    "How do you retain clarity while keeping a sound wet wet wet? Especially with reverb."
    "Kan du sier noe på dansk? Det ville være kjempebra."

    I truly hope you dig this new format. I had a blast making it. Really awesome feeling to actually directly respond to the questions and pedal combo ideas you have. This video turned out crazy long though. I'll try to keep the other ones more concise. But that's my weakness. Once I get going, it's tough to say stop. Especially when you're having fun. Can't wait to make the next episode :) All the best - Stefan

    That first tip there with long decay and less mix should be printed in every reverb manual. Silly I didn't know this as I have three reverbs where one is in a Dreadbox nyx that I mainly use as a reverb pedal for other synths. Thanks for mini tutorial, this was great : )

    Stefan, I think the reason people look for your advice for things that you may consider to be "not your specialty" (like dirt pedals) is that you may or may not know how valuable it is to find a gear demo guy who plays and uses gear in a similar way to how I would also use it.
    Of course we all love to hear the great guru's of tone and truly amazing players discuss gear and music philosophy, but if I want to know about how a certain chorus pedal sounds, it is incredibly valuable to hear someone demo it in the same style that I would want to use it.
    No pressure, but a lot of us want to hear how a pedal would sound when YOU play it before mashing that "purchase" button, because it is a little closer to hearing how the pedal might sound when I play it after it arrives.

      @@michaelcraig9449 post just means after, doesn’t mean it transcends it. Post punk didn’t make punk obsolete, and ‘post rock’ (I hate the term) doesn’t make rock obsolete. It just builds on it. No one’s making anything obsolete, just adding to the rich tapestry of sound and music.

      Thank you! Really means a lot to me you enjoyed the format and found the content helpful and informative. And yeah, you can apply the same idea to delay. Especially when using reverb and delay together, take down that mix and bump up the feedback, and let the trails from the delay help create a lingering reverberating pad as it feeds into the reverb pedal.

      @AndyAcker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I may add something to the first question apart of Stefan's brilliant advices (I learned the importance of keeping a low mix from this channel). Could be obvious but I think single coils and a clean fenderish amp make a huge difference to maintain some note definition when using tons of reverb. This is why I love single coil guitars.

    Another way to keep clarity and enjoy a reverb at 100% wet is to run the reverb in parallel using a pair of MG06 mixers or so. Impractical outside of a studio or your home, though.
    You give an impression that you do not know that the Mercury7's pre-delay is adjusted using "Alt" + "Space Decay".

    • @thepedalzone
      @thepedalzone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know that the Mercury7 has adjustable pre-delay, but it’s not long enough. So I needed one with a way more apparent pre-delay for the sake of demonstration. Hence I opted for the CXM

    Also funny you say you don't like dirt pedals that much because you play them so well. By well I mean precise or sort of clean, I now it sounds like a contradiction, but what I mean is that they need a high level of control in order to not sound like mud or meaningless noise, something I hear you know very well.

    I would love a pre delay parameter to lessen the attack or transient. There’s been many instances when I’ve wanted a high pre delay but then did not like percussive or rhythmic effect of it, if that makes sense.

    Another tip for the 1st question is to put the delay/reverb in the effects loop, if more clarity is what you want.
    Optimally, if you're recording or using an amp sim, putting the delay/reverb in post-processing after the amp gives the most clear results.
