Usually I do not use UZI, and most often I also skip on MegaShark as well. If I have to choose betwen those two I would use MegaShark every single time, because I just find it way cooler and more interesting to handle than UZI. That being said, on rare occasions when I happen to kill mob in jungle and UZI happens to drop (crazy luck!) I do take it and I definietly do use it untill something better comes my way. Also, UZI was the very first weapon with which I managed to kill The Destroyer... So many, many years ago. And I remember that huge portion of game was gated for me. No matter what I did I could not get past Hardmode Bosses (no Plantera back then - it was version that introduced Wall Of Flesh and Hardmode). UZI was back then even harder to obtain, especially if one didn't knew such weapon existed at all. But it happened, I got my hands on it and managed to use it to kill The Destroyer and other Mechanical Bosses. So yea... Despite me not using UZI anymore, and despite me not finding that weapon particulary fun to use I do have special spot for it in my memories :)

Uzi is good for single targets, but for early Hardmode I feel like Daedalus Stormbow with Holy Arrows is generally better for bigger targets or crowds. But Uzi is a good alternative!
Hi Duke Fishron! Agreed, the Uzi excels in single target combat, the Daedalus stormbow is still a crazy good weapon for early hardmode boss fights (even after all its nerfs lol)

Ranger has the best early hardmode options by far, dart rifle is also an insane early hardmode weapon which is great up to pre plantera
I used the dart rifle with cursed darts for a while, I recommend it.
dart rifle is best til golem if you know what you're doing

I feel every class has powerful options, sanguine staff is pretty darn strong, mages has crazy strong weapons as meteor staff, crystal serpent, golden shower and sky fracture, as well as nimbus rod wich is free dps for every class and has a crazy synergie with sky fracture (due to critical rate). The only class I feel has poor options until later is melee, but I might be wrong as I don't play melee myself that often.

Onyx blaster is a great early hardmode weapon!
That gun carries me throughout hardmode, until I obtained the Tactical Shotgun. Onyx Blaster is so damn fun to use, but it is painful for me to say goodbye since I may obtain some better and more powerful replacement.
It injects a dose of dopamine with each BLAST!

I absolutely love the onyx blaster, I even killed plantera with it solo in a melee set
The main issue of comparing the Uzi vs. the Megashark is that the Megashark makes better use of special ammos. That said, the Uzi is fantastic for general use, and probably the best Gun to use for general exploration/mob clearing/resource farming with the Infinite Musket Ball Pouch, as it automatically gives the High Velocity Bullet effects to those normal shots, meaning you can save your special ammunitions for boss fights and the like. So it's an excellent option, but I feel that the Onyx Blaster and the Megashark will beat it out in boss fights with special ammo types fairly regularly.

I'm loving the health drain because it only uses mana when you actually hit enemies. It's been my go to weapon that I've found so far at this stage in the game. I'm currently working towards getting the large feather from harpies.
Health drain is really powerful! I just wish it had a bit more range
Funny thing is, in my most recent playthrough, I got an uzi on my first angry trapper kill, and it had the unreal reforge! What insane luck!
To have it drop on the first kill is insane, to have also be unreal is… unreal!

It took me _473 kills_ to get an Angry Trapper with an Uzi. No cap, it took me like two IRL days of jungle hunting. I learned to love the Hellwing Bow because of it.

I swear I'm always missing out when it comes to early hardmode ranger options. While the Uzi is amazing single target dps:
1) The daedalus stormbow is still incredibly solid group dps
2) The darts are dumb as hell in early hardmode. All of the darts have their uses against the mech bosses and they are incredibly cheap to mass produce.
Uzi is still incredibly good and is honestly in the same tier as these other weapons for early hardmode domination
The daedalus stormbow is still my go to destroyer weapon, along with the nimbus rod, but the Uzi is great for everything in between!
my go to weapon is dart pistol with ichor darts all the way until golem.
(I switch to cursed darts for the destroyer ofc)

been playing guns only playthru on terraria for a bit now and unironically the biggest glow up ive ever felt was going from necro armor+clockwork to frost armor+uzi from early hardmode, the uzi is actually insanely good when you add the frostburn debuff into the mix as well
really wish it wasnt such a pain to farm for though, same with frost armor
Love the uzi. Easily my favorite gun in the game. Just hate farming for it. Can take hours sometimes
For my first Uzi, it took me three days. Real time.
You can craft high velocity bullets! You just need 50 empty bullets and a cog, seeing as megashark needs a mech-boss killed anyways, the combo could do very well (I havent tested it lol)
I don’t think it’s that good. The rare drop chance is super low and also very dangerous to get because hard mode jungle is really difficult. Legit onyx blaster is a much simpler alternative with high enough dps, and is much easier to get. You can also combine it with ichor bullets for more oomph

@@Inmortuae2233 You can farm pretty much anything with enough creativity and knowledge. One way you could do it is by mining out a big enough area to prevent spawning and then add columns of jungle grass mud a certain distance away on both sides of the afk spot for the angry trappers to spawn. You could then put a bunch of boulder statues above the farm to kill the trappers. Sorry if this doesn't make sense cause I'm not great at explaining, but I've seen it work before, so I know you can do it.

