECU firmware via the Techstream software? Will it also detect and reprogram TPMS via the mini-vci?
You are the best. I was stuck when I performed the air bleeding. I tried many times, but still failed. Until I used your system, I passed it finally. You save my car. Thank you.
Great video, I hope I can muddle through figuring out all the downloading and get it up and running. I have a number of Laptops I can try it on and frustratingly, my low mileage '17 4 Runner Limited is giving me CEL and Trac off codes.
Thank you so much for making this video it is awesome. I spent weeks going through various forums for my RAV4 which was a complete waste of time. I even (perhaps stupidly) paid $29 just to join one of the forums where the admin was so arrogant about being emailed for exact instructions. They gave me a serial number for the registration that I used then realised I had installed VB with 64-bit Windows 7 which did not work. I asked for another key for Techstream that I had now downloaded to VB with 32-bit Windows 7 and was told to go back to the forum. Totally unhelpful........ Then I came across your brilliant video. So simple to follow and with all the info right there for FREE! Well, I couldn't have been more delighted. It's just gone midnight here in Ireland so I haven't had a chance to try this out (it's dark), but I am sure it is going to be a success. So thank you again, Jaffa, for taking the time to record this, you Sir, are a Gentleman and a STAR!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
@@JafffaAdventures I will let you know how I get on when I get a chance to try it out. "Er indoors" has been using my car to get to work so I won't get that opportunity until tomorrow evening.... (oh...... that should be later today.....) 😊

Having trouble running it in virtual box in late 2023? I found the new version of virtual box, 7.0+, would "abort" booting XP on the windows logo screen and trying it again would show the "windows shutdown unexpectedly" black screen. I could boot into safe mode from that screen and run techstream, but safe mode has a tiny display and is difficult to use. I tried a lot of troubleshooting but could not get it working normally. After uninstalling everything and downloading the old 6.1 version in the video, bam, it worked normally and the display was back to a usable size and techstream worked. Be aware that the Virtual Box website said it won't be supporting 6.1 after December 2023. Thank you for the video, by the way!
I downloaded it, but it doesn't run on my computer, writes it in a window. What should I do?I have Windows 7.----32-разрядные хосты Windows не поддерживаются этой версией Virtualbox.
What if I have a 4 Runner instead? also, I am still trying to wrap my head around all this tech and 32 bit vs 64, what version/ latest or previous is better for doing what etc.
Great video.I haven't try but the ideea with a virtual box is brilliant. My question is....i live in UK and i have a Japan imported Prius.Which region should i chose for this imported car? Thanks

G'day Terry Been a few years since I've been down under. I miss it. Great video, and I have a dumb question. GX460 did not see it listed as you scrolled thru the list. I assume it is because of "other" Rather than North America? Thanks for a very helpful video Brian
I followed through all the steps to the end but my car is 2013 rx450h. It has another step put the key to register in passenger seat. I tried placing every place on the seat but it doesn't work. Is it because the key I bought is used/not virgin? It is 30 something compared to 85 90 one on ebay.
I like your productive video, followed and used the tech steam without any hickups. BTW I also like the entertainment screen, where did you get this from please. Thanks

