This was an entertaining game to watch and I was at the edge of my seat wondering if Ben would be able to make it out or not. It's sad it had to come at the cost of Carlos getting booted out early, but it was a good game to watch nevertheless!
Carlos I did this exact same thing literally last night, it’s totally okay. Doesn’t matter if it’s Cedh. It’s something that happens in magic, you shouldn’t feel embarrassed

Ya, it’s been mentioned that the shiekmaw can’t kill the canonist. So that was a misplay. Nylea reduced the cost of creatures so Emiel only cost three.
The Dragon tapestry of Carlos is an artistic treasure. Where i can find that model for buy it? Great content, don't worry for mistakes, cEDH is a tough mental disgusting game, errors are common, nobody is perfect !
I think it would add value to the video to be an instructional one if you had included a longer discussion segment at the end, or just directly pausing the video and discussing. To highlight points for the viewers to learn. Not just mistakes by yourself but by the entire pod. Would be great to get Ian on to discuss about the concede and what are the possible decision points to prevent it from happening.

As you had polled a few months back on garnering viewership. I feel this kind of added value content will allow the channel to find a niche beyond merely a gameplay video channel.

The biggest Mistake I did when I attacked and left myself open to Ian’s attack for lethal. I had no reason to attack and even when attacking I should have at least left back my 1/1 creatures as they didn’t do much damage and could save my life in blocking. I should have just passed the turn and untapped and won on my turn instead I attacked all our for no reason and died. Haha….
Everyone makes plays like that it's part of the game! If you didn't upload it then Alan wouldn't get the shine he so rightly deserves for his 47 shriek maw lol
I think there's a similar thing in Latin/English which is "errare humanum est" - to err is human. But yeah, nothing wrong with seeing a missplay from time to time, nobody's perfect.
Still new to mtg and commander as a format but I’ve been eyeing Meren because she just seems super cool thematically and green and black are my favorite colors. I’m just not sure how beginner friendly she is
She is pretty straight forward. You just play creatures that like to die, have good etbs, or sac themselves and get value. Later on you can add some graveyard combos.
Meren was my first EDH deck, and she is to this day one of the most fun commanders I have. She's relatively straight-forward to play, but you have to be careful not to miss triggers (experience counters and her EoT ability) and you will come accross some interactions with weird/unintuitive rulings. She was actually "buffed" recently when they made it so that commanders go to the target zone before being moved to the command zone when they die/are exiled, so she actually gets an experience trigger off of her own death now, which she didn't before. The only issue you may really have with her is that, if she's built correctly, she will absolutely dominate any low-level or jank table. If your opponents are only getting 1-2 creatures out each turn and you're constantly reanimating a Noxious Gearhulk or a Plaguecrafter (or a Shriekmaw, like in this video), then you're basically unstoppable, so if you only play with friends that are new to commander or who don't have very high-power decks, she can be really nasty to play against, especially in 1v1. On a side-note, if you're not going for a cEDH build, I highly recommend Doomgape for Meren. 1-per-turn sac outlet that gains you life, triggers on upkeep (sac a creature to Doomgape on upkeep, reanimate it with Meren on EoT), and is a huge 10/10 trampler for only 7 mana. Again, not great in cEDH, but really cool in a casual deck.
Uhm…when the destroy all lands card was cast, it was already on the stack, meaning the white card stopped him from playing any other spells but he should have still had the red spell resolve since it was cast before hand…right?
I don’t understand holding people to certain actions before they even resolve. For instance, declare attackers at a player, “hey this guy has death touch by the way are you sure you want to attack?” “Oh shit i didn’t notice, let me readjust.” Its so hard to keep track of everything on the board. I guess maybe in competitive its more cut throat?
All about what your group agrees to. I want to play tight games where people eat their mistakes. But I'm also not opposed to more laid back games with small take backs allowed.
Didn't you have infinite mana with Kodama/sakashima with the growth chamber and breeze caller out? Tap growth chamber and return another land to untap growth chamber, put land into play with triggers.. Tap land you put into play and float one.. Repeat. Did you not have any payoff in hand?
Was it a punt yes. Was it a punt that would not have happened in real life yes. That is one of the problems of webcam magic, it happens and it will most likely never happen again. Good game interest land destruction deck and that shriekmaw wrecked Ian’s board
I mean it was real life. I was just as likely to make that punt via webcam as I was in person. I just wasn’t thinking and thought I had more than enough life to swing. I learned a lot though and hopefully all of you can too. :)
no one wants to see picture perfect gameplay. i mean we do but we really wanna see games the way they occur...with the same mistakes we all have made. play the games, pump out the content and keep the good times showing :)

Misplays and game errors are in two different categories. There was no breaking the rules here, you just left yourself open for an attack... That's perfectly fine, and happens all the time. Game errors, where the rules are broken are generally acceptable if they are small or inconsequential (i.e. fetching a forest with a bloodstained mire). Even big errors I am fine with so long as the game is entertaining, and the error is addressed.
players who scoop are so annoying, even there are no outs for them, they should finish the game. cuase that way the playier in the lead needs to invest ressources towards you.

It was still a solid game. In a way I’m sort of glad I punted. It turned out a lot more interesting that way.
I think this was the most times i've audibly screamed "C'MON ALAN!!" at my computer. That was a great game!! Ben and Ian kept it in check for sure!!

Red spell to destroy lands was not cast. It was a cycle ability
Misplays that don’t break the game’s rules are fine imo. It’s a learning lesson for all! Great game nonetheless really got down to the grind.

Ya, once you start resolving blocks etc it’s sort of like taking your hand off the chess piece but cedh. It makes you get better to say the least.

I could be wrong but when Winota attacked alone Ian said her ability triggered even though Winota is a human. Did I miss something or did he misplay?

If somebody destroys all land, i think they shouldnt be allowed to scoop, setting everybody back from playing and they quitting is annoying

Everybody makes "stupid" mistakes. Playing on a camera doesn't change that magically so don't beat yourself up over it. Learn from it.

He had to go because of some outside of game things. He tried to hang in as long as he could to not mess the game.