I remember using The Uzi for about 20 minutes, then going right back to the mega shark . It just did a lot more damage when I was using it.

Not like it means much, the Uzi is perfectly good at medium range and it's practically hitscan anyway.
Finally see someone else say it. The Uzi is a dummy strong gun for CC. Endless musket pouch and frost armour gives you what is basically the meteor armour + spacegun just on crack and with an added DOT

Never really used the Uzi in early hardmode, mainly because I'm concerned with getting through as fast as possible.
Damn Corruption spread.
This is a must have in master mode. something i picked up on is that it doesn't matter how much damage you do but also how fast you do damage and how far you can stay away from anything. I never needed the boomstick or whips until master mode because close-quarters anywhere is a death sentence if your defense isn't high enough (which it usually isnt)
It really isn't. There are other weapons that are perfectly fine. The Uzi is middling.
I love the Uzi becuase its iconic, badass, and powerful pre-Plantera. But another powerful option for dominating early-Harmode is the Dart Rifle with Cursed Darts. It deals so much damage to Mech bosses and to crowded areas because of the Cursed Fire spread. You can get one from Crimson Mimics and I got mine just at the start of Hardmode. It takes a little skill to use it though because the projectile flies slow and you need to shoot it afar to deal maximum damage by spreading the Cursed Fire to crowded areas.
Correction: the dart rifle is obtained from corrupt mimics while crimson ones drop the dart pistol. You can make an artificial evil biome underground if you want either.
I obtained this gun recently by accident and it is really really good. It is indeed a competitor with the megashark, i love this gun
I think finding the Uzi was the biggest lucky turn of RNG I ever had in Terraria. Pretty much after entering Hardmode, I went to a fishing hut I built in the Jungle, basically a wooden box almost completely buried in the soil. Fished there for a minute, and an Angry Trapper head showed up from nowhere: killed it and *BAM* Uzi! I was so happy

I feel like clearing up some misconceptions about the uzi. The uzi converts musket balls into high velocity bullets, which can be crafted and used for any other gun after acquiring the steampunker. In the tests shown in the video, musket balls were used for the megashark, where the uzi had high velocity bullets by converting musket balls. By my own tests, using the same ammo types for fair comparison (high velocity bullets for both guns), the megashark did approximately 10% more dps with no extra equipment. Still though, while the megashark is strictly better in terms of dps, the uzi is acquirable before mech bosses, and is still a great option for early hardmode, especially since it uses high velocity bullets by default, when high velocity bullets require at least one mechanical boss defeated to be crafted and used for other weapons.
Hell, I used my darling Uzi all the way through to post-Plantera Solar Eclipses. No special ammo either, just high velocity musket balls from the pouch.
I got this weapon really early (before any mech boss) and it was my favorite weapon up until after Lunatic Cultist when I switched to melee.

i will never forget the first time i got one of these, it was right as i entered hardmode and was doing a ranger playthrough, i saw a trapper near the surface and said “imagine uzi first try.” and it actually dropped lmao, cant remember the prefix but i do remember it was a bad one so i had to reforge it, carried me through early hardmode.
keep in mind this was the FIRST trapper i encountered upon entering hardmode.
Similar thing happened to me which what led to me loving it! Had it drop on one of my first ranger playthoughs and used it for half the game!