Thank you sir for this awesome video! I run Techstream at first attempt, well done! On my first engine scan live data, inyector #4 is in 2.9 value, should I be worried? Engine was warm enough. Thanks!
That’s awesome Manuel, I’m glad it’s worked for you first go. That injector value is right on the limit mate, I would monitor it very closely. Cheers👍😎
Yes, Daryl if the vehicle is a Toyota and I has an OBDII port it should work. It’s the same software the dealer uses for all their work. Have a great weekend mate 😎👍
Having a tuff time trying to get this to work. Using Ver 14.20.019, I am unable to successfully use the activation key to register the software... Do I need an internet connection to activate? An ebay seller has provided the activation keys to me, but they dont seem to be working. Any further ideas on the amazing help you have already provided me with.
Sorry Dean, can't help much mate. Ver 14.20.019 is unfortunately meaningless to me. Is that the version of the techstream or the virtual box? Regardless, I did not have to register any software with an activation key outside of what is in the video. Everything I did to get it working was covered in the video, I left no details out. Good luck mate, many many users have successfully used this method so I know it works across many countries and regions. Cheers
Marvelous many thanks! I wonder how to install newer version or normal windows version in virtual box, and how TS can do fuel analysis or show fuel/air ratio, and other functions like program key, do TMPS. etc.
Just wanted to say thank you. Used these instructions for resetting my alcohol density on my Tundra. Had to work out a few setup errors with VM download and then opening the techstream appliance but nothing a Google search couldn't help me fix. Windows 10 Ryzen 5 computer.
Nice video.. i hv problem with DTC B2340 (headlight) that are current code, i checked all the wirings and its all good, i erased DTC code, but after few sec, the code appeared again.. how do i disable it or erased it? Thanks
Sorry mate, can’t help you with that one. Given you have erased it and it has returned, there is a fault somewhere in the system. If it were me, I would have two options. Take the car to the dealer and get them to diagnose the problem, or just live with it. Only you can decide which option is best for you. Thanks for watching mate 😎👍
Thanks mate. I don’t have a TPMS on my vehicle so the short answer is no. I would try selecting different models when you first boot up Techstream and see if that works. Good luck 😎👍
Hi Jafffa! Thanks for the detailed video and helping a lot of people like me. Unfortunately the link to download the Techstream image is not working anymore. Can you please share another working link please.
Ive followed your video step for step but when I try to connect to my vehicle, I get the unable to connect to VIM error that I get any other way I have tried. How do I install the driver for the cable in windows 7?
I got a CD with my cable. One folder says V16.00.017, the other one is V17.20.013. Is this one newer than yours? Thanks for the video, you are awesome!
Good tip, I’ll pin it😎👍
excellent tutorial. Before seeing this comment I changed the date back to August 2021 on the Laptop and it worked
Awesome feedback, thanks for sharing 👍😎
do i need to reinstall everything. I got up to part where it asks for license key and it says expired. i did however change the region from Afghan to New Zealand?? thanks for the help to everyone.
also can you explain where the mainmenu.exe file is in C:? and once this is done do i still put in the registration key? thanks
Great feedback Paul, thank you. I’ll give this a try. It’s not OTT slow, but if I can speed it up a little that will be beneficial. Thanks again 👍😎

Good stuff Reece, I’m glad it’s worked for you. Really cool😎👍
Perhaps thats why when you say a 32 bit system works best is because these program files are installed on 32 bit system by default
Hope i can get back to you if i get stuck! here is the answer.
Therefore you are running a 32 bit version of the Windows operating system. In essence, you don't need to install the program files (x86) folder, as your operating system is already equipped to run 32 bit applications.
Your program files folder won't say program files (x86) because this is a folder installed on 64 bit operating systems only
Therefore, your program files folder should only read program files.
@gtibruce good to know mate, good luck with your solution, seem like you are on the right track👍😎
Hello, I have tried this 12.00 version and didn't find my model of Corolla 2008 e140 D4D Diesel 1.4 which it's model to be 1ND-TV
But techstream 12 shows only Z model, is there a possibility of having 1ND-TV model on techstream 14?
Don’t know mate, good luck😎👍
Excellent video. The hardest part for me was understanding the virtual box stuff, but I think I've got it now. There are so many different types of the mini VCI cable on Amazon, and I don't know which one to choose. Can you provide a link to the correct version? I have an older Lexus ES350, if that matters.
It's pretty straight forward if you follow the video instructions exactly. There are no hidden surprises. I don't know which cable I have as I bought it years and years ago. It's must be a mini VCI cable J2534 as per time stamp 1:07.
Hello Terry, which year this Techstream software Version 4.21.002 (S990-01)?
Not sure mate😎
I followed your steps but when I went to start techstream within virtual box I got an error saying............... Failed to open a session for the virtual machine TechStream 12.20.024.

