Throw the Perfect Hook | Boxing for Beginners | Easy to Follow

  • This is the technique for throwing a hook and a 123 combo.. it is very important to throw your hook within your rhythm while fighting so that you can get power in your punches as well as always being ready to defend. Throwing your combinations like the 123 is a great way to be affective in any fight. As my trainer always says "you can't win a fight with just one punch, you have to throw punches in bunches". love that old man lol.. sorry its a little longer than some of my other videos, most of my striking or fighting technique videos are always going to be a little longer because i really want to try and explain things so that every one understands the different ways these techniques can be used.

      It takes time. Imagine if you never played basketball in your life. You would have to learn to dribble, make a free throw, basically everything that most Americans take for granted because we grew up with it. Just start slow, pay attention to mechanics and work your way up.

      just do it slowly, care more about the techniche than hitting strongly and fast. And if you train a lot you start naturally doing faster

    boxing is one sport where everyting looks easy on the videos and its so damn tough to land a punch correctly- with force, with the technique, while you breathe correctly and do all this for many many rounds. Its been just 3 weeks for me and man it is so exhausting but just so much fun.

    Keep up the great videos!! I'm learning a lot. I've always hooked with my thumb facing me and I can tell a big difference doing it the way you show with the thumb up. It feels more natural and I get more power. Your videos got me motivated into working out again.

  • @nikolametla417
    @nikolametla417 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for the hook explanation. Bringing the hand back to you helps a lot as a tip. Regarding the hook style (your thumb facing you) you need to drop your elbow a little bit down before the shoot and than create a circular motion than you need to lean more with your body to the right if you throw the left hook for exp. basically using your weight etc. and plus your sholder needs to be relaxed during this entire process...not easy at all to be honest and this is the Russian old school kind of hook.

    Ghostmelee you want to bring your wrist in a little more towards your body when practicing what he showed you withou the bag. Then just impliment bending your wrist in towards you gently on the bag at first till you find the sweetspot on your knuckles. Remember when throwing the left hook this way, its "better" in alot of peoples opinions to have THUMBS UP!

    Im trouble throwing the hook on a heavy bag. when you make contact with the heavy bag, is it supposed to be the knuckle part of your hands right? i keep making the mistake of hitting the bag where my fingers bend, so its more of a slap than a hook

    No disrespect cause i see you have good boxing techniqueand maybe a lot more experience than me but the hook with the horizontal fist is much stronger if you get used to it.It is also the proper way to throw hooks in amateur cause the vertical fist hooks many times are just slapping punches.However good job in showing the 1 2 3 combination.

    • @SavingPrivateBob
      @SavingPrivateBob 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this comment. I almost took his advice on board until I remembered my coaches saying not to slap with my hooks like the guy does here.

    • @skotiskiller
      @skotiskiller 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      SavingPrivateBob No problem.I wouldn't say that he slaps with his hooks but i personally thow the hooks with my palm facing the floor like most of the boxers in my country and i generated a lot of power after i got used to them.You can learn to throw swings-hooks too like that if you are really experienced like Golovkin and many of the Cubans do and these type of hooks are dealy.Generally the hooks with the palm facing the floor are great but you have to get used to them like you have to get used to the
      ordinary hooks.

    • @SavingPrivateBob
      @SavingPrivateBob 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      skotiskiller I've seen boxers do that. I'm in it for 2 months now. Learning everyday with obsession.

    • @skotiskiller
      @skotiskiller 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SavingPrivateBob Stick to what your coach tells you.Boxing is a very difficult sport but that is its beauty.You need to practise everything tens of thousands of times and you have to fight with yourself mentally and physically.Boxing is blood sweat and tears but it is the queen of all sports.Everyone who starts it gets addicted to it.

    All I’m going to say is,,, this guy moves in head first with every punch and his lead foot is straight instead of angled....and idk about his coach but mine will stop me in my tracks if I throw a punch and move in head first,,, also he doesn’t step into his right hand,, again my coach will stop me if I don’t step in with back foot and drop my hips when going to throw a right hand,

    Like I said I can tell by your balance, how you throw your punches, and how your balance is after you throw a punch. lol I would bet money on it that you take alot of punches.. Your style sucks bro. I bet none of the people you "teach" to throw a hook aint worth shit. lol. Damn your a real good trainer. As a trainer you should be able to watch a fighter and pick out his weakness. I already see yours, yours is easy because you dont know how to adjust your balance after punching.

  • @thebestthereis1930
    @thebestthereis1930 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    In this case im not assuming anything, I am certain you take alot of punches! I am willing to bet money on it. I can tell by your style and how your body is positioned you take punches. Prove me wrong and post a video of you sparring. I know you wont because you cant really box with any skill. You are fooling those who dont know better but I am not one of those people. Again I bet you take alot of punches.

  • @Yeame143
    @Yeame143 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you want some real boxing advice go to Fran Sands channel also JTVan this kid is teaching poor technique and I am a fighter who has been training for over 30 yrs. I saw his "sparring" session in his video. Listen I'm not trying to be mean keep training focus on technique and some day you might be worthy of the title of instructor. He could tell you probably take shots due to typical poor stance. If you box then stand on a line if your an orthodox fighter your left foot forward toes on the left of the line and right heal on the right of the line feet at about a 45 degree angle Muay Thai front foot is pointed forward to make it easier to check lead leg kicks body almost square with feet shoulder with apart. For more on Muay Thai check out BMT Bang Muay Thai and no matter what you train it's technique over power and you must drill, drill, drill. There's no quick way to muscle memory.

    • @Yeame143
      @Yeame143 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Xander Cameron Ok kid, I guess since I don't waste my time making videos I can't fight. This is a kid teaching, my point is if you want boxing instruction videos Fran Sands is a well know instructor who breaks down technique well. I've trained at ATT Vero Beach, Combat Fitness Vero was on dos Diablos fight team, Daddis Fight Camp Philly. not to mention 9yrs of Kenpo. So I have a li'l idea of what good instruction looks like.

    • @Yeame143
      @Yeame143 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Xander Cameron and if your talking about those bullshit self-defense videos you take those rape defense videos to a bjj black belt and ask him to tell you what they think of the technique. What he's doing is potentially dangerous try those techniques with gear on and go at %80 and see if it actually works. Spoiler alert they don't. So if a girl practices that crap she's no safer but she thinks she is safe. Act like a man, boy!

    • @XLadd
      @XLadd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee Tompkins your typing like you know things, yeah i don't no a lot about it but i do know when someone is chatting blatent bull shit hahaha, and I've only just started boxing so i'm not the best i know that also and i'm not looking on fighting with people with other fighting styles i only do boxing for the fitness i don't care about anything els so stop thinking that everyone who boxes want to fight cos its not always the thing i wouldn't care if a black belt came to me because i never have a reason to fight with them :)

    • @Yeame143
      @Yeame143 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Xander Cameron You came talking shit at me because I don't believe people should be misled and there are enuff people posting bad technique. When you grow up if you stick with boxing and learn from a real boxing coach you will see why those of us who actually fight are bothered by fakes. Real fighters pour their blood and sweat into learning their craft so when someone who hasn't tries to act like he has it's insulting to the rest of us. Don't talk shit cause in the real world that's enuff to get you into a fight. Stay tuff behind your screen fighter who doesn't want to fight