Uzi and explosive bullets is amazing for getting enemies off you even when you're not playing ranger, it sends enemies almost a screen away with a few shots
When i played 1.3 on launch first time , u remember i went to jungle for stingers and got an unreal uzi randomly killing a trapper :D it helped me lots considering i couldnt kill the twins at that time
Honestly I had the uzi from the very beginning of hardmode. I had no idea how rare it was, I just thought I got a pretty decent gun. Thing is once I found out that it was viable, I was a little hesitant about crafting the megashark. But after defeating the destroyer and deciding to craft it, it was clear. The megashark was simply better. Sure with regular ammo, the uzi is far superior. But with special types such as crystal and later on chlorophite, the uzi's slow fire rate just doesn't stand up where the megashark does. Not to mention you usually don't have a plethora or spare ammunition, and that 50% chance is a god send. So if you ask me, I would say megashark for the win.
i personally prefer the onyx blaster to the uzi because there is no need to farm things for a long time, and i find it works better for general use due to firing a spread of shots and an explosion.
I still can't ever stop loving the dart rifle w/ crystal darts though. Piercing darts that homing-richochet onto enemies, literally single piece of crystal = 100 rounds, and does IMMENSE damage even after the nerf. It is absolutely mind blowing against multi-section bosses or events with many enemies
the uzi holds a special place in my heart as it was my main weapon when i was young playing on the xbox 360
My friends always wondered why I would grind for this gun as soon as I got into hard mode as well but it’s like with unreal on it and ranged armor it’s a god weapon
I considered it but decided to go for the mega shark and im glad that I did because ive killed almost 500 angry trappers and newer gotten one
Through personal experience, the uzi shines a lot more in modded content where certain early hardmode bosses have a lot more defense than vanilla making it much more effective than the mega shark on high defense single targets.
if i got it early id really like it but if i got it anywhere where id be at the jungle normally id rather have something else like the chlorophyte shotbow(harder to get generally because its locked behind the mech bosses)
The star cannon is definitely the most overpowered gun in terraria (in my opinion) its a pre hard mode gun that can take out a master mode for the worthy destroyer in just a few seconds
i'd say coin gun with platinum coins is way stronger
It's worth noting that you don't have to get it in the underground jungle you can get it above ground too you just have to kill angry trappers
I remember when the Uzi and Sniper Rifle were kinda meh because the high velocity bullet was "just for show". After the piercing buff, whoa hot damn.
If you could manage to find isolate a spider biome in the caves, and manage to make It easy to farm black recluses in hard mode.
Ease of access and all with a water candle on top
You could make the spider armor set as well as the summons to have enough DPS to race through the mechanical bosses and even eat Planterra alive. Even in expert mode.
So It would be great to use both strategies in an expert mode run that Ive been planning for the longest time.
I still remember when it first got added back in 2013. I didn't even know it existed, but my brother got one the day it was added and I considered him a bit lucky...until I saw that it was a *1/80,000* chance! This isn't the only time this kind of thing has happened either. For whatever reason, if my brother and I are playing the same game, I could farm something for HOURS and he'll get it accidentally. For any of you who played Phantasy Star Universe back in the day, I farmed the Black Heart unit (which increased your resistance to status effects and gave you a cool black particle effect). It was a very rare drop (1.2%) from an extremely rare enemy called a Darbelan (appeared about 1/200 missions). In 3 weeks of near continuous farming, I fought a total of 6 Darbelans...and got nothing. I get back from a bike ride, and my brother casually says to me "You were trying to get the 'Black Heart', right...I just got one". He was doing the mission they showed up on just to get the last bit of experience to level up...probably his 5th total time ever playing the mission. His first ever pack of YGO cards (Pharaoh's Servant) had Imperial Order (a secret rare).
The uzi is my favorite weapon, i always get it. Most of the time i just end up going ranged when i was meaning to do something else and even by endgame i always keep it in my bar even if i end up using other way better weapons. I cant believe its as slept upon as it is, although me realising that it was kinda made me like it to so much cuz im a fuckin hipster or something idk

Another best-in-slot gun imo has to be the pew-matic horn. It's damage per shot is far more variable than its in-slot counterpart of the hand-gun, but on average, it's got higher DPS as well as being auto-fire, which makes it a far more viable weapon than the handgun. It's only real drawbacks are its limited range and that it can't make use of special ammo effects, though its damage multiplying trait means that it does make better use of the increased damage of alternative ammo types that don't pierce.
It's worth noting any gun can benefit from the piercing high speed bullets of the Uzi by loading it with High Velocity Bullet after defeating one mech boss. Crafted with empty bullets from the arms dealer and cogs from the steampunker.

That's the same reason why I used the shadow lamp in my last run (master+for the worthy).
The weapon was underrated and yet still powerful to carry me a long time. Uzi is the same thing but without crafting.

Yesss!!! I had the Uzi on my very first playthrough and i keep it till the Golem, is so damn good, but now after beating even Empress of Light in Daytime and Master Mode, i actually never got it again
Love the uzi but can never get it since I avoid the hardmode jungle until post mech bosses 90% of my playthroughs. Usually run the Amarok with a Yo-yo bag to mob everything till I can get the Stormbow then just shred the mech bosses. Hell even the Amarok with an ichor flask and all the best accessories shreds the mechs, dodging them is super easy after you've been through the hell that is master mode.
I love how Terraria post hardmode weapons are mostly very sci-fi or fantasy like “True Excalibur” or the martian weapons but ranger class is just “Uzi”
Crystal serpent for mage is another amazing weapon for when you can obtain it
Uzi is my personal favorite, fast attacking,piercing machine!! It may take a long time to get and grind for, but its 100% worth the grind. If you decide to go for queen slime and the mount, the gun has great accuracy against the queen slime and the mech bosses and has even helped to up to plantera! And its available THE SECONS YOU GET TO HARDMODE?!?! Im so happy people actually use this gun and not just me. Thanks for reading!
I still feel that the fuckiest weapon early hardmode is the dart rifle/pistol with crystal darts, literally just better chlorophyte bullets and does really good damage against bosses with multiple parts, and is stupidly good at crowd control