I have not yet used the techstram cable plug in since I cant get past this erreor.
Read the comments section for this video as there may be a solution there. Cheers👍😎
Doesn't Techstream work for all Toyotas not jus Landcruiser?
Yep, but my channel is Landcruiser specific
Question for anyone using this. Does your Model auto populate on connect?
As it doesnt for me, and my model (Estima/Previa, and Hybrid as well) doesnt appear in the list
Yes, mine auto populates. Cheers
Just get an older laptop and install a 32bit edition of windows 10 , even can do on a 64 bit based computer, less complicated, still need cable drivers,no virtual machine needed
That may work but every windows update will nuke you. Not this solution but each to their own. Enjoy your journey mate👍😎
I have a question. When you downloaded the Techstream image, you went straight to the image and continued. Don’t you have to go into Oracle and select import and then select the Techstream image?
I can’t recall the specifics mate as it was a long time ago, but if you follow the video to the T you will be right. Cheers 👍😎
Hey man
First of all, thanks for the video as it's really helpful
I just picked up a 2008 Lexus LS460 and have a 2009 Lexus ES350. I want to add keys but am not sure whether any cable off of ebay or amazon would work as I know that the cables have different softwares or something.
Please let me know so I know which cable to look for in order to maximize the software capabilities/customization
Thanks!
I have used two different cables, both worked. It’s not the cable that trips people up, it’s the software recognising the cables. Enjoy your journey mate👍😎
Hi Mate. Where did you get the registry key? Thanks
It’s detailed in the video, along with how to input it into Techstream. Cheers👍
Cheers
after inputting the code, it says that the Tech stream code has expired. Anyone has access to a new code or an alternate method
Not me mate👍
Thank you so much, I just want to ask if this older version of techstream will work withy corolla e140 year 2008? Thanks again
If it has an OBDII port it will work. Cheers
@@JafffaAdventures Yeah it has an OBD PORT and I already tried techstream 18 but it dosen't let you change settings of ECU so I'm willing to try the version 12 in your video, Thanks
@halimsharingan cheers👍
Cheers😎👍
An extra tip
I had to get a new computer and get this pack installed but has an option on the computer BIOS setup which was disabled for running VM (Virtual Machine). I only switch this option to enable and done. Everything worked perfectly
Thank you very much Sir
Good news mate, and thanks for sharing your tip 👍😎
how did you do that? my VM is not wanting to import the techstream file? thanks
Depending on the computer brand you need to have access to the BIOS setup when you initialize the power. Some brands u hold F10, ESC, Fn+F2, or F8
Those are months and years. Cheers
@@JafffaAdventures thank you very much for your continues support
@SiyamandRashid all good mate👍😎
One more.
Usually on PCs you press F8 to get in BIOs setup, but on Laptop HP Envy 360 it is F10
Sweet😎
I've tried 4 different versions of Techstream and this is the only one that allowed me to both read live data and write to the ECU. I used it to install new TPMS sensors in a Prius. Thanks for posting this.
That’s awesome news Martin, thanks for sharing your success mate. Cheers👍😎
Cheers👍😎
Perfect pack! worked perfect to Toyota Prius 2010. I really appreciate your help
That’s awesome news mate, we’ll done 👍😎
Is there a way to get it running for Europe region as I drive a lexus is220 which isn't listed in the North America region?
Great video! May i ask what if it will be directly installed not on a VM but exactly on a windows xp machine, would that be a better idea? Thanks
If you have a 32 bit computer, it will work directly. Cheers
@@JafffaAdventures thank you so much sir.
@kuripotech461 my pleasure 👍

That’s awesome Robert, I’m so glad you found value here mate. Well done👍😎
I am following this guide to a T but I cant progress past the software registration part. It says that the current licence is expired and to obtain a new one.
What can I do from here please?
Try changing the country to North America👍
@@JafffaAdventures This WORKED! I cant thank you enough mate!!
All good mate, cheers😎👍
Great feedback and awesome clear instructions, thanks for sharing your success so others can learn as well. Cheers😎👍
Yessss! Im gonna try this because the virtual box wrote the same. Either in bios or elsewhere I have to enable something like that! Im gonna redo the whole again! Thanks!
Good luck mate👍😎
I also had to do this process. On a HP, spam Esc key, then F10 and cycle across the top menus to enable the visualisation. Worked perfectly after that.
@RandomPandaX78 good stuff mate, thanks for sharing👍😎
Wonderful Terry!
Thanks a lot for this tip.
I was frustrated after as this cable got delivered a couple of days ago and I was looking in all avenues to successfully make use of it to toggle a couple of features in my 2009 Corolla hatch.
Your video popped just in to save heaps of my time.
That’s awesome news Sagun. It will be great to get it working. Cheers👍😎
Do you mind checking if you got any virus from that free software?
Thanks! Worked a treat, plugged into my 2007 Prius and ran a full check. No issues apart from the passenger side AC detector, much to my surprise.
Great news mate, well done. Glad I could help👍😎
XP is a 32 bit operating system so you should be good to go as you described. I agree about the twin turbo diesel as well😉😎
Thank you for the video, what is the difference between current and historical code please? and what happens when you clear them ? or what is mean clearing them?
A historical code is one that was registered in the past but has since been rectified. This can happen by fixing the issue that created the code in the first place, and ECU retains the historical data. Eg happened, resolved, recorded by ECU. A current code represents an unresolved problem that you have in real time. Clearing a code removes it from the ECU memory. If you have resolved the issue, it’s gone forever. If you have not resolved the issue, the cleared code will return again. Cheers
Thank you very much@@JafffaAdventures for your clarifications
No worries mate 👍😎
Thanks, that is really a great video. Can you please shed some light on Techstream (Air Conditioning) ECU. I am having problems on the Servo Motors on my LC200, they are all mixed up. Air flow is coming only from wind shield and not from the Driver nor Passenger side. I tired Techstream to initialize the Servo Motors several times with no effect. I am almost positive that the servo motors or okay since I have been getting this problem since the car was new. Please if you can make a video explaining anything that can also be done other than initializing the servo motors
Sorry mate, outside my field of expertise. Cheers👍
I've had the cable for years and couldnt use it until now! thank you very much!!
That’s awesome Nik, glad you found some value mate👍😎