Every time I see someone talk about the Uzi, I have to bring this up.
Mobile playthrough, it was around maybe 2015. Just entered Hardmode for the very first time. Went aboveground, killed one Angry Trapper and it dropped an Uzi. I don't think I used it very much because I preferred melee weapons at the time.
Uzi is good but there are other weapons that tend to help more, for example if you are going for a gun without painful jungle grinding you can simply just get the dart gun with cursed darts to beat destroyer for the megashark, which even if it's weaker it still performs good, also I feel that less ammo consumption is very important, just because megashark doesn't have the fastest fire rate doesn't mean it's not good to have, plus after destroyer there isn't a boss with many hitboxes
True, there are a few other great early hardmode and ranger weapons, I like the Uzi the most because you can farm it all in one place

IN ym DPS Tests, I strangely got more dps from the shark, I had no accessories and armor. Single target
You should compare the megashark to the Uzi by using a setup that you'd be realistically be using to fight the Mechs for example, like ichor or cursed bullets. CrabBar vid and the megashark is just better really.
Megashark requires at least one mech boss defeated tho. Uzi you can get immediately in hardmore.

at the point when you get the megashark you can craft the *exact same bullets* as the Uzi uses (High Velocity Bullets) making the Megashark better
The Uzi is awesome and all, but there is one detail you missed; the spread
On a long range (wich is the most common situation you'll find yourself while playing ranger), it's very hard to get constant damage against small targets, like boss minions, prime's arms, the destroyer's probes and so on, while with the Megashark, there is, indeed, spread, but it is much lower, with the downside of being post-mech, and a bit lower dps, you could argue that you can use clorophyte bullets, but that is pre-plantera, and on that stage, there are MUCH better options, such as hallowed and chlorophyte weapons, like the chlorophyte shotbow and the fishron gear if you got the guts to try it out
Very good point, it seems bullet spread is something I overlooked! The megashark is without a doubt more accurate. However I never have too much of a hard time shooting the Uzi at long range due to the high velocity bullets. With something like crystal bullets the Uzi is very difficult to use.
@@sockrteez indeed, the high velocity bullets do help on this, but it can also backfire, since at some point, things like ichor or crystal bullets will demolish in comparation, and the Uzi will have some problem with the spread already mentioned, even tho, with big targets, changing the default bullets for crystal bullets, such as in the destroyer fight, or the Queen slime fight will be the best option, but still, in your video, you got many good points, such as accesibility and potential, the Uzi is a very powerful weapon, after all
never used the uzi premech, i usually use CAR, stormbow or tsunami. might have to try it next playthrough
Save your time and don’t grind for it. It’s got way too low of a drop chance to be viable early hardmode

Before the change to high velocity bullets I used to consider them about equal weapons. Now the Uzi is so much better, bullet ranger struggles against groups.
Plot twist: the Uzi is the gangsta weapon ever used
There is another, or two, high velocity bullet gun that is more accurate, but I can't remember if it, or they, have more dps, and they are also dropped by enemies.
The Uzi is a really rng based weapon just because of how rare it is, it is extremely good early hardmode but its so rare it isnt viable imo

i usually just skip over the slightly worse version of the megashark that is the UZI, since destroyer is a pretty cheesable boss.
just like the Chaos Rod, I got this within a few kills on my first playthrough and have never once gotten it to drop again.

Uzi doesn’t care about ammo reservation because you can use the infinite musket pouch since it converts basic musket balls into high velocity rounds
The pouch is by far the best type of ammo to use the Uzi with. Use another gun for specialized ammo.
Same goes for the Venus Magnum now.

The thing is that the megashark is way faster than the uzi so it gains more dps from crystal bullets which are very powerful early hardmode and its also alot easier to get in my opinion (the less grind, the better)
So far, the lack of cc made me not like ranger overall, and guns in especific suffer a lot more with either slow fire rate or low knockback. But I didn't got the Uzi, didn't felt it was needed, and probably suffer a lot more than the grind would be.
Well, there is always a next run, ins't it.
With the infinite bullets transformed, looks very good.

Really early hardmode, i use the hollowed repeater but thats just my preference
I don't know about the crowd control bit, guns with a single line of fire are usually terrible at that anyway, regardless of knockback.

I remember literally getting the uzi on the first trapper I killed after entering hardmode but I ended up not using because I didn’t like using guns at the time plus I was a noob 😅
Dart pistol with Ichor darts is BROKEN. The Ichor dart not only peirce while ignoring I-frames but it then splits into 3 more darts inside the enemy if you are spacing properly. If used properly vs bosses this can multiply your damage output by 10!