Hello Terry and thank you for this post! I was wondering if this version of Toyota Techstream can be used on a USA version 2010 Lexus ES350 to upload new TPMS Sensor serial number codes. I recently had these new valves/sensors installed on all 5 tires.
I never had a problem with Updates removing the drivers, but I also don't update it THAT often, since I just use it for the car.
Ok
I have an old laptop that is running a real version of Windows 7, 32bit. So I don't need the virtual box setup. How can I get a version of Techstream 12.2 that is not a .OVA file that needs VM to open?

Sorry mate, I’m not an Apple user so cannot help. Works perfectly on Windows which is what this video is designed for😎
Well, I wish that I could say that this worked.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing your solution 😎👍
I never comment on TH-cam videos. I have to say thank you for posting something useful and it genuinely work. One question I have for you, does it matter what type of Mini VCI cable is used? I've notice many of the cables on Amazon/Ebay have version numbers tied to them. As long as it's a Mini VCI that supports 32bit it should be fine right? Thanks for you help.
Good feedback mate, thank you. As long as the Mini VCI cable supports 32 bit, you are good to go mate👍😎
this may be a dumb question but will this work on a 2021 rav4? I need to program a new fob and the dealer isnt the most helpful. cheers!
Yes mate, any Toyota vehicle with an OBDII port will work. Cheers👍😎

Hello
Could anyone please guide me on getting this to work in “other and Japan” if North America is selected the program works with 2500 days of license.
When I chance to Other I get a message for expired license. I tried reinstalling and replacing the MainMenu file in C drive. They did not work. Cable looks good and it is working.
I have 2 JDM imports and a Hilux.

Can’t help you mate. Look in the comments for solutions to your particular problem👍😎
Been using it for years with no issues, but if you are doubtful don’t do it and move along👍

Good luck mate, should work fine👍😎

Good feedback mate, thanks for sharing. Cheers👍😎

What if I have a 4 Runner instead? also, I am still trying to wrap my head around all this tech and 32 bit vs 64, what version/ latest or previous is better for doing what etc.
If your vehicle is manufactured by Toyota and it has an OBDII port, this solution will work to access the vehicles ECU. Cheers
Great video.I haven't try but the ideea with a virtual box is brilliant.
My question is....i live in UK and i have a Japan imported Prius.Which region should i chose for this imported car?
Thanks
I would choose the region I noted in the video. That lets you access global Techstream which is the one you want👍😎

Been a few years since I've been down under. I miss it. Great video, and I have a dumb question. GX460 did not see it listed as you scrolled thru the list. I assume it is because of "other"
Rather than North America?
Thanks for a very helpful video

Thanks for your kind words Brian. I’m not certain why it was not listed, you can certainly change the region to NA to check. Cheers👍😎
I followed through all the steps to the end but my car is 2013 rx450h. It has another step put the key to register in passenger seat. I tried placing every place on the seat but it doesn't work. Is it because the key I bought is used/not virgin? It is 30 something compared to 85 90 one on ebay.
Ok
I like your productive video, followed and used the tech steam without any hickups.
BTW I also like the entertainment screen, where did you get this from please. Thanks
Cheers mate, I’m glad you got it sorted. The Tesla style screen is detailed in this video. Cheers👍😎

5:50 Regarding the licen issue I make the configuration with noarth amarica and it’s work just fine, great video 👌🏻 keep up brother I will waiting the teaching videos from you 👍🏻
Cheers mate, I appreciate the kind words😎👍
Thank you sir for this awesome video! I run Techstream at first attempt, well done! On my first engine scan live data, inyector #4 is in 2.9 value, should I be worried? Engine was warm enough. Thanks!
That’s awesome Manuel, I’m glad it’s worked for you first go. That injector value is right on the limit mate, I would monitor it very closely. Cheers👍😎
How do I access the hyperdrive? 😂 thanks Terry, really helpful tutorial. Have subscribed to your channel as your no nonsense approach is superb.
That's awesome mate, thanks for the kind words. I trust you will find some value in your stay. Cheers!
Thank you. L/S/C
No worries!
Great tutorial! Unfortunately im also experiencing expired license. Not sure what to do now
Me either mate, I worked when I cut this video
Hey Mate, am I correct this should work with LC 150 as well ??
Thanks for the vids mate very informative as usual.
Catch ya bud.
D
Yes, Daryl if the vehicle is a Toyota and I has an OBDII port it should work. It’s the same software the dealer uses for all their work. Have a great weekend mate 😎👍
You cannot reprogram or “flash” ECU’s with this setup or without a subscription, correct?
I do not have any experience with this aspect mate. Cheers👍
Cheers
Hello, will this work on a 2020 Rav4? I see its version 12 of techstream. will this work just fine to rest EPB? thanks
Don’t know mate, I don’t own a 2020 Rav. Cheers
I'm just wondering that any version of techstream software can be used with any version of techstream cabel sir
Not sure mate, I only know what I have posted in my video. It works and if you read the comments many others have had success. Go well mate😎👍
Marvelous many thanks! I wonder how to install newer version or normal windows version in virtual box, and how TS can do fuel analysis or show fuel/air ratio, and other functions like program key, do TMPS. etc.
Glad I could help out Jo. Go well mate 👍😎
Just wanted to say thank you. Used these instructions for resetting my alcohol density on my Tundra. Had to work out a few setup errors with VM download and then opening the techstream appliance but nothing a Google search couldn't help me fix. Windows 10 Ryzen 5 computer.
Great stuff Joel, thanks for sharing your experience 👍😎
Nice video.. i hv problem with DTC B2340 (headlight) that are current code, i checked all the wirings and its all good, i erased DTC code, but after few sec, the code appeared again.. how do i disable it or erased it?
Thanks
Sorry mate, can’t help you with that one. Given you have erased it and it has returned, there is a fault somewhere in the system. If it were me, I would have two options. Take the car to the dealer and get them to diagnose the problem, or just live with it. Only you can decide which option is best for you. Thanks for watching mate 😎👍
Very helpful, however I wasn't able to find the TPMS ECU? Any ideas why it doesn't show?
Thanks mate. I don’t have a TPMS on my vehicle so the short answer is no. I would try selecting different models when you first boot up Techstream and see if that works. Good luck 😎👍
How to check the battery and registering new battery? I checked all the ecu functions but didn't see battery
Don’t know mate, this video describes how to get Techstream working. Cheers😎
I have a 2021 Toyota Camry that needs a DCM update, soo dreaded on many Toyotas, can I use this to process to update my DCM?
Don’t know mate. Cheers
Hi Jafffa! Thanks for the detailed video and helping a lot of people like me. Unfortunately the link to download the Techstream image is not working anymore. Can you please share another working link please.
No, sorry mate I don’t know of any other link. Cheers👍😎
by faaarrrrrr the easiest to follow guide with actual results. thank you very much!
You are welcome mate👍😎
Is this free using the download link? Or still need to pay for a subscription?
All free mate👍😎
Thanks for the help! I do have a question, the program that you installed is legit or it is patched. Thanks
The program is legit, the key allows you to use it indefinitely. Cheers 😎👍
Ive followed your video step for step but when I try to connect to my vehicle, I get the unable to connect to VIM error that I get any other way I have tried. How do I install the driver for the cable in windows 7?
Don’t know mate
I got a CD with my cable. One folder says V16.00.017, the other one is V17.20.013. Is this one newer than yours? Thanks for the video, you are awesome!
Don’t bother with the CD, follow the instructions in the video exactly and it has the best chance of working.
@@JafffaAdventures Ok.
Life saver. 👍👍. Thank you for the post. Step by step worked excellent.
Good stuff mate, enjoy👍😎
Thanks
No worries mate, go well👍😎
